Service MAnager Portal _CreateMOMRegKey

Dear All,
I had to uninstall SM Portal ( to allow SCOM agent installation) and now re-installing the portal.
However I'm stuck at the error -
"An error occurred while executing a custom action:_CreateMOMRegKey.11EE91AB_EABF_48A6_9973_4DCD73190AC6"
This was the same issue, which had occurred when installing the first time. It was due to permissions.
However not sure, why this is recurring, as I'm re-installing with the service account with all the required permissions sorted out.
Can Microsoft be ever bug free ?  OR is MS trying to use the public as their test agents after paying for their products?
Can anyone help fix this issue.. I'm bugged up using the MS products.

  • Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service - Error when opening SM Portal

    Greetings,
I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue and I have tried all suggestions I have found on Technet.
Basically, I had the SM Portal working on a test VM.  I am ready to use it in production but it is not working.  I deleted my test VM and built a new one.  On it, I have SharePoint 2010 Foundation and the SM Portal installed.  I have
a valid self-signed cert.  the FQDN is correct (hqsrva24.dds.local) in both SharePoint and also in IIS.  I also made sure under Application Settings on the SM Portal IIS site points to the FQDN of the SCSMWebContentServer.
So what happens when I go to the SM Portal (https://hqsrva24.dds.local:444/SMPortal) is it prompts me for a logon, which i put in and the site comes up.  But at that point the Silverlight portion is not loaded and I immediately get prompted for a logon.
I have tried several different logons, all of which have full access to the site in Sharepoint.  Eventually I get the error in red at the bottom of the screen "Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service"
If I try to access the Web Content Server service on its own (https://hqsrva24.dds.local/Servicehost/services/DataAccessService.svc), I get a prompt to logon and none of my logons work.  i eventually get
an unauthorized error. However; If I log into the server which SM Portal is on and go to https://localhost/Servicehost/services/DataAccessService.svc, I get no prompt to login and I get a "Metapublishing for this service is currently disabled."
I'm out of ideas at this point, barring completely starting over (not just the SM portal but all of the Service Manager Suite).

Man I've had this problem so many times and its almost always a different solution. Are you sure that either the Domain Users group or NT Authority\Authenticated Users have permissions to the site and service. remember the the two prompts are authenticating
different things: the Sharepoint site and the application site (silverlight). Make sure users have permission in both SCSM and in Sharepoint.
    - Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

  • Cannot connect to the service manager portal wcf service

    Hi Guys,
I'm having some issues with a fresh installation of the Service Manager 2012 Web Portal where I get the above message. Things I haved tried from reading other forum posts here:
I've increased the maxStringContentLength value to 2457600
Added HTTP bindings to Service Manager Portal (HTTP port 448) and SCSMWebContentServer (HTTP port 447)
Added the FQDN to web.config in ContentHost
ensured that web.config in ServiceHost has matching "DefaultHttpsBinding" throughout and "DefaultHttpsServiceBehavior" throughout
I can access /ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc without issue
I can access the SMPortal without issue, it just comes up with the above. Would anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Lewis

Sometimes if you don't have enough memory it can cause that error.  I have seen that a couple of times.  The first was because it was just a demo server and only had 4Gb RAM.
If you visit the page http(s)://servername:SMSSPPort/ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc what error do you get?

  • Service Manager Portal not displaying VM console and related details

    Hi All,
We have deployed private cloud with system center products using Cloud Services Process Pack and we have deployed Service Manger portal for VM provisioning in Cloud
The Service Manger portal does not display VM console and VM details
    I have following queries
How to take remote console of VM deployed by end user through service manager portal
How will user come to know quota limit utilized in cloud under his account
The VM are deployed through SCSM portal are in shutdown state how to auto start the VM after provisioning
Please help since we are not able to find any solution for the above
Appreciate if any workaround is available for the same
    Thanks
    Manzoor Ahmed

The component of System Center that is capable to give console access to your VMs, is App Controller.
Once the user are logged in here, they should see their quota, limits and resources available.
Yes, the VMs are powered off by default when using the CSPP. You can edit the runbooks and add a task that will start them after provisioning.
    For your information:
Many things has changed since the release of Cloud Service Process Pack. A new set of tools are provided with Windows Azure Pack to have a streamlined Infrastructure as a Service offering within the enterprise. Windows Azure Pack will leverage VMM (in the
same way as SCSM does) but in conjunction with SPF (component within Orchestrator) to give you a framework that is identical to Windows Azure (Microsoft's own cloud) running on-premise.

