Server License Assignment

2 SBS 6.0 Servers both at sp5.
My office has been having intermittent login problems ever since I
recovered from a hard drive crash on one of my servers and had to
re-install Netware on one a new drive.
Logging in produces a variety of results, usually to 2 or three
different users every day or so. Sometimes the login window just keeps
re-appearing after a login until a user reboots. Other times there are
messages like "An unexpected error has occurred" or "Connection to the
server was terminated" usually with an 8819 error code attached, which
points to a licensing issue.
Investigating further I find that the license assigned to the previously
crashed server is not being consumed by that server even though it is
assigned to it. I also note that the installed date is back in 2003.
This seems like the original license rather than the one I thought I had
re-installed earlier this summer.

Sorry, didn't see your earlier email. I solved the immediate login
problem. Yesterday afternoon I ran an unattended dsrepair. There were 0
errors but it apparently did not unlock the ds when it was finished.
This morning there was a "Cannot update NDS against an entry within
subnet container: DHCP-Subnet" and " Error (-663) occurred while saving
a backup of the NDPS Manager database files" on the our main file
server console screen. The -663 error pointed me to TID 10015560 about
the DS being locked. I followed the suggestion to run dsrepair once and
that unlocked the server and people were again allowed to login. This
server also shows the proper license consumption again.
So I am back to just the one server with no licesne consumption. I have
not yet capture a pm trace when a person logs in and has tree or server
not found. I will see if I can get that to happen today as I cannot
reproduce the login error every time.
Thanks for your patience.

OK. Is your DS healthy? Licenses are read from DS, so if you have DS
problems, then you will have license problems. As I said earlier: What
does the PM TRACE show when you try logging in?

  • Server stopped assigning licenses

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a bit of a weird issue.  We are using rd web and all of our servers are 2012 R2.  Everything has been going fine until last week when our licensing server has stopped giving licenses to new users.  We got a pack of 150 and 91 have
been assigned up until now.  It has now decided to not give out anymore.
Everyone is still able to use rdweb including new users without any errors or troubles but I am worried this is a timebomb of an issue.  There is nothing in the event logs and the diagnostics show that everything is fine.  I even checked through
powershell and all of our session hosts have the licensing server assigned.
I did some research on my own before this and I tried deleting a key in the registry under grace period but that did not help.  I also found a hotfix but it apparently doesn't apply to 2012 R2.  The servers are all up-to-date with windows patches
as of Saturday (July 5).  This issue appears to have started in late June with no fanfare or warning.  Anyone have ideas?  Thanks so much.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Did you receive any specific error for this issue?
Can you see the older license details which you have already assigned?
If you have RDS per User CAL in your environment then please notice that it will automatically expire after 60 days.
Is your environment in workgroup mode or Domain mode? Please confirm some more things for workgroup mode in RD Licensing server.
    -  In workgroup mode we can use only per Device CALs. So, you should install only Per Device CALs on RDS licensing server.
    -  Per User CAL tracking and reporting is not supported in workgroup mode
Please refer below article to understand for the scenario.

  • Reporting Services Add-in for Sharepoint- does it need an SQL Server license?

In a new project we will be creating an SSRS in Sharepoint integrated mode. For this we'll need SQL Server and Sharepoint on that box.
We'll also have one or more SharePoint Web Front End (WFE) servers. To allow them to connect to the SSRS-in-sharepoint-mode box, and to present the user with the right user interface for doing so, I believe we can install the Reporting Services Add-In for
    Sharepoint on the WFE servers.
The question is, do we need to have  SQL Server license for each WFE server where we use the Reporting Services Add-In, or is it free to use?
We've had advice that we need to buy a SQL Server license everywhere we use the add-in, but I am not sure this is correct.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

    Hello there,
The Reporting service Add-in for SharePoint can be downloaded free on Microsoft Download site. That means it does not need any license on the add-in.

