Service Data on other disk

On Lopard Server and Snow Leopard Server you could place the diffrent service data (mail, ical adresbook) on a other disk than the main startupdisk. Where is this option in Lion Server ?

This option is added to 10.7.2.
Open the server app, under hardware click on the server > Settings, and there it is, Service Data.
Unfortunately after one time of moving the data with an error at the end the Edit button is now grayed out .
Anyone any tips?

  • System configuration & services data on boot disk or external volume?

    Assuming a RAID 1 boot disk using 2 large capacity hard disks on a Xserve, which system configuration and services data shall one store on the boot disk and an external volume?
    I am thinking of keeping DNS records and Open Directory data on the boot disk while mail store, web documents and user data in an external volume. What about database file such as MySQL?
    What is the normal and/or best practice in this matter?

    nope. doesn't matter a damm if you put the content on a secondary drive (as long as its plugged in when you want to use it!) ... the benefit of having it on a secondary drive would be to free up space on your system disc, if necessary (useful on a laptop, but means carrying around an extra portable drive for ths content) ... don't use your media drive though, better to save that for your projects captured/imported media only.
    cheers

  • Game data on other disk

    Hello,
    I have my base system installed on a great 24GB SSD and this is more than engough for most normal programs, however, it poses a problem for games with large data files.
    Is there a way to install data files (like openarena-data, 0ad-data...) on my other disk?
    I could only find instructions on how to install packages in a difrend root env. but that wont work offcourse.
    Tanx,
    Joran

    It is perfectly well supported for some time:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mk … _partition
    But it would require having almost the whole system on a slow disk, which is the opposite of what OP wants.
    @jorants
    You could move those directories to a different partition and then make symlinks in /usr/share/$game, although this would make Pacman angry.
    Another solution: mount your other partition under /opt and modify games' PKGBUILDs so all the files are put there.
    Yet another solution, although I'm not sure about this (but if I'm correct then it's the best one): on the slow partition create directories for each game, and then mount --bind them to /usr/share/$game.

  • Want to move iPhoto data to other disk

    I have iPhoto running and its data stored in ~/Pictures per normal. I want to MOVE the iPhoto pics dirs to another drive - how do I point to the new location? Also - I still want iPhoto to import files dragged to Library into the new drive's location.
    Can this be done? How? Tnx.
    blakespot

    I don't know if it's the same for iTunes, as I don't read that forum too often. You could wait for someone elso to respond here, or search the iTunes forum, or post new ? over there.
    As for the iPhoto library, PhillyPhan and Old Toad are the experts. You can safely follow their advice.

  • HT4974 Changing service data storage to other server with RAID

    We have an mac mini server 10.7.5 and an xserve with 10.5.8. with RAID. We want to change the service data storage location from the Lion server to the RAID of the xserve (Leopard). But this share is not available in the list. Any suggestions?

    Very late but these might help...I hope you've moved on from the xserve by now though: Mac Pro is a beast!

  • How to find the max data transfer rate(disk speed) supported by mobo?

    I plan on replacing my current HDD with a new and bigger HDD.
    For this I need to know the max data transfer rate(disk speed) that my mobo will support. However, dmidecode is not telling me that. Am I missing something?

    I just checked my BIOS and my current setting is set at IDE although it also mentions that the default should be AHCI. Currently I have a dual boot of Windows 7 (need it for Tax software) and Arch
    So I guess, when I get the new HDD, I will first set it to AHCI and then install the OSes on it. See if NCQ helps any, and if not I will turn it back and re-install (if I have to). I am planning to have Windows only in virtualbox in the new drive.
    Anyhoo, while I was in the BIOS I found two things which I had questions about :
    1) Under Onboard Devices --> Integrated NIC , my setting is currently set at "On w/PXE" and it says the default should be just "On". Would it be ok to change it back to On since its a single machine and its not booting an OS on any server. I just don't want to have to re-install anything now since I will be doing that in the new HDD.
    2) How would I know whether my BIOS would support a 64 bit OS in Virtualbox? I checked some setting under Virtualization, but they weren't very clear.
    I will edit this post and let you know exactly what settings were present under the Virtualization sub-section.

