Server list corrupt?

System Leopard on Powerbook G4 and Mirror Door
ISP AT&T originally yahoo sbcglobal.net
We have had this account for 5 years and have had problems spread over that time with having our "reply to" email be something other than the default [email protected] We have had to verify our email addresses at least annually. A headache but we have managed to keep things working.
Recently, Mail began to fail sending... it would offer a selection of servers we and after several attempts the mail would send and we would receive a Error 553 message. So this is looking like a problem with AT&T? Maybe but maybe not entirely?
I think it may be partly a problem with Mail because we are not having the problem with our laptop... only the desktop and because the SMTP server list looks wrong.
The Connection Doctor shows I have 6 server addresses. In Mail preferences I am only able to see 3. The 6 include 3 that I had deleted many months ago. If Mail is trying to use these, it might explain the problem. I have tried running the applescript Manage SMTP servers... it shows that all are being used... Not so! I think I need to purge every setting Mail ever had and start over. How do I do this? Do I need to save my mail messages to keep from losing them?

because that is an easy solution !
Realy... I try to use the config options before do a hard solution.... I think that may be there are others that need this setup, and can be good that pacman could handle this.....
Today I detect another problem.... The desktop host don't have the share active, from the laptop try to install ruby and first sincronize.... custom can't sincronize (ok) and sicronize the others.....Show me ruby-1.8.0-1 and ask to install.... press enter and fail saying:
:: Retrieving packages from custom...
failed copying /mnt/net/arch/ruby-1.8.0-1.pkg.tar.gz
I never download ruby before, and for what not try with the others repositories ??
The custom repository, custom.pkg.tar.gz, was created from a full abs, not a local one... this is the problem.... May be gensync need an option to generate a custom repository from a directory, the packages have a .PKGINFO that have the dependencies and other data.
I take a look to gensync and I think there isn't problem to add a param to generate from a .PKGINFO instead a PKGBUILD.... I will made a test and post one update here....
But the problem with the repository could be with the online too I think... Pacman may think that all the repositories have the same files, but if one not have one or there is a problem, he try with the next repository ??
c'u and thanks

  • How can I control SMTP server list in Mail?

I've seen a lot of discussion about e.g. deleting servers, but it often includes smug replies like "click the delete button" when there is often no such button. I have found a possible 'get around' to this particular problem by changing the server data to something that doesn't exist, save that, then select the server again from the list and hey presto, there is now a Delete button you can use. But again, that is not the full story because if that server is used as the primary server for any other account, you cannot modify the data.
Not only that, but you CANNOT simply swap servers so that e.g. an account uses one of the other servers as its primary server. Unless I'm missing something major here, it is NOT possible to move servers. You can change the data for the server to be exactly the same as another server, but that just means you now have an identical duplicate. Once a server entry has been created, it is an independent data entity.
So I seem to have several problems here.
    1. A server cannot be deleted if it's in use as a primary for any account.
    2. Servers cannot be moved, i.e. swapped between 'Primary' and 'Other'
    3. Simply editing the server data does not 'merge' it with any other entry that may have the exact same data.
    4. When creating an account, you cannot pick the outgoing SMTP server from the list of ones already created. Simply entering the same data as one that already exists may use that existing server, but may create a new duplicate. I have seen both of these occur and once there's a duplicate, you cannot get rid of it.
I want 3 accounts to all use the same 'Primary' server and also have the same 'Other' server. IOW, only 2 actual servers. After the first 2 accounts are created, that's what I have. Somehow they seem to be able to 'share' the same servers. But when I create the third account and enter the same data for its SMTP server as the others use as their primary (i.e. exactly the same process as when creating the second account), for some reason it does NOT use the existing matching server and I now get a third server created. I simply cannot get around this since whatever I do, each of the duplicates is used as a primary and so cannot be deleted. If I could swap them around so that the third account was using another account as its primary, then I could delete the duplicate and all would be well, but as pointed out above, that's not possible.
I'm hoping that I'm simply wrong about all this and it is actually possible to do what I currently believe it impossible. Can anyone explain how to actually control this server list?

can't edit SMTP server list in Mail
i have exactly the same problem using 10.9.4 - did you ever get a reply?

