SERVICE BATTERY ON MACBOOK PRO 13" MID2010

I replaced the battery on my MACBOOKPRO 13" with an OEM battery but the battery indicator still says "Service Battery".
I did an SMC reset and nothing happened. I tried to restart and the message is still there.
It is charging just fine and holds the charge but the message "Service Battery" bothers me.
Thanks for your help.

  • Service Battery on MacBook Pro -Mavericks 10.9.4

Upgraded my 2 Months old MacBook Pro 13 Inch retina to 10.9.4 on 1 July 2014. Cannot pin point when this message started displaying but for sure this is after 1 July 2014 as I do monitor battery consumed cycles.
At present it is 19 cycles consumed, machine is always on a power source with a backup and hence minimal battery cycles.  All my other laptops[Non Apple products] perfectly work on this setup.
My work place is a bit remote in mountains and hence nearest service centre is bit far from where I work. Is there a software glitch attached to recent update which I can manage for about a week or 2 or a serious issue with Battery which needs immediate attention?
Regret reposting as there might be other threads but guess none covers whether it requires an immediate fix.

You can try Resetting the System Management Controller, but probably you will have to take it in for warranty work.

  • After a year of no use and a fully discharged battery, my MacBook Pro refuses to accept the administrator name and the password. How can I reset these?

After a year of no use and a resulting fully discharged battery, the MacBook Pro refuses to recognize the administrator name and password (both). It has system OS X 10.6 which can not be upgraded without the information. How can I reset or reistall the administrator name and password?

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.
    Thanks for your comments.

  • HT3053 How long should I charged new battery in MacBook pro?

How long should I charged new battery in MacBook pro?

You can leave it plugged in all the time if you wish.
Once your Macbook is fully charged, it stops charging.
You can see this if you click on your apple logo, about this mac, more info, system report, power.
In any event, it is also a good idea to use your Macbook under it's own power to keep the battery in optimal condition.
As much as possible, try not to fully discharge your battery.  It could do more harm than good to your Macbook.
Good luck and enjoy your macbook

    New configuration I want:
Ram: 8 Gb best of all (what to do with the previous 2GB + 2GB Ram)
SSD:Minimum 128 Gb ( what to do with previous 500 GB

  • Swollen battery on macbook pro 17"

swollen battery on macbook pro 17", laptop running hot, can I remove the battery and still use my computer with ac adapter? Also, what is normal temp for laptop?

Yes, you can remove the battery, but if we're talking about a unibody system, you'll need to take it somewhere to have it removed. The batteries are locked in by a rather unique screw. That's because the under side of the battery is soft and can be easily punctured.
But you can have it removed and keep on using it. It will obviously shut off immediately if power is lost, but otherwise there's no issue. And a normal temp is that the system should only feel slightly warm to the touch.

  • Macbook pro 13inch,mid2010 qwertyu keys don't work after upgrade os x Yosemite

macbook pro 13inch,mid2010 qwertyu keys don't work after I upgrade os x 10.10 Yosemite. but it works on keyboard viewer. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software problem, how can I fix it?

    Hello there, kipolo.
Great job using the Keyboard viewer to troubleshoot your issue so far. The following Knowledge Base article provides a great checklists of steps to pinpoint the issue a bit further:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond - Apple Support
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane in System Preferences, then click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working.  If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly.  Use How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Problem with battery for MacBook Pro 2007

I have a problem with battery that was replaced during video card service 1.5 years ago
Battery health was around 80% and it stopped to work, I continued to use notebook with power cable and after week the battery become like this!
spoke with person in Apple store and got answer that it is not covered by Apple and I will need to buy another new battery.
For me it looks like manufacturing problem and I'm not expecting that after 1 year my battery will die like this! Thanks that it didn't explode!
What I should do in such case?

    Thanks for your reply!
All my battery story is ending with bad taste...
I always relied on quality of the Apple products, it brought me to change all computers and phones to Apple brand. I was ready to pay extra for their products...
This battery has an Apple brand on it and I'm expecting that Apple will take some responsibility for it.
First battery on my MacBook Pro 2007 worked without any problem for 4 years, then it was replaced by Apple service tech person for unknown reason. This "new" battery failed just after ending of 1 year warranty coverage and even deformed in such scarry way. And now I don't have any option to ask if there is possibility that I'm experience a manufacturing defect! And I know that it is possible, internet is full of negative comments for these batteries!
Now I'm asking myself again, if it worst to buy Apple products? Are these products have proper quality?

My 2011 Macbook Pro needs the battery Serviced, I know that means replaced, what can I expect to pay for this service?

Whether the battery is OK after 2 year of Non Use is anyones guess. More then likely yes but really Who Knows unit it is taken out of the box and turned on.
As to your other questions that is really up to you.
    Good Luck & Best Wishes.

  • Battery on MacBook Pro drains very fast (even in sleepmode!)