  • Lion Server licensing

    Hi All
I am looking at running Lion server in my small office rather than a windows server. We currently have 5 macs running lion and was thingking of getting a new mac mini with the server software.
I can't seem to find any information on buying the 5 licences I require only a volume amount. Can anyone advise how much and what I need to be buying form my needs.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what you're looking for.
You already have the 5 Lion licenses - they're installed and running on your Lion Clients.
The only thing you need is one Lion Server license to install and run on the server - and if you buy the Mac Mini Server, it comes pre-installed with the Lion Server license.
You don't need any messy client-access-licenses (like under certain other OSes). Mac OS X Lion Server is licensed by the server, regardless of how many clients connect.

  • Get Report of Terminal Server license report

Is there a way I can track our Terminal Server Licenses usage. For example I have bought 50 licenses, are they being used to full capacity or under used. What is the monthly maximum usage. And we have about 10 servers hosting terminal services
in our AD, do I have to generated a report for each ? Is there tool that can do this ? Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
For finding active session on terminal server you can use command as follow.
    query session /server:SERVER2
A user can always query the session to which the user is currently logged on. To query other sessions, the user must have Query Information access permission.
    More information.

  • SQL Server Licensing Information

I want to retrieve SQL server licensing information e.g. License type, Count, License Code etc.
    Any help?

You can find the license type using serverproperty function as shown in the below link, http://sql-articles.com/index.php?page=Scripts/ServerProperties.php
You may also refer these links where Arnie and Madhu have provided useful information regarding licenses.

  • SQL Server License from SAP to use the Business Intelligence Stack

    Hi Sean,
SQL Server license is a very complicated issue. If the tool is given to you in the package, it should be ok to use it. There is no update for the info provided in the blog although it is over 3 years.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

    Hi delaynomore,
According to your description, you fail to execute the function with timeout error after migration to SQL Server 2012. Based on my research, the issue could be due to the long running tasks or uncommitted transactions.
To troubleshoot the issue, besides Olaf's suggestion to check the connection to SQL Server 2012 instance and the stored procedure using SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS) manually, you could also follow the methods below.
    1. Execute that procedure manually using SSMS and check if it takes a very long time to execute and return. For example, there could be millions of rows being updated. If it takes a long time, you can adjust the CommandTimeout accordingly.
    2. Execute the following statement in SSMS to check if there are any uncommitted transactions: dbcc opentran ('yourDatabaseName'). If there are any uncommitted transactions, please change the  stored procedure accordingly to commit the transactions.
For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/spike/archive/2008/07/31/timeout-expired-the-timeout-period-elapsed-prior-to-completion-of-the-operation-or-the-server-is-not-responding.aspx

  • How many server licenses do I need for SharePoint 2013?

I am new to the concept of CAL. I am reading about it. I found this linkhttp://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/101914/how-many-server-licenses-do-i-need-for-sharepoint-2013
Suppose there are 2 users in the sharepoint farm. As per above link we requires 7/8 server license. So my question is do we requires 7/8 licences per user basis (2*7/8) or we requires 7/8 licences once only then we require 2 more licenses for 2 users (7/8 +2)?

    The second option.
If you have 7 SharePoint servers then you need 7 SharePoint Server Licenses.
If you have two people in your company who can use SharePoint then you need two Client Access Licenses (7 server, 2 CAL).
If you had two hundred thousand users who could then you would need two hundred thousand CALs, but the number of server licenses would not change. (7 server, 200,000 CALs).

  • How get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?

    Hi,
I have a RVS4000 router with DHCP enabled and in router mode.
The LAN is 192.168.2.x.  The RVS4000 static IP address is 192.168.2.8
The router is not the RVS4000 and is at 192.168.2.1
The RVS4000 dhcp is assigning it's clients a default gateway of 192.168.2.8 instead of what I want 192.168.2.1.
How can I get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?
    Thanks

Hi Gail, you cannot do this. The router, as the DHCP server will only assign a default gateway of what IP interface the DHCP server runs on. If you have the default IP, the gateway is 192.168.1.1. If you create a second vlan, by default it would be 192.168.2.1.
There are not configuration options for the built-in DHCP server. If you'd like to expand this functionality, you would need an external dhcp server.