  • Mail 5 and SMTP server list

    Hi,
ever since my upgrade to OS X Lion, I've noticed that the usage of the SMTP server list in Mail 5 seems to have changed. In the past, said list contained ALL configured SMTP servers. When configuring e-mail accounts (e.g. MobileMe) you could specify a default SMTP server from the server list and check a checkbox to ONLY use the specified server for outgoing mail of an account.
In Lion the meaning of this server list seems to have changed and I think I have discovered a bug that prevents me from using only a specific SMTP server with an account.
For accounts that are supported by Lion and listed under the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" Preference Pane, Mail 5 seems to always use a default server setting for outgoing mail. For GMail, this default server seems to use SSL. However, for MobileMe the default server is not the service's SSL SMTP server.
Sending mail on non-SSL ports is a problem for me for two reasons:
    1.) Obviously this a security/privacy issue.
2.) I'm a student and when logged into my universities network I can't send e-mail on default e-mail ports (25). Our servers block any outgoing e-mail on ports other than SSL/TLS ports.
So far this shouldn't be a problem, because you should be able to overwrite Mail's default server by configuring another MobileMe SMTP server with SSL in the server list and checking the checkbox depicted in the below screenshot.
Unfortunately, whenever I select the SSL enabled MobileMe SMTP server, activate the checkbox and save my changes, Mail will revert to the the default SMTP server without SSL immediately. If I delete the default server from the server list, it pops up again after saving the changes. There seem to be just two ways of sending e-mail using a different server than the default one:
    1. Don't check the checkbox and specify the SMTP server for each e-mail you want to send.
    2. Send using the default server. If sending the mail fails (because I am in my university's network), select the SSL SMTP server in the trouble-shooting popup.
Option one is annoying. Option two still bears the security/privacy problem and is annoying, because it takes ages for Mail to accept that a server does not seem to work.
There seems to be no way of fixing this behavior and I have it on both iMac and my Macbook Air. Is this a bug? Do you have any suggestions for a fix?
    Thanks a lot,
    Felix

    Felix,
I agree, I think it is a bug. My wife is experiencing the exact same issue on her MacBook after upgrading to Lion.
I submitted Mail feedback tonight to Apple. I hope they get this fixed pronto. My wife prefers Mail to the web interface or using her iPhone for mail. Thanks for explaining the issue.

  • 2K8 - Best practice for setting the DNS server list on a DC/DNS server for an interface

We have been referencing the article
"DNS: DNS servers on <adapter name> should include their own IP addresses on their interface lists of DNS servers"
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd378900%28WS.10%29.aspx but there are some parts that are a bit confusing.  In particular is this statement
"The inclusion of its own IP address in the list of DNS servers improves performance and increases availability of DNS servers. However, if the DNS server is also a domain
controller and it points only to itself for name resolution, it can become an island and fail to replicate with other domain controllers. For this reason, use caution when configuring the loopback address on an adapter if the server is also a domain controller.
The loopback address should be configured only as a secondary or tertiary DNS server on a domain controller.”
The paragraph switches from using the term "its own IP address" to "loopback" address.  This is confusing becasuse technically they are not the same.  Loppback addresses are 127.0.0.1 through 127.255.255.255. The resolution section then
goes on and adds the "loopback address" 127.0.0.1 to the list of DNS servers for each interface.
In the past we always setup DCs to use their own IP address as the primary DNS server, not 127.0.0.1.  Based on my experience and reading the article I am under the impression we could use the following setup.
Primary DNS:  Locally assigned IP of the DC (i.e. 192.168.1.5)
Secondary DNS: The assigned IP of another DC (i.e. 192.168.1.6)
    Tertiary DNS:  127.0.0.1
I guess the secondary and tertiary addresses could be swapped based on the article.  Is there a document that provides clearer guidance on how to setup the DNS server list properly on Windows 2008 R2 DC/DNS servers?  I have seen some other discussions
that talk about the pros and cons of using another DC/DNS as the Primary.  MS should have clear guidance on this somewhere.

