Server installation under Yosemite hangs

Does anyone know what to do when the configuration of OS X Server 4.0 on OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) stays at the "Preparing Calendar services" stage during the configuration process?  According to Activity Monitor the application is active and using (minimal) resources however I have left it at that stage for many many hours with no change.  I have shut down my Mac Mini and restarted it and then restarted the configuration process with no difference.

This is a different problem and a different version of Server, but the solution may work for you:

  • SAP DMS server installation Query

    Guys,
I would like to share my plans on DMS server installation under DEV,Quality, prod stage and requesting you all to validate and send me any comments if I am wrong anywhere.
    -        We have 1 external DMS server of (250Gb capacity)
    -     We are now in realization phase, As we know that we have 3 servers namly Development, quality and production server.
    -     In Development Server we do Baseline DMS customization
    -     In Quality server we do Integration testing
    -     There will be as external computer with harddisk capacity of 80 GB,I will Install Content server CD and make that 80GB hard disk as content server for storing the documents, create content repository and store the documents which are to be tested under both development and quality server stage(Note : we can use SAP database for both testing purpose but If we load huge data there,it will slowdown the server drastically)
    -     During the production server install the DMS server (250 gb) and define the content repository config under production server and start storing all the fresh document
    -     Note: Since the tested documents are stored in local PC we can avoid all the tested documents under quality stage only, once the DMS server is installaed in production server we can freshly load the documents.
    -     Note: I knew I have to install twice the Content server cd(once with 80 GB local hard disk and later with External DMS  server)
This is how I planned, I request you to highlight the pain areas by this method else give me the confidence of how I planned?
I appreciate for immediate solution; also how does Kpro comes into picture here.
Points will be rewarded for sure.

    Hi Murali,
As per my understanding you want to keep a Temporary Content Server for your Dev & QA system but a full fledge 250GB Content server for Production.
This is a Good method you are following, i.e. when you go for production you will not have any junk data, you will be loading only fresh data (originals) into it.
There is nothing harm or pain in doing this, only thing is you have re-configure the Content Repository and Category in Production System (SAP).
Your Basis person has to open Production System for doing this Settings (Defining Content Repository and Content Category with Port, HTTP, etc)
Document Area to be ensured in each client at any point of time, Physical machine, IP address, Port etc.
You can maintain a Excel sheet with a following Columns:
<b>Client, Content Category, Content Repository, Document Area, Physical Machine, IP Address, Port.</b>
    For Transaction OACT & OAC0.
    Rest your method is fantastic.
    Best Regards

    Hi,
I'm looking for a customized document for ECC installation (how to document) and not a SAP Standard one as i'm new to cluster. Please share if any.
How to configure the nodes in three tier architecture?
In which node the DB should be installed?
In which node the CI should be installed?
How to configure Central Point of Failure (CPOF)?
How the ECC 6.0 cluster works and how to distribute the resources (SAP) across nodes?
What are the resources that needed for failover from one node to another?

  • MacOS 10.4 Server installation hangs at language selection

When I rubn the MacOS 10.4 Server installer, it hangs at the language selection menu. This occurs regardless of how I start the installer (either by booting directly from the installer DVD or from within MacOS 10.4 client.) The hardware is a PowerMac G4 (Digital Audio.)
    Help!

Are you able to use the same install DVD on another system (you wouldn't need to go through the whole process, just to eliminate that the DVD is defective).
If you are verify that the DVD is good, you still may have a problem with the DVD on the PowerMac you are trying to install on.
Also be sure that the latest firmware for the system you are installing is up to date.

  • CC runs under Mac OS 10.6.8; not under Yosemite 10.10.2

We are on a secure network via a proxy server. Adobe CC desktop app installs and works fine on Win 7 machines and on our older Macs running OS 10.6.8. However, on our new Macs running Yosemite 10.10.2, and the same proxy config as the older Macs and PCs, the CC destop app launches, asks for proxy credentials (which I provide), then goes to the Creative Cloud log in screen. After signing in to CC, it then goes again to the proxy sign in screen, with the previously provided credentials filled in, and just stops. Apple and Adobe tech support were of  next to no help. Since CC works on the Windows machines and on older Macs using the same proxy server set up, I can't figure out what's going on under Yosemite.

