Server to Server Justin TV
I have been battling this for awhile, not getting very far
and not much help out there in the forums.
I am trying to stream video from Flash Media Live Encoder 3.0
(locally) to Flash Media Development Server (FMDS) 3.5 (locally on
same machine) and then from there (FMDS 3.5 local) to my Justin TV
channel. I have used FME 3.5 and 3.0 for this without a problem,
but want to move to FMDS 3.5
This appears to be a supported scenerio as outlined on page
69 "Publishing from server to server" in the "Flashmediaserver 3.5
dev guide pdf" that is provided with FMDS 3.5
From my observations, the FME to FMDS stream does work, and I
can view it in the web player app provided by FMDS 3.5
When FME connects to FMDS it fires the main asc and based on
trace messages it gets so far in the process of connecting and
publishing to Justin TV and no farther.
When one uses FME to connect to JTV, they provide an xml file
to load in FME, and this file has the FMS URL and STREAM name that
must be used for connection.
In FME locally I have made the FMS url that of the local FMDS
server plus the app name rtmp://localhost/live_4270649_12345
the app name is the Justin TV secret stream name provided in
the JTV XML file <the one above is fake for security reasons>
In FME the stream name is also the app name which is also the
Justin TV secret name live_4270649_12345
Again, when FME fires to FMDS 3.5 the correct app,
live_4270649_12345, is firing and the traces for mystream.name also
reflect this name for both app and stream.
Below is the content of the main.asc file which does fire
when FME is STARTED
application.onAppStart = function (){
application.allowDebug="true";
application.onPublish = function(client, myStream) {
trace("STEP 1 " + myStream.name + " is now publishing into
application " + application.name);
if (application.name == "live_4270649_12345/_definst_"){
trace("STEP 2 - Republishing the stream to JTV");
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.connect("rtmp://live.justin.tv/app");
nc.onStatus = function (info) {
trace("STEP 3 " + myStream.name + " - nc code: "+info.code);
if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") {
ns = new NetStream(nc);
ns.onStatus = function(info) {
trace("STEP 4 A - Stream Status: " + info.code);
if (info.code == "NetStream.Publish.Start") {
trace("STEP 4 B - The stream is now publishing");
ns.setBufferTime(2);
ns.attach(myStream);
ns.publish( myStream.name, "live" );
Client.prototype.releaseStream = function(){
trace("An FME client just called release stream");
Client.prototype.FCUnpublish = function(){
trace("An FME client just called FC UnPublish");
Client.prototype.FCPublish = function(){
trace("An FME client just called FC Publish");
Here is the trace output from FMDS when FME is started and
then left to run several minutes
An FME client just called release stream
An FME client just called FC Publish
STEP 1 live_4270649_12345 is now publishing into application
live_4270649_12345/_definst_
STEP 2 - Republishing the stream to JTV
STEP 3 live_4270649_12345 - nc code:
NetConnection.Connect.Success
STEP 3 live_4270649_12345 - nc code:
NetConnection.Connect.Closed
An FME client just called FC UnPublish
I never see any trace messages (STEP 4) related to the NS
process, I only get as far as step 3
ANy help is appreciated.
Thanks
One thing I notice is that you're not holding a reference to
the server-side NetStream after it has been created. It's possible
that it might get gc'd. Same for the NetConnection. Might want to
keep a ref to those things and retry just to be safe. Maybe stick
them as properties of the application object.

Lots of research, and didn't find any resolution.
Apparently this is not strictly tied to Windows Server 2012, as I see that Windows Server 2008 R2 , and even Windows desktop users have experienced this issue. With no direct resolution.
Here is a screen shot for reference.......
If anyone should obtain the MS Fix or hear of it, please post so that others who are experiencing this issue can find peace in their day.
I have given up, ended up performing a reinstall. ( sadly)
RFHi RF,
Based on your description, would you please refer to following operations and troubleshoot this issue?
Please use
Sytem File Checker tool to scan all protected system files.
Please
perform a clean boot to check if some third-party services affected.
Please backup the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole. Then delete following two registry key (if exist): LeagcyImepersonationLevel and LegacyauthenticationLevel
Then log off and logon and monitor the result.
In addition, please navigate to %windir%\logs and check ServerManager and CBS log file if you can find some
relevant errors.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Hope this helps.

