Server Failing to Recognize Clients
We have a 21 station computer lab running 10.4.11 with 10.5.5 Server. Users login with network accounts to home folders stored on the server. When class begins and everyone tries logging in to their network accounts and afping to their class folder on the server chaos ensues. While most people can login some users have to wait 5-10 minutes before they can login. When we try to restart computers that aren't working network accounts show as unavailable at the login screen. Network account is active as I can still Remote Desktop to the stations. Also users having the problems show up as being Disabled/Asleep in Server Admin. This only happens when many users try to login at once. Any ideas?
I've disabled spotlight searching on all the AFP sharepoints but login still hangs for like 5 minutes before going ahead some network accounts. Is there another place I should disable spotlight searching?
Also login is starting to hang for some network users even when there are not many people logging in at once.

I'm running Java Directory Server version 7.0 64bit on Redhat Linux 5.4.
I'm noticing these errors in my logs when an application using Windows 7 attempts an SSL ldap query:

The Windows 7 application is unable to get the expected ldap response and fails the operation, preventing the application from running correctly. Any ideas as to what this error is and what I might be able to do to address it?

Here's what I discovered today - and this only occurs with applications installed on Windows 7. The same app installed on Windows XP does not have this issue. The application is configured to connect to a DNS FQDN of (sisd-mahp.xxx.xxx). That FQDN translates to an IP that is configured on a Cisco load balancer device. There are two ldap servers behind it that are round-robin'd (sisd-mahp1.xxx.xxx and sisd-mahp2.xxx.xxx). In the SSL certificate of each of those two servers I have defined X509v3 Subject Alternative Names including the load balancer IP and the individual Linux hostnames. When the Windows 7 client uses the FQDN of the load balancer virtual IP it fails, when it uses one of the sisd-mahp1 or sisd-mahp2 it works.
That leads me to believe that there is some inherent problem with the Windows 7 client libs and the load balancer or the Subject Alternative Names. When the client attempted the SSL BIND it got an unexpected result from the server SSL certificate and aborted the connection, which resulted in the failed flush BER data messages on the server.

Help needed with server essentials 2012 R2 client backup failing
Help please. I have installed WSE 2012 R2 on a new Lenovo TS140, everything seems to be working fine (I can map drives, browse folders, copy files back and forth to clients, run the server through dashboard from a client,
run the server through remote desktop from a client, use remotewebaccess etc. But I can't get ANY of my clients to backup to the server. The connector finds the server, installs on the client and the launchpad runs and says 'connected to server',
but when I try to run the backup, it fails after about 30 seconds and says "can't connect to server"... This is all the same on clients that are Win 7 Home, Win 7 Pro, Win 8.1 pro and win 8.1 home, wired and wireless... Have spent about
a week researching, clean reinstalling, examining router config etc... no luck. Any thoughts or direction for help appreciated. I'm not using storage spaces, and have run drive scans which all show healthy drives (1 SDD - OS, and separate HDs for
files and backups...Status is 'no backups available', and no indication of anywhere to check to start, configure or set a backup. Though I do have the "client computer backup tasks" available over in the tasks panel on the right, but that just sets times for backups to
occur.
The system is backing itself up nightly, but no clients.

Good morning,
I have major problems with exchange 2010 this morning.
First off, exchange stopped sending and receiving any emails- whether internal or external. We are running a server 2008 R2 domain and exchange 2010 is installed on a Server 2008 virtual machine.
I tried simply rebooting the server and then tried logging on and getting into the Exchange Management Console. I receive the following error in the exchange management console:

I followed the steps listed here:

I had the same problem, and I spent a weekend looking a solution, fortunally, I have it:
Please follow this steps:
Install WinRM IIS Extension, adding this feature from Server Manager.
Change IPv4 over IPv6 lookup preference, because the FQDN fails to find the server on TCP/IPv6.
To verify this, on Command Prompt please make this test: ping yourserver.yourdomain.domain.
Maybe you obtain TCP/IPV6 address response.
Probably the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager dont have the binding for IPv6, only for IPv4.
To change IPv4 over IPv6 lookup group prefence, follow this steps:
Please open regedit, locate the skubkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\
On DisabledComponents subkey, double click, change de value for
0x20 (or 4120 Hexadecimal). this value make the Windows OS to prefer IPv4 over IPv6.
Repeat the test, on command prompt:
ipconfig /flushdns (Enter) to flush DNS cache.
ping yourserver.yourdomain.domain.
At this moment you obtain TCP/IPv4 address response.
To check Exchange Managment Console operation, you must restart the server.
Please restart the server.