RWV you will need to apply the same proxy setting change to Ethernet connection as well.  This preferences I showed are utilized to configure each network connection.
If you continue to face difficulties then I would recommend contacting our support team directly at Contact Customer Care.  If you have a Creative Cloud for Enterprise or Team account then please have your program administrator submit a request.
I would recommend running the log collector tool referenced at Log Collector Tool prior to contacting our support team. Please make sure to also have the all relevant information regarding your proxy server configuration.  This includes the type of proxy server being used and the version you are running.  If you do not regularly have access to this information then I would recommend including the individuals from your organization who do have those details in the conversation.

  • Parental Controls don't work correctly under Yosemite

I'm having some serious issues with Parental Controls under Yosemite, issues serious enough that Parental Controls prove to be worthless under Yosemite as currently implemented.
This is a clean install of Yosemite upgraded to current version 10.10.1.
    Symptoms:
Using the child's account with parental controls active, when the parental control blocks a website, a dialog comes up offering to allow the parent/admin to approve the site and add it to the exceptions list.  This is nice!  Unfortunately, approving the website DOES NOT add it to the exceptions list... ever.   We discovered this when launching Keynote, which kept trying to connect to an akamai.net server (probably an update check).  We would sign in with the admin account to clear the server, then it would pop up with the same dialog box again.  We did discover that I _can_ add the site via the Parental Controls prefpane, but kind of a pain.  Why have a dialog box pop up if it doesn't actually work.
Time limits don't seem to be obeyed at all in Yosemite, child played on his account for 2 hours despite being set to 1/2 hour a day.
Some apps just lock up on launch (I do NOT use any app controls).  I suspect (but can't demonstrate with certainty) that they are accessing blocked websites in the background.  Two of the hanging apps are Pages and Keynote (current versions), apps I would expect to behave properly.
For now, I have disabled parental controls, as they are worthless in this form and just make for a frustrating experience for all.  It has been disappointing that a feature that used to come in handy (mostly the time limits) has become completely worthless now.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Start multiple domains simultaneously on 1 Weblogic server installation?

Is it okay to start and run multiple domains simultaneously. Better yet, when having multiple domains on 1 WLS server, should each domain have a different port number in order to be run simultaneously?
Here's my scenario - I installed Oracle Business Intellgence, which by default installs and configures WLS server for certain Business Intelligence applications (BI Publisher). This instance was running fine and good and still is.
Then I had another application, Oracle Data Integrator, which has a Console piece that requires a domain on WLS. So instead of modifying the existing domain for Oracle Business Intelligence, I created a new domain via the Configuration Wizard and selected those components for Oracle Data Integrator.
    therefore current domains:
...\domains\bifoundation_domain --> installed automatically as part of Oracle Business Intelligence
    ...\domains\odi11g --> I created this domain after I
Now I have 2 domains under 1 WLS Server (windows 7 64bit), but if I startWeblogic.cmd for the bifoundation_domain, and I startWeblogic.cmd for the odi11g...then only the components for the bifoundation_domain become available via the WLS Console.
    Questions:
    - Can I run both domains simultaneously?
    - Should I have modified the bifoundation_domain to include Oracle Data Integrator component; therefore only having 1 domain but having everything run under that domain?
    - Does the Port for each domain matter? both bifounddation_domain and odi11g domain use ports 7001
Are there any other considerations? Thanks much.

    Hi,
It is perfectly OK to run multiple domains on a single Weblogic server installation. Only constraint would be you have enough capacity available on your server to start multiple instances.
Things to note is, if your domain1 is running on listen address : port { localhost : 7001 } then your other domain should be configured on a different port say {localhost : 8001 }. If you want both domain to run on same port then go for virtual IP's to be plumbed on your physical network interface and configure as,
    domain1 - { ip1 : 7001 }
    domain2 - { ip2 : 7001 }
this way you will can access both domain admin console on same port.
Remember, Weblogic resources cannot be shared between domain, however a single nodemanager will be enough to monitor both the domains.
    * rank it if answer is helpful :) *
    Thanks,
    Ranjan

  • Need help with network user accounts on Mac server App on Yosemite, any tips?

I've been trying to set up a small network with the Server app on Yosemite. I don't want to do anything crazy with the server, I'd just like to know how I can set up network user accounts so that they can login from other Mac computers on the same network. I already have Open directory set up, the Macs that will be used on the network with the server have already been joined to the server under login options. I have created the network user account, I have also joined the user account to a group that I created. When I try to login to the network account from one of the Macs, it doesn't work. I'm pretty rookie with Mac server, can anyway give me any pointers of what I should be doing? Or if I am doing something wrong. Thanks guys.