Actually, my suggestion, which seems to be the mostly agreed method, is:
Primary DNS:  Locally assigned IP of the DC (i.e. 192.168.1.5)
Secondary DNS: The assigned IP of another DC (i.e. 192.168.1.6)
    Tertiary DNS:  empty
The tertiary more than likely won't be hit, (besides it being superfluous and the list will reset back to the first one) due to the client side resolver algorithm time out process, as I mentioned earlier. Here's a full explanation on how
    it works and why:
    This article discusses:
WINS NetBIOS, Browser Service, Disabling NetBIOS, & Direct Hosted SMB (DirectSMB).
The DNS Client Side Resolver algorithm.
If one DC or DNS goes down, does a client logon to another DC?
DNS Forwarders Algorithm and multiple DNS addresses (if you've configured more than one forwarders)

I agree with this proposed solution as well:
Primary DNS:  Locally assigned IP of the DC (i.e. 192.168.1.5)
Secondary DNS: The assigned IP of another DC (i.e. 192.168.1.6)
    Tertiary DNS:  empty
One thing to note, in this configuration the Best Practice Analyzer will throw the error:
The network adapter Local Area Connection 2 does not list the loopback IP address as a DNS server, or it is configured as the first entry.
Even if you add the loopback address as a Tertiary DNS address the error will still appear. The only way I've seen this error eliminated is to add the loopback address as the second entry in DNS, so:
Primary DNS:  The assigned IP of another DC (i.e. 192.168.1.6)
    Secondary DNS: 127.0.0.1
    Tertiary DNS:  empty
I'm not comfortable not having the local DC/DNS address listed so I'm going with the solution Ace offers.
    Opinion?

  • Not able to get Essbase Server list in Office with Smart View 11.1.2.1

Anybody tried Shared Connection in Smart View 11.1.2.1? I am able to connect to but it does not show any servers in the non editable drop-down box. I tried this with Office 2003 sp3, Office 2007 and office 2010 but none of them is working. Also i tried to find out the datasourse.xml file in LWS-aps in shared services console but its not there. i tried the solution given on this link also but the datasourse.xml file is not in place.
    http://timtows-hyperion-blog.blogspot.com/2011/04/smart-view-private-connection-issue.html
    my Environment.
    Win 2003 SP2 32 bit
SQL 2005 on separate windows box
    EPM 11.1.2.1
    Shared Services
    Essbase Server
    Essbse Client
    Essbase Integration
    Provider services
    Essbase Studio
Configured all of the above components successfully.
i'm connecting to Essbase through this URL http://<server>:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders . it shows the login window and allow me to get in. but the drop down box is empty. no server listed.
Please let me know what I'm missing.

I am also getting same problem as gaurav,
I checked,"http://<servername>:13080/aps/SmartView" Analytic Provider Services also running.
instead of Server name i tried localhost, ip address, and computer name.
but still not getting anything in drop down, even "Add New Server" Option also.
I thought this may be because Analytic Provider Services was configured after Shared Services. But for that i followed the steps:
    1. Stop the Analytic Provider Server and Foundation Services.
    2. Open the EPM System Configurator through Start -> All Programs -> Oracle EPM System -> Foundation Services -> EPM System Configurator.
    3. Expand Hyperion Foundation and only tick the option 'Deploy to Application Server'
    4. Click Next through the Configurator until complete.
    5. Restart the Foundation and Analytic Provider Server Services.
    6. Open Excel, connect to the Shared Connections.
    But problem Continuous.

  • Process scheduler server list is not populating in SERVER LIST page.

    Need urgent help.
We have PeopleSoft Campus Solution 8.52,9.0 application. We had two Process Scheduler server one in Linux and one in NT. There was one issue that all the jobs which processed were getting into success and reports were also posted, however it was not updating the database with data. In order to solve it I created a new Process Scheduler server at onther NT machine. This time when I navigated to Process Monitor --> Server List pages it has no data there. I ran COBOL job but it went to successful and report posetd but nothing was updated into the database.
Please help me out of this situation.
    Thanks
    Vikrant

Thanks a lot RCC for your response.
    There is actually three issues
1)Process Monitor Server List page has no data.
2)As I go to run a process in the system process request I see that the Server Name,Reccurence,Type and Format are not workin or they are disabled.
3)Cobol jobs which I am running through PSNT is not updating database, however the Process is getting successful and reports are having posted status, but when I go to see Reports it is not having any output file its blank.I tried to check the reports at webserver, there were also no reports were published,However it works properly for all other Process.
For the first problem it has got resolved the solution is in this "Process Monitor Server List Not Populating With Data (Doc ID 615323.1)"( for those who face this problem in future :)).
For your query RCC, I have named same name of PSNT which was earlier in the different machine.
    Please help
    Thanks

