Server install hangs at calendar services

I performed a fresh install of OSX Server following issues with upgrading to version 4.0.3.  Even with a fresh install, the server hangs on "Preparing Calendar Services," and won't move beyond it.  Any ideas?

Hi
You may find following the steps outlined in the 'answer' on this thread helps fix your problem.  The step (to kill one process running during the install sequence) is a lot less invasive than doing clean builds and so on.
Hope it helps.

I was having the same problem and my IT guy just had me do this, seemed to work.  I don't use Calendar Service, if you do it may make it more complicated, but at least it will could be running.
    Rename this:
      /Library/Server/Calendar and Contacts/Config/
      to this
      /Library/Server/Calendar and Contacts/Config.bak
    and this
      /Library/Server/Calendar and Contacts/Data

Do whatever you have to do to restart.

  • Install hangs on Creating Services

    Hi,
after de-installing Oracle XE and trying to re-install XE the installer hangs (well I waited more than 2 hours) on Creating Services...
Got an idea what could be wrong?
Laptop has 2GB of RAM and plenty of free space.
The directory C:\oracle\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\config\log is completely empty and the C:\oracle\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\config\scripts\XE.bat file looks like this:
    @echo off
    TITLE Oracle XE - Configration
echo Adding user to ORA_DBA group...
C:\oracle\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\bin\oradim.exe -ex network useradd ora_dba "ST-USERS\atael" "Oracle DBA Group"

    echo on

This is a known problem on faster machines - there is a race condition around starting and stopping the OracleXETNSListener service. Basically it is started, it binds the port, it is stopped (but the OS doesn't release the port), and then the service is immediately started again, before the OS has released the port. At this point it fails with a 'Port already in use' error message.
One possible workaround is to de-install (and that can be a little difficult, as it didn't complete installation - see a hint below), and then re-install. As soon as it gets to the 'Creating Services' stage, go to Control Panel and manually start OracleXETNSListener. The install should continue at this point.
If this workaround doesn't work, try the install again, but this time try to swamp the CPU with some other processing.
If it hasn't installed enough to de-install via Add/Remove Programs, run the installer again. It will basically try to repair what is there, and will complete the install (but not create a database). At that stage, you should be able to use Add/Remove programs.

  • Oracle VM 3.1.1 server install hangs

    OVM 3.1.1 64 bit
    i7 cpu
    Hi,
I'm trying to instal OVM on n server. But it hangs at different stages. I have searched the web and came across guys that had similar issues and and went ovm 2.2 and passing kernel parameters before the install.
    http://someoracledba.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
I tried that and it installed but it doesn't ask for ip or hostname and lspci | grep -i eth but says unkown device.
I would really like advice either on how to pass the kernel parameters for 3.1.1.

    To update :
I gad to pass installer kernal parameters, and set cpu's to 4 :
    mboot.c32 xen.gzmaxcpus=4 --- vmlinuz apic=bigsmp ---init.img
This worked, but why doesn't it allow 8 cpu's. I have a intel i7 8 core cpu, anyone?

  • Sybase Replication Server install hanging

I have installed the Primary instance, then installed the empty databaseon the standby server. Installed SRS on the standby (without the
configuration) option, then gone back to the Standby and I am now in the process of installing SRS on there (it asks you for the primary and
    standby site and
ports etc) it's happily accepted, but has just hung at the point
mentioned (see screenshot) and it keeps writing the isql64** files
    (where
    ** is incremented number.
    but
I am working from the Primary.
    eg:
    isql64
    isql64.2301
    isql64.2300
    isql64.2299
The install hasn't failed, it's just hanging and spewing out to these files...has anyone seen this before?...Could someone, please, tell me what I'm missing here?!

Thanks!!!   I was going to say that all those isql64* are isql sessions running commands so you aren't "hanging" - it doing something - most likely materializing - doing the dump/load from source to target - but if you post in SRS SCN, there may be some nuances others may be able to help with.

  • Server install, hangs at drive erase

Greetings all - maybe someone out can lend some advice or point me to some resources. I'm installing tiger server on a g4 that was "donated" to our office. The box has the current server package already installed. I want to clean the slate before putting in our network, makes sense right? However, I'm getting the spinning beach ball of death when attempting to erase the drive during installation. Perhaps this is why it as a donation...

Thanks for your help Roger. I tried tried the disk utility as well with the same result. To get beyond this hold up (and although not a fix and I'm still curious why), I used 10.3's drive erase/installation, then installed the 10.4 server, erasing the drive again before installation. I ended the day with a fresh install of the server and a few hours of overtime.

