Servers-maintain

Experts:_
good morning, In Implementation partner Onece project completed, (after going live and support) what type of servers  maintained means( development server and testing server or any other) and IN the same way In client position What servers are there where we maintained. My request BOth of them mainatined 3 servers(DEV, QAS, and PRO).or  not if are not maintained what they can maintianed servers( this is my interview question Bstl).

Hi,
the same 3 tier structure u can maintain..
other wise most of the customer ( if not big size) they go for 2 tier architecture where they install a new server ( say SUP for support) and they copy the PRd server to SUP and by which consultanst can get the scope of getting the real time data as well as they can make/ change configuration if required
if helpful assign points..

  • There are no message servers maintained in the associated SLD Error/Problem

    Hi Experts,
I developed a Web Dynpro in my Composition Environment 7.1 RS5 and I am facing some problems. I maintained SLD Data Supplier and SLD Used By Applications and they are OK. I did three different destinations SLD_Client and SLD_DataSupplier as HTTP (CE) and one more as RFC Destination type (Destination ABAP). All of them ping u201CSuccessfully connected to HTTP destination SLD_Client with response code 200. Content type text/htmlu201D. In my SLD Data Supplier Configuration the  collect and send data are completed duccessfully. In Jco RFC Provider I did one RFC Destination which I called CE1_PORTAL_EPD and is pointed to R3 and is running OK. Finally when I want to maintain my Jco Web Dynpro (WD_RFC_FLIGHTDATA_META) the next message appears:
There are no message servers maintained in the associated SLD. Please contact your system administrator.
I changed my services file which is in C:\windows\system 32\drivers\etc\ services  and add my port as:
sapmsXYZ 3600/tcp # SAP system message port  System ID XYZ production, but the message is still appearing . What else is missing???

  • How to associate servers with the SLD?

When trying to connect JCO's, I get "There are no message (or application) servers maintained in the associated SLD. Please contact your system administrator."
How do I get these servers to be maintained in the associated SLD?

    Hello Adam
SLD (System Landscape Directory) holds information of all the systems (which can be ABAP AS / Java AS / XI or Third party). So, first you should verify in the SLD, the mention of system that you ll be using.
And if your system has not been creating, please go through this link , I m assuming that you want to create ABAP AS system.<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/e7/01503ede925441e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">Creating ABAP Technical System</a>
JCo(Java connector) is a middleware component that enables the development of SAP-compatible components and applications in Java. SAP JCo supports communication with the SAP Server in both directions: inbound calls (Java calls ABAP) and outbound calls (ABAP calls Java).
SAP JCo can be implemented with Desktop applications and with Web server applications. (please go through this link for better understanding )

  • TED with Clustered Servers

    Hi All,
I am wondering what I need to do or even if TED can, set a package path to a clustered volume path instead of setting the package path of a distributed application to a single file server name?
TED itself is not cluster aware but can it be tricked/manipulated?
    eg.
Currently apps come down and the package path changes from:
    \\EnterpriseDistributorServer1\APPS1\TheApplicatio nName
    To:
    \\LocalFileServer1\APPS1\TheApplicationName
As it should and always has with single server sites, however our clustered SAN connected environment is also doing this. Which doesn't take advantage of the clustered servers resilience capabilities at all and renders applications unavailable if LocalFileServer1 goes down.
Instead I want it to go from:
    \\EnterpriseDistributorServer1\APPS1\TheApplicatio nName
    To:
    \\Cluster1\APPS1\TheApplicationName
I want to do this without setting Cluster1 as the package path at the Enterprise level and configuring the distribution to keep the same source path, so our other servers maintain their own versions locally when distributed.
I also don't want to have to create secondary NAL and distribution objects just for the cluster, as I also receive enterprise distributions that I do not control apart from subscribing to.
Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Brad

  • NWDS 7.3 some infrastructure servers cannot be contacted

    Hi
When I am trying to Import the track in NWDS 7.3 I am getting the following error.
"some infrastructure servers cannot be contacted"
I am trying to Import from System Landscape Directory
and in Windows --> Preferences --> Development Infrastructure --> System Landscape Directory
When I place the URL and click on Ping
    The Ping is successful
When I am trying to import a New Development Configuration by doing Import from System Landscape Directory and I can see all my tracks and everything
I can see Remote Development Configuration
But when I try to logon to Development Infrastructure it gives me the following error
"some infrastructure servers cannot be contacted"
Can some one let me know what I need to do to resolve this error.
    Regards
    JM

