Server Name Selection

Dear Experts,
SAP B1 asks Server Name every time during login in DB. I am using SAP B1 8.8.
My point is why SAP asks Server Name every login time.
Any help will be appreciated & be very thankful.
Regards,
Ravi

Hi Gordon,
The settings will not be apply in case if I am using Server for that? Actually I change font settings on server but when I login again it is not taking effect and change in earlier settings.
I mean if I use Server for settings on thin clients or on Server itself  the settings should be applied for the same.

Ravi

  • Universe on SQL Server names instance

    Hi All,
    I am very new to BO and like to get some information regarding the data sources that BO support.
    I am using Business Obejcts Enterprise XI 2 release. And can I use SQL Server named instance as the data source. If so, how do I set the universe connection parameters. I select the DSN name and pass username and password. Ane when i create DSN, at the server name select SQLSERVER\INSTANCE NAME.
    I appreciate if anyone can help me
    palam01

    Hi,
    You can create connection using generic ODBC and odbc for sql server also.
    For that first you have to create a DSN from the control panel-->data sources.
    Create a DataSource  using the database you want to use.
    Now go to Universe>New>type the universe name
    Click on new connection >Next>Select Microsoft>MS SQL Server 2000> ODBC Drivers>Next>Type(secured), name the connection.
    Type in the user name and password and select the DSN name you created for sql server.
    Click on test connection.
    Click on next-->next and finish and OK.
    Now the universe that you are creating will use this connection and you can also use this connection for creating other universes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can you select the server name or I.P. from SQL

    I am trying to find where I can get the server name or IP address from an SQL query, Can you Help?

    Do you mean the database host? It's like this:
    SQL> select host_name from v$instance;
    HOST_NAME
    sqlintdb4

  • Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server

    Hello all
    I am using C# and ADO.NET (native) - Visual Studio 2013.
    I am always using full qualified queries like "SELECT * FROM [database].[schema].[table]"
    Obviously there is a problem when doing this against SQL Azure,
    I get the following error: "Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server"
    Interesting fact: With SQL Management Studio, the same query works.
    I need to know if this error is really a true one or not.
    If yes, I can quit using SQL Azure. I would need a SQL Server and not a partial SQL Server :-)
    Thanks and best regards
    Frank

    Hi,
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. Use partially qualified queries, because:
    a. from a security standpoint, you'd want to limit your login's access across the server instance
    b. in order to achieve a even better, you should specify your database as the Initial Catalog directly in the SQL Connection.
    If you take into account these practices, SQL Database doesn't come with any limitation from that point of view.
    However, in regard to 'With SQL Management Studio, the same query works', this is actually only partially true because if you run that query agains ADO.NET, you'll actually end up in switching databases along the query which is obviously not permitted in
    SQL Database since you're running in a hosted black-box version of SQL you're not managing. It's just like running the USE <dbname> command which obviously doesn't work.

  • Report server name issue

    Dear All,
    I am stucking with the following problem,
    I have deployed my ERP apllication (developed in oracle forms & reports 10g) on oracle apllication server 10g forms & report services. my apllication server has two LAN card. out of two one has been configured with statis IP for web access. but while running report from parameter form i am taking report url from table. table contain report server name as my local server name.
    My problem is,
    If i am accessing erp from web using static ip and running report then server name is not recognized
    because it is my local server name coming from table. so for that every time i need to change report url & replace server name with statis ip in browser addr for web users.
    Please guide me what should i do to resolve this issue.
    Your reply would be greatly apprecited.
    Thanks

    If "Credentials supplied by the user running the report" is selected, when the report is run, the user will be prompted to provide credentials.  They would need to provide credentials that have the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the
    database.  This prevents the double hop.
    If "Credentials stored securely in the report server" is selected, you have to enter the username and password of a user (or service account) that has the appropriate permissions (e.g., read, execute) to the database. When the report is run, SSRS will use
    these stored credentials each time to authenticate to the database engine and query the data.  Users running the report are not prompted to provide credentials.  With this option you can use an Active Directory or SQL Server account.
    In order to access/run the report, a user will need to authenticate to SSRS.  There are options here as well. You can provide them the link to the report manager and they can authenticate, navigate to, and run the report.  You can also provide
    direct links to reports that users click in a document or application.  At this point the user is typically still prompted to authenticate to SSRS.  You can also programmatically call the report using API's and essentially build a proxy that authenticates
    to SSRS and open the report.
    Not sure if that answers your question.

