Server refuses all connections randomly one day.
I got home from school, did my homework, and tried to print it through my mac mini server running CUPS. It says the printer is offline. I tried SSHing to the mac mini, but I get this: [code]ssh: connect to host 10.0.1.31 port 22: Connection refused[/code] I also run a minecraft server from it, and I can't connect to that either. The server also won't show up under the "shared" section of the finder. (AFP)
I tried turning off the firewall, but that didn't help. I also rebooted the computer. Does anyone know of something I can try? The server can connect to the internet fine.
It's being assigned a static internal ip via my airport extreme.
Forget me. My iMac somehow connected to the public network, not the one the mini was on.

We have a GW 7.03 clustered environment running on NW 6.5.7.
All emails from one day on one of our POs has been lost, ie: on the 21st of this month all received, sent, work in progress and calender items for all users on one of our POs were lost.
The only difference between that problematic PO and the other 6 POs, is that its GWCHECK.db became much bigger in size then the other 6 POs one day after the loss! Also the GWCHECK.log at the root of the PO shows several attempts to run scheduled gwcheck jobs with failure: "Failure 'writing' GWCheck database (WpckSetItemStatusByDrn)" in the log.
Subsequent logs from the GWCHECK.log files on subsequent days are normal. I have since re-created the GWCHECk.db and restarted the PO, since then the log is the same size as other POs.
I cannot find any other indication to show me the reason for loosing the emails from that day!
The PO never ran out of space!
Question (s):
1- Could the scheduled task cause email loss based on the above info?
2- If the lost email was never deleted by the users, is there a way to recover those emails form a restore PO location? (knowing that the restore area will show only deleted messages)
3- Will the only solution if the above statement is true is to load the restore PO against an isolated POA while allowing Client/server & Direct access for client connection?
4- Any idea what caused the email loss?
Thank youAfter all: a restore executed - by mistake - to the live environment after midnight on the day of! this made it even harder to detect from the GW aspect, but could be confirmed through our backup system logs. What made the matters even worse; the fact that the nightly backup was running as well!!
The timeline from the Gwcheck logs alligned with the restore logs which also resulted in "bloating" the "NGWCHEK.db" to lamost 30 times as much as normal, since the system went into a loop trying to execute the scheduled maintenance jobs.

I am not sure if there is a way to accidentally purge a given days mail. What about an accidental restore? The gwchecks might be in response to a failure to access the databases and the PO tried to recover them. Look at the poa and mrs logs and see if you find any database errors being reported.

You can delete the backup without any problem. Only the backup will be deleted from iCloud and nothing else will be deleted, so you can do it without worrying about losing data on iCloud or your devices

In WebLogic, the logs are located at domains/your_domain/server/yourPublishingServer/logs.

Script to pull all connections from one IP out of DPS access logs...
I need an efficient script to pull all of the connections for 2 IP's (or match the first two octets of the IP will cover both addresses also) from multiple DPS access logs out and write them to a file.
The current one-liner I've been using doesn't work well with multiple access log files. So I tried combining multiple logs into one access log, and then trying to parse that large log file (around . The problem is, I am now getting the error: "bash: /usr/bin/egrep: Arg list too long", which is because it takes all of the connection numbers and builds a grep with them.
Here is the one-liner I've been using:

lgrep -O conn <IP> access
If you have more logs you can cat them and pipe the output to lgrep in a pipeline, like:
cat access.1 access.2 ... access.n | lgrep -O conn <IP>
Just make sure that the logs are listed in sequence. The script won't produce reliable results if the log is non-sequential. -
Sticky serverfarm, all connections on one server
We are using a sticky serverfarm with 2 real servers, one server was down for maintenance for an extended period of time. When it came inservice again it was not getting any connections. is it because all the connections had stuck to the other server ? we want sessions to be sticky but we also want to LB so what is the answer to this?
I got it working by bouncing the server that had been online all the time. things started to LB then.
BTW the ACE 4710 is running 4.2.1That is expected behaviour wih sticky.

