Server settings for using other pop3/imap applications?

trying to set up mac mail on my motorola q, and can't quie get the mail to work. What should the setting be:
For incoming and outgoing server names
For account name (should it include @and after)
SSL?

I have found a solution: In ZendFramework/library/Zend/Amf/Response/Http.php linenumber 59:
$ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS']; is given an error.
I did this:
$_SERVER['HTTPS'] = 'off';
$ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS'];
So add this line....
And it works...

Has anyone figured this out? Seems like everyone is talking about FlashBuilder that comes with PHP and that doesn't help me. So I'm still having trouble moving my mobile app to a remote server and I have FlashBuilder 4.5 Premium without PHP.
I have created a PHP project outside of Flash Builder and then I have connected to it using the Data/Service tab, but then it ask for the server information and that is where I'm having the issues.
It works create with the setting like this.
MAC:
Server Options
Web Root: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs
Root URL: http://localhost/
But when you try to export a release build or just like to test it, and insert your server settings.
Server Options
Web Root: /home/username/domain_name/
Root URL: http://mydomain.com
It doesn't Validate which in turn won't let the project work. Also it would be nice to put the remote server in there for testing instead of just for release builds. Any one have an answer. Every tutorial or explanation shows localhost.

Saving Settings for use with Export using Quicktime Conversion

Dear All,
Is it possible to save a set of settings for use with the Export using Quicktime Conversion feature? The reason I ask is that we have to export a quicktime of every tv commercial we make (using the same settings) and it would be great if "one click" could deliver the export settings we need.

Well, you can create a droplet from Compressor that would do what you'd like...
Open compressor and in the Help menu, Select the user manual. Navigate to page 315.

Changing Mail Server Settings for Other IMAP

Hello,
         I'm an Admin for a treatment center and one of our psychiatrists has a BB Tour. He asked me the other day if I could set up his email account on our exchange server for him on his phone. Going through the mail setup wizard I selected "Other" account and set it up for IMAP and then it asked me for his email address and password. It took the domain name and then assumed the mail server names were as such. Now in a perfect world, this wouldnt be an issue. I recently took over for a complete moron and this guy has our MX records pointing to a 3rd party company where all of our outside emails go and then the Outlook clients are set up to pop this box in addition to the Exchange setup (I know its totally lame). What Ive done for everyone else is just setup a IMAP account using the server IP address and mail works fine for them. I cannot for the life of me find where I can actually edit the mail server names for the IMAP account I create on his BB Tour. Is this a limitation the phone? Or am I not looking in the right place. Yup -- refer back to my first reply where I said to use the carrier BIS website...while I didn't say it quite so clearly, I did not say to use the on-device email setup wizards.
The device interface to BIS (aka email setup wizards) and the carrier website interface to BIS have subtle differences. For what you need to do, you need to use the carrier website from a PC/browser. Here is the link:

If you have not yet created BIS credentials, you will need to. I find it easier to first create those on the device interface and then use them in the web interface. Afterwards, you will have to use the credentials in the device interface, but there is a "remember me" box so you will only have to enter them once.
Personally, I rarely use the device interface...a full keyboard, mouse, and monitor are so much simpler for doing things than a tiny BB screen/keyboard. But that's just me.

Duplicate Server Settings for Backup

I am wanting to duplicate my current Apple Server settings (10.4.8) into a new, virgin Server installation. We are basically only using IMAP mail and VPN on the server.
I have found "migration" instructions from 10.3 to 10.4, that show how settings can be saved to a USB flash stick and then used to install the new server. I haven't been able to get these instructions to work however, the new server installation doesn't see the flash stick.
Does anyone have any comprehensive instructions for this kind of 10.4 - 10.4 migration?

what settings are you trying to migrate?
Are you replacing the existing server or adding another (if replacing, we'll want to give you cloning instructions- it's much easier)
What hardware, are they both PPC?
What might help you... in ServerAdmin, when you click a service, then click settings, you will see a document icon in the bottom left of the window. If you drag this icon to the desktop, you will save a plist of that services config. Do this for all services you wish to copy the config from. Move those documents to the new server ANY way you can, you can use mac.com, email, file server, burn a CD, it doesn't matter.
On the new server, open Server Admin, then the service you wish to config, click settings, then drag the plist to the ServerAdmin window. This will load all settings from the old to the new.
But.... don't go through all those steps if your intention is to replace the old server... cloning can be much much easier.
If you need more of an assist, please post more about what exactly you want to copy from one server to the other. Explain what services will be in use on each machine.