    Hi,
I think I can explain this. Please correct me if my understanding on the problem is wrong.
    1. If you save a track, then it creates the server side devconfig xml in CMS. (this includes SC dependencies, and information on Nameserver, cbs, dtr and cms urls, nothing more really)
2.In the same time it also registers in SLD, but only the name of the devconfig, and the server where CMS is located. Again, in SLD we find only the info "where is the CMS that holds the details of the devconfig".
Why is this important? Let's say you have 5 CMS servers and all of them are bound to the same SLD.
Now if you created 1 track in each of the 5 CMS servers, then in SLD you'll have 10 entries registered.
    devconf1_dev -- holds data about CMS1 URL
    devconf1_cons -- holds data about  CMS1 URL
    devconf2_dev -- holds data about CMS2 URL
    devconf2_cons -- holds data about  CMS2 URL
    devconf5_dev  -- holds data about  CMS5 URL
    devconf5_cons  -- holds data about  CMS5 URL
this is only one possible scenario, many other can be imagined, needless to say. Just imagine that from the above example some of the CMS servers are bound to other SLD servers.
    Now what happens in NWDS?
You enter into the preferences only 1 URL that is the SLD. NWDS goes to SLD, and retrieves the LIST of development configurations, so NWDS doesn't have to know about all those 5 CMS servers, only about 1 SLD server that takes care about the rest. NWDS talks only to SLD when importing development configurations.
The thing is that the devconfig is retrieved only once (unless you explicitly import dev config again)and will be stored on the client side in a .confdef file, and as of that point no more communication takes place between NWDS and SLD, but NWDS uses the locally stored .confdef and contacts the corresponding CMS directly according to that.
If you see the error about "some infrastructure servers cannot be contacted" then I can think of 2 issues.
    1-
When you import, NWDS has to list all the development configs according to the SLD devconfig list it retrieved from SLD. If CMS1-4 is up and running, but say CMS5 is down (or has any other accessing issues, e.g. its user store includes outdated nwdi communication user, etc), you receive this error.
    2-
The .confdef that is used holds old data, and the server name or port has been changed in the meantime on the server side development config. This case the resolution is to reimport the development configuration after ensuring SLD holds correct data, and the servers maintained there are reachable. If the server side devconf is wrong as well, then ensure that the data on the domain data tab, track data tab are correct, and resave the track. This will recreate the server side devconf, and creates the entry in that SLD that is added on the domain data tab. After this you can go for reimporting the devconfig in NWDS, since that has to be updated too, to avoid that the outdated local .confdef is used.
Check the SLD development configuration list here:
/sld --> CIM Instances (on lower releases it is under Adminstration -- Content Maintenance) -- Design Time Configuration.(as of 730 you can refer to the tab "Associations" to see which CMS is assigned to the given devconfig).
The pinging of SLD is positive, because the SLD is reachable, but the associated CMS servers are not. This is why ping works, but still errors about non-reachable servers are reported.
    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

  • How Front End pool deals with fail over to keep user state?

Hello to all, I searched a lot of articles to understand how Lync 2010 keeps user state if a fail happens in a Front Pool node, but didn't find anything clear.
I found a MS info. about ths topic : " The Front End Servers maintain transient information—such as logged-on state and control information for an IM, Web, or audio/video (A/V) conference—only for the duration of a user’s session.
    This configuration
is an advantage because in the event of a Front End Server failure, the clients connected to that server can quickly reconnect to another Front End Server that belongs to the same Front End pool. "
As I read, the client uses DNS to reconnect to another Front End in the pool. When it reconnects to an available server, does he lose what he/she was doing at Lync client? Can the server that is now hosting his section recover all
"user's session data"? Is positive, how?
       Regards, EEOC.

The presence information and other dynamic user data is stored in the RTCDYN database on the backend SQL database in a 2010 pool:
http://blog.insidelync.com/2011/04/the-lync-server-databases/  If you fail over to another pool member, this pool member has access to the same data.

