Server migration batch domino to exchange?

We are going to migrate Lotus Notes domino server into exchange 2010 server, can anybody give some guidelines or tips……to be followed etc. propose me which is better migration solution for this.

@steve: Exactly you should prefer microsoft or ibm or any exchange forum to know more about the migration project. Anyway I am elaborating the desired need as per my experience. There is a Exchange Domino connecter provided by microsoft. Using that, you can sync both and copy the domino mailboxes into exchange but all these needs sheer expertise, numerous setting and rights. The process of domino to exchange migration can be also acomplished through email migration tools. I know an application for same migration process that is mail migration wizard. I had used it previously. It provided 4 migration option with numerous filetrs those made our migration very customized.
Batch Lotus Notes to Outlook migration
Batch Lotus Notes to Exchange Migration
Domino to Exchange MIgration
Domino to Outlook Migration
Such migration needs accuracy and security so I would like to prefer an automated tool. You may reply on mail migration wizard.

  • IBM Domino to Exchange 2013 Migration question

I've been tasked with looking into migrating our company of 5500+ Domino users to Exchange 2013.  Currently, my Domino servers spread across the county and not all in one location.  Is there a document/guide that can help me get an understanding
on what type of environment I can take my hub/spoke Domino environment to in Exchange?  Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    hi Hoss,
I have done couple of Migrations from Domino to Exchange Migrations and pretty familiar with this. For this to happen, you have to use a third party tool like Quest or Binary Tree.
Since you said, 5500+ users, I would recommend you using one of the quest or binary tree tools to assist you with this migration. The key to the migration is the design and planning phase.
I am familiar with Quest tools and will give you as much as i know but I am sure every other tool out there is pretty similar in terms of functionality.
you have to purchase Quest licenses and for quest to be installed on your server, you have to go through Quest Professional services or a Quest approved vendor. You cannot install Quest on your own - this is a small drawback that I personally think.
While your Quest servers are being setup, you have to plan out your Exchange server design and for a 6000 user mailbox, you wont have a big of a deal. I need the hardware information that you have purchased for the Exchange servers? are you going
to go physical or virtual? I need to know the user message profile in your existing domino environment (how many emails sent/recived /size per day/per mailbox)? I also need your inputs on how many servers are you planning with Exchange 2013 in total (all roles),
Do you need single item recovery? Do you have any storage contrains? and a 100+ questions. If you get me the answers for what I asked, I am willing to help you with the design fo Exchange 2013.
    Re: Domino:
What version of domino are you running? What is your max mail file size? how many mailboxes (person documents) how many mail-in databases? how is your user account provisioning currently designed? and so on. user account provisioning could be a challenge
because you have to introduce a 3rd party app like FIM or CA's User Management apps to work between your Domino and Exchange (during the time of coexistence) and there is a lot to it.
    All the best!
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Regards, Siva

  • Domino/Exchange Server Migration NSF to PST Clients also

Domino and Exchange should require when we execute client migration NSF to PST?  Or it should be connected or disconnected? If I migrate domino server into Exchange could data will remain same, I understand the process but unsure which type of tool I should prefer to execute this task. Clear my doubts if anybody knows about it. If I am wrong correct me. And provide the solution for the same.

For minor migration like clients Lotus Notes and Outlook, server does not required, In this procedure, you must shut down the same time services; you must leave the clients running so you can access databases. For server migration server are running at the same time when you perform migration into Exchange.
To migrating Domino to Exchange there are many trustworthy companies available “SysTools” is one of them you can prefer its Mail Migration Wizard Software for the same.

  • Migrating Public Folders on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 to Exchange Online\Office 365

    Hello,
Our company is looking to migrate from Exchange 2007 on premises to Exchange Online/Office 365. We have a number of public folders on our exchange server that function similarly to how the new shared mailboxes work in Exchange Online. That is to say that
we have many outside users (customers and wholesale dealers) emailing this public folder ([email protected]) and our end users are given permission to view and respond as themselves ([email protected]). I've been looking all over but haven't found a clean
way to migrate the current public folders directly into shared mailboxes. I'd just start from scratch, but we want to keep the records of the emails we've received at these public folders for customer support reasons. Can anyone help?

    Hi psh8989,
According to your description, I know that you want to migrate public folder from Exchange 2007 to Office 365.
Since Office 365 is different from Exchange On-Premises, I suggest ask Office 365 Forum for help so that you can get more professional suggestions. For your convenience:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/default.aspx
However, I can also share some information for your reference : )
Based on my knowledge, Exchange supports moving your public folders to Office 365 and Exchange Online from Exchange 2007 SP3 RU10 or later. I notice that your Exchange server version is SP1, please upgrade to SP3 RU10 first and perform migration.