After upgrading to Leopard, my MacBook Pro has become almost unusable as a laptop, since the battery drains very, very fast (I get around half the battery time as before the upgrade).
What's more.. It even drains battery when in sleepmode. When I close the lid or choose "Sleep" from the menu, it now takes several minutes for the machine to enter sleepmode (when the white LED starts pulsating) -- this used to take only 10-15 seconds.
In one incident I had left my MacBook Pro connected to the charger for the entire evening, and the battery was at 100% when I disconnected the charger and put the machine to sleep. I verified that the LED started pulsating and the fans stopped blowing, and went to bed myself. The next morning, the battery level was at 3% when I opened the lid and the "Warning - low battery"-message appeared immediately.
What's going on? ..and now I can't even check for software updates any longer (broken) - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1274099&stqc=true
I have never had issues with my Mac before, but this is starting to near Dell-levels of dissatisfaction!

First, you should remove your serial number form your post.  However, since you posted it, I looked it up at https://selfsolve.apple.com.
That's not a valid iPhone serial number.  I think you may have a counterfeit device.
Update:  There are no legitimate sellers or service providers of iPhones in Oman: https://locate.apple.com/om/en/
You either bought a counterfeit device, or you bought a grey-market import.  Either way, you're not going to get service for that device in that country.  Since the serial number you provided is invalid, it most likely was a counterfeit.  Go get your money back.

  • Battery and macbook pro

My macbook was fine when suddenly it turned off and now its not charging !it wont also turn on !  PLEASE HELP ! I don't want to lose any data . And my battery is not removable

    I got a similar problem.
In my case the battery won't charge and I need to be connected to power to use my MacBook Pro. If I click on the battery symbol it says the battery should be replaced. The device is just 10 month old! I also purchased the Apple Care Plan. I called the hotline and was told by the Apple representative that this is covered by my warranty, but there is no appointment available in the next future at the nearest Genius Bar (about 40 Miles!) because of the new iPhone. I was also told by the rep this would be the only way to get my device fixed.
I was under the impression that the extra money I spend for the warranty extension would grand me the possibility to exchange in advance or at least send the device in?
What about service quality and customer satisfaction?

  • Battery Life - MacBook Pro - 403 Cycles?

I bought my MacBook pro in 2009 and we have a great relationship. It's a refurbished model so I wonder if there was something wrong with it from the beginning.  I have gone through two batteris and they are both total garbage.  When I unplug it, it only lasts like 15 minutes. With iStatPro, it says I have 12% health and 403 Cycles.  Any suggestions for what to do?  I don't really want to buy a new battery and I want to be able to use this laptop without being a desktop.
    Thanks!

If your MBP has a bottom cover made up of a large back section that's screwed on and a smaller front section that is easily unlatched and removed to change the battery, its battery is expected to retain 80% health (80% of its original Full Charge Capacity) after 300 cycles if properly maintained, and beyond that all bets are off. Battery health typically falls off pretty sharply after then. If you have one of these batteries, it has given you the service it was designed to give, and you have no cause for complaint about it.
If your MBP's bottom cover is one piece, it has a built-in battery that you aren't supposed to remove yourself, and that battery is expected by Apple to retain 80% health after 1000 cycles. If you have this type of battery, it has failed prematurely, and your disappointment in it is understandable. Take it to an Apple Store and ask to have it tested for defects. If it is found to be defective, Apple may replace it free of charge. Your chances of a favorable outcome will be best if you are calm and polite. good luck!

  • New Battery on MacBook Pro 17 inch

    Hi,
I am not sure if I should buy the new MacBook Pro 17" due to the battery. What really happens after 5 (five) years? Do I have to buy a new one Macbook? or Should I buy the one that has a replaceable battery?
    Thank U

Bring it into an Apple Store or maybe an authorized service provider. The cost of the battery replacement service will be the same as the replacement batteries for older Apple portables. It's $179 (US) for the 17".

  • How do I get support service for my MacBook Pro that was purchased in the U.S. if I'm traveling internationally?

My MacBook Pro (purchased August 2010) crashed at the beginning of a 2 month trip in India. Whenever I turn it on, I get either a grey screen or the apple logo and then a message telling me to restart my comp (this happens when I try to boot from the disc).  I've done everything short of cracking the case open to reposition the HD, and that's only becuase I can't get my hands on a adequately sized screwdriver.
Any thoughts?  How do I get my computer services while in India? I'd be okay with shipping, but I can't even get a hold of apple without spending an astronomical amount in cell-phone fees.  Help?

If this happens when you try to start from the installer DVD, then you have a hardware problem. Getting it repaired in India probably isn't easy to do. You could arrange with Apple to ship back to the US, but you would need to arrange with AppleCare for that.
    You might try Apple's India support numbers: (91) 1800 4250 744 or (91) 80-4140-9000.