  • Connection Failed: The server "name" may not exist or it is unavailable...

    So I think I know what caused this problem, but I can't figure out how to make it stop...
    When I go to print, if I try to click on the pop-up to change the default printer setting, there's a LONG delay, then I get a dialog that says:
    Connection Failed
    The server "name" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, then try again.
    Then there's another delay and I get the message a second time. I can then select any of my printer settings and print fine, it's just an annoying delay if I click on that pop-up accidentally or need to change it.
    I have a new iMac and I migrated from my old G5. The "name" of the server it is seeking is my old G5, so that must be in the settings somewhere, but I can't find it. I tried going into the Print & Fax settings in System Preferences, deleting the printer there, and then re-adding, but that didn't clear it up.
    Thanks for any insight you can provide!
    --John

    Hmm, well, this stopped working again for me. I tried swapping ethernet and re-installing the Airport client update - to no avail. I could always see my Mac shares from PCs though. However, I have (for now) managed to connect to the PC using ip address rather than name even though finder quite clearly sees the name. Does your printer connection work by ip rather than name ? I'm going to play name lookup detective for a bit now - it's some kind of Netbios name lookup issue I guess as I've no local DNS service. resolv.conf is apparently not used so a bit of learning to do! ...
    ... nmblookup seems to work but nslookup doesn't. Looks like SL connect via Finder isn't using nmblookup properly and I can't see how to make that work. When this gets reported enough it should get a publicised work-round or a fix. If only I can get dig/nslookup to slave out to nmblookup ...must be something I can configure for that ??

    Hi,
    I have copied a number of SSID packages from a live server to my test server and am trying to get them up and running but I have a problem with the connection. The only thing that is different is the server name. I decided to keep the same connection in the connection manager as it is referenced in a dtsConfig file. I changed the dtsConfig file to reference the new servername [Data Source= new test server name]. I also check my paths and they are pointing to the correct config locations etc.
    I found this post which was similar to my problem but I still get problems with the connection
    http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1319961&SiteID=1
    I updated the connection by changing the server name in the actual connection. I did this from the data flow tab in the Connection Managers sections (MS Visual Studio). Right clicked - Edit - changed the name of the server name to my test server and selected the database. Test connection was fine, and saved this.
    Once I saved this, the connection string changed to my current test server in the properties of the connection. However when I run the package I get the following error:
    Error: 0xC0202009 at ReportsImport, Connection manager "myconnectionstring": SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

    Error: 0xC0024107 at Myprocess import from file: There were errors during task validation.
    So even if I change the existing connection properties and save and Build my package again, my connection properties (connectionstring, servername etc) all revert back to its original data source when I re-open the package. Simply it does not seem to be saving the connection properties i put in.
    What am I doing wrong or how can I change the existing connection manager to look at the new server. The database is  the same and I have full admin privilege on the server.
    I don't want to recreate my packages as there are alot and they are not simple.
    After changing the connection properties, saving and reloading I get a connection error. But this is because it is not retaining the new connection manger setting i entered.
    Incidentally - I created a new SSID to perform a simple connection and write to the the server and it was OK so there is no problem with actually seeing the my test server.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes, the package is in visual studio and I have executed it. There are no errors but in the output i have the error message about my connection. My dtsConfig file is added to the project in the 'Package Configuration Organizer' and path and files are correct. This is the output error:
    Error: 0xC020801C at xx import from file, xxReportsImport [79]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.  The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "myconnectionname" failed with error code 0xC0202009.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
    I will try and run it using dtexec.exe. if I have two config files do i use
    dtsexec.exe /f <packagename> /conf <configfile> /conf <secondconfigfile>

  • How do you change the afp path "server" name on a non-server version of OS-X?

    I'm talking about the name listed after "afp://" which is shown at System Preferences>Sharing>select "File Sharing" on left, look at text under the words "File Sharing: On" where the text starts with "Other users can access shared folders on this computer... at "afp://xxxxx" where xxxxx is the name I'm referring to. I think this is the "server name" position in the file path. Looking at a couple of other Macs, they seem to normally use the "Computer Name" here, but on my 2008 Mac Pro running 10.6.8, it seems to be stuck with an earlier version of a Net-Bios name I used, and I can't get it to change regardless of what I now do with the computer name or the Net-Bios name.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Try power cycling your router, as it is most likely returning that name when asked to translate the IP address to a name.