  • Adding non-local NAS to Windows Server 2012 R2 (Essentials Enabled) Server Listing

Okay, I'm new at this, so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. In short: I'm running WS 2012 R2 (with the Essentials role installed) and the sever is connected to a network that also has a Linux-based NAS (a D-Link DNS-323) connected
to it. I want to be able to add the NAS server to the server listing (in the server manager) with the ultimate goal of making the NAS files available remotely through the WS Remote Web Access (RWA).
Here's the long description of my problem: I'm trying to set up a remote access point for me and my family so we can access our documents and media when we are not on the local network. The NAS comes with a built in FTP server, but FTP is not secure enough
for my needs. A lot of the people that will be accessing my home network remotely are not very computer savvy, so I need to make it as easy as possible to access and use (ie. I don't want the end user to have to install/code anything on their machine to be
able to get to the home files). Ideally this would be the RWA interface, with its simple login screen and GUI. I have set up the RWA, so now the only problem is making the root of the NAS a visible file on there. I have the NAS as a network (mapped) drive
on the server, so the server can 'see' the NAS, but I don't know how to make it 'seen' in the RWA.
Any ideas? Is setting this up even possible? If so, how would I go about doing it? If not, does anyone know of a good workaround?

    Hi,
In general, if the NAS files are local, you can create shared folder on the server in Remote Web Access and then upload the NAS files to the folder.
However, according to your description, it seems that the NAS files are not local and I am afraid that you may cannot achieve that in Remote Web Access.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Weblogic Plugin Configuration Problem -- no more in server list

HELP! Has anyone seen anything like this before. What we are seeing
is that the plugin sporadically sends requests to the wrong weblogic
instance. When it sends it to the wrong instance we are seeing the
following in the wlproxy.log. Like I said, this happens sporadically.
Sometimes it will work just fine for an entire transaction. Does
anyone know what the "no more in server list" means. We've had bea on
the phone for the last 12 hours and they haven't been able to help us
up to this point. If I need to send any more information please let

This one sound stricky. Have you checked all the usual suspects:
-same cookie name in WB-INF/weblogic.xml and the cookiename set in
plugin settings (defualts to JSESSIONID in 6.x)
-network errors between web servers and WLS servers
That utility can be invaluable in solving problems like this.I have seen
session settings cause sessions to be lost, but never the message you
are talking about. Try turning on the "DebugConfigInfo" setting and see
what the "?__WebLogicBridgeConfig" page can tell you about your
settings, what server list it is using and what servers are
primary/secondary. One tip, you need to hit the WLS server one time, and
then use the "?__WebLogicBridgeConfig". Until it communicates with the
WLS server, it can only tell you it's own settings and not any
information about up servers and primary/secondary assignements. Also
look to make sure each server in the "Server List" has a blue ":OK" next
to it to signify the plugin can see them.
Hope that can help, though I am not sure they will deal with the problem
you are seeing. Make sure you post the outcome to this issue, I will be
              very interested in seeing it.

  • Potential dynamic server list updating problem in cluster

We are running a cluster of four Windows 2000 Server boxes under WLS
6.1SP2. We have seen the following behavior in our cluster. We shutdown
a cluster member and then bring it back up. When it comes back up, the
IIS plug-in seems to start routing all requests to that new server.
Out cluster seems to have some multicast connectivity problems, e.g. we
often cannot see managed servers on the admin. console, etc. What I'm
wondering is whether the server when it comes up could be telling IIS
that it is the only cluster member because it isn't aware of any other
members. This would explain the plug-ins sudden affinity for the new server.
Is this possible? Has anyone seen this?
              Thanks in advance,
              Coty
P.S. The box that is being restarted and then hogging the requests is
also the server where the admin. console is running. Could that be the
issue? What exactly are the implications of running a managed server and
the admin. console on one box?

Is it that the admin server is also part of the cluster and is the server
              that is being restarted?
Try to have the admin server for purely administrative tasks and not as part
              of a working cluster.
If you have Debug set to ON in the plugin end, try checking the server list
              http://IISServer:port/dummyQuery?__WebLogicBridgeConfig
This should return the dynamic and static server list that the IIS proxy is
              supposed to forward.
Check before restart and after restart.
Also contact support to get the newest ISAPI plugin that contains latest
              fixes.

