Server.log full with oracle.ons.notification junk

Hello Forum...
I'm pretty new to orion application server - I see my OC4J server.log is over 50 MB! - full with this kind of entry that updates ever 30 seconds:
" 08/05/02 09:27:56.899 Send notification:
oracle.ons.Notification@187a9d6 "
Despite searching around on this forum, I've still no idea what it means, and how to prevent it logging like crazy.
Any help greatly appreciated.
thanks
/j-p.

Sorry, don't know the answer off the bat for this one. I've seen it myself so I know what you refer to. It looks a little like a server trace log that is being emitted. If it wasn't for the size/frequency of it, you could safely ignore it -- it simply means that OC4J is responding to OPMN events to inform it that it is still alive.
If you can, I'd think about opening a support tar for this and see if there is an existing fix, or if not, get a bug logged to get it fixed.
I just had a look and can see in the code where its occurring and it should be trivial to fix it. I'll log a bug for it so if you do raise a TAR the details will be known to the support analyst. The bug # is 7132128.

  • Problems setting up Weblogic Server 9.2 with Oracle AQ

    We are in the process of upgrading from WLS81 to WLS92 and I'm currently trying to set up the environment. We have applications communicating with 3 different JMS-servers; Sonic, WMQ and Oracle AQ. For both Sonic and WMQ the connection seem to work fine. We get an active application, and the beans connecting to queues on those servers reports as 'connected'.
              For Oracle AQ I must be doing something wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.
              Our setup is as follows:
              We have a domain-scoped startup class that binds the AQ-queues and a custom QueueConnectionFactory to the WL default context. Giving them a name like aqadapter-AQ_ARE_PING.
              We have defined a System Resource, within which we have defined AQ as a Foreign Server. Within this foreign server we have each queue mapped to the queue-names bound through the Startup class. Likewise we have a qcf mapped to the qcf bound through the startup class.
              The application contains message-driven beans which are supposed to be listening to the AQ-queues. In weblogic-ejb-jar.xml each target queue is mapped within each bean to the same name mapped within the Foreign Server element.
              All this results in MDB's that report as 're-connecting' and 'initializing' and the following message in Server1.stdout for each MDB:
              <Mar 28, 2007 4:27:58 PM CEST> <Warning> <EJB> <BEA-010061> <The Message-Driven EJB: ARE_Ping is unable to connect to the JMS destination: AQ_ARE_PING. The Error was:
              javax.jms.InvalidDestinationException: JMS-125: Invalid Queue specified>
              Any ideas what I am doing wrong? It seems to me that all the settings are as similar as the way they are set up on WLS81 as we could get them.
              Anyone reading this that have done this before? Setting up WLS92 or WLS90 to interact with Oracle AQ?
              Regards,

    Hi Frode
              Have you managed to find a solution to this issue?
              We are trying to do something very similar and encountering all sorts of issues.
              Are you using the DIPSStartup classes to register your queues & qcf with the WL JNDI? I haven't managed to get these classes to work with the AQJmsSession in the latest release of the aqapi13.jar files.
              Hopefully we can sort out a workable solution between us :)

  • Small Business Server 2003 Compatibility with Oracle 10G, licensing?

    Hello all,
    Is Windows SBS 2003 compatible with Oracle 10G, I looked at the compatibility and didn't notice it but I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with the two.

    The licensing isn't by cpu slots, it's by the number
    of cores times a multipier, which I believe for intel
    is .5, so if you have a cpu w/ 2 cores, you would
    purchase a 1 cpu license. If you have a quad core
    cpu, you would need to purchase a 2 cpu license. I
    would definitely talk to your sales rep about this to
    make sure the multipier is right (and if it has
    changed w/ intel quad technology).Thanks Jim. The multiplier used above for Intel is indeed correct. However, Oracle has (in the last few weeks) introduced the term 'socket' into it's licensing metrics as follows:
    "When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard Edition in the product name, a processor is counted equivalent to an occupied socket. See http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/technology-price-list.pdf "
    To quote another source (CRN):
    "..Standard Edition was licensed for servers with up to four single-core processor cores. For multicore chips, users could only license it for up to eight cores total. Oracle's formula was to multiply the number of cores by 0.50 to get the CPU license number to determine price. So a four-core box counted as two CPUs.
    Now Standard Edition can be licensed on servers with up to four sockets, or four processors running one-, two- or four-core chips (and possibly a higher number of cores)." This source overlooks to mention that the multiplier relates to Intel!

