Server Performance Declines
Hello There,
We are working on SAP XI 3.0 - with SP9. The server gets
tediously slow once more that two users try to work simultaneously on the same. We have tried working on SAP XI 3.0 SR1 as well, but!, have found the same problem here as well!. What could be the possible reasons for this performance deterioration ?. Please advise asap.
Thanks and Regards,
Venkat.
Venkat,
I do not have an answer to the question you posted. However, it will be helpful if you present your question in the proper context so that someone can answer you.
Whenever we say "performance is slow", you probably can give us the hardware (Example - on 2 CPU (2GHz), 2GB Window 2003 server) and tell the activity you are doing (example - sending a document from A to B with size N Byte) and it takes M seconds when we use with 1 user and maybe 2M or 3M if we use 2 similar users. Moreover, you can give some OS counters too to find out whether your problem is CPU bound or memory bound or something else. You can say, with 1 user doing the activity, CPU is some %. We can make it more precise with additional information and which will help you to receive proper responses.
Thanks,
Swapan

Performance decline after moving to a faster server
Hi,
we are running a simple web applications - just servlets - on an older Windows NT Server with two Pentium two 233 MHz CPUs. The performance on the server was acceptable and pages showed up pretty quickly in the browsers.
Now we bought a new server (still Windows NT) with two Pentium III Xeon 8xx MHz CPUs (same amount of memory) and moved the application to the new server. We expected that the performance would increase because of the faster CPUs but the opposite happened. Our first tests showed a dramatic increase of response time. Pages that showed up in just one or two seconds on the old server, now take ten and more seconds to show up.
We start OC4J with the same java runtime parameters as on the old server. Also the configuration of the Apache server that we use a front end to OC4J did not change.
Does anyone have an idea how this performance decline is possible? Shouldn't it be faster on fastes CPUs?Ideally you should have a faster response when you moved your apps to a new server. The slow performance could be due to
several reasons that includes server setup, network problem. So please look at your server setup and network.

Weblogic server performance is very slow and memory consumption is 99%
I am facing one critical issue with the weblogic server..
The server performance is very slow and one of the process is consuming more that 99% of the memory. Bouncing the server is not resolving the issue.

Exchange 2013 CU7 server performance/outage issues.
Hi Forum,
We are constantly faced with incidents from users that the connections are lost with the exchange server. As a result, we hired a consultant to install an new Exchange 2013 environment based on the Microsoft, VM-Ware and NetApp best practices.
We are still having problems with performance issues. From the client prospective, the performance has not changed, weekly hangs are still happening and I’m at my wits end.
This is our configuration:
2 Windows Server 2012 R2 CAS and DB
VM with 4 vCpu, 16GB, 1 Vmxnet3, IPv6 disabled (the Microsoft way)
VM Ware 5.1 U1
Cluster without AAP
DB1 active on Server 1 (Datacenter 1 with 3 host cluster)
DB2 active on Server 2 (Datacenter 2 with 3 host cluster)
Veeam 8 Backup (Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase DB2 -ActivateOnServer Server1 , backup server 2 then Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase back to
Server2.
Exchange is in Online-Mode due to Citrix XD VDI clients.
1300 Mailboxes and 750 users.
NetApp with SATA disks. (1.5TB E: Vol for DB1/1.5TB F: Vol for DB2)
No archiving
Unlimited mailbox sizes.
The problems are:
If we migrate a non-Exchange VM in the same cluster or to\from the same host, this results in a 30 second to 5 min Outlook outage;
If we make both DB’s active on mail server 1 and reboot server 2, this results in a 30 second to 5 min Outlook outage;
If we make both DB’s active on mail server 1 and do a Veeam backup of server 2, sometimes one of the DB’s go back to server 1, on its own;
While monitoring we see that the w3wp.exe and the Microsoft.Exchange.Store.worker.exe are consuming most of the cpu and memory;
What can I do to solve the outages?
Tnx. Timotatty.