  • Sender JDBC adapter slow processing in Production

    Hi All,
We are facing an issue with processing time for Sender JDBC adapter.
We tested a scenario in Quality for JDBC to Proxy. In quality the Sender JDBC adapter is taking around 30-50 sec. to send data to PI, but in production the JDBC adapter is taking more then 7 mins to send the same amount of data from DB to PI.
We have checked the setting in PI; it is same in both the systems (Q and P).
Even the parameters for both the servers maintained same.
Can any body please suggest the reason of this behavior and any workaround?
    Regards,
    Rahul

Based on my experience, these are the things that could be used to improve JDBC performance
    1. You may increase the thread count for JDBC related queues. This has to be done in accordance with SAP Note 1084161.
    2. There is parameter in JDBC communication channel called Maximum Concurrency. It signifies that one communication channel can make how many connections to database. This is 1 by default and could be increased to some values like 3-4.
    3. In the Visual Admin/ NWA, there is a parameter called as queueParallelism.maxReceivers which defines the number of parallel worker threads for one receiver channel instance. This should be done following SAP Note 1136790. This can be done along with the first point.

  • Hi everyone, I've a problem thanks

Hi everyone, I'm using CE version SR5 running on Windows XP and I have a problem to configure JCO in R3 to Portal, I did a Web Dynpro Development that calls a RFC from R3 to show some information, I compiled and deployed it and I need to maintain a JCO destination to call a RFC into the Portal. When I've done this in step 3.2 and the following message appears "There are not message servers maintained in the associated SLD"
what should I do? cuz I have a message server, maybe I 've missed something to configure.
    Regards from Mexico

    Hi Israel,
I guess you might not have maintained your ABAP technical system in the SLD.
You might want to refer to this thread for more details on the same.

  • NAT and DNS

I am about to deploy a mail server for a small company behind a NAT router. The company makes use of DNS servers maintained by their ISP.
The OS-X Mail server will be located behind the NAT with a private IP. Instead of mapping services, I am going to map a public IP to the private one of the server.
I just noticed a system log error:
emailserver servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no name available via DNS for 192.168.1.123
Will this cause trouble or can I run this way without expecting errors? I'm not practiced at setting up DNS but if I have to, I will. I am guessing that I only need to set up one record for the internal computers and refer the rest of DNS over to the current ISP?

The system wants to see a reverse DNS which matches the hostname.
My preference is to run an internal DNS for the domain which points internal services to the private addresses and any external services (www.domain.com, ftp.domain.com, etc) to public addresses. You would also have a reverse zone file which has an entry for the server's private IP which matches it's hostname.
By using internal DNS pointing to the private IP, when a machine on the LAN communicates with mail.domain.com it will communicate directly from the client to the server's private address. The eliminates the need for loopback in your router, which although it may work (depending on router) it's ineffecient in that packets travel from the client to the router, where it's translated, then returned to the LAN. You can see how loopback creates more work for the router and doubles the network traffic. In a small network of 10 users, this may not be an issue, but as the traffic increases the burden on your router also increases.
Depending on the services you run, you can ignore this message. It's most important with OpenDirectory and Kerboeros.... A basic file/mail server will complain but it won't necessarily cause any operational problems.

  • Java Application server monitoring?

We have a server farm for a project which involves custom and commercial (third parth proprietary) j2ee
web-applications on varied application servers such as Tomcat, GlassFish, JBOSS, Sun Web/Application
servers, etc. running under Solaris 10.
The hardware/OS parts are already monitored by SMC 4.0; we are now trying to understand whether (how)
    we can monitor individual web-applications.
A bit too often we have some web-application misbehaving without anyone noticing for a long time, and
the server as a currently monitored object (an http engine or an OS application) works just fine.
So far I see a few ways to do it, perhaps some ways are already-known-wrong?
Or perhaps some of my assumptions below are incorrect...
    1) Set up a "response filter" in app servers, so any error output from applications would be intercepted and
acted upon (i.e. snmp trap, email message, simple error message for users instead of stacktraces, etc.)
    - this leaves the app server as a bottleneck which decides whether it has failed; if the failure is due to
lack of system resources, jvm bugs, gamma rays from outer space or phase of the moon - this "decider"
can fail and either give a wrong answer, or none at all.
    - however failure of the application server as an OS application and/or generic HTTP-responder can be
discovered by other, more generic means...
    2) Set up a web crawler (like Halcyon's HTTPping) to send specific requests to each web-application's
URL, parse the results and see whether they fit our expectations. For simplicity it can be a single
JSP page which runs some predefined tests and outputs status.
    - each application's status-checking methods should be custom (URL, request parameters, expected
response template should be maintained) and probably should be part of the applcation's spec, just
    like its any other code.
    - the simple solution with just one URL and one piece of logic to test can be a shortcoming too, though
it can help catch lowlevel problems such as connection pool errors, etc.
    - for reliability (decision not made within app server) some part of logic should be offloaded to an agent
which should implement/use a monitoring engine API (such as SMC)
    3) Parse access/error log files of the servers (find HTTP 4xx/5xx results, stacktraces and other typical
    error signs)
    - an async method - we learn of the problem some time after the failure. Depending on the situation
this may be acceptable or not.
    - not all servers maintain access logs (i.e. I haven't seen a Tomcat or Jboss installation write an access
log by default), and it is a recommended part of performance tuning on Sun App Server - to disable
access logging - so by default we don't have a simple means to grep for HTTP 4xx/5xx statuses
    - parsing error logs seems like a nightmare because they are inherently so unstructured...
I am also not yet certain how we can feed results of any tests into SMC - as results of scripts which
are executed by SMC itself, as SNMP traps, SMTP/JMS messages or in some other manner, or all
    of the above?
Thanks for any ideas and facts,
    //Jim
Edited by: JimKlimov on May 5, 2009 1:21 PM
PS: I meant to mention one more implication. Many of these web-applications we need to monitor are not
quite user-interface guis. Most of them are SOAP webservices, speaking their protocol over HTTP.
Just in case this aspect matters...

