Server-status messages in access.log

I realize these log entries are harmless and that they are created by servermgrd doing its status checks, however I would like to know how to...
1. Reduce the interval
2. Specify that the entries get written to a specific (other) log file
Any and all help appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I wish that were true. I've disconnected Server Admin from the server and then quit the application. The log entries are still comin'.

    when attempting to connect to the itunes store, the status message says "accessing itunes store..." but never connects.  how do i resolve this?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
    If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Ical server error message when accessed remotely

    hello we have a 10.6.7 ical server running mostly smoothly when accessed from the LAN.
    however, when accessed remotely it generates the following error message:
    The server responded with “HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented” to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
    the message provides the following 2 responses / buttons: stay offline or go online - trouble is once you click go online, it comes up with the same message again.
    unfortunately, research the error message has so far not produced any promising results, thus any ideas would be much appreciated.

    There are many reports here on this site about this, crossing different carriers and regions of the world. Consequently, the only deduction that can be made is that this is a system-level issue rather than a single user issue. Hence, what each affected user must do is contact their mobile service provider for formal support and possible escalation up to BlackBerry.
    Good luck!

  • WebLogic Access Log

    The access.log keeps growing, over significant size, like 80MB in a couple of months.
    Is any way to rotate the log by size? Seems to me the rotating configuation
    on the console only applies to the weblogic.log.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

    Hi, Sam.
    WebLogic Server 6.0 -- this is doc'd as a known issue <http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs60/notes/issues.html#1064994>
    (look for issue number 41321).
    WebLogic Server 6.1.0 -- access.log rotation works.
    Check out 6.1.0!

  • Access Log (Server Website)

    I have justed started to use a new Mac Mini Server, with server version 3.1.1 and OSX 10.9.2, and have a question concerning the Access Log (Server Website).  I am getting this message about every 3 seconds:  "GET /devicemanagement/status?auto HTTP/1.1" 200 398 "-" "devicemgrd/865.1 CFNetowrk/673.2.1 Darwin/13.1.0 (x86_64) (Macmini6%2c)"
    I don't have any idea what this is referring to.  Is this normal or is it pointing to a problem?
    Thanks!

    Sorry about my late reply... well I can't believe we're the only two with this problem... there must be other (Macmini3%2C1)s out there.
    I noticed that other logs are also getting filled up with similar messages but the Apache Access Log is the worst affected in my case.
    Our server is a bit long in the tooth but it has no problem handling the traffic (and never had). Could the problem be related to the hardware? How old is your server hardware?
    Regards
    Peter

  • Crap in Access Log (Server Website)

    Hardware: Mac Mini Server 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR, RAID 2 500GB (2x500GB)
    Software: OS X 10.9.3 Mavericks (Build 13D65), OS X Server 3.1.1 (Build 13S4140)
    How to reproduce: Open Server App, click on Logs under the heading Server in the left pane on the application window. Under Websites open Access Log (Server Website).
    Every approximately 3 seconds the following in written into the log file:
    [18/May/2014:17:50:58 +0300] "GET /devicemanagement/status?auto HTTP/1.1" 200 398 "-" "devicemgrd/865.1 CFNetwork/673.3 Darwin/13.2.0 (x86_64) (Macmini3%2C1)"
    The server seems to be working fine but the log file is basically useless due to this message filling up the log.
    Is this an error? And how do I fix it?
    Regards
    Peter

    This appears to be linked to Profile Manager: turning Profile Manager off turns this off.

  • Weird error message I got after changing my Access Log Settings

    "Try to refresh the view (localhost/Web). Report the problem to the administrator if it persists. (NILRESPONSEERR (* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)))"
    I can't seem to get into server admin to change back what I did. I copied access log settings from a known good working server and after hitting save I get this. Tried restarting with no luck.
    Anyone know where to start looking at? Ever encountered this before?

  • Server access logs location

    Where are Leopard's built-in server's access logs physically located?
    Also, is there a fairly easy way to block an IP from accessing your server?

    They are located in /var/log
    system.log and secure.log are the main access ones.
    If you are looking at web access only, those are in /var/log/apache2
    If you're familiar with the terminal, you can grep through them, otherwise the console utility is rather nice, and allows you to filter by certain strings.
    Blocking IPs can be done by a firewall. OS X does have a built in firewall which you could use to block a certain IP. Someone else may need to chime in with the details.
    If you provide more information on what kind of intrusion attempts you're looking at, it will be easier to offer additional help.