  • "Server Message The Server is unavailable" with Oracle PreBuilt VM

    I've downloaded and installed the Oracle Pre-Built VM for the Hands On Development located here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/downloads/owcs-portalfw-vbox-284132.html
    It WAS working for a while but it seems that an update to Oracle Virtual Box or the Extension pack started to cause the error intermittently at first and now I get the error all the time. When I start the severs using the VMCTL menu option I get an error in the log files. The root of the problem seems to be:
    Caused by: weblogic.jdbc.extensions.ConnectionDeadSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceDeadException: 0:weblogic.common.ResourceException: Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

    When I go into the WebLogic Server Console it shows the UCM server as "up" but when I try to access it via
    http://127.0.0.1:16200/cs I get the message
    =============================
    Server Message_
    The Server is unavailable.
    Please contact the administrator of this site to report the problem.
    Click here for server process administration.
    ===================================
    If I click the link I get a http 404 error.
    Everything is just as it came out of the pre-built VM with no tweaking. I've compared my network settings to a colleague who has the same VM and our network settings are exactly the same. Enable Network Adapter is checked. Attach To is set to NAT. No port forwarding is being done.
    I'm running on Windows 7 with 8GB of memory in case that's important as well.

    The database is up. I use the VMCTL options and select the options from there. I've also tried starting the items individually just in case those scripts were messed up. Regardless of what is started or how I start it, I get the same error.
    I can't emphasize enough that I downloaded this a while back and it worked. I went through the Hands On Labs in there and somewhere along the way the extension pack and then the Oracle VM got updated. It's at that point that things started misbehaving. I have since uninstalled, reinstalled, redownloaded, etc. and it just seems to be broken now.

  • Where to locate HTTP Server for use with Oracle Express 10g and Apex?

    Hello,
    Im a newbie and I downloaded oracle express 10g and Apex 3.2.1. The Apex install is referencing "choosing a HTTP Server" specifically "Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql and the embedded PL/SQL Gateway". My question is do the HTTP server or PL SQL embedded Gateway come with the 10g install or do I need to download them seperately? If so where can I locate them?
    Thank you!

    user12027813 wrote:
    If using Oracle XE, then which APEX install scenario would I used if I downloaded both the XE and apex from the OTN?Oracle XE includes APEX 2.1 and uses the PL/SQL Gateway for HTTP service work. No separate HTTP Server is required.
    If, after you install XE, you want to upgrade to APEX 3.x, you would select the PL/SQL Gateway for the upgrade.
    If the PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) does not provide the full set of services you need, you could put a regular Apache in front and redirect to APEX for those specific issues.
    If that is to complicated, then you could license Oracle Application Server Standard Edition 1 (for a fee) to get an Oracle HTTP Server and it's mod_plsql to replace the internal EPG.

    If yes then HOW ??

    Fahad

    I have been with 2 clients that have used Exchange Server 2003 for processing Workflow Notifications for multiple 11.5.10.2 with ATG.H RUP 4 instances. I have found that Exchange will frequently take 4 hours to send notifications and 2-4 hours to process notifications that are replied back to it. Outbound messages generally fail with 451 Timeout waiting for client input errors, but finally send after about 4 hours. If you doing a live demo that needs to make use of Workflow Notifications, plan on waiting and waiting and waiting...

  • How to configure sun application server 8.2 for Oracle RAC 10g

    Hello,
    We have numerous boxes running the sun platform application server 8.2 and 2 boxes running enterprise version 8.2 all connecting to a 4 node Oracle RAC 10 G release 2 database. We have the system up and working. The application servers are connecting just fine to the database and the apps don't have any problems querying, inserting, etc. However, when we try to do failover testing of situations when a node or nodes of the Oracle RAC database goes down the application server does not gain new valid connections. Our configuration is this, OracleDataSource for the data source, table validation turned on with a valid table, ONS configuration set in properties, connectionCache enabled, and fastconnectionfailover enabled as well in the properties. We have that long oracle rac url with load balancing turned on set fot the database URL. We have the checkbox checked to fail all connections on any failure. ONS is configured properly within the database because we have a java application that runs outside of the application server that uses all the same settings described above (only set manually in our code for the OracleDataSource). This application works seemlessly when DB nodes are shutdown. We can shutdown all but one node and it's still humming along without skipping a beat. Start up one of the others, kill the last node, it still hums along nicely without skipping a beat. We'd really like to get the applications running in the application server to work the same way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've tried all the combinations that we can think of with configuration settings in the application server and it never works. Am tempted to rip out the database connection pool from inside the application server and configure it manually in the code but we are using entity beans and this is the much easier approach, if it will work. It's down to the point of does sun application server actually work with oracle RAC for connection failovers.

    Hi,
    We are also facing similar execption. Here is the error, we are getting, when a node is failed on RAC.

    With Filemon one can see the correct sqora32.dll and tnsnames.ora are used. The directory of Instant Client 11.1.0.7.0 is in the beginning of the PATH.
    The machine is very slow. There are high timeout values:
    SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT = 300
    SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_[LISTENERNAME] = 300
    SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT = 300
    SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT = 300
    The error message I get when trying to log on with the application (which has been used with Instant Client 10.1.0.5):
    IM006: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
    is the same which is thrown out when the tnsnames.ora or hosts file are not found.
    The error message remains the same when the host ip is used instead of the host name in the tnsnames.ora file. The host ip can be seen in the trace file.
    Comments will be much appreciated,

    Looks like this is some thing to do with MS ODBC driver manager related.
    couple of times I had faced similer issue, once my connection string was wrong and another time using user DSN instead of system DSN worked fine.
    Also, check @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822841
    Hope this helps!