  • ASO and storing data to multiple disk volume

    Hi,I use Essbase Administration Services 7.1 on Win2000.I use ASO type of OLAP application. I would like to set storage to disk D: (the default is C:). How to to set storage disk volume for ASO type of applications?For block storage type OLAP application is in the database Properties tag in Storage tab. What about ASO type of applications?Is it posible to store data two multiple disk volumes?Thanks,Grofaty

    It is a bit different for ASO models - you need to modify the tablespaces, which are found in the properties of the APPLICATION, not the database.In EAS right-click the app and choose Properties. Go to the Tablespaces tab and that should be what you are looking for.Regards,Jade---------------------------------Jade ColeSenior BI ConsultantClarity [email protected]

  • Data Federator - Building Web Services Data Source - Request Guidance

    Hello -
    I am trying to build a web services data source in Data Federator.
    I have:
    1. In ECC, I have created a web service, proxy, port, endpoint, etc. and am testing it with WS Navigator
    2. I have created a Project in Data Federator of the type web service
        a. Here I have assigned the WSDL URL (generated in ECC) as the URL
        b. I have setup web service authentication using the same userid, pwd in the web services definition (note: I have set the
            web services authentication to 'NONE' to avoing authorization issues)\
        c. I am now trying to "Generate Operations"
    I keep getting the error :
    The File Access Parameters are not valid (directory path = <HERE IS THE PATH TO THE WSDL WITH THE HOST/PORT stripped OUT>; file pattern = document
    I believe that it is finding the WSDL, becuase when I change the WSDL from 'Document' to 'RPC', the error changes with the file pattern = rpc.
    What needs to be done to the file access parameter piece.
    PLEASE provide guidance.  Thanks.

    Ananya,
    We are using XI to load data to BI from source system. XI basically uses the same concept as Web Services - Real time data concept via RFC embeded in Proxies.
    I was using web services to test data load - eventually we will use XI.
    KJs blog is pretty good. I was able to get data loaded - after several iterations and several OSS notes. It is still not perfect - there are several manual steps . I am going to pick KJs brain on that.
    We are on SP10 and looks like there are several bugs in RSRDA. Some of these are addressed in SP11 an SP12.
    Some notes to consider are
    0001003963, 0001008276,0001009260 and 001003265.
    Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Using 2 web services data sources in the same report

    I've been trying unsuccesffuly to use 2 web services data sources in a report. The main report accesses the first web service to get job summary information. 3 fields are are passed as parameters to a sub-report and used as parameters for the sub-report selection. Each report works fine independently, but when I link them together the subreport alway fails to retrieve data.

    Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

  • Unable to find Web Service Data Control in Menu

    Hi
    I am trying to call a web service from ADF. For that, I want to create a web service data control
    As I understand, if I right click on the Model project, I should see the Web Service Data control under Business Tier > Web Services. (as shown in Sec 2.1 of -- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wsadf/adfcomplexwstypes.html#WsProxyPojoControl)
    However, I am not able to find this entry in there.
    I have tried the following things:
    I have tried with Jdev 10.1.3.5, 10.1.3.4 and 10.1.3.1
    I have tried selecting all the technology templates available for creating applications
    - No Template
    - Web Application [ JSF, EJB, Toplink]
    - Web Application [ JSF, ADF]
    - Web Application [ JSF, EJB
    - Web Application [ JSF, Struts,ADF] ......and everthing else...
    I still cant see the web service proxy.
    I next opened the Sample ADFToystore application, and I could see the Web service Data control there !....that means my jdev is not faulty...something else is missing.
    So I tried to see what all libraries are selected.... I saw that a library named 'Web Service Data Control' is there in the project, which is not there in the model project of applications I created. So I added this library to the project but still it did not work..
    Next I added ALL libraries that I could see in the libraries section of Project Properties....still no luck
    I am sure I am missing something basic. Can anybody please help.
    Rgds,
    Amit

  • No data in generated document/web service data source/complex response type

    I can define a report with a template with the BI Publisher server and the Template Builder Desktop plugin. When I use an sql statement as data source the preview functionality in Word and in the browser (logged in to the server) results in a correct report, with the correct data from the data source.
    When I use a web service as a data source I can still generate and preview reports but no data from the data source is visible in the reports. However this data is available in the Template Builder plugin in MS-Word.
    How do I know this ? When I try to insert a field from the data source into my rtf template the plugin shows a screen with the available fields. Or actually, the screen shows all fields returned by a dummy call to the web service. When I click on a field it shows the value returned by the web service just after the test "Example". I have set up my web service such that it always returns the same response.
    The field I want to show is in a repeating record, but it does not make a difference when I surround it by a group:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup[1];./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    Neither does looping over all fields display any data:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup;./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    The fact that the response of my web service data source contains repeating records might be different from what others have tested so far.
    I also found two other features when defining reports. I mention them here because they could be related to my problem. When I define two data source for my report, a web service and an sql query then only the fields from the sql query are visible in MS-Word/Template Builder. Even when the Data Model specifies the web service as "Main Data Set". And the "Default data source" is always a database even when the Data Model only defines a web service as "Data Set".
    Edited by: CalculateOnline.org on May 21, 2010 2:36 PM: changed title

    Unfortunately I can not test against a public webservice and follow the examples in the tutorials, since BI Publisher does not seem to offer any proxy configuration to connect to the internet.
    My local webservice returns the following data, visible when viewing the report from the backend, when no template has been defined yet:
    <ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse xmlns:ns2="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/validationOperations" xmlns="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/common">
    <ns2:responseHeader>
    <resultaatcode>OK</resultaatcode>
    </ns2:responseHeader>
    <ns2:body>
    <ns2:validationGroupList>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep1</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop1</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 1</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep2</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop2</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 2</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    </ns2:validationGroupList>
    </ns2:body>
    </ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse>
    After defining the template, the values of the first group are visible in MS-Word as well, as example values.
    I put the the template in a public place:
    http://www.calculateonline.org/projects/bipublisher/template1.rtf
    Just in case you need the wsdl as well:

  • How can I create a query with web service data control?