  • Error starting HTTP-Server: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind

    Hi.
Anyone know how to configure the Oracle HTTP server within Jdeveloper9i to work?
When I try run a JSP page, I get the following error:
    C:\Oracle9iDS\jdk\bin\javaw.exe -ojvm -classpath C:\Oracle9iDS\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar com.evermind.server.OC4JServer -config C:\Oracle9iDS\jdev\system\oc4j-config\server.xml
    [Starting OC4J using the following ports: HTTP=8888, RMI=23891, JMS=9227.]
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
Error starting HTTP-Server: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind
    Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers for J2EE initialized
Please contact me at [email protected]
    cheers paul

A JVM_Bind error means that the port is already in use. This is an unusual error message to get because JDev scans the ports ahead of time to make sure they are free before launching the server.
Check if you have any processes running that might be holding port 8888. There might be a previous instance of the OC4J server running that hasn't released port 8888 yet. On Windows, at a command prompt, you can use "netstat -a" to see local ports that are in use.

  • Crystal Reports Server licensing

My question concerns Crystal Reports Server licensing.
There is a limit of 20/100 licenses per server and 1 server per deployment. What should I do to implement solution that requires more than that? What does "deployment" mean in terms of licensing?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a question like that.
    Regards,
    Stanislav

You would need to purchase Business Objects Enterprise if you need a scalable solution as far as I know.
You will need to talk to a sales person for a more definitive answer.

  • Error in export license assignment

    Hello gurus,
For legal regulation EAR, I'm checking 3 partner functions for destination country i.e. End user, ship-to & sold-to. I have a sales order with end user in IN (India), ship-to in US & sold-to in SG (Singapore). When assigning an export license (with destination countries as SG, US, IN in the license), I'm getting below error. It allows me to assign the license but after license assignment, the sales order continues to remain blocked. Please let me know why it remains blocked. What exactly is this error message mean?
License is required for country US SG IN (see log)
    Message no. /SAPSLL/CON_CORE243
    Thanks,
    Satish

    Hello Satish,
First of all, the function of 'Check all partner function in the partner group' is enabled per your description. In this matter, the system will only release the document if all the licenses are determined and assigned under the relevant partner country.
Yes, your assumption for not to maintain determination strategy is partially correct, this is not true for the case of function of 'Multiple license type' and 'Check all partner functions in partner group'. For these scenarios, it is not simple that any time system will release the document if one license is assigned to.
Concerning the error message 'License is required for country US SG IN', if you refer to the log in detail, which shows the system were unable to determine the licenses under the license type of country US, SG and IN, please simply maintain the appropriate license determination strategy to force system find the appropriate license type.
Also, it is also interesting to see your comment 'half baked solutions in 10.1', can you also please elaborate more on some of the things you think 'never worked the way they're supposed to'?
    Thanks,
    Derek

  • Do you need to purchase Application Server license for WebCenter Suite?

Before the BEA product merger, WebCenter was sold as a separate license on top of the Application Server license. Now with the new pricing of 125K, does this mean you have to pay for a separate App Server license or is the new pricing included with an App Server license?

Appserver licenses need to be purchased separately

    Hi,
we are trying to search for information about Oracle VM Server Licensing and evaluate the possibility of purchasing licenses.

Actually we got 10 machines with 8 cores & 32GB RAM. We guess with this hardware we should buy the Premier Non-Limited license, is it right? Or is possible to have a Premier Limited licenses with this hardware?
Licensing, is including future updates for Oracle VM Server 3? In the same way, is the Manager support included?
In the other hand, we would like to know if the Oracle Database included with the Manager has a free license for production environments or is strictly needed to purchase a license.