  • Local migration batch hangs on 'syncing'

I create a migration batch for one user to move from one mailbox database to a different one. All servers Exchange 2013 build 712.24.
The current and the target mailbox database are in a DAG. The migration batch hangs on 'syncing' and nothing happens. All database in DAG are fine (healthy and content index healthy). Nothing helpful in application logs" migration statistics with report
    show
[ExchSvr2013] Job resumed with status 'Queued'.
    [ExchSvr2013] Relinquishing job.
ExchSvr2013 is the server with the active copy of the target database.
The only other thing I see is this from the migration statistics:
    PercentComplete                        : 0
    CompletedRequestAgeLimit               : 7.00:00:00
    PositionInQueue                        : 1/1 (Position/Queue Length)
    InternalFlags                          : WordBreak
    I did apply http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2807668 (ContentSubmitters)
I did restart MS Exchange Replication and Search service.
Since I have no further error information I would ask for some advise how to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Double prompts for Exchange 2013 migrated users: "The microsoft exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook"

I have Exchange 2010 SP3 in my environment and am migrating to Exchange 2013. Whenever a mailbox is migrated, the Outlook 2013 client will prompt the user with a "the exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to restart
Outlook". When the user does so, he or she is prompted again. After he or she closes and reopens Outlook for the second time, the issue is gone permanently.
I've seen a number of other posts about repeated prompts like this but I haven't yet found one or someone gets exactly 2 prompts for each client and no more.
A couple of pieces of information that may be relevant:
    1. On exchange 2013, the authentication method for the internal host name is NTLM
    2. I have not yet migrated public folders from Exchange 2010. I plan to do that after the mailbox migration is complete.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
From your description, after mailboxes are moved from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, users receive the following prompt when opening Outlook.
The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook.
In order to solve this issue, you need to apply the Outlook update that is described in KB 2863911.
    For your reference:
Outlook 2013 cannot connect after an Exchange Server 2010 mailbox is moved to Exchange Server 2013

  • New global administrator account, same migration batch

I am currently performing a cutover migration from Exchange 2010 to Office 365 using an Outlook Anywhere migration endpoint. I have created the migration batch using a global admin account in my cloud tenant, let's say the name is "Cloud Global Admin
A" and primary address is "globalA@..." . Unfortunately on my Exchange, one of the users was already called "globalA", so when the batch started going through all the users which it has to migrate, it found said conflict and will not
    migrate the user mailbox "globalA".
I was thinking of creating another global admin account called "Cloud Global Admin B" with primary address "globalB@...". I will then delete the cloud user globalA and purge it from the removed users section, then stop and resume the migration
batch and it SHOULD be able to migrate the Exchange mailbox of globalA.
    So I have two questions:
    1. Since I created the migration endpoint and batch using "globalA", will it make a difference if the user account is deleted and I continue managing the migration with a new global administrator?
    2. Will the above mentioned workaround allow the "globalA" Exchange mailbox to be migrated?
    Thanks!

The "globalA" user is likely tied to the migration endpoint, so you'll want to create a new endpoint for migration batches moving forward.  Make sure you force a DirSync (a couple of times) to clear out the original account from the metaverse,
and that should all you to migrate the user.

  • BW Steps before and after R3 server migration

    Hi Friends,
We are using ECC6 and BW 3.5.
My client is going for R3 server migration, yes it's just a migration of server and not any upgrade. This server is quite old so migrating to a higher end server.
BASIS will do a system copy during downtime i.e. a homogeneous client copy where they would just copy the DB tables. As per them all data will remain same and only the IP will change i.e. i will have to make a change in R3-BW RFC connection.
I need to know what other pre and post migration steps are involved in this case?
    Thanks,
    BJ

    Hi,
I dont think that there would be any impact on queues etc due to server migration. We flush out data from queues only in cases of upgrade/ patch application etc. because there is a chance that after the upgrade the structure of datasource may change. In that case, any data lying in queue beforehand would get corrupted and cannot be loaded.
in your case, there is no such change going to happen, therefore no need to worry about queues. You can go ahead without worrying about any dataloss due to queues.