    I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. I googled, but cannot find anything on the query with web service. I cannot find a "Named Criteria" in web service data control like normal data control. In Shay's blog, I saw the topics on update with web service data control. How can I create a query with web service data control? Thanks.

  • HT4974 How can I select a remote volume (NAS) as my service data storage volume?

    Hi everyone,
    I have been struggling with the following:
    I have Mac OS X Server (the Mountain Lion add-on) running on a Mac Mini (2009). Ever since the upgrade to Mountain Lion Server (10.8.2) I have been wanting to store the Service Data on my Synology DS412+ NAS. The reasons for this are: greater storage capacity, speed (my NAS is fast) and reliability through RAID5.
    The instructions provided by Apple Support point towards the Server App: go to Hardware > Server > Settings > Service Data (click Edit) and select the volume where you want to store your Service Data. However, this only lets me select the volume(s) of my Mac Mini or USB-connected volumes (if present). I would like to select a network share on my NAS, but mounted network volumes do not show up in the list.
    FYI, I have connected my NAS to the LDAP service running on Mac Mini Server, so all users have access to it based on their network accounts.
    I hope someone has pointers or even conclusive advice how to go about. Many thanks in advance.
    Jannem

    Works only when the volume is mounted as iSCSI target :

  • Web Service Data Control ADF

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application using Web service Data control in Jdeveloper 11g TP4. This web servcie returns complex data type: that is an object.
    while creating data control using wizard : Web service Data control, I am able to get the data control having input patrameter and return object and on exapnding that in data control palette I am able to get all atrribute of that objects.
    Data control Palette:
    operation : viewRequest(String)
    Parameter
    REQID
    Return
    viewrequest_result
    ReqID
    Product Code
    Quantity
    Price
    I have created a simple JSF form by draging and droping the components fron Data control palette. There are two problems that I am facing while running the application:
    1. Getting NullPointerException for the input parameter stating that input parameter can not be null: Error while building SOAP request
    oracle.adfinternal.model.adapter.webservice.provider.soap.SOAPProvider setParameters
    Value for parameter 'USRID' cannot be null
    2. Setting that parameter with a default value I am able to call the web servcie and web service is successfully get invoked too and returns the response but the problem is that on Jdeveloper JSF screen it is not showing the output. I have created a read only form by dragging and dropping the return parameter from Data control palette. Even though the reponse is not getting dispalyed.
    Do i need to do anything more or I am missing any step. I have referrrd the link http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wsadf/adfcomplexwstypes.html : stating the complex return type handling in Jdeveloper 10.3. Do I need to create a Java Bean for the complex type even though data control is having all object attribute of complex data type.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please make sure that the service's return strcture follows the same strutre as described in the WSDL file. In almost all of the cases like this, I found that service returns doesn't exactly match the structure definition. In that case the WSDC fails to parse the output the way it's told to and the EL used in the pages will fetch nothing, hence a black page shows up.

  • Getting errors when creating Web Services Data Control in Jdev 11.1.2.4.0

    Hi
    I am on Jdev 11.1.2.4.0 Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.4.0_GENERIC_130421.1600.6436.1
    When I am trying to create Web Services Data Control for SOAP, it gives 'Invalid WSDL File' for any WSDL file and shows following error:
    oracle/adfdtinternal/model/adapter/webservice/utils/WSUtils$DefaultAuthPrompter
    and in 'feedback' tab:
    Already logged bug for [NoClassDefFoundError in o.j.webservices.wsdl.CachedWSDLReader:394]
    Also if I try to create a new Request in HTTPAnalyzer and give a WSDL it shows following exception:
    java.io.IOException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdeveloper/webservices/wsdl/CachedWSDLReader$SimpleAuthPrompt

    followed by "The string <WSDL URL> is not a valid WSDL".
    If I try to create a REST WS Datacontrol, it shows error:
    NoClassDefFoundError in o.adf.model.connection.url.HttpUrlConnection:146
    Entire stack trace is attached.
    Please let me know if these are known issues and if there is any workaround.
    Thanks

    Don't see any way to attach file. So here is the entire trace:
