Server rejects all connections
I have setup my server using default values. I use the free
developer editon. I'm have tried sample applications from de adobe
site(broadcaster and sample_videoconferance) and I keep getting:
NetConnection.Connect.Rejected
in de fm2_console i keep seeing things like: conneted:0 ,
connects: 5 , disconnection 5:
-I have no (windows)firewall
- I created empty directies in de application folder with the
correced names
-used localhost, LAN adress, 127.0.0.1 , rtmp,rtmpt
all nothing. Red5 works fine btw ( i don't have it running
right now)
the server access and System log under the servers tab is
completely empty. What do you mean with instance name in the url.
I'm i supposed to put it in the url , or create an application
instance manualy in the console? that sounds a bit weird.

I have a rather simple problem (Oracle 8.1.5). I have created a DB, given my standard user all the access rights I can think of, I have created a service name in the Net8 Assistant, and I have created a ODBC DSN, but when I start my Access 2000, and choose to link through ODBC, I first get prompted for user name and password, and then I get a "... Server rejected the connection. (#12154) ... Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed (#0) ..." no matter what user name and password I enter.
I am pretty sure I am doing something very simple wrong, but I cannot find anything that can help me in the docs. Any suggestions?
This was sort of the first thing I wanted to make sure worked, that I could create a database and connect to it from ODBC, before I went on...Yes, the listener is started, I can tnsping it, and the TEST function in the NET8 also says OK.
HOWEVER, I think I just found the problem. I had written the full service name "HDM.SEVENT" in the ODBC dialog box. Just now I tried to write just "HDM", and bingo! But thank you for your help anyway, Justin! It often helps just to talk with someone about a problem. :-)

Server refuses all connections randomly one day.
I got home from school, did my homework, and tried to print it through my mac mini server running CUPS. It says the printer is offline. I tried SSHing to the mac mini, but I get this: [code]ssh: connect to host 10.0.1.31 port 22: Connection refused[/code] I also run a minecraft server from it, and I can't connect to that either. The server also won't show up under the "shared" section of the finder. (AFP)
I tried turning off the firewall, but that didn't help. I also rebooted the computer. Does anyone know of something I can try? The server can connect to the internet fine.
It's being assigned a static internal ip via my airport extreme.Forget me. My iMac somehow connected to the public network, not the one the mini was on.

ISP Blocks port 25, server rejects 587
I have a client who's home ISP blocks outgoing mail on port 25, when I switch his client to 587 to circumvent this, I get an error that the server rejected the connection on that port. I have double checked the firewall that 587 is open for traffic, but the rejected connection continues. Is there something I am missing?
If your client trying to send mail from his home via his office mail server, then a VPN can be an option. That'll solve various problems here, including the firewall blocks (often found on inbound and outbound port 25 from dynamic IP addresses) and it'll provide secure connectivity and ease-of-use benefits. It'll operate like the client is "on" the office LAN, if established at the external firewall.
But yes, configuring the office external firewall and the mail server to enable and allow the SMTP submission ports is normal practice, particularly if the mail server connections are comparatively fleeting as can be the case with remote and mobile clients. Both unencrypted and SSL connections are possible. And the submission ports isn't generally considered "circumvention", it's basically the normal path into a mail server for authenticated users. (Connections into the mail servers from dynamic ports are usually spam engines.) -
Cannot send email from my iPhone or iPad. The server rejects a recepient for no apparent reason. The recipient is not new. This issue happens on reply or reply to all or froward; not a new email to the same recepient. What is happening?
I talked with a tech today and he said I cloud is having problems which should be resolved shortly.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc. -

Since upgrading to Maverick I cannot send photos while in iPhoto. Dropbox says I am not connected to server.
All other internet email activities work just fine.And again why do you think Dropbox is involved in any way? There is no connection of any sort between iPhoto and Dropbox
THis sounds like you either need to (my personal suggestion) change your email client to Mail in the iPhoto preferenceemail if you want to use the iPhoto client under the accounts tab delete your account and re-enter it

