Service battery shows in battery window?

I have the following
Battery Information:
  Model Information:
  Serial Number:          W0031TRERE1LA
  Manufacturer:          SMP
  Device name:          bq20z451
  Pack Lot Code:          0000
  PCB Lot Code:          0000
  Firmware Version:          0201
  Hardware Revision:          000a
  Cell Revision:          0165
  Charge Information:

  Fully charged:          No
  Charging:          Yes
  Full charge capacity (mAh):          4292
  Health Information:

  Condition:          Check Battery
  Battery Installed:          Yes
  Amperage (mA):          327
  Voltage (mV):          12590
conditions says check battery, but, the battery icon says service battery. This is on a three yrear old macbook. Should i take it in for service, or is this not necessary?

If a Mac portable's battery is unable to hold a charge for long (or at all), the Battery menu will display either a "Replace Now" or "Service Battery" alert. If you see this, and if the battery in the Mac portable is removable, try removing and reseating it. Make sure the power cord is connected to your computer and a power outlet. If the battery is not removable, it may be necessary to reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Your portable Mac's battery may need to be inspected and/or replaced if the issue persists.

Also, in system info in your utilities folder, copy and paste your batteries stats. It's  under "power".

  • Battery shows charging but stuck on 28% and does not hold charge

i am using HP DV6-6107tx, i got a new extended battery from anker which seemed to be running fine untill it discharged while i was playing watch dogs.
now my laptop wouldn't power on just on the battery, everything works fine if it is on charging, but the battery does not hold charge and my system powers off immediately on removing AC adapter. the battery shows "28% Charging" but does not increase or decrease the percentage even after hours of charging both while system is on and off.
i checked the battery in battery test from HP Support Assistant and it says that the battery status is ok, now i have tried the below methods with no luck :
power off and press power button methods.
uninstall and reinstall battery from device manager methods.
    battery check from HP Assistant.
    updating Bios to F.1b method.
    updating the HP Support Assistant.
and all the other methods i could think of or read on HP's site.
can anyone guide me as to what is the issue here ?       i don't have another machine to test my battery on, the charging lights are fine except that the light does not change color which it did on full charging the battery. i did try on 2 different adapters.
now if it were a motherboard or IC issue, would it not have said 'not charging' in windows ? in my case it says charging.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, M_Bilal
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
That you for provided such a detailed post with what you've already completed, for the issue with your battery. I will try to guide you further.
I would like to provide you further documents for troubleshooting, but you've essentially completed what I have for this issue. The only step left, would be to test the battery.
You can do this with another battery, or in another notebook. I know you mention another machine, but if you know someone who does or someone who has a compatible battery. This would test that. You could even see if a local computer shop could test it.
The reason for this, is if the battery is the problem, it's much easier and more affordable replacement. Also, you mention it being new, might have warranty.
The other possible cause to the issue you've touched on, that would be the system board. Testing the above, would just confirm if this is the problem or not. From there you could decide on what you'd like to do.
I know, there really aren't many suggestions here, but I hope this can provide you with the next step.
Let me know how things go, with the route you choose to troubleshoot.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%.  This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
    Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month.  Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it.  Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly.

That just usually means the battery needs to be recharged.  If you have already tried recharging it, see some of the troubleshooting steps in this Apple support document.

I've recently purchased the Hp Pavilion x2 10-020nr about a week ago, and have used it moderately everyday since.
I have not over-charged it or downloaded any malicious apps/software (as far as I know) but today I tried to turn it on after charging and all I got was a black screen that says

    Hi sanjoyapple,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that it can be concerning when your battery is not functioning as you would expect. There are several steps that I would recommend in this situation to troubleshoot. Troubleshooting the MagSafe adaptor and possibly resetting the SMC would be two of these steps. Please read over the attached article for instructions and more information on troubleshooting batteries.

  • Why is my battery showing it's fully charged at 95%?

Why is my battery showing it's fully charged at 95%?

that's normal.  between 95%-100% is considered a full charge.  It's to help extend the life of the battery.

