Service isn't yet installed.​.. Do I need to keep trying to reach Verizon to cancel?

I ordered new FiOS service on 8/1 (before the strike).  It is now 8/15 and I still don't have service, nor have I been contacted to reschedule an appointment...  Verizon missed my original installation appointment due to the strike.
I am going in circles to try and cancel my service and can't actually accomplish this.  Do I need to actually reach Verizon in advance to cancel?  Or can I wait for them to call me and reschedule installation and tell them I'd like to cancel at that point?
This is far too long for me to not have at-home internet service so I need to find another provider.

Canceling is done by calling Verizon. If they do call, they should be able to re-direct you to Retentions/Billing to cancel, but I wouldn't place any guarantee on a call being returned to you.

    No, but it's not essential since upgrades include the full program code. The serial number differentiates a full version from an upgrade.

    I must admit that comes as a bit of a surprise.
    I had presumed that the "upgrade" version of CS5, being so much cheaper to buy than the full original, would check your hard drive to make sure you actually had bought a legal copy of CS4.
    Does that mean there is no difference between the "upgrade" and the full price installation discs?
    By the way, I know I'm old sometimes can't find something even when it's right under my nose, but is there a "LOG OUT" button anywhere on this forum?

    No , you are not required to do so. it just happened coz you have selected both the options 32 BIT and 64 BIT (default), for correct installation if you have 64 bit compatible OS follow these steps..
    First do a clean uninstall.
    Run the Photoshop CS6 installer.
    Enter your serial number. Click Acccept.
    On the right side of the Options panel under the 64-bit heading, uncheck the box for Photoshop CS6. Leave the "Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64-bit)" option checked.
    Finish the installation.
    But keeping both the files does not do any harm excep the storage issues (it increases).
    Its all my assumption and experience both but hope you will get the answer.

    As explained in the installation instructions, you can install multiple versions of Sun Studio on the same machine, but they must go into different base directories. The default base directory is /opt. If you have one version of Sun Studio already in /opt, you can install another one in a different base directory.
    It's best if you can plan ahead. For example, suppose your first planned installation is Sun Studio 8. You could install it in /opt/ss8, then Sun Studio 8 in /opt/ss9, and Sun Studio 10 in /opt/ss10. Or you could create a top-level directory ss, and install successive versions in /ss/n, where "n" is the version numer.
    At installation time, the installer asks you what base directory to use. That's where you enter the base directory if you don't want it to be the default /opt.

    Downloads fine. put onto USB thumb drive and transfer to standalone system (Win 7 Ultra). Go to install and it trys to download something from internet and fails (would since it doesn't have internet access).
    Is there a standalone version of Firefox (there use to be)?

    i have been having this problem for months now and i have tried everything to fix it, i have done everything the windows forums has suggested with registry to trying to restart and stop windows installer service in services. i can not install anything that
    needs this service i can not use anything that has to do with java because java is now out of date and i can upgrade java because installer service isnt working. i cant make a restore point or do a restore i have no restore disk.

    Sounds like you may have a hardware problem since it won't read from DVD, and it is only a year and a half old.  Hopefully all it is, is bad RAM*:

    Good morning.
    I have a client who's having an odd issue with the SQLBrowser service shutting down each time it's started, indicating that it can't find any installed instances (although there are two... One SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and one SQL Server 2012 Express).
    The SQL instances are installed and running on a Windows 2008 R2 Server, and both of the engine installations seem to be functioning normally.  The one application that attaches to the 2012 engine works just fine, but it's hard-coded to connect via
    a specific port and therefore doesn't need the browser service.  The second application which connects to the 2008 R2 instance however does requite the browser service be running, and is unable to connect from a workstation without it.  Both installations
    have been removed and reinstalled, but the issue remains.
    When I run the sqlbrowser.exe -c I get the following :
    SQLBrowser: starting up in console mode
    SQLBrowser: starting up SSRP redirection service
    SQLBrowser is successfully listening on ::[1434]
    SQLBrowser is successfully listening on 0.0.0.0[1434]
    SQLBrowser: Found no installed SQL engine instances -- not listening on SSRP.
    SQLBrowser: Both SSRP and OLAP redirection services are disabled. Shutting down browser service
    From the way this reads, it seems that the browser service isn't "seeing" the installed instances on the machine and shuts down.  I suspect permission problems/corruption in the registry as this server was poorly implemented and "poked
    at" by the previous IT company, but I'm not sure what mechanism/tests the browser service uses to detect installed instances so I'm hesitant to start making too many low level changes...
    Has anyone run into this before, or does anyone have insight as to how the browser services finds installed SQL instances?