  • Cannot edit outgoing SMTP server list in mail.app

Did a fresh install of Snow Leopard on a new 13" Macbook Pro unibody and was trying to add an IMAP email account. After failing to connect, I was trying to specify the outgoing port and realized that I could not edit the outgoing SMTP server list.
    Steps to reproduce error:
    1. Open mail.app
    2. Go to Mail > Preferences
    3. Select "Accounts" tab and select any mail account
    4. Select "Account Information" tab and click Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down menu
    5. Select "Edit SMTP Server List..."
After that point the instead of opening the list of servers with their settings, it simply returns to the "Account Information" screen. I'm a bit confused because I've never had this happen before in any other version of mail app. I cannot edit or delete any outgoing mail server accounts because of this. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

This should not happen. Had you migrated back to the fresh install the Mail folder in User-Library? Or is this a clean setup? I would go to User-Library-Preferences, and drag the com.apple.mail.plist to the trash, then open Mail and try again.

  • CIFS on OES2SP3 not registering as server on WINS server - Unable to obtain server list from CIFS server.

Running OES2P3 cifs on SLES10SP4. This server is on it's own subnet
connected via a router to the other subnets, with the rest of the
servers. Name resolution and CIFS file access does work, but browsing
does not work. I found that the server registers the workstation
service with the WINS server, but not the server service. Adding a a
static WINS entry enables netbios name resolution. But due to the
unability to obtain a server list from the CIFS server (a packet trace
shows, that the request for the server list from the OES CIFS server is
answered by the server with an unspecified server error) browsing does
    not work.
Is browsing supported by OES2 CIFS like it is in SAMBA or does it need
another server as browser to allow browsing to work?

Okay, then we have the same knowledge status in that area.
I'll try to open a SR on this question.

  • SMTP server list empty

    Hello all,
After the latest update (10.10.3 Supplemental Update) and restart, the SMTP server list from my Mail is completely empty.  Is there any way to get this back without having to reconfigure all my accounts?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nishita.

Having the same problem here - were you ever able to resolve the issue?

  • Hostname in Server List

In the process scheduler -> process Monitor
    server list
I find the servers from the production environment listed in the development after the clone
Is there some way to ensure these do not come to development as part of the database clone?
Right now i am having to suspend the server manually
I was wondering if there was some procedure to register the servers like in e-biz
    a. execute fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean
    b. run the autoconfig utility
    Thanks
    Cyril

Just a thought, would it be possible to copy the servers across using application designer using the Servers definition type? This probably isn't ideal because you would most likely want to script the environment refresh process, but as a once off, it might be a good workaround without having to figure out which PeopleTools tables need updating.
What I was thinking is that once you configure the correct servers in your development environment you could put them into a project and export to file. Then after a refresh you could import them back from file?

  • Weblogic plugin server list is empty

    Hi,
We setup apache2.2, weblogic8.1sp6 and mod_wl_22.so on AIX. When started, it is working fine but after a couple of hrs (sometimes minutes), the weblogic serverlist (weblogic cluster lis/general server list in weblogicbridgeconfig) will be lost. The logs on wlproxy is below.

    Hi,
    It seems you're using virutal host in place of Load module. Anyhow I have a couple of notices;
    - which JDK you've on your AIX server
    - Did you add LoadModule to your Httpd.conf
    - You a couple of parameters which are not known to me for example
    WLLocalIP z.z.z.,
    I put virtual host parameters as following;
    Location /WEBAPP>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicCluster Hostname:7003,HostName:7004
    </Location>
After these changes try to restart Admin Server & ManagedServers.
    Hear from you,
    Respectfully,
    Hamdy

  • Why does the server list in mail not contain the details of the icloud server

When I check the preferences in mail for my email accounts, the icloud smtp server called "iCloud (iCloud)" shows as a choice for the outgoing server. When I click the drop down box there it's in the list. If I then click edit server list the next dialogue box that comes up shows all the possible outgoing servers except the icloud one. Does this mean that the account for my .icloud address will not use the icloud smtp server even though on the account dialogue it shows as being selected.

It does not mean that, the Apple server will be used if you check 'Use only this Server'
