Service Manager "Error communicating with component" after moving SQL servers

We just moved our SCCM database to a new SQL server and ever since, I've been getting stumped as to why I'm getting the following error each time I try to query the status of anything under the SQL server:
Error communicating with component
Admittedly, I'm a total novice when it comes to SCCM and I was doing this under the loose supervision of my predecessor (this is his last week).  I appreciate anyone offering any advice as to where I should start, and I apologize I'm not knowledgeable
enough yet to know exactly what info to provide you with initially!
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies!
@Peter: Currently using SCCM 2012 R2 running on a 2008 server,  with the database having moved from SQL 2010 to 2012.  We have a single primary site with 5 additional distribution points supporting around 260 users.
We did only change our SQL server and the guide you posted is the exact one we used.  Everything seemed to look exactly like the guide.  Afterwards, when checking the Configuration Manager Server Manager, under Servers, it had my SCCM server and
new SQL server both listed.  The components listed under my SQL server were as follows:
SMS_COMPONENT_MONITOR
SMS_EXECUTIVE
SMS_MP_FILE_DISPATCH_MANAGER
SMS_OUTBOX_MONITOR
SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP_SCCM01
SMS-SRS_REPORTING_POINT
However, when we query those components, we get "Error communicating with component" on all of them except SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP_SCCM01.  I'm slightly suspicious of our certificates but I'm not well-versed enough with them to troubleshoot effectively
on my own.

  • Panasonic DVX100B gets "error communicating with camera"

    Hi there,
I know this is the FCP group and this is an iMovie issue but wondered if you folks who are more advanced users might have some insight on this. I have a Panasonic DVX100B which continually gets "error communicating with camera" after a few minutes in iMovie HD 6. Works fine then has error with blue screen. iMovie works fine with isight and with small canon camcorder.
    Thanks!

are you sure the firewire cable's not been put in the wrong way? This can seriously fry the circuitry.
or do a further search in the imovie forum using your - error communicating with camera - narrative, there's a few useful answers.
Good luck and post back if you get any success or not!

  • Error communicating with the Cluster Manage Web Service

    Hi,
i connected oracle database with the Endeca Studio but while uploading Departments dataset i m getting this error
"Error communicating with the Cluster Manage Web Service" so plz can anyone explain me wat is this error about.
    thanks in advance

I actually ran into this myself- as Pat notes, it's hard to say without seeing log files, but I think that perhaps the default domain profile that the Endeca Server uses for domains created using Provisioning services has not been created.  First see what domain profiles exist.  Navigate to wherever endeca-cmd lives (e.g., user_projects/domains/endeca_server_domain/EndecaServer/bin), and use the list-dd-profile command:
    -bash-3.2$ ./endeca-cmd.sh list-dd-profiles
The profiles that exist will be returned in your terminal window:
    prov_dd_profile
    default
If you only see 'default', then you will need to create 'prov_dd_profile'
    ./endeca-cmd.sh put-dd-profile prov_dd_profile
Then try uploading your file again in Studio.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

OK! So I got everything filled out right to publish my iWeb site with iCloud now but after it looks like everything is fine this error pops up REPEATLY!:
PUBLISH ERROR There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider.
Is this an Apple problem or with my server Netfirms???

Yeah no sorry not the answer.  I have my own online hosting unlimited space and bandwidth.

  • Event ID: 5014, 5004 The DFS Replication Service is stopping communication with partner / Error 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)

I'm replicating between two servers in two sites (Server A - Server 2012 R2 STD, Server B - Server 2008 R2) over a VPN (Sonicwall Firewall).  Though the initial replication seems to be
happening it is very slow (the folder in question is less than 3GB).  I'm seeing these in the event viewer every few minutes:
The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner PPIFTC for replication group FTC due to an error. The service will retry the connection periodically.
    Additional Information:
Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
    and then....
The DFS Replication service successfully established an inbound connection with partner PPIFTC for replication group FTC.
Here are all my troubleshooting steps (keep in mind that our VPN is going through a SonicWall <--I increased the TCP timeout to 24 hours):
-Increased TCP Timeout to 24 hours
-Added the following values on both sending and receiving members and rebooted server

    ---------------------------------------more troubleshooting-----------------------------
I've done a lot of research on the Internet and most of it is pointing to the same stuff I've tried.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Maybe I need to look somewhere
else on the server side or firewall side?
I tried replicating from a 2012 R2 server to another 2012 server and am getting the same events in the event log so maybe it's not a server issue.
    Some other things I'm wondering:
-Could it be the speed of the NICs?  Server A is a 2012 Server that has Hyper-V installed.  NIC teaming was initially setup and since Hyper-V is installed the NIC is a "vEthernet
(Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver Virtual Switch) running at a speed of 10.0Gbps whereas Server B is running a single NIC at 1.0Gbps
-Could occasional ping timeout's cause the issue?  From time to time I get a timeout but it's not as often as the events I'm seeing.  I'm getting 53ms pings.  The folder
is only 3 GB so it shouldn't take that long to replicate but it's been days.  The schedule I have set for replication is mostly all day except for our backup times which start at 11pm-5am.  Throughout the rest of the time I have it set anywhere from
    4Mbps to 64 Kbps.  Server A is on a 5mb circuit and Server B is on a 10mb circuit.