Lion server VPN + Server Admin Tools 10.7
Hi,
I followed this guide http://macminicolo.net/lionservervpn to try to set up VPN on my lion mac mini server.
I also used Server Admin Tools 10.7 as instructed in the guide.
After completing the steps in the guide, I cannot get VPN to work, plus I have extra problems as below:
my mini cannot connected to the Internet or local network shares. I found under "Network" setting there was extra VLan created by the system automatically showing as "System Test--Connection error". After I delete this extra connection and revert my Ethernet to its original settings I can connect to the Internet again.
Server Admin Tools 10.7 seem to retains all its settings from the guide on NAT, Firewall etc. doesn't matter if I had removed the current server and created a new server in the left pane. Is there anyway I can restore the Server Admin Tools to its programme defaults? I suspect these settings are affecting my networks and I cannot get rid of them completely.
Would VPN still work if I just set it up in the server app? I haven't been able to get it work this way. I also want to find out is your guide for using the VPN to connect to the Internet off the server as a way to bypass restrictions? Do I have to set it up this way as the guide if I just to want to set up a VPN for simple fireshareing?
What did this command in the guide do to my mini? I was hopping if I cannot get VPN to work, then I should at least reverse the effects of this command. How do I undo this command please? "sudo serveradmin settings vpn:Servers:com.apple.ppp.l2tp:DNS:OfferedServerAddresses:_array_index:0 = "192.168.2.1"Thanks BrianFL. This helps hugely. Yes, I just to set up a simple filesharing VPN not the kind of VPN that bypass Internet censorship. I use ethernet connection directly from my router yes.
1. I just need to use the server app to set up a VPN and port forwarding. That is it?
2. The setting I have made according to the guide with Server Admin Tools seems never going away, even after I deleted the server that has all the settings inside Server Admin Tools. Upon creating a new server inside Server Admin Tools, the new server inherits all the settings from the one I just deleted. Any idea how I can restore to Server Admin Tools's defaults settings?
3. Even VNC (I use RealVNC) on the mini stopped working after I made changes according to the guide and deleted all the changes I can find. What is the address format for lion's build in VNC (192.168.0.100:5800?) like? I forgot how it is.
Thanks so much! -

We found that some customers willing to upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 GUI to Windows Server 2012 Server Core recently. This article provides detailed steps to perform the upgrade.
Analysis
Upgrading from Windows Server 2008 R2 with a GUI installation to Windows Server 2012 with Server Core directly
is not supported. If you do that, you will receive the error message below(Figure 1) in Compatibility report:
Figure 1.
In these scenario, you can upgrade to Windows Server 2012 firstly. After the upgrade process is completed, you can switch freely between Server Core and Server with a GUI modes.
Produces
You can follow the steps below to perform an upgrade from Windows Server 2008 R2 with a GUI installation to Windows Server 2012 Server Core mode:
1. Upgrade to Windows Server 2012 with a GUI mode
1) Firstly, please boot into Windows Server 2008 R2 with a Windows Server 2012 installation DVD inserted.
2) Select the operating system you want to install with a GUI mode.
We can see 2 options (Server Core Installation or Server with a GUI) for each operating system version. (Figure 2)
Figure 2.
Note: Please make sure you have enough disk space on system partition. Or you will get such an error in Compatibility report.(Figure 3)
Figure 3.
After the Compatibility check, the installation will continue. It will take several minutes until upgrading is done.(Figure 4)
Figure 4.
2. Switch the GUI mode to Server Core
Method 1: Using Server Manager
1) Open Server Manager, click
Manger and select “Remove Roles and Features” to start the
Remove Roles and Features Wizard.
2) In Features,
uncheck the box next to the “User Interfaces and Infrastructure” option, and then click “Next”. (Figure 5)
Figure 5.
Now tick the “Restart the destination Server automatically if required” box, then click “Remove”. (Figure 6)
Figure 6.
Method 2: Using Windows PowerShell
There are multiple ways to remove the GUI via Windows PowerShell, we introduce the way of using the ServerManager module.
You can also run the commands in Windows PowerShell with an administrator to remove the GUI feature:
“Import-Module ServerManager”
“Uninstall-Windowsfeature Server-Gui-Shell –Restart”
or
“Uninstall-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Shell, Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra –Restart”
It will take a period of time to remove the GUI feature and reboot. When the system boots up, you will get into the Windows Server 2012 with Server Core mode. (Figure 7)