  • 10.6.4 Server on Mini Server - DNS Problems - Slow, EDNS log messages

    Like a few of other people here, I'm having a hard time getting DNS to work smoothly on my new Mac Mini Server, now running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.4. I'd been running Leopard Server on a previous machine with much smoother DNS (though the Server Admin config didn't work, that's another story).
    Resolution takes a very, very long time and eventually I'll get messages in the log saying 'success resolving 'xxxxxx' after reducing the advertised EDNS UDP packet size to 512 octets'.
    I've searched everywhere and there seem to be two reasons why this is happening:
    1. The DNS server is stopping responding on TCP, and is only responding on UDP;
    2. Some other portion of my network (maybe the router) doesn't like UDP packets bigger than 512 octets.
    For the first - is there any way I can fix this within OS X Server? There is no problem in the network since the router itself (running Linux) can resolve via TCP (using the forwarder addresses that are set up in my OS X Server config) instantly, and any clients that I switch from using the internal OS X Server (for DNS resolution) to use an external resolver work immediately too. I'm not sure why the daemon on OS X Server stops listening on TCP port 53 and only accepts UDP - and then only forwards on queries via EDNS via UDP - which is where I seem to have a problem.
    Secondly - can I disable EDNS somehow and just do plain old DNS?
    Some of the threads point to routers that don't like UDP packets over 512 octets, some point to firewalls and adaptive code that closes off ports when an app tries too many times, etc. I've opened ALL firewalls - turned off the OS X Server firewall, turned off the SPI firewall in the router (it's a Netgear DG834 with the DGTeam custom firmware), and I'm as far as I can go without buying a new router.
    If the only answer is 'OS X Server needs a better router' then I'd appreciate what router I should buy - this situation is becoming untenable since the DNS resolution performance of my entire network is unpredictable, and I don't want to have to reboot the Server on a regular basis when there are loads of clients and their home directories sitting on it, since OS X Client gets twitchy when your home folder vanishes off the network…
    I'm happy hacking config files - but can't seem to see anything in the DNS config that would allow me to either turn off EDNS or restrict the packet size to 512 octets (there's a comment in the config file that the directive is ignored for this one, fat lot of help that is). As to why the server itself stops listening to TCP port 53…. I have no idea and I can't find a solution with a search.
    So in the absence of solutions - can anyone help me with a workaround? The only 'answered' question in this domain was 'answered' with the OP finding a workaround in their router firmware that changed the DNS cache packet size. I can't find anything like this in my router config, so I can't use this workaround. Are there any workarounds I can apply to my OS X Server, that don't rely on my router?
    Yes, I know the router isn't that special, but it's a small business network. Advice on an upgrade would be welcome but doesn't solve the problem for me now. I'm based in the UK, if anyone also in the UK can recommend a suitable small-business NAT router I can use then I'd find that helpful, but I don't want to be told to purchase an enterprise-class router, turn off NAT and be recommended a store in the USA as it won't be that helpful
    Ideally there'd be a way to tweak the DNS server on OS X to not bother with EDNS, or to stick to 512 octet sized packets (can I do this globally for all UDP from my server?), or to keep working on TCP…
    Anyone know? The machine hosts client homes internally and serves mail, web and DNS externally. It's not a high-traffic system and it sits at the end of a business-grade ADSL line. I'm not being DoS'd - this behaviour seems random as to when it strikes. I try to restart the named daemon on the server when it strikes, but I need to be on the network to make that happen….
    Solutions appear to be out, but I'd really appreciate a workaround. Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Rob,
    Not much of a MAC person myself however this support matrix might help:

    Seeing your getting a few Java errors perhaps the JVM in CF7 1.4.2_09 is too early for MAC OS 10.6.4?

  • How to turn off  "DEBUG SOURCE=cs Setting status to 304 for file="  in access.log

    I see this entry in the log file every few seconds. How can I turn this OFF? I
    can set the EnableLogfile to false but then I don't get any logs. We are running

    Pat:
    I dont see this string appearing anywhere in the src in any version of th
    510 line (all Sp's included).
    What version of 5.1? i.e. what SP?
    Are you using extended log format? Did a developer write a custom elf logger
    package?
    What are the ELF headers at the top of the access.log?
    Cheers

  • Exchange Server 2010 - Message Tracking Logs - Log file creation

    Hi,
    I would like to find out on the behavior of the exchange server in the way that it logs the message tracking.
    Currently the parameter used is
    MessageTrackingLogMaxDirectorySize - 10GBMessageTrackingLogMaxAge - 30daysI would like to check when the Max Directory Size has exceeded the value indicated, does Exchange server immediately deletes the oldest log file to make space for the new logs?And in the event that the oldest file is being open or locked, will exchange server delete the next oldest file? or it will reattempt to delete the "locked" file for a period of time?Lastly, when these "oldest" files is not able to be deleted, will exchange server stops logging new tracking events?Thanks!

