Service guardian running late by long GC times

Hi there,
Once a week I have this problem:
Service guardian is
   12845ms late, indicating that this JVM may be running slowly or experienced a long GC
Searching the OTN I found this thread : cluster is falling apart because of long GCs, what is the proper parameter?
I've configured the packet delivery timeout and timeout for service guardian and going to put them on the server. (Not quite sure whether not specifying the timeouts is the problem.)
But there are still some parts unclear to me:
This is happening to me just once a week and exactly after weekends in the early working hours. (Does it really have to do with the idle time of the server in the weekend? Why just once a week and exactly on the first working day? If the GC is really running slowly why is this happening at this time?)
And the last question: Does service guardian monitor only threads belonging to Coherence or also other threads for possible deadlocks?
(Coherence version : 3.7.1)
Cheers.

  • 90% of the system resource is consumed when timer service is running

    Hi,
        I have an development environment with 8GB RAM with SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2014, The SharePoint runs slow when Timer Service is running. Turning of the Timer Service speed up the environment.
    Is it a know issue with SharePoint 2013? Is there any update/hotfix available pertaining to the issue.
    Thanks,
    Ajeet

    Hi  Ajeet,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the SharePoint Timer Service(OWSTIMER)   consumes 90% of the server resource in  your SharePoint 2013 single server.
    For your issue, could you run Microsoft Net Monitor to see the contents of the packets that were being sent / received by the owstimer.exe process?  Also please make sure your single server match the
    hardware requirement:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485(v=office.15).aspx#hwforwebserver
    Here is a  blog for troubleshooting timer service issue:

    Thanks Sandy,
    I have already solved the problem , I  have done the following actions:
    1. Stop J2EE engine
    2. rename folder
         /usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/j2ee/os_libs/adssap
         Please rename this adssap folder to adssap.old
    3. Start J2EE engine
       During starting J2EE engine, folder adssap will be re-generated.
    4. Also make sure XMLform.exe is extracted under
        /usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/j2ee/os_libs/adssap/XMLFormService/bin
    I restarted the entire instance (ABAP  and JAVA) and now all is running fine.

    Anyone else having extra long delivery time for the late 2013 macbook pro 15" 2.6ghz 1tb model?
    As of today feb 15 i have been waiting for 78 days. Finland doesn't have an official apple store (only authorized resellers) It was my mistake because i should have bought from apple.com. But i think 2.5 months is too long and i have no information about when i can get it..

    The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $2,000.
    The low-end 15” rMBP with a 8 GB or RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,300.
    With 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD it costs $2,500.
    The high-end 15” rMBP with a 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs $2,600.
    All cost $500 dollars more with a 1 TB SSD.
    So the SSD size is not a differentiating factor unless you prefer 256 GB.
    If you think you need 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD then you might as well spend the extra $100 for the high-end model.
    The high-end model will make a difference on gaming and graphics-oriented applications.
    They tend to run other applications at about the same speed.
    Both models are rated with 8 hours of battery life.
    Benchmarks on PhotoShop comparing memory sizes:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5659174?tstart=30
    The speed was about 10% different between 8 GB and 16 GB models.
    On other applications your mileage may vary.
    Application benchmarks:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2059215/15-inch-retina-macbook-pro-review-a-tale -of-two-laptops.html
    The low-end and high-end performed the about the same on non-graphics oriented applications.
    Graphics oriented benchmarks:
    On the Cinebench OpenGL benchmark the high-end was about twice as fast.
    On the Unigine Heaven Benchmark benchmark they ran at about the same speed.
    On the Unigine Valley Benchmark benchmark the high-end was about 1.5x as fast.

    Hi,
    You can export the client, as well but it will take long time too, depended to your client size. Please note that client copy operation should be performed by standard SAP client management tools, such as client export/import or remote copy.
    Ask this question to SAP support first. Technically, you can choose many ways to copy a SAP client, but as far as I know that SAP will not support you (such as errors you faced during the client export/import or the problems related by the copy operation), if you use any other 3rd party tool while for the client copy purposes.

    it throws the below error
    The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether
    the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress
    When i check the search status
    Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
    As of now search service application is online and search is working.But not sure why it throws the above error.
    I have restarted timer service,search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
    But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.

  • A script in file EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time

    Hello Everyone.   I just downloaded Dreamweaver CS 5.5 Trial version (Win 7), and I have been working on my home page.  I've created a wonderful image map with spry widget tooltips (about 60 tooltips), and I'm really happy with the results....until this error started to pop-up.  I have re-started the computer, deleted winfilecache****, and updated Dreamweaver through the help window.   I have googled this error, and found it existed in CS3 and CS4, and even in CS5, but no information as to why it's happening in CS 5.5.    I really want to buy this software, but am unsure as to why I would spend this amount of money on something that's going to give me a headache.  I am a layman, and work on my site recreationally.  I'm new to CSS and Spry so if i missed the obvious I apologize for that.   I inserted the spry widgets in the CODE screen by highlighting my hotspot CODE and clicking INSERT>SPRY>SPRYTOOLTIP.  Each tooltip is checked to "follow on mouse" and "hide on mouse out" and horizontally moved -400.
    So now every time I open this page in Dreamweaver this error "A script in file EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time.  Do you wish to continue?" pops up, and whenever i try to edit the spry tooltip properties.  Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.  thanks for your help and time.  Part of the code looks like this: //
    <area shape="poly" coords="89,180,68,203,60,213,65,232,96,225,103,201,101,188" href="#" id="sprytrigger57" />
    <div class="tooltipContent" id="sprytooltip57">
    <p><img src="images/Constellations/Corvus.jpg" width="199" height="170" alt="Corvus" />CORVUS (The Crow, or Raven).</p>
    <p> Birds of prey devouring him.</p>
    </div>
          var sprytooltip57 = new Spry.Widget.Tooltip("sprytooltip57", "#sprytrigger57", {offsetX:-403, closeOnTooltipLeave:true, useEffect:"fade", followMouse:true});
    </script>
    Hope I included most everything needed to diagnose, let me know what I forgot.  Thanks again.

