I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook, covered under AppleCare until August 7th, 2013.
My battery has recently started acting strangely, or to be more specific it doesn't act as it did previously.
I thought my charger might be broken, and I replaced it, but the problems are still present.
- The total charge my battery holds has been strongly reduced in a relatively short period of time.
- The battery will NEVER become 100% charged. It stops at 98 or 99%.
- The cycle count seems a little high considering I rarely use the macbook without being connected to a power source.

A year and a half ago I moved to China, and I have continued using my macbook as normal after the move. Could the change in battery performance have anything to do with the electric currents being different over here? My macbook was originally bought in Europe.
I'm wondering:
- Will my battery have to be replaced?
- Will it damage my computer if I don't replace my battery?
- Does AppleCare cover service/repair in this situation?
My closest Apple Store is in San Li Tun, Beijing.
- Could I go there directly and inquire about service, or would I have to contact them online first/make an appointment?
- How much would a new battery cost if my battery ends up needing replacement?

Since you have Apple Care I would call and make an appointment for the Apple Techs to evaluate the battery. Your battery has less than the 1000 cycle life considered normal.

Basically only for the first year and only if Apple deems it defective. It is seen as a consumable item and not covered under Applecare.

Power brick covered under AppleCare?

I'm having some odd issues that seem to be the fault of my power brick (but who knows?). If I leave my PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz machine plugged in for 10+ hours or so, the computer will stop recognizing that it has power. The light goes out from the ring where the cord plugs into my powerbook, and the battery slowly drains if the machine isn't asleep.
Unplugging and plugging back in the power cord doesn't work. The only thing that works is unplugging the power cord from my surge protector and plugging that back in. Or, removing the brick extension cord and reattaching it to the brick.
Has anyone had similar problems and/or know if the brick is covered under AppleCare?

the power unit is covered by the same warranty/applecare cover that applies to the device it came with
from your description imho it is more likely that the power unit is faulty than that a fault with the pb is causing it to shut down

If you purchased AppleCare+, you may be able to get it replaced for $79+ tax; otherwise, you will most likely be paying $269+ tax to replace the phone.

AC Adaptor covered under Applecare?

My AC adaptor has a frayed cord and it does not look good for a DIY fix. Before I rush out and buy another one, does anyone know whether this would be covered under my Applecare contract? The Lawyerspeak in the Applecare package and on the web site doesn't explicitly say yes or no on this question.

Yes it is covered even without Apple Care. There was a recall of the adapters a while back. Apple does not announce their recalls, but if you search, you will find their support documents indicate you should make an appointment with your Genius Bar (or call AppleCare) and they will swap it out for a new one at your appointment/
DO NOT walk into the store. They will shrug their shoulders and direct you to the wall to buy a new one. You MUST make a Genius Bar appointment. Bring your faulty adapter in -- they'll swap it out for a new one. No need to bring your laptop too, just the charger.

AppleCare Protection Plan does not cover physical damage and you will have to pay for an out of warranty replacement.
AppleCare+ also does not cover physical damage but does give you 2 incidents to use for a situation such as this which provides a further discount to a normal out of warranty replacement fee.

15" MBPr scroll lag: What are you experiences servicing this under AppleCare?

I'm one of the many suffering from the dreaded and well documented scroll lag. Have tried literally everything to fix this on my own, but have had no success. Using a tool like QuickRes to force non-HiDPI has helped; I've been using this band aid solution for well over a year now..
I have a 3 year AppleCare warranty.. What are your experiences with trying to get this serviced? I can't see this being a hardware issue, but then again, it very well could be. It doesn't look like any 13" MBPr's suffer from the same issues? I know it isn't typical for Apple to give out full replacements.. There's been users that have reportedly had up to 9 repairs / replacements, and this doesn't sound like something I'd want to go through.. Countless hours over the phone, at the Genius Bar, the wait times for repairs..
Is this issue directly related to the problems with the LG / Samsung displays? I can confirm I have a Samsung.

Ask for a new unit or a refund. Go for the fourth time or even the fifth. Its an expensive machine bought with hard earned money.

Battery Not Covered Under Supplemental 3 Year Warranty

After 889 cycles my MacBook battery died, but that was a few months short of the end of my 3 year warranty. I was dismayed to be told that I'd have to pay $150 Canadian to get it replaced, though I was still within my warranty period. So I asked if I could get some expected times for other components to expire, such as the screen display but didn't get what sounded like a straight answer. In the end I was told that if I replaced the battery that my MacBook would "probably" last another year or two. This idea that the battery is "a consumable" seems more than a bit of a stretch, considering the replacement cost and its essential nature. I'm shocked with this shabby warranty coverage, and especially perturbed that THE SAME POLICY APPLIES TO MY NEW MACBOOK PRO even though the battery is an integral part of the newer machine, requiring the machine to be taken apart for replacement. This is the kind of "read the fine print" behaviour that gives business a bad name.

My iPhone lightning cable is starting to fall apart.
I never take it anywhere. It just stays plugged in at home and all I use it for is connecting to my iPhone 5 for charging, etc. So it's definitely never been abused.
It came with my iPhone 5 which I got October of 2012, so the iPhone 5 itself is still under the 2 year AppleCare warranty. Do they cover the lightning cable too? I can't believe it has started to wear out like this just from daily plugging in.

Here in Japan it was even easier than that. I just had to call AppleCare and they will deliver one by express service, and pick up the old one. No need to make an appointment, or to actually go anywhere.