  • Server Migration

I'm having a problem setfing up migration on my Managed Servers on Welbogic 9.2 mp2. First, My problem.
When I try to manually migrate ManagedServer1 from MachineA to MachineB:
    Nodemanger shutdowns ManagedServer1
Nodemanager removes the interface with the floating IP (so far so good)
(here is where the problem starts)
Nodemanager brings up the interface back on MachineA
Nodemanager starts ManagesServer1 on MachineA (all this is suppose to happen on MachineB).
This doesn't help me if it migrates it to the same machine!!!
I quick overview of how things are set up.
    1) I have two machines, MachineA and MachineB running Solaris 10
    2) I have the admin server running on MachineA listening on the static ip of 139 and ManagedServer1 listening on the floating IP of 169 (fyi, don't want give out IP, so I made a number up)
    3) I have ManagedServer2 running on MachineB with the floating IP of 170.
    4) I created a weblogic user that has ssh trust config between the two machines and has the proper authority to create and bring down an interface.
    5) Created 2 Unix machines, Type SSH with the shell command ssh -l legalint -o PasswordAuthentication=no -p %P %H /opt/bea/weblogic92/common/bin/wlscontrol.sh -d %D -n /legalint/mtdom/ndmgr -c -f startManagedWebLogic.sh -s %S %C
    6) Network Time Protocal Config is set
    7) Lease database schema is created with corresponding data source and has two tables ACTIVE and ACTIVE_MT
    8) Server migration progerties configured: cluster datasource is set (In my directions it tells me to leave the Canidate machines blank). Managed servers auto migration set to true and primary and back-up machine set and auto-restart set to true.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Tom.

The best way to deal with certificates and FQDN's in ZESM is to use commercial issued certificates or from the company's internal CA. Don't use the built-in product self-signed certificates under any reason for production deployments. The reason behind that, is that the internal ZESM certificate has its private key marked as non-exportable. So you'll not be able to export it from one server and move to another.
For the server FQDN, create an A or Alias record in DNS to something like: "zesm.company.com", and point it to the actual ZESM server, that way, once you need to move all users from server, all that you need to do is to import the commercial certificate and point the DNS record to the new server IP Address.
I did a couple of deployments in that way, with no issues.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
planning the upgrade to the imminent release of ZESM 4.1 we would like
to reinstall the server because it has undergone many installations.
For security reason and for don't stop production we want to install
ZESM 4.1 in a new server with the same ip and name of the actual then we
want try It in a test VLAN.
    My question is:
when we want to pass the new server in production or before ZESM
instalation could we migrate the IIS certificate from the old server to
new one? so the client should not be involved.
    Thank you for help

  • 10.3 Whole Server Migration

    Hi,
I need some enlightenments from all. Here is my setup (in Windows 2003 R2)
2 physical Server, PS A, PS B (PS: physical server)
PS A contains, 1 Admin Server, 1 Managed server
PS B contains, 1 Managed Server
I've done the necessary clustering setup and tested its working, using node manager (nmenroll, conseus, etc). now what I'm trying to perform is to try out whole sever migration.
I've found out the script, wlsifconfig.cmd (found under %wls_home%\user_projects\domains\abc\bin\server_migration\, contains some linux command such as grep and rm. Workaround installed grep command for windows and replace rm with del.
I've shut down all managed servers and configure the managed servers to be whole server migration ready, set the node manager properties etc. I start the managed server 1 in PS A, PS A contains the floating IP upon starting. I checked using ipconfig, the floating IP is added. Then I tried to start managed server 2 through the admin console in PS A. Here comes the problem, managed server 2 also add in the floating IP which resulted in windows IP conflict. I'm not sure what went wrong, as of now i suspect is the wlsifconfig.cmd is the root of the problem. Therefore writing in to ask help from all. (Could it be im using 10.3 which does not support whole server migration?)
    Best Regards

This appears to be working on Windows using 10.0.3 Server. For the lack of step-by-step tutorial, my best suggestion is to read Node Manager Administrator's Guide chapter 1,2,3,4,6 and "Using Clusters" chapter 7. I ran into many error messages and had to apply several hacks from google results.
The whole server migration design does not appear to be too useful though.
I have the whole server migration configured on two hosts.
    1. Machine A has AdminServer and M1 (runs a pinned application and happens to be assigned a cluster master)
    2. Machine B has node manager and M2.
    3. M1 is set up to be migratable to A and B
I shutdown Machine A, but nothing is migrated. From the document, it seems both cluster master and AdminServer need to be running in order for migration to happen. This is still a single point of failure.
