I have tried to install a new update of itunes and keep getting the same message:Service "apple mobile device"(apple mobile device)failed to start verify that you have sufficient privilages to start system services) also it has abort retry and ignore as choices below i have tried completley uninstalling itunes but not icloud and keep getting this message anyone know what this is or how i can fix it
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Service Apple mobile device ( Apple mobile device ) failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privilages to start system services
I finally got it to work. I had to reinstall iTunes but THIS TIME I right clicked the iTunes installer icon and selected "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" allowing the Apple Mobile Services to load. I have admin rights on my login too, but I had to select run as administrator in order for Apple mobile services to load.
However, once loaded I was getting an unknown device error, I fixed this by stopping and starting the Apple Mobile Device service. To do this, Close iTunes / Click Start / Type "services" in the search box/click on the icon called services with 2 gears as its icon / Select apple mobile device in the body and click stop followed by start in the left pane. / Launch iTunes and connect device.
This solved the issue for me, good luck. -

I receive a massage that a new version of ITunes was available (11.1.4). I proceeded to update, the download went ok but when installing the Message “Service ’Apple Mobile Device’ failed to start, verify that you have sufficient Privileges to start system Services”
On pressing retry I got the same message.
On pressing Ignore, I got the message “ITunes was not installed correctly, please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)
I reinstalled with the same error messages and the same results.
I uninstalled existing and reinstalled from scratch and the same error messages again.
I try to repair and at the end it said it had installed correctly – but when it tried to start I got the message “This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem” I now get the same message when I first start the computer but when I press ok I receive ““ITunes was not installed correctly; please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)” again.
It appears the update has not only corrupted the operating system (Xp Pro SP3) of my computer but I have no backups to my IPhone, my wife’s IPhone or the three others phones that use my computer.
I hope you can advise me how to recover my backupsHi Iss9243,

this is the message i received while installing iTunes "Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". I had to uninstall and then reinstall iTunes because something wrong happened with the update.
please help me!Did you tear down iTunes and other software? Did you reinstall using administrator priveliges?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I cant download itunes on my computer because it says " service 'apple mobile device' failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. what does this mean? how do you verify this?
I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help? -

hi!
i got an auto-update message from itunes so i tried to auto-update but it said some errors occurred and i have to manually download an installer and do it.
i downloaded the installer from apple and did it manually. but the message come up with is "service 'apple mobile device' (apple mobile device) failed to start. verify that you have sufficiant priviliiages to start system services" and there were options abort, retry and ignore. retried several times but the message kept appearing. so i aborted and searched solutions from here and i tried a few like download a new installer and right-click and do run as administrator. but it seems like it will never install correctly. please help.I wanted to add that i'm having the exact some problem, windows 7, 64 bit. ITunes now will not run as i'm told that it was not installed correct. Reinstall won't work, but uninstall does work. I'm very frustrated.

get error in downloading itunes, apple mobile device failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
how do I verify?Hey there bavalle,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes becuase the Apple Mobile Device service failed to start. I would recommend using the following article to turn it back on and set it to automatically start from now on:

If this does not resolve the issue, there are also steps in the article about uninstalling iTunes, its associated apps and reinstalling it.
