Service group, Destinations and Logical ports

I suppose that Service Group, Destinations and Logical ports
can be used to consumer a service in a specific system/landscape.
Is it correct ?
But when I use one or another ?
What are the differences ?

Hi
Service Group :identify a service provider.
Destinations and Logical ports  : are the stuff which is required to setup the connections with the agrred service provider.
For example : As you how SOA is working , first we have to look for services once we found the required one or informed by the vendor itself , they will provide the credentials (this is something which contain port ,destination and password etc), once setup is complete we get the seamless services from its provider.
These thing are not seperate so donesnt make sence to use one or another .

  • RFC Destination and Logical System

    Hi Friends,
Can anybody tell me how the RFC Destination and Logical System are related to each other?

    Hi,
In any ALE scenario u need one sender and one receiver system.
Logical systems are just logical representation of these systems but in case of RFC destination u specify technical parameters for those systems like IP address and username and password to connect to that system.
Thus when u create port i.e.we21 u specify actual RFC destination for the system to which u want to connect and when u create partner profile for that logical system u specify this port so when u want  to send data to this logical system i.e receiver system port will be used which in turn has RFC destination which will be used to connect to that system.
In simple terms logical systems are logical representation of any system and RFC destinations are physical/techinical systems.
    Thanks.

    Hi Milan,
this kind of error occurs when there is no service and end point description in the WSDL of provider who's service you are trying to consume using Consumer Proxy.
Just open the provider's WSDL URL that you have given while creating Logical port for the consumer proxy   and check if service and end point exists there.

  • Edit Customer Problem and Logical Port

    Hi Experts,
    ISSUE 1
In Web Service Administration, when I look at /iwcnt/actionitemvi_document service in details, I can see one Endpoint only, that is Binding_T_HTTP_A_HTTP.
In the Troubleshooting Guide, in section 5. No Workflow / Reports reach the SCL from backend system, there are mentioned two endpoints: Binding_T_HTTPS_A_HTTP and Binding_T_HTTP_A_HTTP - all other setting, I have, are the same on my server as mentioned in the troubleshooting guide. So why there is diffrence in binding on that particular service?
The other thing I noticed, is, that when looking closer on the logical port creation on backend system in the Behind the scene video, it mentions, that the Path Suffix include binding_t_http_a_http whereas in the Troubleshooting Guide it is showing binding_t_https_a_http - why this?
What is the right path suffix for the logical ports at the backend system?

When we edit a customer from SharePoint, we get the following error:

    Hi,
    ISSUE 1:
This is very likely because SSL is not configured. First of all can you go to SOAMANAGER -> Business Scenario Configuration and deactivate and activate the DUET_ENTERPRISE_ALL. When activating check if you are getting errors for the Assertion profiles (my guess would be, that you are getting errors).
In this case check the SSL configuration from SMICM -> \[Menu] Goto -> Services
Here you should see an active service HTTPS. If that is not the case, check that the SSL certificate is created (STRUST) and make sure that the required profile parameters are set (see also Deployment Guide -> "To configure the use of SSL in the SCL host" on page 33 at http://www.service.sap.com/instguides -> Duet -> Duet Enterprise 1.0 -> Duet Enterprise SAP Deployment Guide)).
Regarding the backend configuration for the logical ports in LPCONFIG. Here it depends on how you have setup the configuration on the SCL. If you released the services with HTTPS then the URL in the backend has to be HTTPS binding, if you configured it via HTTP, then it has to be HTTP binding Did you perform the connection tests as described in the videos or in the checkpoint of the troubleshooting guide?
    ISSUE 2:
Can you take a look also on the SAP side in SRTUTIL? Do you see any additional error information there? You might also want to check the errors from the log viewer /IWFND/VIEW_LOG

    Holger.

  • How to get RFC Destination and Logical System name dynamically

    Hi all,
I have a RFC FM written in CRM. I need to call this FM in R/3. So, i use the syntax " Call function <func> destination <destination name>. My problem is that i need to fetch the destination name dynamically..
There is a way to do so in CRM which is as follows:
DATA:  lt_siteselect TYPE TABLE OF siteselect INITIAL SIZE 0,
               ls_siteselect TYPE siteselect.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SMOF0_READ_SITESELECT'
        TABLES
          to_siteselect = lt_siteselect.
      READ TABLE lt_siteselect INTO ls_siteselect
             WITH KEY sitetypeid = cl_smw1_siteprovider=>c_sitetype_r3oltp.
The above piece of code returns the site and also takes care of the client you are currently working on. But the specified FM is present only in R/3..
I want to achieve the functionality fulfilled by the above code in R/3.
    Kindly help.
    Useful answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks in advance,
    Karan Merwana
I can not use FM LOG_SYSTEM_GET_RFC_DESTINATION as for that i need to provide the logical system name. And the logical system name would be different for different clients.

For those referring this thread later, I could not find a solution to this and ultimately had to do away with hardcoding of system names based on the DEV, Q, and PROD system names.
If anyone does manage to get a workaround, please let me know.

  • Calling external Web Service: PI is looking for a logical port and proxy.

    Hi,

When I debug the message processing, it is looking for a port in table SSRVRTCONFIG, finds it(entry created automatically when WS adapter and the corresponding receiver agreement is activated in ID.
Then the program looks for an entry in "SRT_CFG_CLI_ASGN" for a proxy and logical port combination and errors out.
to be able to call an external web service, do we need a proxy to be created? I tried to create but the proxy creation fails because the external WSDL has some unsupported tags.
Also do we need to do any other configuration in SOAMANAGER? I am assuming not because the Web service is external.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vijay

I already checked that note and made sure that the points mentioned are met. I have a trace set up on the target system and would know if the call reaches them and then fails in authorization. Right now the call doesnt even reach the target system and also from debugging I know that the program is looking for a proxy and then fails.