Tnx. Timotatty.Hi Simon,<o:p></o:p>
Apparently we are using basic authentication which result in a FailingCode=401 as seen in the Event Log under Active Monitoring --> Probe Results from ECP and others. This
became apparent after reading this blog:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/ehlro/archive/2014/02/20/exchange-2013-managed-availability-healthset-troubleshooting.aspx<o:p></o:p>
We are now overriding some of the monitors which require Forms Based Authentication.<o:p></o:p>
Regarding the other 2 issues we have changed the licensing model for Veeam 8 to allow full throughput which will reduce the backup time and add compression.
The KEMP support team helped us by deselecting Use HTTP/1.1 under View/Modify Services --> ECP –> Modify --> Real Servers. This
now only flags a service (ECP or ActiveSync or OWA) as being down instead of an etire server should one component fail.<o:p></o:p>
I am satisfied but still not happy with the steps required to troubleshoot an Unhealthy Health Sets:<o:p></o:p>
Invoke-MonitoringProbe always returns with: WARNING: Could not find assembly or object type associated with monitor identity '<Healthe Set >\< Probe >'. Please ensure
that the given monitor identity exists on the server.
This makes it very difficult to troubleshoot
Unhealthy Health Sets.

Cache Hit Ratio, Database Transactions/sec, User
Connections, Average Latch Wait Time (ms), Lock

BI Server performance too slow
Hi experts,
I am facing an issue, my OBIEE sits on a Unix Platform. And many time the server performance is too slow, when I check the processes, Java under Orabi user is using more than 50% of the CPU utilization. I need to find the root cause behind it, as it is the production system and is affecting many users.
Thanks in advance.
MTThanks Prassu,
Yes the Server is performing too much calculations, but they are required as need to cache reports at daily level also,
I have an observation that the MAX_CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE [MAX_CACHE_ENTRY_SIZE = 1 MB;] parameter is set only for 1 MB, I can understand that if any query fetching more data than 1 MB will not be cached. But is there any chance that this will affect the server as well.
Thanks

Client has a NetWare 6.5 server SP 7 or last one put out. Lately the server performance would drop to almost half the speed it was running after about 3 hrs of up time, I cannot see anything that point to any module or hardware that is causing this.
The PRB are where they are suppose to be.
The Dirty Cache is 0%
The only thing I can see is in the Busiest thread on the Kernel screen there is a Server [numbered anywhere from 01 to 20] that shows up with some fairly large numbers for memory usage. What i'm trying to do is to nail this down to what the actual application/module is.
On other screens there are supended semaphore. Can anyone explain this to me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Server Performance (TOP)
Hi,
I'm running an oracle process, which may hit the Server CPU performance & Memory Status.
How may I generate a server performance report every 30 minutes by default?
How this can be done with Linux server, HP-UX and AIX Server?
Thanks in advance

when installed, it generates statistics every 10 minutes.
goto /var/log/sa, you'll see files called 'sa', followed by the day number of the month.
you can extract the performance data in these files using 'sar -f <safile>', and choose the switch for the statistics you want to see.

Server Performance Advisor (SPA) 3.0
Hi,
i have installed the Server Performance Advisor (SPA) 3.0 on a Windows 7 SP1 Client.
The Server, I want to watch the performance, is a Windows 2012 Server R2.
Both are in the same domain and my user is in the administrator group on the server.
In "Configure Servers" I add the server and I add a shared directory on the server.
When I test the configuration the "Test Configuration" dialog appears but never succeeds.
In the Log.txt file I find the following
+ SpaException: Cannot start performance logs and alerts data collection set ServerPerformanceAdvisor_2 on server gsd-df-03.

What is wrong with my configuration?
Thanks.Hi Harald,
Thank you for your post.
From your description, I see the issue you are facing is there is something wrong with Server Performance Advisor on Windows 7.
Combining the error message with my research, the cause of such symptom might be related to credentials.
Here I find a related case which describes the similar symptom, you may use it for a reference.
SPA (Server Performance Advisor) Install issue on Windows 2008 server not in domain
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/54fe7a27-32cf-44fd-a822-8cca1d003c59/spa-server-performance-advisor-install-issue-on-windows-2008-server-not-in-domain?forum=winserverManagement
Currently, let's do the following test to see if that solves the issue.
Test 1
====
Clear the windows credentials in control panel, launch SPA as administrator and run analysis. SPA will ask you to input your password when running analysis at the first time. Make sure the user name is exactly the one you logon.
Test 2
====
Create a new local account, add it to administrator group, logon using the new account and launch SPA as administrator.
Hopefully the information is helpful. Please let me know if there is any update.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Sophia Sun

and would like to nkow some troubleshooting tips when it comes to DNS server performing slowly.
Thanks for your help in advance.If your Mac is getting good speeds, but page loads are still low it certainly could be due to poor DNS performance.
I have been using 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 as my DNS for a few years and the performance was much better than those supplied by my ISP.
I have also fooled around with OpenDNS on my PC and it works nicely. I am happy with the performance on my Mac, so I have left it alone. You can get all the info you need on OpenDNS on their page found HERE. -