If so, actually the connections will not always stay open.. they will time out after a while when they are not in use but to specifically answer your question.. how could it possible be a bad thing. If the server/your app was getting bogged down with opening and closing connections then pooling solves this..
Finally as to your question of the alternatives... if the problem was opening and closing connections and reusing them through a pool solved this then I think the answer is no. If you don't like a specific part of the way the pool works it is probably configurable in some way and you could always implement your own pool.. although I wouldn't overly recommend that. The bottom line is that you need to keep your connections open for reuse.. pooling is the simplest way to achieve this.. but no there is no alternative to keeping your connections open if you are having the load problems you described. -
I keep getting a message stating that it is critical that I update my Firefox. I click on the update icon and a software update box shows up and tells me I am connecting to the update server but the connection never happens. I have multiple devices (iMacs, Lap tops, Ipads) all connected to a Nas Drive. Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife and we each have our own apple ID's, Itunes etc, but share the same data on the hard drives? So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?
You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

When I click onto the "Read Full Article..." tab I go to the Mozilla Firefox page which says there is a problem loading page - Mozilla Firefox, and then get the "The proxy server is refusing connections" and the o2 Broadband assistant then kicks in and starts trying to find the connections even though o2 broadband is connected.
I have tried re-installing Firefox but this does not improve the situation which is frustrating as I have to send everything to my work account so that I can read any further information.You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

Comcast POP Server Rejecting Password & Now Dysfunctional (Keychain?)
I'm starting a new thread because a related topic "POP server rejecting password" is marked answered, but for Charter, which solution will not work with Comcast. Comcast has advised that some problems are stemming from internal changes (commencing near the end of November 2007) mandated by the FCC to improve security. But, given that I can access the Comcast email account remotely via my Treo Smartphone (using Sprint), and via Comcast Webmail, makes me think that my Mac (OS 10.4.8) and/or Mail application may also be culpable.
I specifically am having a problem with a Comcast email POP server, but not two other POP inboxes hosted by another, unrelated ISP, also managed by Mail.
When I open Mail, the Comcast mailboxes (both inbox and sent) are grayed out with a ~ next to them--I've never seen a ~ before. The other two mailbox pairs (the non-Comcast ISP) work normally. Selecting Mail's Connection Doctor produces the results: "Connection and login to server succeeded" for the Comcast POP and "Connection to server succeeded, no login required" for the Comcast SMTP--no difference when compared with the results for the other, non-Comcast ISP mail accounts. This is notably different from posts in the other thread.
Historically, I'd occasionally (perhaps monthly or so) get the popup request "Enter Password for Account..." Comcast previously conveyed that such treatment is normal. I perhaps could have alleviated this by adding the response to the keychain, but never bothered. Problems began yesterday when typing in the correct password resulted in the same request, repeatedly without end.
Called Comcast tech support (three times now), verifying that the Mail application is set up OK. They acknowledged that they were experiencing some server outages, but that was unlikely the issue since I could access such via Comcast webmail. Of course, they referred me to Apple--my Mac "had to be the problem."
The other topic suggested, perhaps, that keychain was at fault. So, using the Keychain Access utility, deleted all items. I was motivated to do this anyway based on speculation last week by the Trash It scriptware developer that I may have keychain corruption, as regarded another, hopefully unrelated problem, now resolved, having to do with attempting to eliminate "localized.rsrc" files from the trash via the Terminal command "sudo rm -R ~/.Trash/*" returning the error "...(my formal user account name) is not in the sudors file."
Pulling my hair out on this one.Comcast fixed the problem they were having with their server(s). No explanation, of course. Guess the problem was theirs entirely--no fault on our side.
Thanks David for your insight on what the (~) meant. Tried going online, but upon Mail checking, the affected mailbox immediately again went back offline--at least until Comcast fixed its end.
As regards the POP servers, yes I suspect there are intervening servers (PoP or otherwise) between users and the underlying database holding the email. All Comcast would acknowledge is that customer service representatives access the same customer email repository as do individual customers themselves, whether by POP or Webmail (Duh). -

*Every day* when I come home, the "Server rejected the password" error dialog is waiting for me. Of course, the password is correct. When I re-enter it, Mail downloads the mail correctly.
This problem seems to occur more often since I switched over from the old prodigy.net to the sbc.yahoo.com servers.
While I sure wished that Mail was not totally boneheaded in handling the occasional failed POP connection attempt, I wonder whether:
1. I am the only one having this problem
2. It's a Yahoo problem
3. Is there a way to fix it?

I am having the same problem. I have to re-type my password for two POP accounts each time I start MAIL. It doesn't hold the SMTP passwords either.
Once I go into the preferences and re-type them it will connect fine until I restart MAIL and I have to start all over again...I too wonder the same things!