I am taking "fails with many clients" to mean that the method fails with "certain clients". (At first I thought maybe you meant, "once you have a lot of clients connected, it fails").
This is due to limitations of Web Browsers as FTP clients.
Even within the "standard" FTP world, it is generally accepted that Web Browsers make lousy FTP clients. This is especially true for use of this feature, which is definitely not "standard". Web Browsers make so many assumptions about what to do with a URL that you type in, or how to build the file links to what is found at the destination, that they just cannot make reasonable use of this special feature.
This FTP "remote server navigation" feature was brought over from NetWare. Web Browsers couldn't make use of it then, either.
I expect this navigation feature to work on:
- command line clients
- GUI FTP clients, *if* they allow you to enter an explicit command so you can enter the "cd" command manually, rather than just click to navigate. -

App Server Fails to Start after Installation
Hi,
I've spent a whole day struggling with this, looking through forum discussions and trying out every single suggestion I've come across in the forums. I'm running out of ideas now and really appreciate any help I can get with this problem.
I'm trying to install SJSC2 (also tried with SJSC2u1 with the same outcome) on a new HP notebook (nw9440) running WinXP_sp2. I'm using the default installation done by HP.
My installation path is C:\Java\SunCreator2 (C:\Java\SunCreator2_1 for update 1).
After the installation the App server fails to start up and gives the below error in the server.log.

I've tried every workaround I've seen in the forums such as installing under different paths (both with spaces and without spaces), cleaning all the temporary files in the Temp directory, renaming the productregistry in the windows system directory. Each time I get the exact same error in the install.log.
I also tried installing the stand alone SUN App Server 8.1_02_2005Q2 as well as 8.2. I don't seem to have any issue with this installation or running of the stand alone server at all on the same machine.
Really appreciate any help I can get. TIA....

After spending more time looking through the forum, I came across the below thread which has worked in my case (though it was suggested for Sol10x86).

This is the workaround that worked in my case.
> $ cd <Creator_Home>/SunAppServer8/lib
$ mv processLauncher.xml processLauncher.xml.trayIcon
$ cp processLauncher.xml.bak processLauncher.xml
# If you have a domains/creator/config/domain.xml
$ cd ../bin
$ ./asadmin start-domain creator
This started the app server. After that I was able to start and stop app server within the JSC as well.
Only difference between these two xml files seem to be,
processLauncher.xml.trayicon
<main_class classname="com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain"/>
processLauncher.xml
<main_class classname="com.sun.enterprise.server.PEMain"/>
Possibly pointing to a bug in the "com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain" class.

Deploy to Application Server Failed on a distributed environment
Hi All,
I am trying to configure new Hyperion verion 11.1.2.2 on distributed environment but during configuring calculation manager to application server failed and getting error message like "Deploy to Application Server Failed". I am not sure what is issue and how to fix it. I have tried to read log files but I am not able to undersantd where to look and debug this issue.
My Hyperion Environment over view as a below:-
1- I have used Microsoft VMWARE to build my Hyperion Enviornment
2- I have created 1 window server 2003 domain and made 4 clients of that domain. (All these systems have windows server 2003 installed). I have given name to each client server i.e. System A, System B, System C, System D
3- I have installed SQL 2005 and created databases for all Hyperion components i.e. Shared services, calculation manager, epma on a system A
5- I have installed and configured foundation services and weblogic server on a system B. (In this system I have installed and configured shared services, weblogic, workspace, and able to deploye application server on a same system)
6- On a system A I am able to complete installation for hyperion Performance Management Architect and Calculation Manager and able to finish all type of configuration for these two components but as soon as system trying to configure any related to APPLICATION SERVER services it fails to configure. On a configuration summary page system shows everything is configured but APPLICATION SERVER says FAILED wrtten on a red color letters.
I have explored log files and found that Calculation Manager application server failed to deploy or Deploy to Application server failed.....
Since, I am not sure where to look and how to debug this issue I am requesting to all hyperion friends to help and guide me to debug as I have been trying to install this product since last friday and still no out put....
I will be really thankful if someone share his or her wisdom to help me....

SafiDid you install all the WebLogic web applications on the foundation machine as well as the machine they are going to be deployed to.
"On the machine on which you plan to administer the WebLogic Server, you must install all Web applications for all applications you plan to deploy on any machine in the environment. (The WebLogic Administration Server is installed and deployed on the Foundation Services machine.)"

It has been dramatically changed within Oracle 11.2 though. The 32bit libraries are not coming anymore within the Oracle 11.2 64bit, you have to explicitely install a 11.2 32bit client to make it work with Peoplesoft on Windows. And configure your Peoplesoft installation to work within that 32bit client.
Consequently, if you have all together installed on the same server (Oracle database 11.2 64bit and Peoplesoft), you must have two Oracle homes : one for the 64bit database, one for the 32bit client.

With data folder, You can also delete or rename tmp and cache folder in same location (${DOMAIN_HOME}/servers/${SERVER_NAME}/).
Just rename/delete all three folders and restart JVM again. -
The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination using gmail to share
Up until last week I have been able to share photos in iphoto11 using my gmail account. Now, I get an error message saying that the email server didn't recognize my username and pw combination. I have tried deleting and re-entering the info needed to add the gmail account under iphoto preferences, but it only can send through my icloud account. Is this the only way?
I am using iphoto11 v9.4.2 on my mac OS X 10.8.2.absolutely
IMHO the better option is to use Mail as your e-mail client - set it in the iPhoto preferences

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
