Follow the path:
SPRO ->Material Management -> External Service Management -> Service master -> Define Number Range
In menu ->Group-> maination->Aagian Group-> Insert
Now Enter
Number Range Group Text     01( example)
From Number      80000000
To Number     89999999
& save.

2. service master records to be used while procuring services with item category D, and service master numbers to be entered at service line item level. Same like materials, details like unit, description, service groups, valuation claas needs to be maintained while creation of service master.

How to remove the Mandatory indicator of Activity Number in Service Master?

Hi,
In ACNR the number range is assigned based on the service category.
Go to SPRO - MM - External Service management - Service master - Define Service Category, please untick the check box for External Number Assignment Without Validation against the respective Service Category and save.
Now try creating a new service master using AC01, it will pick the service master No. from the internal number range maintained against the Service Category

This will be 2 way communication.

Service master no ranges

Hi guys,
We have not yet gone live. When we check the no ranges for "SERV" group of service master, current no status is 3000110 in production.
Can we change this to 3000000? is there any problem by changing this number?

Hi,
I think you people have taken the client copy with all the customizations instead of creating a client and transporting the requests. So it has taken the status of the source client.
You can go to transaction ACNR and reset the status to ZERO and then proceed with Service Master creation.

1. What is use of Service Category. Do we need to use the default or we need to configure as per our requirement.
2. while creating Service Order, we need to enter Single Short Text in Item & Multiple Short Texts in Item Details. What is the actual use of providing Multiple Short Texts in Item Details.

I get this message on two different machines installing SQL2014 developer edition, a Windows 7 and a Windows 8 machine. Both machines have SQL2005 through SQL2012 developer machines installed and working great. I have tried uninstalling all SQL2014 stuff and
installing again making sure I was running as an Administrator to no avail.

Hi Tom,
Sorry for the delay. We can exclude the media factor since you were able to install it on VM with this media.
If I understand correctly, Shanky said “Abve message can also appear due to corrupt profile so deleteting old profile and creating new one and using this to install would also help.Make sure you always RK on setup.exe and select run as administrator” which
means your user account may be corrupted rather than the Virtual account. You can create a new Windows user account and use it to log into the system. Then, re-try the installation.

Service Master / Activity Master description change Issue

Dear Experts,
I am facing problem with Service master / Activity Master description change problem.
Steps in the problem -
1) Service Master / Activity Master created.
2) Long term purchase order (with large quantity) is created.
3) Service entry sheet and Invoice has been posted for the Purchase Order.
Due Service master / Activity master description change requirement from client, description of the
Services are changed.
But it is not updated in Purchase order. (As purchase order has been created before service master description change)
and when i am trying to post next service entry sheet with reference to the long term purchase order created,
it is not adopting the new one service description.

The solution to your issue could be achieved as follows:
In the item level 'Service' tab for the corresponding PO line item, change the quantity to which you have already made Service Entry sheet. Then create a new line item with the Service number, once you enter the Service number you would see the new description here. Then when you create a Service Entry sheet with reference to PO, the system would ask you to select one of the two entries you have in PO. Here select the new entry which you have made.

You have to configure service category in SPRO for service master and you can assign the number range in SPRO
The path is SPRO is:
Materials Management-External Services ManagementService Master---Define Service Category
Service Master is created using AC03
The service master record counts as part of the master data within External Services Management and serves as a source of data for you to draw upon when creating service specifications. This enables you to save time and reduces the frequency of errors, since you need only enter the complete service descriptions in the service master record once.
A service master record contains the following principal information for the unique description of a service:
Service number
Service category
Descriptive texts (short and long text)
Base unit of measure
Material group
Valuation class by which G/l account is determined
when you reference it in the PO, all the data gets transfered and you avoids the mistakes

Cin details service tax number - urgent

Hi,
In vendor master i am able to see CIN details for PAN TAN Excise and other numbers but i am not able to see service tax registration number. every time if it needs to be updated i have to go to J1ID and update.
Is there any setting through which Service tax registration number will also be available in vendor master for change.

Thanks for ur reply, but my problem is different. all users are maintained in that setting. problem is in CIN details I am able to view other registration numbers but only service tax number is not visible.
I am able to fill it from J1ID but not able to display it on vendor master.

In the vendor master, on top you will have 'CIN' tab. Under this you can maintain the service tax number
If this tab is not visible for the userid, then maintain settings in MM in OMT3E (under User screen reference assign '01' to user id

I want to create a Template for Service Master Record number range (Activity number)

I know that for material master it can be done by using a special template
can someone help me with this issue
if there is any FM that can check that only Service Master Record in this template will be accepted

T-code- ACNR.
click on Groups. and insert new group with you are Number range either external or Internal number ranges .
Now add the service category elements to the group
Example:
Create Activity 01 Group.