The most important step, once you've got Open Directory and DNS set up, with Local Network Users set up in Server.app, is to make sure that all client Macs are using the server's IP address as the primary DNS server in System Preferences > Network, and that they have joined the Network server in System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Options.
Having said all that, I have just spent hours setting this all up only to find out that Mail doesn't currently work with Network Homes in 10.10.3 / Server.app 4.1.
I will be hoping that Apple recognise the bug, and put out a fix soon.

The problem with J2EE is the support status of the used JDK. Sun does not support 1.4.2 under Vista/Windows 2008, technically it works.

  • Modifying existing BO Server Installation

I've found the following articale warning that any modification made to the base install of a server installation will require any subsequent service packs and patches to be reinstalled after modification.
The article is filed under XI R2 and XI 3.1
Can anyone confirm if this still applies to BI4.0?

    Many Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
I don't see any other way SAP can accommodate this. Let's take an example where we make custom change to a CSS file. How can SAP ensure that their next release (SP or Fixpack) merges their changes (in case if the same CSS is changed) instead of simply replacing the CSS file with the new file.
Alternate option - SAP has provided the SDK to enable the customers to create custom applications that can be managed by us and this custom developed application wouldn't get overwritten.
    Kind Regards

  • BPC7.0 NW Server installation Problem

    Hi,
We installed BPC 7.0NW Server in windows Server 2003 Operating system. Afer installation we tried to start server manager but we are getting "your login id does not have systemadmin rights. you must log on with a user id that has sysadmin privileges" error message. Under server diagnostic tool  we are getting "NO SAP Components found" error message.
we checked sap note  1288692 for "your login id does not have systemadmin rights. you must log on with a user id that has sysadmin privileges" error message and we noticed that during  BPC server installation process system did not prompt us for MSMQ Path as described in point 8 in section 3.3 of install guide and also there is no 'MessageQueue" feild to give message queue value in Serverconfiguration.config file as mention in point 2 of sap note 1288692.
could some one help us to resolve the issue why we are not prompt us to enter MSMQ Path during installation of server.
    Thanks
    UDAY

    Hi,
During the install, you should be prompted for the MSMQ path for sure. If it didnt popup for you then probably you might want to check your install files.
Have you checked the MSMQ path? While installing did you make yourself as the local admin on the .net server? Also have you checked the UJA_SRV_DEFAULTS table to see if the SysAdmin has the proper user defined like domain\user?
If the field MSMQ path is missing from the serverconfiguration.config file then I guess uninstalling everything and doing a clean install would help you. Make sure that this time you get the screen where you enter the MSMQ path. If the screen is still missing then download the new install files from the SMP and try again.
    Thanks

  • Is forms 9i server installation only supporting SSL?

    Frank,
Do you think using html page to encrypt username/password to webserver then verify them, then launch the webforms 6iCGI can reach 128 bit encryption?
Now our situation is to have to put webforms6iCGI deployed to extranet users network. I cannot make it comform to industry username/password encryption standard.
Because even if I use html page thru CGI perlscript to verify username/password and encrypt it to server to check it, then launch the webforms application, then after that webforms 6i is till wide open. It is not in secure mode at all, and our application uses username as global variable thru our application.
If 9iAS form/report server installation is not called
9iAS but called forms/reports 9i server, then I could work on get buying it. But now it is zero possibility to buy it as corporate policy is to use websphere plus DB2/UDB.
People who can sign the paper see the 9iAS, then immediately kill it. I did my best to save webforms plus Oracle database here. Now it is not possible to survive because Oracle policy and our corporate policy both kill them in a harmony way.
Thanks a lot for your best tips.

In a world, Oracle did not put its developement elite members to work on forms/reports now, but it did in the early days, or forms/reports would not be accepted well then. Currently it's going to the worse direction, version changes and availability issues are the proof.
Our management finally decided to kill Oracle forms/reports/Database for our corporate project I am supporting, and made project over-haul plan to use VAJ plus Websphere and UDB. The current forms6iCGI/Oracle database is under transition. I have been doing my best to contact Oracle to move it upgrade, but they don't care. Oracle database deal for our project is pretty much given to us free of charge, they just wanted to put a food in the IBM territory here. They did not make money here, but it helps their market share. Therefore they don't care us to scratch them.