How to connect SharePoint 2013 and Reporting Server - SQL Server 2008 - in native mode
Hi,
We are running Report Server on a SQL Server 2008 environment in NATIVE mode.
We just installed a SharePoint 2013 environment. The SharePoint roles are installed on a single server and we are using a seperated SQL Server 2012 server.
The goal: Display reports created on the Report Server in SharePoint 2013.
The problem: I cannot get the two environments connected.
I've read a dozen or more blogs but are currently more confused then before.
What are the steps I need to take to connect the two environments?
What options do I have in displaying the reports in SP2013 - do the reports need to be on the Reporting Server or can I add them to a document library... or are there other options?
Thnx!Hi Sander,
Thanks for posting your issue, Have you activated required SharePoint 2013 features in your site collection? also, Install Report builder Model in SharePoint 2013.
Kindly browse the below mentioned URL to setup reporting Server step by step
Note: In blog, Author has taken SQL SERVER 2012, but you can try the same with SQL SERver 2008

Weblogic Admin server - Configuration/Server Start/Arguments ignored?
Hi,
I'm trying to specify a http proxy for a WebLogic Admin Server in order for an application to access external resources. I've placed the settings into the "Server Configuration / Server Start / Arguments", and verified that they have been saved into the config/config.xml file for that domain:
<server-start>
<arguments>-Dhttp.proxyHost=[XXXX] -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080</arguments>
<password-encrypted>[XXXX]</password-encrypted>
</server-start>
However, no matter how I start the server, these settings are ignored despite that the documentation states these should be added to the java command line.
starting weblogic with Java version:
java version "1.6.0_19"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_19-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.2-b04, mixed mode)
Starting WLS with line:
C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JDK16~1.0_1\bin\java -client -Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:CompileThreshold=8000 -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dweblogic.Name=AdminServer -Djava.security.policy=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\WLSERV~1.3\server\lib\weblogic.policy -Xverify:none -da -Dplatform.home=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\WLSERV~1.3 -Dwls.home=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\WLSERV~1.3\server -Dweblogic.home=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\WLSERV~1.3\server -Dweblogic.management.discover=true -Dwlw.iterativeDev= -Dwlw.testConsole= -Dwlw.logErrorsToConsole= -Dweblogic.ext.dirs=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\patch_wls1032\profiles\default\sysext_manifest_classpath weblogic.Server
As a test I created a new managed server in the same domain, specifying the same startup properties, and they were picked up during startup.
If I manually place the settings into the bin/setDomainEnv.cmd batch file for the domain they are also picked up and work.
Is there an undocumented restriction on Admin Servers that they ignore the "Server Start / Arguments" setting, or is there something else I can check as to why this is not working?
Many thanks,
- Micha.Umm... I already pasted the relevant snippet out of the config.xml, but following is the entire file. The startup arguments, as specified in the admin console, are:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=[XXXXXXXX] -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080
which matches what is saved in the config.xml.

HT4814 Is it possible to manage the mac mini server with server app before set up?
The article says using the server app I need to enter the IP address, then the Administrator name and password, but obviously on the first boot these are not configured yet. The article does not mention if this is possible or the server.app can only manage the server after its initial configuration using a monitor connected.
From dim memory... Load Server.app on the client box or use Server.app on some other handy server, and either configure DHCP with the server's MAC address (usually listed on the shipping box) and your intended static IP address and then boot the new target server box, or just boot the new target server box and use Bonjour Browser or the command-line dns-sd tool to find the IP address that the new server box has acquired from DHCP, and then in either case, connect to the new target server via Connect To Server in Server.app via its IP address, specify the root user and use the system serial number (again, usually listed on the shipping box) as the password.

Server Admin | Server Updates | updated to 10.5.5 WITHOUT restart?
A curious thing. I wonder whether anyone else experienced the same, or similar…
When the update to Mac OS X Server 10.5.5 was released, very soon after its announcement, I used Server Admin | Server Updates to apply the update to my Mac OS X Server 10.5.4 (PowerPC Xserve).
I expected a restart to be required.
The update completed, but no restart was required!
Amazed, I made an Apple Remote Desktop connection to the server and found that it was reporting itself as 10.5.5. Definitely, without a restart.
I lacked confidence at that point, so I did restart the server, without being asked to.
I might also try to run the combo updater. Just to be doubly sure that the whole caboodle installed as it should have.
I wonder how it apparently got from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 without a restart; and whether anyone else has experienced such oddities.I don't know what you've experienced
1. Mac OS X Server 10.5.4 on G4 PowerPC XServe
2. Server Admin on my Macbook Pro identified that the remote Xserve should gain an update to 10.5.5
3. I followed Server Admin's invitation.
3. An ARD view of the remote server's display (Apple menu | About This Mac) showed:
* 10.5.5
— with no invitation to restart, no log in.
I simply connected via ARD, observed, thought, "What? 10.5.5? That's impossible. I haven't restarted".
it's factually impossible for a server to go from 10.x.y to 10.x.(y+1) without a restart.
Hence my bug report to Apple

Why do videos in keynote not play audio