Has anybody here designed their own server VIs for use w/ DSC?

I've been browsing viserver.pdf and the DSC documentation to understand what needs to be done to implement a server VI for DSC... but I'm finding the documentation difficult to understand.
I understand the basic 3 tiered layering of DSC with a GUI VI on top, the Tag Engine in the middle and the server VI on the bottom aquiring data directly from the device in question.
Is this server VI supposed to be programmed as if its a driver - sending low level(GPIB in this case) commands to the device to write and read info? I guess where I'm hung up is here: I've already written a driver for my temperature controller device and w/ this taken care of, I'm confused about the roll of the server VI
. Should the server VI use the driver to aquire data from the temp controller or should the server VI itself be the driver and server combined?
I've looked at some of the server VI examples that come w/ LV but I'm relatively new to LV and have almost no time w/ DSC... so the examples aren't helping much.
Any direction or tips for a DSC beginner using a server VI would be great.

Perhaps a simpler solution for you at this time would be to use the driver VI that you have already created to serve data to DSC. This is done by writing your data to memory tags. Once your data is stored in a memory tag, all of the functionality of DSC will then be available (logging, alarming, security, trending, etc).
National Instruments offers basic skills training courses for many of it's products, including DSC. I recommend that you attend the LabVIEW Basics I and DSC Basics courses. All of the information that you need to perform the above operation are covered in these courses.

Apple Mail Client not saving server settings for iCloud?

I am trying to add my iCloud email to the Apple mail client.
As I work through the wizard to setup all the necessary entries inclduing the for the Incoming and outgoing mail settings but when the account is finally created in the
Mail client, the incoming mail server settings are not set and the box they are shown in is not available for editing.
The mail client vs is 6.6
I have tried this several times with the same end result, any help appreciated????

You don't manually add your iCloud email account using Mountain Lion. Instead, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign into your iCloud account and check Mail. This will automatically add the account with the proper settings.

How do i use my fingerprint for uses other than login? (email, web forums, etc)

I was wondering, is there a way to use your fingerprint in place of a password for other uses other than logging into windows? Some uses would be internet email {specifically gmail), logging into web forums (like this one). Maybe (this is probably hopeful thinking) configure your fingerprint to includepersonal data when filling out forums such as address, DOB, phone number, etc. I will be using Firefox almost exclusively, but if theres a solution for IE i'll listen too.

Lazy Nezumi - settings for use with CC

I am finding it hard to find my way round way this software - the incomprehensible (to me) manual doesn't help - and I'd be grateful for a steer on what are good default settings for smoothing curves in freehand drawing. None of the settings seem to help or have a simple and useful effect for freehand work.
Can I assume that it only works with the brush tool and not with other tools like the Art History Brush?
I know Trevor D has mentioned this software a couple of times.

David, you had me wondering there. I don't think I have ever used the Art History brush. I did try though, and initially thought LNP did not work with that tool, but with high settings I could see that it does.
For smooth lines use the Massive Smooth preset with mode set to Moving Average. The default values are good for the Brush tool, but seem to work better with much higher 'Amount' setting for the Art History brush. But I have no experience with the Art history brush, and don't even have a clear idea how it works.
Lazy Mouse with the Pulled string mode, are used for smooth lines with abrupt changes of direction. You have to stop and move the cursor back a touch to take the tension out of the pulled string. Then move in the new direction and when the pulled string becomes taut the line will follow the cursor again.

I don't think that Guilaume ever sleeps. He has never taken more than 30 minutes to reply to an email, even on Christmas day! He is super helpful, and tends to respond immediately if you use the LNP Chat facility.
If you check out the Feedback page, you'll find lots of LNP users that do 'similar' work to you, although I have to say none that were quite like your beautiful painterly type artworks. You'll possibly recognize some of the names, and maybe swap some ideas with them. It's quite a little community, but there isn't a forum unfortunately.
I am not sure how relevant they will be to your work, but do check out the Constraint presets. For line drawing I find they are really useful.

