Server unable to connect locally in general

I appear to be unable to connect to anything that is hosted on my server using IE and various other web browsers on the server this makes trouble shooting IIS difficult since it means I have to enable full errors for the world to see.
This page can’t be displayed
Make sure the web address http://www.****.co.uk is correct. (The URL is * for obvious reasons)
Look for the page with your search engine.
Refresh the page in a few minutes
Also I appear to be unable to connect to the local mySQL server for some reason. As stated in the title the server appears to be unable  to connect to anything that is hosted locally, be it 127.0.0.1, localhost or even connecting to its own IP address.
Any help Will be much appreciated, thanks.

They may be able to help over here.

  • Lion Server VPN, Can Connect Locally, Not Remotely

I have both Lion and Lion Server installed on my Core 2 Duo iMac, mainly because I want the VPN feature of Server.
I configured everything correctly for the VPN, and can connect to it with no problems from my iPhone and iPad when I am within my own LAN (the server and the iPhone/iPad are on the same IP range and subnet).
I also used the automatic config within the Server app to configure my AirPort Extreme N Base Station.   Looking at the Port Mapping section of my ABS from within AirPort Utility, I do in fact see that VPN Service (L2TP) is configured with the following UDP ports: 500, 1701 and 4500.  Those ports ARE pointing to the iMac that is running the VPN server.  Firewall on that iMac is turned OFF.
However, I am unable to connect my iPhone to the VPN Server using my Public IP address.  I have tried it from within my network (out of network to internet the back), from my Verizon MiFi or from my iPhone's 3G connection (well, in my area it is still Edge).  The iPhone simply sits on "Connecting" for a few seconds, then an alert comes up stating "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond.  Try reconnecting. If the problem..." yadada.
I AM, however, able to get Web Sharing to work via my Public IP address, as well as VNC.
I also cannot connect to the VPN via the Public IP with other devices like my iBook, PowerBook G4, Windows 7 PC, or iMac G5.  They ALL CAN connect via the local network 10.1.x.x IP address.
Am I missing something here?  I did all of the automatic configurations, and all of the ports appear to be properly open.

Not in my case, Per, no.
I just did a tcpdump between various systems.
For those that do NOT work (client iPhone, client 10.7 and server 10.7) the tcpdumps look like so:

And from there it's all normal.
    What never works:
    10.7 client to 10.7 server
    iPhone to 10.7 server
The breakage seems to happen on 10.7 server here:
    19:12:35.019173 IP Home.60846 > LionServer.4500: UDP-encap: ESP(spi=0x041b007d,seq=0x1), length 132
    19:12:35.052641 IP LionServer.500 > Home.500: isakmp: phase 1 I ident
After that first ESP packet, the Lion Server responds with another phase 1 ident.
    The Leopard server does not.
It may still be something in my setup, but, there's nothing to configure on 10.7 server other than "on" and "off" and some IP addresses, which I'm nearly certain isn't the issue...but who knows.   Either the Lion Server ignores whatever is in that ESP packet, and starts over, or, iOS and OS X are sending it something it doesn't like and is forcing it to reset and start over.

  • Crystal Reports Server :Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters

Hi there, I am getting the following error in Crystal Reports Server  when i try to preview or schedule a Crystal Report on an Access 2000 database.
Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters
The Access database does not have has not username or password and I have left these blank when publishing it, and the Database properties in the Central Management Console also show the username and password as blank.
All other reports are fine is it just reports on the Access 2000 database that give me this errror.
    Anyone any ideas.
    Thanks

    Hi,
ok now you have to make ure that the user used to run the BOBJ services on your BO server (if you hvae windows then this is the local system account), has access to your AccessDB. Normally local users do not have access to network locations so it is advisable to create a domain user, who is allowed to access the directory with your database and is melber of the local administrators group on the BOBJ server. All you have to do then is to  configure your BOBJ services (Use the Central Configuration Management utility to do this) to run under the credentials (Log-on-as) of user you created.

I elected to move some columns from one table to another.
I ran a script to attempt to add the columns to the new table, after deleting the columns, to test the script.
After this, I was unable to do anything with the table involved, I kept getting timeout errors.
I restarted the SQL server instance.

    How do I fix this?
    Thanks in advance,
    David

    Hi David,
According to your description, you come across the error(the target principal name is incorrect.  Cannot generate SSPI context)
Besides Uri's post, this issue could occur when there are duplicate SPNs registered in Active Directory(AD), or the SQL Server service account doesn't have the Read and Write ServicePrincipalName permissions after the change from other users.
To work around the issue, please follow the solutions below.
1.Please check if there are duplicate SPNs registered in AD using LDIFDE tool. If so, please delete them using the setspn tool. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://mssqlwiki.com/2013/12/09/sql-server-connectivity-kerberos-authentication-and-sql-server-spn-service-principal-name-for-sql-server/
2.Please check if SQL Server service account has Read servicePrincipalName and Write servicePrincipalName in the Active Directory service. If it doesn't have, please grant Read and Write ServicePrincipalName permissions.
In addition, there is an article for your reference:

things and nothing has worked.Im unable to to change anything in the lan settings as when i uncheck things it checks them again. As you can prob tell im a bit of a novice to say the least ,please help.Yours AH

    Hello bongolfc22,
If my understanding is right, you can’t use the Internet Explorer 11 to open website, and when you uncheck the option in the LAN settings, it will check it back.
Please answer the following question for better analyzation:
    1. Is the computer domain-based?
    2. Have you made any changes before this issue?
If this computer is domain-based, Please check if other computers have the same issue.
If so , we need to contact the administrator of the domain.
Additionally, we could try to reset Internet Explorer and check if the issue still exists.

