Server unreachable , back after restart -- explanation

A sun fire 480 server because ping-able but not accessible , when we gave up , we restarted the server and everything is fine and the server is accessible. I'm couldn't get an explanation for what happened.
- No crush dump
- explorer shows nothing wrong
What might be the problem ?!

It will be impossible for anyone in the forum to help you to find a root cause.
No one has remote access to the system (and is not EVER going to get such access because that would be a flagrant security flaw), so no one can examine any system logs for details you accidentally missed.
You didn't provide any excerpts to any of your log files, nor any extensive description of that system in your data center (connectivity, assigned usage, or anything else relevant), so it would require mental telepathy to investigate the system.
You have an Explorer file.
That's great.
Go log a SR with Oracle TechSupport and have them examine that file.
If you cannot do that, then just make note on the calendar that the event occurred and go on with your business as usual.

I have a serverprogram from an external company that doesnt start after a restart of the mac that I run that server on. It starts the program but it doesnt start up the server of the program. All settings are right and I have consulted others with same config. After a restart the server turns up in the statusbar but as turned off. So I can go to the statusbar, click on the symbol and choose "start server".
As I cant get the server to start up automaticly I was wondering if I can get the automator to start it up for me after a restart of the mac?

OIM Server Hanging up after restarting

We have deployed OIM 9.1 on Weblogic server 10.3. The OIM server is being hanged when we are trying to restart the server. After several attempts the server is coming up. Please let me know, what is the cause for hanging and can we use Unicast address for the cluster and multicast address for the nodes. the multicast address is same for both the nodes and also let me know if there is any other alternate way to bring the server up without using the multicast address. Please find the xlconfig.xml below.

Thanks for your quick response. Should I have the same Unicast address for the cluster and the nodes or can I have Unicast for Cluster and Multicast address for the nodes. and, Can I have the multicast disabled since it is not supporting our environment. Please let me know if there is any other alternate way.

Application Server cannot start after restart

Dear all,
I have a database cluster with SAP CI running on 2 servers(on SAN), plus 4 applications.
Today we have restarted all the servers, and found that only 1 server with database server and application server (w/CI) can start. All other applications servers cannot start, and in SAP Management Console, it does not show the SAP Instance.
Another problem is that the database cluster cannot move to another server, with error:
"initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'M:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.)."
Can anyone provide any assistant? Many thanks!

Message Server Unreachable (after changing IP address at host)

Hi guys,
I changed the IP address in my server. According to note 403708, I updated the new IP address in /etc/hosts. The note also suggests me to change in /etc/services but I see no IP address for me to update.
Later when I restart my sapinstance, I see the disp+work.exe is "Running, but Message Server Unreachable". I've also updated the IP address in SM59 but I see no change.
This is what I got from dev_rfc.trc:

Anyway my prob is fixed now. Probably the problem is due to I did not restart the server after changing the IP. Anyway everything looks pretty fine now

Hello,
I have been asked to create a test enviroment identical to the production enviroment. So, what I did was:
Backed up the production web application's content database: Prod_WSS_ContentDB
Created new test servers (domain controller, sql server and sharepoint 2013 server) in a new, completely isolated, network environment, without any connection with the production environment (specifically Azure)
Created a new web application in test environment with a new content database.
Dismounted the new content database with powershell: Dismount-spcontentdatabase Test_WSS_Content
Copy the Prod_WSS_ContentDB database to the test sql server and restored it with Management Studio.
Mount the Prod_WSS_ContentDB databe to the web application with powershell:
Mount-spcontentdatabse Prod_WSS_ContentDB -WebApplication http://testsp/
Then, when I type http://testsp in the browser it redirects me to http://testsp/SitePages/Home.aspx
and the site loads exactly as the production environment.
But, after some minutes, or if I restart the Sharepoint Server, when I navigate to
http://sitesp I am redirected to http://testsp/SitePages/Home.aspx
as expected, but the site does not load, the browser just show a complety blank page.
The Central Administration site loads normally.
Trying to fix it I found that if I dismount the content database Prod_WSS_ContentDB, then mount the test database Test_WSS_Content,
then navigate to the site, dismount Test_WSS_Content and finally mount again Prod_WSS_ContentDB, the site loads normally, no blank page, but after some minutes or if I restart the same happens again.
For the error event I receice in event viewer it seems that the problem is related to database. I have not found a solution for this error... How can I solve this?