    Hi Zack,
    Thank you for your question.
    If you have configured the parameter of “MessageTrackingLogMaxDirectorySize” and “MessageTrackingLogMaxAge”, we think you have enable circular logging, it will delete the oldest message tracking log files for new log file when the either of the following
    conditions is true:
    The message tracking log directory reaches its specified maximum size.
    A message tracking log file reaches its specified maximum age.
    In addition, it didn’t exceeded the value indicated.
    If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Access log

    Hi,
    I've deployed an Enterprise Application on 10g Oracle Application Server. But the Issue is that I'm unable to access the Application Login Page and the browsers give me the error, that the Page you are trying to access does't exist.
    Now I want to diagnose where the actual issue resides and for this; we have to first look at Logs. Kindly tell me where the Oc4J logs or access logs for Application Server are made so that I can check them and try to solve the issue.
    Regards,
    Kamran

    hi Kamran
    To see access.log or error.log , check the following:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs
    tail -f access.log
    and to check application log for your oc4j_instance, try the following generic address:
    $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/instance_name/application-deployments/application_name/application.log
    so if your application name is BI_FORMS then use that above.
    hope that helps!

    After many hard working days.i finally found the error cause,i needed to make weblogic datasource also ADF doesnt work on internet explorer browser,it works on safary.hope it helps somebody

  • How has access.log file configured in WebLogic server 10.0?

    1.) I am using BEA Weblogic 10.0 and my access.log is not getting updated.
    2.) I also need any information as to how this Webblogic server forms chunks (ex....access00011.log,access00012.log) because i have a software called AWStats which merges all these chunks into 1 single access.log file under its subdirectory.
    3.) I also need information as to how and where the user can specify/ form his own fields which gets displayed in the access.log
    FYI i have 2 servers and i checked under Logging->HTTP->advanced, in both the servers options and configurations are same but in 1 it works fine and access.log is updating but not in the other one.
    Kindly let me know i you have any leads into this issue!
    Thanks,
    Varun

    Hi Ravish,
    Firstly thanks for the reply.
    1.) -----
    What you can do is to set the buffer-size-kb parameter value to "0" in config.xml so that it can start logging once the server starts coming up rather then waiting for the default size which is 8kb to pass.
    Something like below:
    <web-server-log>
    <buffer-size-kb>0</buffer-size-kb>
    <web-server-log>
    For more details check the below link:
    Search for: CR302493
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/issues/known_resolved.html
    --- for this issue i had browsed throught the forum before posting but in my conf file i have something like this instead of <buffer-size-kb>0</buffer-size-kb>
    <web-server>
    <web-server-log>
    <number-of-files-limited>false</number-of-files-limited>
    <log-file-format>extended</log-file-format>
    </web-server-log>
    </web-server>
    So how do i go about the path of debugging now??
    2.) -------
    If you do not want rotation of access.log then you can just disable it from the below console path just by putting Rotation type as None
    Server -> <YOUR_SERVER_NAME> -> Logging (tab) -> HTTP (sub-tab) -> Rotation type: None
    ---- for this in both my servers i have the settings like this,
    Rotation type--> By Size
    Rotation File size 5000
    Begin rotation time 00:00
    rotation interval 24
    files to retain 7
    and Log file rotation directory is left blank (to get created in same directory)
    and also Rotate log file on startup is unchecked.
    so??? what do you suggest!?
    3.) ------
    I also need information as to how and where the user can specify/ form his own fields which gets displayed in the access.log
    ---- regarding this, in my main server the access.log is getting updated and after 4.8Mb its creating 5Mb chunks. So, for example if the entire log is of 15 Mb then access.log stops updating at 4.98Mb and accesslog.out0001 and accesslog.out0002 is created with 5Mb each but the latest entry will be stored in accesslog.out0002 file. I hope i didn't complicate this :)