    Hi Jim,
You've mentioned that you've already seen Halcyons HTTPping utils, but if you haven't looked in awhile there are also addons specifically for Sun App Server (and Glassfish), as well as modules for regular JVM monitoring, all of which you can try as eval downloads or buy from your Sun rep.

  • Bank Communication Management in different SAP system

    Hello guys,
Right now at our client's company we have a total of 7 servers with SAP running on all of them, but only one of them(the central server "A") has BCM. The rest of the servers maintain RFC communications with it.
Our goal is to centralize all bank communication interface management from payments coming from all servers in server "A".
Does BCM support this, maintaining BCM management from a foreign system? I am guessing you could achieve this (for example) when you run F110, sending payment output via RFC/IDocs from server "X" to server "A"and back.
I would really appreciate your comments on this,
    Thanks!

    Hi Praksh ,
Thanks a lot for the quick reply . Actually I have already gone through these links .
To make it simple I have created a simple website containing some html pages and links.
I have created a web repository and crawl it  for indexing , this time with custome properties of index like 'IndexContentOfExternalLink' & 'IndexInternalLinks'.

    Hi Abhishek,
The Central Management Server (CMS) is responsible for maintaining a database of information about your BusinessObjects Enterprise system, which other components can access. The data stored by the CMS includes information about users and  groups, security levels, BusinessObjects Enterprise content, and servers
    - Maintaining Security , Managing Objects, Managing Servers, Managing Auditing.
SIA is the Server Intelligence Agent. Server Intelligence is the underlying server management architecture that simplifies the administration and deployment of BusinessObjects Enterprise servers and services. When you start a SIA you can configure all, some, or none of the servers contained in/managed by the SIA to also be started. All BO servers in a SIA must belong to the same cluster. The SIA maintains server status according to the settings you specify in the CMC. It processes the CMC's requests to start, stop, monitor, and manage all servers on the node, and it also monitors potential problems and automatically restarts servers that have shut down unexpectedly. The SIA ensures optimal performance by continually monitoring server status information, which is stored in the CMS database. When you change a server's settings or add a new server in the CMC, the CMS notifies the SIA, and the SIA performs the task.
The SIA is automatically configured during installation, but you can change these default settings through the CCM.

  • Clarifications regarding logon groups

    Hi All,
I need some info regarding logon groups. I know we can create and maintain logon groups using txn SMLG.
I'd like to know exactly what logon groups are?
For what purposes do we need them? i was told that logon groups are normally used when debugging applns (so as not to hinder performance). Can anybody throw more light on this? Thanks!
    cheers
    Prachi

    Prachi,
the Logon group is most useful when you have clustered system architecture for your R/3 server. Suppose in a production environment you have 2 or 4 physical servers maintained for you single R/3 system - this is a very common scenario. Now when a user comes to logon - his logon should be redirected to the server node with least amount of load at that point of time. Where the load calculation is done by the message server - this logon group helps routing the user request to the actual server with least load. If you dont use Logon group you are basically asking to logon into a predefined server node among these 2 or 4 nodes. But when you use Logon groups you are basically taking the benifit of the system to decide where your logon should take place actually. Following is a line from SAP Help:
<i>Log on to a group. In this case, the application server with the best response time is selected automatically</i>
    Hope it helps!!!