Server unresponsive after restarting, only sometimes

Hello,
I've been having an issue that will only sometimes occur after a scheduled server restart. My SBS 2011 Essentials server is configured to restart every Sunday so updates will apply. Most restarts occur normally and the server comes back up fine. However,
sometimes the server will restart and then enter an unresponsive state.
What I mean by unresponsive state is:
- The power light on the server box is on, and the Ethernet status LEDs at the Ethernet connection are active.
- The server will not perform its DHCP duties, causing all workstations to hang while trying to start up (Ethernet cable pull works around this and allows login with machine local users)
- Setting a static IP on a workstation and attempting to remote desktop or even ping the server fails.
- Physically using the servers monitor, keyboard and mouse to login fails, it will hang attempting to login to the administrator user.
The only way we have found to get the server up again is to restart it. Pressing the power button and waiting does not shut down the server at all, so, undesirably, we have to hold the power button down to do a hard power off.
After this happens I comb through the event log and look for issues but nothing really stands out, googling the event IDs usually just shows the things I find to be symptoms of the root cause, but I can never find the root cause. Interestingly, the event
log is completely clear from about 5 minutes after scheduled restart to the time we come in on Monday morning and have to give it a kick. Eg, Server restarts at 6am Sunday, last event log item is 6:05am and then nothing, until 7:30am Monday morning when we've
given it a hard power cycle.
Any ideas what I can look at to chase this down?

After some deeper parsing of the event log I found that two virtual box VMs starting as services were terminating for most startups, instead of starting well. I've added these two services to delay automatic start and they no longer terminate on the first
start.

I'm not sure if this has/will fix the problem, since it only randomly happens on restart and we restart once a week.
If it happens again does anyone know what would be the best way to shutdown the computer? As I said above, pressing the power button does nothing, and it only responds to having the power button held down to do an abrupt power off.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

"Startup disk full" - I have at least 15 GB left - after restart back to OK

I'm starting to get these error messages that my +"startup disk is almost full"+ even though there is at least 15 GB left, for sure...
After rebooting things go back to normal but I need to take care of this...

What is the total capacity of your HDD? You need to maintain a minimum of 15% of total disk capacity as contiguous free space. This allows for free space for swap files and for growing the Extents Overflow file of the directory. Since you need contiguous space, maintaining a buffer of 20% of disk capacity gives you a safer margin.
What can you do?
•For one you can slim down your HDD. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk has helpful suggestions for removing items on your drive that will free up space. I would begin there.
•Next, since your free space comes back after a restart suggests that your computer is using a lot of disk space for swap files. You can check this by going to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor. Select the System Memory tab and check the pages in and pages out. If the pages out are more that the pages in it means your computer is using the HDD for swap files. Additional RAM can help this situation. If you have not already done so, maxxing out your RAM will be in order.
•A third measure would be to defrag your disk to create more contiguous space.
•And fourth, you should seriously consider installing a new and larger HDD. This will give you more storage capacity, more room for swap files and for directory expansion. It will significantly improve the performance of your computer.
•Meanwhile, be sure to maintain a backup of your stuff. I suggest a bootbable clone on an external firewire HDD using a utility like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner.

Hi,
There are many version of BI Publisher and also it can be deployed in many app servers. But from your log messages
I can see you are trying to use BIP 11g in Weblogic Server (besides 11g only allows -as of today- to install in WLS).
You should be aware that BIP11g after default installation uses a repository which is part of the BIEE Catalog and also
uses FUSION as security Mode (i.e. users and pwds are no longer controled in BIEE Admin but in OEM).
Therefore for BIP11g to work as default installation you also need BIEE11g to be running. For this i recommend you
to first take a look at one of my posts:

Now, if you only want to use BIP11g there is a workaround. Make a backup of xmlp-server-config.xml