I'm seeing the same errors, all servers are running 2008 R2 x64. Across multiple sites, VPN is steady and reliably.
    185 events from 12:28:21 to 12:49:25
Events are for all five servers (one per office, five total offices, no two in the same city, across three states).
Events are not limited to one replication group. I have quite a few replication groups, so I don't know for sure but I'm running under the reasonable assumption that none are spared.
Reminder from original post (and also, yes, same for me), the error is: Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
Some way to figure out what code triggers an Event ID 5014, and what code therein specifies an Error 1726, would extremely helpful. Trying random command line/registry changes on live servers is exceptionally unappealing.
Side note, 1726 is referenced here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/976442?wa=wsignin1.0
But it says, "This RPC connection problem may be caused by an unstable WAN connection." I don't believe this is the case for my system.
    It also says...
For most RPC connection problems, the DFS Replication service will try to obtain the files again without logging a warning or an error in the DFS Replication log. You can capture the network trace to determine whether the cause of the problem is at the network
layer. To examine the TCP ports that the DFS Replication service is using on replication partners, run the following command in a
    Command Prompt window:
    NETSTAT –ANOBP TCP
This returns all open TCP connections. The connections in question are "DFSRs.exe", which the command won't let you filter for.
Instead, I used the NETSTAT command as advertised, dumping output to info.txt:
    NETSTAT -ANOBP TCP >> X:\info.txt
Then I opened Excel and manually opened the .TXT for the open wizard. I chose fixed-width fields based on the first row for each result, and then added a column:
    =IF(A3="Can not", "Can not obtain ownership information", IF(LEFT(A3,1) = "[", A3&B3&C3, ""))
Dragging this down through the entire file let me see that row (Row F) as the file name. Some anomalies were present but none impacted DFSrs.exe results.
Finally, you can sort/filter (I sorted because I like being able to see everything, should I choose to) to get just the results you need, with the partial rows removed from the result set, or bumped to the end.
My server had 125 connections open.
That is a staggering number of connections to review, and I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.
I'll see if I can find anything useful out, but a better solution would be most wonderful.

Not all of my photos upload to my website when I publish it. when my site finishes publising I get an error that says, "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."

I am publishing directly to an FTP server (option 1).  Is this the optimal method or should I be publishing to a folder and then (how do/would I?) publish to my hosting domain?
I'm wondering if this has really anything to do with the publishing process, or whether it just has to do with the photos and/or the photo albums.  I've deleted the photo albums with the missing pictures from my site on iweb thinking a file might be corrupt. (I'm getting the albums from iphoto -- drag/drop method into iweb) I then replaced these albums with the same albums as the previous ones from iphoto and then published my site again -- and the EXACT same photos were once again missing in the NEW albums as were missing in the old albums...
Maybe it is a publishing issue, or it could be a photo/file issue.  However, these albums aren't very large -- the largest containing 135 photos --
Please! if you have any suggestions or ideas as to what is happening I would be greatly appreciative!
I'm pulling my hair out here trying to diagnose the problem...

    Any other ideas?

Most likely you are suffering from a bug in iWeb that doesn't let you publish websites if an image you have added to your site begins with space. You can either search for that image and remove it.

    Hello all,

    Hi Mark,
Make sure that when you uninstall everything you also
    1.  Uninstall MAX
    2.  Delete the MAX data folder (this doesn't uninstall when you uninstall).
On Windows XP and Windows 2000:
    Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\MAX\Data\
The folder named Application Data is a hidden folder.  You can view hidden folders by selecing Tools » Folder Options..., click the View tab, and selecting Show hidden files and folders.
Note: Remember that deleting the Data folder in its entirety
will remove all configuration settings.  The next time MAX is launched,
you will have to configure all of your hardware again.
    Thanks,

  • U2413, X-rite, error communicating with the monitor

I went to calibrate my U2413 monitor for the first time. Took me a little while to buy a i1Display Pro since that did not come with the monitor. I plugged in the i1Display Pro and ran the  Dell UltraSharp Color Calibration Software. Like many other people in the forum before me. I received the error about 5 seconds into the setup for the software "Could not prepare the display for calibration. Error communicating with the display." At first I thought it might be an issue with the USB cable.
However, after reviewing the forum, there is clearly a software glitch that has been going on for some time, appears over a year. It is surprising that they have not done a fix. Additionally, when you go to the check for updates feature on the software to look for updated drivers/software, all you get is a blank screen at Xrite.com. Does that mean there are no newer drivers or just that the software and the Xrite.com site are not integrated. Have found a large number of dead links on the Dell site in general.
I am not sure here to go for an updated driver of other solution. Has anyone tried moving to the Spyder calibration software to see if it has better results?
The computer to which the monitor is connected is running Windows 8.1 so it is not a Mac issue.

Let us review the basics =
    * The monitor USB upstream cable must be connected to the computer USB port
    * In a two or more monitor setup, only ONE monitor should be connected to the computer at a time when calibrating
    * DP 1.2 must be disabled in the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) before calibration
    * The i1Display Pro device should be tested in TWO ways =
Test it on all of the monitor bottom USB downstream ports
Test it connected directly to the computer USB port
The U2413 driver page does not list 8.1, so I chose 8. It list two older versions of the Xrite software 1.0.0.0 and 1.0.1.0. You need to unistall the version installed. Then install the latest version (1.5.7.141118) and re-test. I realize under "Compatible Systems" it does not list your monitor model. But try it anyway. If it does not work, uninstall it and test Version 1.5.3.

What can I do  ? Thank you very much!!!

I found this on stack overflow.com and thought it would apply to this article discussion for some users even though I don't understand how to revert the version (through git?)
I think this is a compatibility issue. I think the .xib has moved to Xcode 4 (as shown by the line setenv IBC_MINIMUM_COMPATIBILITY_VERSION 4.2) which Xcode 3.2's version of ibtooldoes not understand.
I think you need to revert to a version of the .xib prior to the update to Xcode 4.""