    oops i tried to copy the code here but it didn't work. Is this better?

    Wow, that solved this problem. I had 5 GB of systemd logs. I deleted them (after making a backup on another disk), I limited the journal size to only 50MB, and now NetworkManager only lasts 4 seconds to start, and GDM appears 10 seconds earlier. Thanks a lot

  • SQL with connect by prior running for a long time

    Hi,
    We are using Oracle 10g. Below is a cursor sql which is having performance issues. The pAccountid is being passed from the output of a different cursor. But this cursor sql is running for a long time. Could you please help me in tuning this sql. I believe the subquery with connect by prior is causing the trouble.
    The TRXNS is a huge table which is not partitioned. The query is forced to use the index on the accountid of the TRXNS table.
    The accountlink table has 20,000 records and the TRXNStrack table has 10,000 records in total.
    This sql executes for 200,000 pAccountids and runs for more than 8 hours.
    SELECT /*+ INDEX(T TRXNS_ACCOUNTID_NIDX) */ AL.FROMACCOUNTID oldaccountid ,
                                    A.ACCOUNTNUM  oldaccountnum,
                                   T.TRXNSID,
                                   T.TRXNSTYPEID,

                       WHERE AL.TOACCOUNTID IN
                                                             (SELECT TOACCOUNTID FROM ACCOUNTLINK START WITH TOACCOUNTID = pAccountid
                                                                                                                         CONNECT BY PRIOR FROMACCOUNTID  = TOACCOUNTID)

  • _Choosing operation in Business Service on run  time

    Hi,
    I have a WSDL having multiple operations. The same wsdl is usd to create business and proxy service.
    In proxy service I am using operational branching.So for each operation , I need to call business service with respective operation.
    Is there any way to choose the operation in business service on run time using single route node.Is it possible through Dynamic Routing?
    I have used dyanmic routing to choose different business service at run time.
    Please let me know if some other information is required.
    Thanks in advance,
    Seemant

    The following code can be used inside the expresion for Dynamic routing to achieve the same-
    <ctx:route>
    <ctx:service>{$path}</ctx:service>
    <ctx:service>{$operation}</ctx:service>
    </ctx:route>
    The vairable operation keeps the name of the operation invoked.

    Hi i have 50 infoobjects as part of my aggregates and in that 10 infoobjects have received changes in masterdata.so in my process chain the Attribute change run in running for a long time.can i kill the job and repeat the same.

    Hi,
    I believe this would be your Prod system, so don't just cancel it but look at the job log. If it is still processing then don't kill it and wait for the change run to complete but if you can see that nothing is happening and it is stuck for a long time then you can go ahead and cancel it.
    But please be sure, as these kind of jobs can create problems if you cancel them in the middle of a job.

    I'm getting this error in dreamweaver:
    "A script in file C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Aobe Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration\Shared\Spry\DesignTime\EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time. Do you want to continue?"
    I get the error when I open a page that has several spry elements, even after shutting down my computer and rebooting. It has over 100 spry collapsible panels, which each have their own name, ie: var CollapsiblePanel108 = new Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel108")
    I read that editing the parameters of a widget may cause problems for CS3, and it is resolved for CS3: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401257.html, but I don't know how to fix the problem for CS4.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I think you have answered your own question. More than 100 Spry collapsible panels is not exactly what most people would call "several". It's a huge - and probably unrealistic - amount.
    I don't think there is an actual limit on the number of Spry elements that you can have on a page, but Dreamweaver uses JavaScript in the background to inspect the document and edit it. The more elements you have, the greater the processing power and memory your computer requires to handle them. It might work with a faster processor or more RAM, but I think you need to reconsider your design strategy.

    Can someone please help its really kind of urgent

    check the cardinalities: the CBO expects to access only a few rows and uses a lot of NL joins - and that's probably not the best solution. You could start with a llok at the cardinality of step 5, the index range scan on ps_c1. The CBO expects only 6 rows - is this a good guess? Of course you could just create a plan with rowsource statistics (gather_plan_statistics hint) and compare E- and A-rows.

    This error keeps cropping up now and again on most of our domain controllers (OS-2008 AND 2008R2)...Usually a restart fixes the issue however the issue repeats and security logs don't generate.
    Any advice on how to fix this issue permanently would be greatly appreciated.

    You can also try rebuilding the WMI repository: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2009/04/13/wmi-rebuilding-the-wmi-repository.aspx
