Service control manager logging system

Hi,
is there any way by which we can configure Service control manager (SCM) in such a way that we stop it from logging certain events , to be specific start and stop of "windows event log" services. can i achieve this by command prompt or using registry
key.
Thanks

System Center Service Manager is not the same as the Windows service Manager. Consider the windows server forums?
Regardless, the default "service started" notices in the system log are configured per service, and are enabled by default. consider http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa984385(v=vs.71).aspx

    Hi Santosh,
Does this issue occur in your personal computer or in domain environment?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Run gpedit.msc
    2. Edit Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assingment -> Profile system performance
    3. Add Administrators and NT SERVICE\WdiServiceHost

    Hi  utkarsh,
Based on the information you provided, the “ Service Control Manager“ is responsible for this. In this case, I would suggest to run System File Checker to fix this.
System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files, you can do it in this way:
1.Open an elevated command prompt: type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
2.and then type: sfc /scannow  hit enter.
Or you can follow the article below to fix this:

  • Functioning of service control manager(SCM)

    hi,
Can anyone give me links where i can find more details about Service control manager(SCM). i have gone through this link
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms685150%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
But it is talking about SCM's functionality. But i want to know how SCM interacts (i.e. various methods and functions used) with the services. i want to know about the internal functioning/working  of service control manager.
can anyone give me any links related to this.
    Thanks,
    jai

    Hi   jai prakashh,
The SCM works in the process below:
During system boot, the SCM starts all auto-start services and the services on which they depend. For example, if an auto-start service depends on a demand-start service, the demand-start service is also started automatically.
The load order is determined by the following:
1.The order of groups in the load ordering group list. This information is stored in the ServiceGroupOrder value in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
To specify the load ordering group for a service, use the lpLoadOrderGroup parameter of the CreateService or ChangeServiceConfig function.
2.The order of services within a group specified in the tags order vector. This information is stored in the GroupOrderList value in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
The detailed steps and introduction can be found at:

  • Services Control Manager Issue

    Hello All,
The other day I rebuilt a computer here using my automated, sysprepped build(which always works), and then I ran my migration script that does a number of things, one of those things being a netdom renamecomputer operation. When the portion of the script
got to the rename computer part, I received the following error:
The attempt to open the service control manager on COMPUTERNAME
failed with error 1818. Unable to determine if the Certificate Authority
    service is installed.
I've never seen this before. Permissions on the services control manager are fine, and I even rebuilt this box twice to see if something got botched in the image process but to no avail. I've tried to research this as much as I can and I can't come up with
anything. If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated!
SIDE NOTE: Does anyone know why when deploying a Windows 7 automated build, once completed, the image doesn't always have File and Printer Sharing enabled in the Firewall? I've noticed inconsistencies with this when building out machines
with my image and I don't understand why.
    Thanks!
    Ron

Figured it out. Oddly, Netdom.exe was not a part of this particular Windows 7 OS-- why, the world will never know. I copied down the the .exe from a machine that actually had it to system32 on the machine that did not have it and presto-- netdom renamecomputer
worked like a charm. I came to this conclusion by running the netdom renamecomputer command locally on troublesome machine rather than remotely and the error message was much more telling(saying that it didn't recognize 'netdom' as a command).
    Cheers!

  • Application Web Service Control Manager detected AWEBSVC is not responding to HTTP requests

    Hi,
We are using SCCM 2012 sp1 cu5 with one primary in the datacenter and a number of local DP's which are presently servicing 200 users, but will rise to 12,000. The Application Catalogue is installed on the primary server.
Once a day we get the above error and the message id is 8101, and sometimes a user will have to click on install twice, with the first one failing (the ones that fail are normally with dependencies which are quite large in size around 250MB)
I'm just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, especially since we will be ramping up user numbers in the next few weeks, and if it could be down to volume of traffic, although the apps are downloaded to the users local DP.
Also, does this design look suitable to service this amount of users, or should I have local application catalogues? The WAN bandwith between the datacenter and the user sites has recently been upgraded and is pretty fast.
    Thanks
    Jaz

    Hi Torsten,
Message ID is in the SMS_AWEBSVC_CONTROL_MANAGER status log and equates to "Application Web Service Manager detected AWEBSVC is not responding to HTTP requests. The http error is 12002.
Then, about 1 hr later in the same monitoring log I get Message ID 8102 "Application Web Service Control Manger detected AWEBSVC is responding to HTTP requests.
At the moment it isn't doing this very often, just once a day at different times normally, but it has also logged this a couple of times as well. I guess it may correspond to multiple users accessing the web portal at multiple times, but wondered if
anyone else has seen this behaviour and how it was fixed.
    Thanks

  • Error occured while performing the operation : Cannot open Service Control Manager on computer FOO. This operation might require other privileges.

My company is splitting in two, so we're migrating half of our systems and servers to a new domain. I have an application that uses AppFabric. We have 3 Windows servers running AppFabric, each talking to a SQL server for the AppFabric cluster service.
On the initial domain, everything was working fine. AppFabric service is running under a service account we'll call DOMAIN1\svc_acct that is the dbo on the AppFabric database. The service account is a local admin on all the boxes. Permissions are all working
    fine.
I've migrating the servers to the new domain and it won't work anymore.
Now I'm using DOMAIN2\svc_acct that is the dbo on the database again. The exact same app servers have moved to the new domain and once again that service account is a local admin on all the boxes. But AppFabric won't work. I migrated the boxes back to the initial
domain and it worked again. I migrated it back to the new domain, and it won't work.
I'm under a time crunch to get this working for the company split. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you could run the installation elevated by right clicking setup and selecting Run as administrator.