  • Error: "Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service on SSP" SCSM 2012

I have the SSP installed on a Sharepoint 2010 server.  The web portal is installed on the SCSM 2012 management server.  When opening the SMPortal I get an error message at the bottom
"Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service.  Please contact your helpdesk or UT administrator for further help."
I have manually modified the web.config on the portal for SSL and the Application Settings in Sharepoint IIS per the guidance of others.  I'm able to open the service in a browser.  Assistance is greatly appreciated.

Http and https is bound on both the content server and the portal. That didn't work. Same error message:

  • Additional language in Service Manager Portal

    Hello,
    I have two questions.
1.) Is it possible to add additional language to Service Manager Portal, not only the official 21 languages. I mean the first page, the silverlight part. I know, I can modify file SilverlightModule_StringResources.resx.xml (english file) and I got desired
result, but I need English language too. So I would like to know if is it possible to add additional language.
2.) When I select "Create a request" on the first page, I always got "Generic Incident Request (EN)" regardless the language I used. I got the same English Generic IR also if My language is German, Russian or any other. Is it possible
to change the default link to another Incident Request?
    Thanks and BR.

Scripting or coding doesn't work with extending the Silverlight webpart. The source code of the Silverlight webpart isn't available by Microsoft. So you can't modify the code of the Silverlight webpart.
Also it's not supported by Microsoft to modify the Silverlight webpart and it maybe causes trouble with upcoming updates on the webpart as well.

  • Cannot connect to service manager portal wcf service

I only get this error on one request offering.  Everything else on the portal works fine.  This RO worked until I update one of the user prompts.  The prompt is a query result that is configured to return domain users only of display name
equals the users that I have listed.  I have about 40 users display names listed under the criteria.  I didnt set token, do I have to?
What else might effect the WCF service for only one item on the portal?
    - Get on the floor, do that dinosaur

Well I looked in the silverlight trace log which said:
The maximum string content length quota (24576) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader.'.  Please
    see InnerException for more details.
I'm not sure how to increase this though.

  • Cannot connect to the Service Manager portal WCF service...again

I've ran into this error a few times now, but I have usually been able to fix it. This time its being more stubborn.
This is a brand new 2012 R2 portal running on a brand new SharePoint 2010 SP1 two server farm. The web content server is installed on both of the webservers just like Travis has it in this blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2012/05/04/how-to-configure-the-self-service-portal-sharepoint-site-or-the-web-content-server-for-load-balancing.aspx
We have it F5 load balanced with a 3rd party cert which is working fine. We get to the site and the app loads, but instead of seeing the only catalog item I have published, I see the red error at the bottom stating that it cannot connect to the WCF service.
I've double checked all my bindings in IIS and the web.config. When I look in the web server event log I see this:
    System.ServiceModel 3.0.0.0 Event ID 3
WebHost failed to process a request. Sender Information: System.ServiceModel.Activation.HostedHttpRequestAsyncResult/37916227 Exception: System.Web.HttpException: The service '/ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc' does not exist. ---> System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: The service '/ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc' does not exist.   at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostingEnvironment.HostingManager.EnsureServiceAvailable(String normalizedVirtualPath)   at System.ServiceModel.ServiceHostingEnvironment.EnsureServiceAvailableFast(String relativeVirtualPath)   at System.ServiceModel.Activation.HostedHttpRequestAsyncResult.HandleRequest()   at System.ServiceModel.Activation.HostedHttpRequestAsyncResult.BeginRequest()   --- End of inner exception stack trace ---   at System.ServiceModel.AsyncResult.End[TAsyncResult](IAsyncResult result)   at System.ServiceModel.Activation.HostedHttpRequestAsyncResult.End(IAsyncResult result) Process Name: w3wp Process ID: 3004

    Any ideas?
    - Get on the floor, do that dinosaur

For me I can reach it via the direct server name,
https://Server:444/ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc works and displays a page
But it fails when trying to go to the load balanced name:
    https://SelfService.blah.com:444/ServiceHost/Services/DataAccessService.svc Fails
When I use IE11 and do a network check it shows its getting a 404 error on /ContentHost/ClientBin/ServiceCatalogSilverlightModule.xap.
Network guys who configured the F5 can't see any network issues blocking the request. The F5 isn't doing SSL offloading, certificate is on the software portal server.

  • Query result list sort order in the Service Manager Portal (2012).

