Serveral questions to CRM On demand release 16

Hi All,
I am using trial version of Oracle CRM On Demand release 16, and I have serveral questions to ask:
1. In the help document "Administering Oracle CRM On Demand/Business Process Management/Creating workflow Rule Actions" mentioned that we can create an Update value action but I can't find this function in workflow rule action.
So do we have to pay for this function just as "Assign a Book action"?
2. I can't add new values to Service Request's Status picklist, it's a read-only one.
Is there any way to achieve this?
Thanks for any suggestion!

Hi
1.The Action 'Update Value' is availble under Triger Event-'Before Modified Record Saved'.
I am not sure why you have to pay for "Assign a Book action". Thats out of the box functionality.
2. Yes, SR status is a read only picklist. One workaround I can think of is to create a Custom field for Status. Then run a WF to sync the values of the Custom Status field with the Original Status field (particuluarly the Open and close values. That will maintain the integrity of all the SR matrices).

    1. Oracle Policy Automation Connector for Siebel v10.2 requires rulebases to be created with Oracle Policy Modeling 10.2.
    2. Siebel and OPA are separate applications with their own system requirements. There is no need for them to be deployed on the same operating systems / application servers.
    3. The siebel-data-adapter.properties file is found in, for example, the siebel-wd-embedded.war files (for Java) in the location described in the documentation, and in the corresponding .zip files (for .NET).
Note that Oracle Policy Automation Connector for Siebel v10.3 is planned to be available on E-Delivery within a few weeks.
    Davin.

  • Siebel CRM On Demand Comparison with competitors

Can anyone share the Siebel CRM On Demand competitors comparison chart details or presentation.
    Thanks!

I do not think there is any independent comparison chart. Every vendor might provide one showing their product beats everyone else. Gartner and Forester ranks CRM On Demand as the leaders in the CRM Space. They are still behind salesforce.com.
I would suggest look at the functions you are trying to achieve and see which software would make sense. CRM on Demand is on a growth curve while salesforce has stabilized in the market space. CRM on Demand has some of the key functionality from Siebel and I can see they making rapid advancements. Salesforce has lot of partners. CRMOD R16 is going to be a major release with regards to functionality. Issue with CRMOD is they never tell you when they are coming out with a new release. This kind of sux!!.
R15 of CRMOD has only 3 custom objects and R16 is expected to come out with somewhere between 8 - 30. Salesforce already has more than 30 custom objects (depending on the version).
Salesforce data center architecture has been questioned of late - since all the salesforce customers were out for 40 minutes sometime last week. This will not happen in Oracle with their Pod Structure. One pod going down wont bring all the customers down.
Oracle customer service has improved over the last year.
If you are looking for any major functionality - let us know and we can help you

  • "Cipher not initialized" when trying to invoke CRM On Demand web service

    Hi,
I'm try to invoke CRM On Demand web service for which there is a pre-req to get a session ID by making an https request. I've the below java embedded code which does that. Same question...did you ever got this resolved...for me, even the simple java program, when run on JDev 11g is ALSO not working. I am getting this.
Using JDev 10g on the same machine (or for that matter SOA 10g) works perfectly.
Have posted this thread too - Getting SSLHandshakeException when trying to login to OCOD using Jdev 11g

  • How does CRM on Demand determine the highest priority Task?

In the "My Homepage -> My Open Tasks" List there is a sortable priority column. If you have a number of tasks in the list with different priorities and click on the priority column they will be sorted in descending order by priority as follows:
    "1-High"
    "2-Medium"
    "3-Low"
I have tried editing the order on the Edit Picklist screen for the Activity Priority field (by navigating to Admin -> Application Customization -> Activity -> Activity Field Setup) but this appears to have no effect on the priority sort order on in the Task List. I have also tried adding new values to the picklist and they always appear as the lowest priority.
So my question is how does CRM on Demand determine that the priority picklist value "1-High" is the highest priority when sorting the tasks?

There is a sort order on the activity applet based upon the priority field. As 1 comes before 2 and 3, it would be sorted to the top.

  • How actually Oracle CRM On Demand and Outlook integration works?

    Hi Everyone,
Here my question means not how to configure this integration but what is behind this technology. Can someone put some light on technical aspect of it? I wanted to know on what technology this integration is based on and other details if u can provide.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Abhay

    Hello Abhay,
Actually I am not looking for this. I need to know on what this integration is based on? Like if it is based on Webservices, API, HTTPS Request like that...! Can you tell me about it?Unfortunately I cannot share details of the design. If you can tell me what you are trying to do, I'll do my best to provide you with whatever information I have available.
Please also it will be great if anyone can tell me if such integration works fine through Citrix connection?Oracle does not currently certify or support desktop or application virtualization solutions, such as Citrix products, for use with Oracle CRM On Demand. Please refer to "CRM On Demand - Support - Citrix [ID 958822.1]" in http://support.oracle.com for more information.