  • Weblogic 5.1 SP8 with JDK1.3 installed as an NT Service Fails

I've just completed the installation of sp8 of Weblogic Server. I used wlconfig to set the environment parameters as outlined in the sp8_readme.html file. I have Weblogic Server installed as a NT Service. When I start the service with Weblogic configured to use JDK1.2 it works just fine. However, when I switch Weblogic to use the JDK1.3, using wlconfig, I receive an Application error stating:"The instruction at "0x04e4d0d6" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be written."If I start the WEblogic Server from the command line and configure the environment to use the JDK1.3, everything works fine. It's only when you are trying to run the Weblogic server as an NT Service.Any suggestions?

I don't think this problem was specific at all to SP8 - I ran into
this with an earlier version of the fixpack and just decided to run it
from the startweblogic.cmd file, instead. I never did try to set the
compiler to none as you did. BTW - it wasn't just as a service that
this problem existed for me - it also happened if you used the program
shortcut to start the server - i.e. any way you started it that used
those registry settings would experience the problem.
How has the stability been under 1.3 - have you seen any problems with
that? I was running with 1.3 and the Sun Server Hotspot VM and the
server kept crashing after just a few pages being displayed from my
site. This problem could have also been the -noclassgc switch though
since with that switch I was still seeing the problem under 1.2 - just
    not as fast.

Seeing as no one has come up with a solution for me, I thought I would at
least post the fix. If you use JDK1.3 with WLS and are running the server as
an NT Service, you will need to set your JAVA_HOME value to the JDK1.3 using
wlconfig, and then set your java.compiler=NONE using
wlconfig -Djava.copiler=NONE. After completing these changes, WLS will run
    as a service with JDK1.3.

  • CalDav Issues: migrating iCal server (10.6) to Calendar (10.9)

We just migrated our 10.6 Server using the migration tool assistant to Mavericks Server. Most of the data migrated smoothly except for the user calendars...
We have all our users running their account as mobile accounts and using the iCal Server service to store their calendars. On our 10.6 server the calendars were store to a specific volume (example: /Volumes/Drobo/iCalServer ). After the migration to Mavericks Server, we activated the Calendar service and then all the calendars for all the users went blank with a default calendar called "calendar"... so it seems we lost all the calendars and events for all the users :-(
How can I restore them? Is there a way to export the calendars from the old server to the new one?
    Thank you.

My impression is that the individual users' Calendars are stored in their individual User Directories on the Server.
    /Users/short-user_name/Library/Calendars/
The actual filenames are impenetrable -- they look like UUID strings.
I did not copy any calendar data around. But when I did my upgrade, I had to re-specify the calendar accounts
(inside Calendar > Preferences > Accounts for each user)
... before it would agree that there was any valid Calendar data anywhere.

  • Can't install os x server 4; stops at "Updating Calendar service" during installation.

After installing Yosemite I bought the new server 4. During installation, the new OS X Server comes to a point "Updating Calendar service" and the nothing happens.

    Hi
Presumably you have 10.4.x client already installed? What version of the client is it? What version of the OSX Installer DVD are you trying to install? Ideally they should be the same. Currently the latest verison of OSX Universal Installer is 10.4.7, ideally the client should be at least that or better still 10.4.8.

    hi all,
I am installing BPC 7.5 on Windows Server 2008, and the install hangs at the Checking Server Components section.  We are utilizing SQL server and Reporting Services on another server.  Any ideas?

When you performed the installation did you run the setp like Administrator?
Into Windows 2008 you have to specify this when you are running any application.

  • OS X Server 4.0 Calendar Service only available on local network

I have a mac mini (late 2014) running yosemite 10.10.1 and installed OS X Server 4.  I set the server up to run over the internet using a domain name that points to my external ip address.
I have the DNS, users, groups, and open directory configured and started setting up the services.  File sharing, Contacts and Calendar all worked great until I tried to set up Messages. I had a problem getting my accounts set up on the client machines. However, the real issue is that the services that worked great had the access status changed from available over the internet at "my.domain" to available on local server.
I have tried many things and I have all the services except one as showing as reachable or available over the internet.  Calendar shows as available on your local network, which is not what I want. How can some services be available over the internet and one other not?
In addition the services that are running, randomly change status between only available locally and available over the internet without changing anything in there server app.

    jepping,
thanks for the reply.  Here is the screen shot you asked for....
This is exactly the same as when all my services worked fine.  I tried adding calendar from this section but if I select 'all users' and 'all networks' the 'OK' button is greyed out. So I restricted the users to those in a group of mine.  This is the screen shot now.
I went to the calendar service to turn it off then on and the access service is still 'available on your local network at server.local
    Thanks.