  • Report server name in rwservlet.properties file

    Hi all,
    I dont want to hard code the report server name while calling report from the form...
    I have used....
         vrep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(myreport1);
    /* Checking for Report Server is started or not, if not throw an exception else proceed */
         if vrep = vrep||'_0'then
         raise form_trigger_failure;
    end if;
         vjob_id := substr(vrep,length(vc_reportserver)+2,length(vrep));
         vrep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(vrep);
    where vc_reportserver is assigned a value of my report server name...
    If I edit rwservlet.properties file and give
    server=<my rep server name>,
    How can i read this value from the form ? Any help please?
    I know there is a way to do in formsweb and default.env. But I want to know the way how to used in rwservlet.properties file and use it in the form.
    Kindly help
    Priya

    Thanks Francois for your reply.
    You can pass this value in the formsweb.cfg file (otherparams=)So, in forms I have to create a parameter matching with the one what I have mentioned in otherparams. right?
    you can read it from a database parameter's table (solution I prefer).So, just storing the report server name in database and fetch like
    select --- from tablename! Is it so?
    And apart from this, may I know why you prefer this method?
    And why not rwservlet.properties??

  • Edit server name in hyperlink

    Acrobat Pro XI
    We are getting a new server.  I am trying to figure out the best way to edit hyperlinks (to locations on the LAN) in existing pdf files.  Most of these files were created from Word files with links, and then converted to pdf (Acrobat Pro 7).
    Word offers ways (macros) to batch edit all of the hyperlinks in all documents in a folder, but there seems to be no built-in way to do this in Acrobat.  Assuming this is correct, Is there a way to edit all of the hyperlinks in a single pdf file in one shot (replace the server name)?  Failing that, is there a way to edit just the server name in an individual link?  I know I can "edit" a hyperlink by replacing it with a new one (drilling down to the file location each time), but I would much prefer just to replace the old server name with the new one.
    If all else fails I could create new pdf files from the Word document, but there are features of the pdf files that would need to be replicated in the new files.  For instance, there is a notice (I used a form field) that printed copies are for reference only.  There is also a process (using Java script, which I do not know, but I received help in a forum years ago) to cause the date of printing to appear in a location of my choosing.  Maybe Acrobat XI offers a way to do this, but it was inflexible and unsuitable to my needs in Acrobat 7, which is why I went the route I did.
    The point is that it would be less effort to edit the server name (if that is possible) than to create all new pdf files.  However, if I need to drill down to the file locations one at a time in the existing pdf files I would do better to start over.

    Thanks for the reply.  You confirmed what I suspected.  Links have always been clunky to manage in Acrobat.
    Related question:  The links were generated originally from Word documents that have links.  I was able to generate a list of all links used in the Word documents (I used a macro to loop through a folder and extract the links), and am now copying and pasting from that listing into the hyperlinks in the pdf file.  I use the Link tool, right click and select Properties, and edit from there.  Some of the links repeat from document to document (or within a document). There is a drop-down listing of hyperlinks added or revised in the current Acrobat session (at least), but only the leftmost characters appear in the box, often not enough to identify the link.  Is there a way to see the entire file name?

  • Can a report parameter set the Database server name

    I know what my databases and tables are named, and that the connection will be an OLE DB connection to Microsoft SQL Server.  However, I don't know the names of the servers on which databases will be installed.  Would it be possbile to prompt for the server name and have Crystal create the connection based on that?
    This is for Crystal Reports Developer XI.

    Hi Levin,
    We can select database from database expert.
    While selecting database you have to find it out on which server your database exist.
    I donu2019t think there is any option to  prompt for the server name and have Crystal create the connection based on that.

  • Imbed Server Name within HTML href

    My application is generating an email as a alert to an administrator to take some action.  I do not want to hard code the server name into the HTML href statement as depicted below

          || '<a href="http://edwprd.dhhs.state.nh.us:7777/pls/oitp/f?p=222:469">Admin Items</a>';
    I have been able to stuff the current url into a hidden item via an on load dynamic action using this javascript
    <script type="text/JavaScript">
    $s('P481_URL', window.location.href);
    </script>
    I then transform that hidden item in a pl/sql anonymous block process using this code and set local variable
    SELECT
    SUBSTR ( :p481_url,
    1,
    INSTR ( :p481_url,
    1,
    3))

    Which yields this string into the variable v_url

    Is it possible to include that local variable into the href attribute?