Tiger Server boots but refuses all connections
Hi,
I've had a trusty old Powermac G4 (AGP) running Tiger Server (10.4.11) for almost a year now. We use it to serve OD, NFS homes, MySQL & printing. Apart from the occasional issues setting up the mobile home folders, it has been doing great. It has 896 MB of RAM and 3 HDD (two 500 MB and one 80MB one).
However, after suffering a power outage, the machine has stopped accepting any kind of connection to it (ssh, web, vnc, OD, nfs,...). Morever, although it seems to boot ok, we can't get past the login screen. Neither network nor local accounts are accepted.
I've booted from an external installation media to check the system drive (repair disk and permissions) and things are still not working.
Any ideas?Access it from another FireWire Mac via Target Disk Mode and then follow my standard instructions:
Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you install. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk or another Mac. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk. If you do not have a disk or partition without an OS it will probably not be practical to produce a bootable OS at this stage so backup to a sparse disk image for the time being and ensure that you have sufficient partitions in future.
Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install. I prefer to split disks into two partitions with a full OS on each so that one can be used to maintain the other.
During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs. -
AE Dropping all connections randomly and then rebooting.
The problem I am having is my Airport Express will randomly drop all incoming and outgoing connections. This usually happens when I am running AirPlay via my AppleTV and using the internet at the same time. I only have a 1Mbs/s speed. I was watching American Gangster yesterday and redownloading my music on itunes, and suddenly it drops and gives the "You need to be connected to home sharing" then it switches and says I am not longer connected to the internet, then a few moments later it connected again. This IS the AE right? It has to be if the internet is cutting out as well, it wouldn't be just the Mac's Airport card. Should I just get it replaced?

SMTP Postfix refuses all connections both internal and external
My server initially started bouncing all outgoing e-mail from our users saying that an invalid user name and password has been specified. Now it has progressed to bouncing all SMTP traffic both incoming and outgoing. I've got hours into trying to decode the mystery of why Postfix is doing this but still can't come up with an explanation. The server is an OD master running just AFP and Mail. Airport Refuses all connects..
I had one of the old airports - the dome - and I have a second airport - the one that looks like a macbook powersupply - to extend the dome's range.
The dome finally died. So I retired it and brought the new(er) airport into the house to replace the dome. I have gone through the set-up multiple times, using all the security methods, but I can't get any device to successfully join after entering in my password.
On WEP mode, it tells me that I entered the wrong password....on WPA/WPA2, it just tells me that the device is unable to join.
I've tried entering the password as both "password" and password.
I've hard reset, and factory-reset the airport, only to reach the same end.
I am trying to connect from my iphone and ipad -- both devices were successfully connecting previously to the old airport and can connect to the lan @ work, so I know it's not the devices themselves.
Out of ideas - can anyone suggest something?
Thanks...I had set-up the airport dhcp address pool that there was overlap with the router address pool which was causing the airport connects to fail...

I have setup my server using default values. I use the free
developer editon. I'm have tried sample applications from de adobe
site(broadcaster and sample_videoconferance) and I keep getting:

my imac G5 turns off on mi and dont want to turn back on at all but nex day tuns on normaly then tuns back off again
It could be several possible issues.
1) Your G5 iMac could be overheating. Depending on which model, you might be able to open the back by yourself (not on an iSight model), and using a can of compressed air, youcould blow the dust out of it.
2) The power supply could be going bad.
3) The hard drive could be going bad.
There could be several others.
If you have the original, came with the iMac when purchased new Install Disks, you can try running the Apple Hardware Test to see if it can determine any hardware issues. It can't always find the problem.

Converting date value one day less while transfering from client to server
Hi,
I have very typical problem. My application is in java, we are using oralce 9ias. The problem when the server is running in german locale and client is running in english. We the date value is passed from client to server it is converting to one day less.
i.e.
If i want to search with records jan 02,2005,
on server side if we print the value it is getting as jan 01,2005.
Can anybody help me in solving the above problem.
Its bit very urgent.

Proxy Server Refuses Connection
Since updating to OSX 10.5.5 I cannot receive the correct IP address from my local DHCP server. I have 2 other computers in my office, One being a mac laptop and they are fine. Computer tech's have taken a look and think thats it's a software issue. When I connect may laptop which is running OSX 10.4.11 to the internet the connection is fine, plug the same internet connection into my imac the proxy server refuses to connect and I get a different and incorrect IP address. Tried connecting wireless, status on but connection is refused ??????

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy -
As the title question states, I lost a really important file with iText Express. I've been using iText Express for a year or two now because it's just the one application I downloaded for writing and saving documents. I was working on one for a few months and randomly one day last month, when I went to open it to resume editing my work, the file was gone! I searched my whole laptop and trash. Then one day, a "Recovered Files" folder popped up in the area my file used to be, so I assumed that was the file I lost being recovered and I felt relieved. But when I opened the folder, the document inside was a "SoftwareMap" document with a bunch of coding written in it. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do with that or how it's going to help me recover my file?!? I lost SO much work!!! If anyone has ANY idea what to do, how this happened, or if the coding is supposed to help me recover my file, PLEASE help!!!
No, I already tried looking at that. The file that recovered was not in the trash, it appeared in my documents folder. I opened it up and inside was an iText Express document with coding. Then inside of there, was and then and this "SoftwareMap" document contained a bunch of coding and symbols and words.