  • Problem Macbook Retina (13"): Battery shows 100%

I have a Macbook Pro Retina 13" (10.8.5), I've bought it about a year ago. Yesterday I was using my Macbook (Word, Safari), without a charger, and everything was pretty normal. When I started my Macbook this morning, I noticed something strange.
The battery sign shows 100% all the time (right corner, between Bluetooth sign and Airport sign), because I worked yesterday evening with it, it was supposed to be 67% or so. While the sign shows 100%, my hours are lowing down. Also the battery won't charge: The charger's colour is yellow instead of amber en it says "The battery is fully recharged.".
In "About My Mac" it says my battery isn't fully loaded, if I use the charger it says it's loading the battery. The only problem seems to be that the battery shows 100%, it blocks the computer to charge my battery or to see the correct 'life hours' of my battery.
I updated, restarted,  shut down, ... But nothing helped. I also did a little search on the internet, but I didn't find a decent solution (I tried different things).
I don't know what the problem could be, less than 12 hours ago everything was working fine.
    Can anyone help?
Hopefully the problem is clear, I speak Dutch so I had to translate the problem. I don't know if all the words are correct.

  • Mac book pro not showing low battery waring

hi....i bought ma mb pro arnd three months back.....from the past few days i have been observing tha my mac is not showing low battery warning when the battery is drained.....plz suggest me what should be done to overcome this problem....thanx...

The first step is to try re-calibrating the battery, sorabh.
See the instructions for this at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
You may also need to reset your SMC - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If the computer shuts down instead of sleeping when it runs out of charge try avoiding using it when it gets close to empty during the re-calibration process and just let it idle until it sleeps. Sometimes, when the battery is very low and badly calibrated , if you are using it a sudden demand for current can cause it to shut down suddenly instead.
If the above processes don't fix it, then have a look under the Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info and check in the "Power" section under "Hardware". Post the figures that are shown there for "Full Charge Capacity", "Cycle Count" and "Condition"
    Cheers

  • My ipod touch battery shows up empty after being charged

Hi, I have had my Ipod touch generation four for a few months and I have noticed in the past week that the battery doesnt show up charged after being fully charged it just displays empty. When I go into an app or a game the battery shows up green and fully charged. So far I have done a full restore and it didnt change the battery at all. The only thing that I had changed in the past week was I downloaded an album onto my computer then put it into my ipod and downloaded a game. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

    Have you tried a reset?

  • My iphone 4s shows 1% battery all day but wont die

My battery shows fully charged when it is plugged in.  when I unplug it it quickly drops down until it is at 1% then it doesnt die and works fine all day.  Is this software?
I have wiped my phone, I have rebooted it, i have hard started it..... tried it all.  what now?

    6. iCloud -- only contacts is on.  I really don't need my Exchange, Yahoo and Gmail to be on Apple's cloud as well.
    7. Calendars -- Gmail and Exchange calendars are on.  But as #6, I don't need my office server (Exchange) calendar also on Apple's cloud.  So it is switched off on cloud.
Turning contacts and calendars on for over the air syncing with your iCloud account is for syncing your iCloud contacts and calendar events only. Turning this on does not route your Exchange, Yahoo, and Gmail contacts and calendar events through iCloud. Completely separate.

  • Battery shows as having charge in System Profiler yet will not run from bat

My MacBook is about a year and half old. My battery just started doing this a few days ago. It shows as not charging. Checking the battery shows that it has 85% power left (this was 86% the day it started). The magsafe connector stays green. The MacBook will not run without the power connected.
I am not sure if this is an issue with the battery, the batteries connector, or with my MacBook. I'm pretty tight fro cash right now and need my MacBook working. I don't have money to throw at parts I don't need. If anyone has experienced this issue before and has any insight please let me know. I'm a starving web programmer and I need to be able to bring my MacBook with me to meet with clients.
    Thanks,
    Steven

Do you think it is software. It will not even boot when the power is not connected. I was thinking it was a problems with ACPI in the EFI BIOS. The strange thing is just a moment ago the magsafe went orange and the power states calculating. This is the first time I've seen the magsafe orange since this started four days ago. I came back to this thread to update it with this little tidbit and saw your reply.