JVC GZ-HD7U MPEG Streamclip export settings for use with FCP

There are a number of compression options in the free MPEG Streamclip 1.9.2 and it's unclear what's best or how I would figure that info out. My guess is Apple HDV 1080i50, Apple HDV 1080i60, Apple DVCPRO HD 1080i50, or Apple DVCPRO HD 1080i60. The default setting was Apple Motion JPEG A, but this produced a huge file and doesn't seem right anyway. I think the desired frame size is 1920 x 1080, but I'm uncertain if I need to end up with an interlaced or progressive .mov file. My selectable options for progressive/interlaced are: "Interlaced Scaling," "Reinterlace Chroma," and "Deinterlace Video." Selecting "Deinterlace Video" excludes use of the other two options.
These clips will eventually be edited in FCP and I'm guessing that the appropriate settings will match whatever is selected at the export stage.
I'm using the JVC Everio GZ-DH7U HD Hard disk camcorder...I'm not sure if JVC uses the same setting across the board for it's HD cameras or maybe just the Everio cameras are similarly designed??

the output should match the source file, generally speaking. So if you camera is making HD files then using a HD sized coded would suffice.
HDV (IIRC) is 1440x1080. I often find that using the default settings for a particular file type in Streamclip often work quite well.
As a test, take a small file. if it works, great batch process away, if not, tweak it and then try the same small file until you get a desirable result. Rinse and repeat.

How do I get deleted emails on my Iphone to sync with my Verizon server. I used "other app" to add Verizon acct.

I added the Verizon email acct using other. I get everything n I told it to delete from server under "advance" section, spoke to wireless people at Verizon n they say it just doesn't always work with an iPhone. I can't believe that. I have to delete emails on my iPhone, server with computer , and iPad. Bad enough with all the legitimate junk that I have to delete three times. I'm tempted to just use gmail. That one works just fine. Any ideas?

Verizon.net uses POP email. It's an older form of email protocol that wasn't designed to by synced across multiple devices. So, the people at Verizon Wireless were correct. You will have to delete on each device.
I use my Gmail account to collect my email from a POP account for just this reason.

Messaging Server Settings for MMR Directories

We have 2 - Directory Servers (v 5.2 - JES 05Q4) in MMR mode and we are testing Messaging Server (JES 05Q4). We are using schema 1, delegated admin and PAB for address book.
I have a question related to paburi attribute on the user entry. How do I list both the directory servers on this attribute for connecting to PAB. Basically we are looking for an automatic failover from DS #1 to DS #2.
I set the corresponding attributes on msg.conf as follows:
local.ldaphost = "ds1 ds2"
local.service.pab.ldaphost ="ds1 ds2"
local.ugldaphost="ds1 ds2"
I was wondering if there was a way to make paburi attribute MMR aware. In the sense that it can failover frfrom one directory to the other in case of directory failure.

Thi is very much possible .. the whole trick is in replicating the NetscapeRoot data source in the MMR configuration. I know that once you replicate NetscapeRoot one of the servers will loose its configuration but U can do this. Here is what I have done:
Configure your Primary LDAP server say ldap-1
Configure your Secondary LDAP server but whicle doing so store the inforamtion about the secondary (ldap-2) in the primary.
Once done access ldap-1 from Console and Export NetscapeRoot into and LDIF file.
Now Unconfigure your secondary ldap server ... make sure that u run the unconfigure program rater than deleting the files. Now reconfigure ldap-2 server so that the configuration lies in the same server also configure the admin server make sure that u sore the configuration in the same path as you did while configuring the ldap-2 server .
Now you access the ldap-1 server its pretty obviuos that u cannot see the ldap-2 server configration by any means but u still hold the ldif file .. now Initialize the NetscapeRoot with the previously exprted ldif file and enable replication to the ldap-2 then u will have all the info you wanted in both the servers.
Now start configuring the Messaging Server . Then use the configutl ... the ugldap all that u have done .. this will work for sure .. I have done this and tested .. the messaging server can use either of the directory servers acording to the avaliability ..,,,,,
The only drawback of this is configuration is u cannot use this for a system already in use .. you can but at your risk .. for a fresh installation this will work for sure.......