    Hi,
I have not heard of that script causing any problems in the past, so may or may not be related.  What are the details of the msdpm service crash found in the msdpmcurr.errlog after the error ?

The local Admin Password was reset to the "original" (after install) one.
Any ideas how to fix the problem?

    Dear all,
the encryption was NO on all protocols.
Because no additional ideas available, i uninstalled the SQL Server on friday.
At the Re-Install Process i got again an error:
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the
other end of the pipe .
    The install process failed.
On google i found the same problem in an other thread:
    http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sqlserver.connect/browse_thread/thread/dbec4a9a271f69a6/7cd22694da3a6062?lnk=st&q=%22Shared+Memory+Provider%3A+No+process+is+on+the+other+end+of+the+pipe%22&rnum=2&hl=en#7cd22694da3a6062
    ++++++
During the installation process of SQL Server 2005, Setup complains it cannot
connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was:
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the
other end of the pipe .
I have checked that the pipe exists (\\.\pipe\SQLLocal\MyInstance), but
everytime the installer attempts the connecting the pipe is closed by the
server and another is reopened. That's why the Client says there is no
process on the other end of the pipe.
I have re-installed 'everything', tried connections via TCP, but nothing
    works.
I have made a small application to connect to the pipe and noticed that
there are 3 instances of the pipe running, one that I am connecting to, and 2
listening pipes. If I write to 'my' pipe SQL server disconnects the pipe and
reopens another too. The difference is that SQL server writes an error
message in the log file. No such luck when the Native client is doing the
    same.
    What more can I do?
    ++++++
    and an answer
    ++++++
I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.
I noticed that a certificate was added to the machinekeys just recently.
    (in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys)
I renamed it to another name and re-installed sql server.
I noticed that sql server ERRORLOG complained about certificate that it
couldn't load and the generation of a self-generaed certificate (see below)
"2005-12-10 21:01:02.30 Server      The server could not load the
certificate it needs to initiate an SSL connection. It returned the following
error: 0x8009030d. Check certificates to make sure they are valid.
    2005-12-10 21:01:02.49 Server      A self-generated certificate was
    successfully loaded for encryption."
    Now the installation succeeded
    ++++++
With Windows 2008 it was really a challange to get access to this folder (!!!)
After clearing the folder the ReInstall of SQL Server works fine.
Now the SQL Server & the SQL Server Agent works again.
The problem was anything with encryption, old certs & files.
I don't think that everyone can afford reinstalling SQL server.
I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.
I noticed that a certificate was added to the machinekeys just recently.
    (in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys)
I think this is what the following blog was saying , a problem with certification
    http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2006/07/26/678596.aspx
    Cheers

  • Unable to connect to local server

    Folks:
When I tried to access an older Mac running Leopard (10.5.8) from my MacBook Pro running Mavericks (Finder: Go: Connect to Server: LocalServer), I was unable to connect and received a message,
'There was a problem connecting to the server "LocalServer".  The server may not exist or is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
I tried deleting any keychain refrerence to local computer.
I tried deleting the list of recent servers from the Finder.
I tried restarting both my laptop and the local server.
    Nothing,
There is a local server icon under the "Shared" section of the sidebar of the Finder browsing window.  I can find no way to delete this listing.
I can access the the Mavericks MBP from the old Leopard server via remote login, but I was unable access the old Leopard server from the new Mavericks running MBP.
    I finally achiveved access by
    1) Turning on SMB sharing for my account on the local server
System Preferences: Sharing: File Sharing: Options: SMB Sharing: MyAccount then storing my password.
    2) On my MBP, connecting via smb.
Finder: Go: Connect to Server: [Enter smb://Localserver.local]
It finally worked, BUT … after successfully connecting to the local server, I now have TWO listings for Localserver in my Finder browser window, the live link and the old link which still says "Connecting."
I can't figure out how to get rid of the earlier afp link, OR how to make it work.  I would prefer to use AFP as the SMB notation from both computers indicates that the storage of my password is not as secure.
    Restaring the computer doesn't help.
I had a similiar problem when I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and I tried many of the same tricks to no avail.  That problem seems to have fixed itself.
    Anybody have any bright ideas?
    Thanks much.

I should have been more clear. This is on an 8-core Intel XServe.
I was able to use Server Admin locally on the machine for weeks. Now I can't. Nothing has changed or been altered on the machine during that period.
I can not connect to the server via Server Admin remotely or locally. I can connect via SSH, ARD, etc. and the system is still serving NFS just fine, so it's just the process that handles communication with Server Admin that is non responsive.
    Something interesting from the syslog:
    qt1 servermgrd[44258]: servermgr_accounts: noteDirectorySearchPolicyChanged (reopening nodes)
    qt1 servermgrd[44258]: -[AccountsRequestHandler(AccountsOpenDirectoryHelpers) openLocalLDAPNodeIfNeeded]: dsLocalLDAP = (null) , error = Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=2000 UserInfo=0x1066a16c0 "Unable to open Directory node with name /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1."
qt1 DirectoryService[31]: DirectoryService has 42000 internal references open (due to clients), warning limit is 2000.
These lines repeated apprx. every 30 secs until I bounced the servermgrd. Now, I see that entry whenever I try to connect to the local server via Server Admin.
Now, this system is not a LDAP server, but I understand OSXS still uses LDAP for local directory info... I've tried restarting the related directory services as well, but still no joy.
It looks like my only recourse is a reboot, which is really not a great option for a dedicated file server. Am I the only one who has ever encountered this issue of Server Admin eventually losing contact with a server?

    $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri
http://<FQDN of Exchange 2013 Client Access server>/PowerShell/ -Authentication Kerberos
    Import-PSSession $Session
So the problem is localised on the server.