    One possibility: Using SQL Server Configuration Manager, in the left pane, expand
    SQL Server Network Configuration to show the Database Engine services. Right-click them, and then click
    Properties. Check the value of the Hide Instance
    property. No is normal = the instance is exposed to the SQL Server Browser service.
    Yes is hidden = the instance is not exposed to the SQL Server Browser service. I can't reproduce a shutdown of the SQL Server Browser if they are all No, but I have lots of SQL Server services on my computers.
    Also, is the browser running under the Local Service account? This is the default. I'm not sure this matters, but if the Browser Service still has trouble running under Local Service that eliminates some possible permission problem.

    Hey so i just bought by 15" MacbooK Pro yesterday and wanted to install windows vista on it. I'm to the part where you're supposed to install windows bootcamp but a message comes up saying that it needs windows 7 in order to install properly. What do i do?? I have the upgrade version of windows 7 (whcih i was going to eventually install) but when i tried installing it an error message came up saying that it needs vista service pack 1 to install. In order to install that service pack I need to connect to the internet. I can't connect to the internet, though, without installing the drivers from bootcamp!! AHH! see how this is frustrating? PLEASE HELP ASAP!

    Reboot your computer while holding down the option key. You should be presented with the option to boot into OSX. Once booted into OSX start Boot Camp Assistant and select remove the Boot Camp Partition.
    I know Boot Camp Assistant was not installed in Windows. It is an OSX application for creating and removing a Boot Camp partition. It is run from OSX.

    We have a cluster with 2 nodes. Everything works fine in Node1. When I try to failover TEST1 database to Node-2 it fails with this message.

    The error message is pretty straight forward, it's saying either the service isn't installed or it's not installed as the same service on that node. Did you install analysis services on the second node (from the error it seems like it isn't)?

    I have been re-loading LabVIEW 8.0.1 Pro Dev Sytem, NI-DAQ (Traditional) and NI-DAQmx, all day.  This probelm seems to be related to the fact that I can, no longer, create executables or open my .lvproj files, yielding the other error:

    Yesterday I started having this error message pop up when I first boot up my computer.  I haven’t even started LabVIEW. 
    Recent changes:
    6Jan08 Replaced motherboard and CPU.
    6Jan08 Formatted hard drive and reinstalled software(Windows XP Home Edition).  Computer working fine.
    8Jan08 Installed LabVIEW 8.0 Student Edition.  LV is working fine and the message does not appear.
    9Jan08 Download and install NiDAQ 8.6.1.  Reboot the system and the above error shows up.  LabVIEW works fine so far.
    Anybody have any ideas on what the problem is?  I have a screen shot of the actual message, but I can't load it on this page.

This problem is getting beyond annoying since i have work to do other than cater to apple itunes.

    I would say it is Windows.
    Which are you using btw, Vista or 7?
    And did you download the 64-bit version if that is what you run?
    There were a lot of tips to troubleshoot (never needed to in 4 yrs though knock on wood).

    run chckdsk and sfc /scannow
    CCleaner 3.05
    If 7 did you upgrade to SP1? Driver Sweeper has been known to cause some problems with Windows 7 SP1