    Hi Guys,
I'm created a web dynpro application for consuming web service from service registry. To do so I also creates the Service group SOA_WS_EXECUTION_DEST and assigned it to component in SR. I also assigned the Provider system in it. Still I am getting the same Error.

com.sap.esi.esp.lib.mm.config.exceptions.TechnicalException: Failed to create Logical Port for Service Reference with id [ValidatePassportDetailsQueryResponse_In_SOA_WS_EXECUTION_DEST_BASIC]. Reason for the failure is that Neither Authentication Method [None], nor [SAP Logon Ticket] are allowed in the related Communication Profile. Such Authentication Method is needed as the Authenticaton Profile is [businessOrTechnicalUser] and no User Account is assigned, so the Authenticaton Profile is considered to be noAuthentication or businessUserRelated Communication Profile is [SOAProfile 3] and it allows Authentication Method(s) [User Name/Password (Basic)]

  • LPCONFIG Logical Port security setting WS security where to give login ID?

    Hi,
This scenario is about consuming web service in ABAP. ABAP proxy and logical port is used for it.
Could you pl give some inputs as to how to incorporate login details in the LPCONFIG or ABAP Proxy ?
    1. Webservice is created in the NWDS web dynpro java
    2. ABAP Proxy is created and logical port is create in ABAP and url of this webservice is given and it works just fine
    3. Authentication is added in webservice so that when its called in wsnavigator in portal, userID and password shoud be given
    4. Now when we call it from ABAP standalone, popup is seen for userID and password
    5. But we call it in background in our process via workflow
    6. I tried to look for putting userID and password in LPCONFIG but only place i can see is WS Security and Profile In field
    thanks in advance

    hi,
    please give some hints
profile In field has webservice security profile that is created in WSSPROFILE transaction
but even after giving it, still asked for userID password popup

  • Is it okay to use different service group numbers?

A new deployment of vWAAS in a DC connected to a Cat 6509 with existing WCCP redierection from an old WAAS deployment on that switch using service groups 61 and 62. I have researched service group numbers but only find a handful and want to ask the community if there are any issues using service groups 51 and 52, or 71 and 72 for this new deployment.
    Thanks, Karl

    Hi Karl,
Service groups 61 and 62 are tcp promiscous groups and will redirect all TCP traffic. Also, in case of the wccp web-cache , this is going to redirect all the traffic from TCP port 80 from routers to Cisco Cache/ACNS devices. Other Custom WCCP services c will use custom wccp number (90 - 97) . So if you want to redirect port 8080 you can use custom WCCP service group.

If I am transfering the data uisng ALE,
is  RFC destination and logical system name of receiveing system should be same  ??????
If the names of the both  are different what will be the effect plz tell me ????

    HI Prahlad,
Logical system is nothing but participating system in the ALE scenario.
By Using RFC call we can connect to Other system .
In SM59(Def RFC ) we mention Logical sytstem name.
So both should be same .
    1. Creating Logical Systems
    o     Login using 800 client
o     Go to T. Code SALE
o     Expand Sending and Receiving Systems
    o     Expand Logical Systems
o     Click on Define Logical System
    o     Click on New Entries
    o     Create STUD_S, STUD_R Logical Systems
    o     Save and come back
o     Assign the STUD_S Logical System to client 800
o     Assign the STUD_R Logical System to client 810
    2. Creating the RFCs
    o     Go to T. Code SM59
    o     Expand R/3 Connections
o     Enter RFC Name as STUD_S
    o     Connection Type as 3
    o     Language as EN
    o     Client as 800
    o     User as  SAPUSER
    o     PWD as abap

  • Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services Group Policy for Domain Controllers

    Hello,
We want to allow our Helpdesk Operators to be able to connect to Domain Controllers with the Remote Desktop Services. This is by default not allowed but according to many sites, it should be able to configure by using a Group Policy.
We made a new Group Policy with the setting 'Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services' and 'Allow log on locally' (as an extra for testing) and applied Security Filtering to only use it for a specific Security Group. Our test user is a member of this
security group and should be able to access the Domain Controllers now. However this isn't working.
The error message we receive upon trying to connect:
The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login.
For troubleshooting, we also applied the Security Group for that setting in the Default Domain Controllers Policy but that doesn't seem to work either. We want to avoid customization on our Default Domain Controllers Policy but this was just a test case
    for solving our problem.
What should we do to solve our problem?
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I just found out what the problem was. This site helped me alot:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2011/09/09/allow-logon-through-terminal-services-group-policy-and-remote-desktop-users-group.aspx
In my case, I had the group added to the Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Services but was not added to the Builtin\Remote Desktop Users group. After knowing this I made some changes to our situation and are now using the builtin\Remote Desktop Users group
rather than a new self made Security Group. I also added the Remote Desktop Users to the Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Service in the Default Domain Controllers Policy as this is not done by default. By default only the Domain Administrators are able
to logon through remote desktop services.
You do not need the 'Log on Locally' permission within the Group Policies.
    In short:
Add the desired users/groups to the 'Builtin\Remote Desktop Users' security group.
Add the 'Builtin\Remote Desktop Users' security group to the 'Allow Logon Through Remote Desktop Services' within the 'Default Domain Controllers Policy'.
Thank you anyway for the fast reply.
    Have a nice day!