    Hi there,
I have a setup a user prompt for a request offering in which the values are based on a query results list.  When the user prompt is displayed in the portal the order of the items presented based on my query results list is in reverse
alphabetical order (Z to A) instead of traditional A to Z.  I can clicked the column header to toggle the sort order, however having to do this is slightly annoying.
My query results list is based on returning the Department field of a specific criteria of template AD user accounts (which are imported into the CMDB via the AD Connector).
Where and how is the sort order defined?
    Thanks
    Bryan

    Hi Bryan,
After a quick test I can see the query results is in a descending order based on the first display column of the query results configuration. In the Request offering wizard I don't see an option for sorting. I don't think it is possible to configure this
    out of the box.
But maybe it is possible from a Self Service Portal rendering point of view. Maybe there is a key for it in the settings.xml just like the maximum of query results:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2011/11/08/advanced-query-results-customization-for-request-offerings.aspx
If this is possible I'm also curious to know how! :)

  • Comments through service manager portal

    Hi all,
I have the requirement to send out a notification if a user adds comments to a task they have logged though the portal which has not already been allocated to an analyst. We already have notifications
set up for allocated tasks but are struggling to set up ones for unallocated ones. <o:p></o:p>
Any help would be much appreciated
    Many Thanks!

The notification will go to an inbox that is monitored by the service desk. The reason I have been asked to set this up is because users are chasing up tasks that are yet to be assigned by adding
a comment through the portal. These comments are going unnoticed until the task is picked up by an analyst (not great customer service)<o:p></o:p>

  • Service Manager 2012 R2 Self Service Portal Request Offering page length

How can I control the number of fields displayed in the SSP for my request offerings?
I would like to only ask a few questions per page and have the end user click next to continue asking questions.

you have to edit settings.xml in wwwroot\system center service manager portal\contenthost\clientbin (on the web content server)
I think the key is called DefaultNumberOfQuestionsPerPage, and after changing this you should restart the webservice to see an immediate effect

  • Changing Service Manager Self-Service Portal URL in SharePoint

I was unsure of whether to put this in the SharePoint forum or here, so please feel free to move as needed.
Just finished a large scale deployment of Service Manager.  The SharePoint farm was setup with 2 servers in the farm and 2 seperate web content servers behind an F5 load balancer.  The self service portal is http://ssp/SMPortal (default installation)
and this URL is set on the F5 to load balance between the web content servers.  When I type in http://ssp.domain.com I want it to go to the portal, but instead takes me to the default SharePoint site.  If I type in http://ssp.domain.com/SMportal
    if loads the portal fine.
My question is there a way to setup SharePoint and/or the WCS servers so that when someone types in the URL http://ssp.domain.com it takes them to the portal?  I am not very familiar with the interworkings of SharePoint so I have not made any changes.
The portal was installed on port 80 with all default settings.
    Thanks for any help

    Warm Fuzzies!

You need to add another endpoint URL to the sharepoint site. Sharepoint decides what content to show you by looking at the host header, so unless the host header you are asking for is bound to a site, sharepoint won't know what site to provide you.
    Consider http://blogs.msdn.com/b/russmax/archive/2013/02/27/how-to-properly-change-the-host-header-url-of-a-web-application-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx

  • External Portal to Service Manager

    Hi,
Is anybody aware of an external self service web portals that outside customers could submit SM requests?
Would this be essentially configuring a Self Service Portal like the one from Cireson or Sylliance for external use and have it tied to SM that is sitting internally?
Also how about a plugin on a website that would allow a customer to enter a problem report from the external website that would log a ticket in Service Manager internally?
    Thanks
    Lance

Looks like Gridpro's Request Management for WAP has this ability
    http://www.gridprosoftware.com/en/products/requestmanagement/hosters . It has Claims-based authentication.

  • Service Manager and Portals

    I have a question :
Have I to use a Service manager (registring it in weblogic
properties ) to implements a portal that manages users autentication in
a "main" jsp (with WLPS tags) ?.
If i do that I've to assign an ACL to Portal Service Manager servlet
    to everyone (isn't it?) .
If i'm right (¿what's the utility of Service Manager ?).
    thanks

    Hello Mig,
You have to use the PortalServiceManager if you want to create a portal.
You can create a personalized application that is not a portal that uses the
JspServiceManager, and you could create a personalized application that does
not use any servicemanager servlet at all (but I wouldn't recommend it).
The PortalServiceManager extends JspServiceManager. The servicemanagers
do not authenticate users. You can authenticate users with the <um:login>
JSP tag, or do it yourself using the underlying weblogic security realm,
which you set with "weblogic.security.realmClass" in weblogic.properties.
If you are worried about anonymous users seeing things in the portal that
you don't want them to see, then make your portlets "login required" using
    the administration tools.
The PortalServiceManager manager init() method takes care of configuring
your portal to set up autologin, a default group for inheritance, session
timeout, and other things. Also, the use of a servicemanager allows you to
write rules that use HttpSession attributes. The attributes are registered
using the property management tools and the values are set using
    HttpSession.setAttribute().
