  • Time and Classifieds services missing after installing LabVIEW 8.0

    Hi,
After installing LabVIEW 8.0 I noticed the Lookout Time and Classifieds services are missing.  At first I thought it was just the Lookout lighthouse in the system tray which had disappeared but when checking in services.msc I can see that the services themselves are no longer there.  The Citadel server is, however.
I am using Lookout Direct so please let me know if this question is more appropriate on the Automation Direct forums.  I'm trying to change to a NI solution instead but every step is taking me considerable time.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Try to repair Lookout Direct from Windows Add/Remove Programs. The missing services should be reinstalled after repair.

  • Print Services inactive after server reboot

    Hi,
after each server (10.4.7) reboot, the Print Services remain inactive. I have to stop/start the Print Services using Server Admin to resume normal operations.
Is this a bug or a feature?

Mac Mini PPC, 1,25 GHZ   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have the exact same issue. With the help of another discussion thread, I discovered the following:
    1) After restarting the server, if you use Network Utility to port scan your server, you'll probably find that port 515 ("LPR Printing") is blocked. This was true for me even when I turned the Firewall service off altogether.
    2) After stopping and restarting the Print Service in Server Admin, if you port scan your server again, you'll find that port 515 is now open.

  • Media missing after server migrate

    Greeting All,
I just help my friend migrate their server to another Mac. After migrate media and FCP project file. We found there are media missing via AFP sharing.
This was working fine in old server. We try SMB everything look fine but with terrible performance. Is there any we need fix in server end? Please advise.
    Thanks,

The view from the command line in Terminal.app is the canonical source for the files on a system, so I'd confirm that the path matches your expectations — you can drag file or folder icons from the Finder window directly into Terminal to get the path visible — enter a # to prevent accidental execution, then drag the file or folder icon right to the input line in Terminal — and confirm you're where you think you are.
Check that your date and time and your time zone are set correctly on all systems.
Per Apple, do not log directly into the server console with a network account.

  • Published service missing after restore

After having to restore all software & data after a hard drive failure on my iMac, Lightroom 5 appears ok but has lost published services that I had set up. These were smart such as pictures added in the last two months.  Thinking I would have to set them up again I was surprised to find that  when trying  to add "Last2Months" it was rejected as it already existed. I can't see this in lightroom. Does anyone know where lightroom stores published services properties?

Compare "DI Labs 1" with "DI Labs 4 VMWare".
As you see, everything has a little bit of an impact, having a virtual network, memory access, CPU overhead. Not much but significant.
So for dev/test no problem at all, in fact we use that inhouse at SAP a lot ourselves. Our entire demo and training environments are using virtual machines. For a prod system I would evaluate if the advantages are big enough compared to the lower throughput.
And actually, I prefer to install the jobserver on the same machine as the target database is located at anyhow.

  • Users missing after server restart

    Hello,
I have had 2 servers in the past week loose all the user accounts after a server restart. In both cases I had to restore from backup. Anyone else have this happen to them?
    Thanks!

    Hi Henrique,
How are you restarting your server?
The roles and users are present in the data\ldap folder on your server folder, by any chance are they getting deleted?

  • Consequences of password expiration AFTER server is started

    Hi,
What happens when the LDAP server expires the password for the account specified
    in boot.properties?
What are all the activities for which the WebLogic Server keeps checking the validity
of this userid/pwd? For example, Windows checks for your authorization pretty
much for every time you access a resource like a file, etc.
Any pointers to documentation is greatly appreciated. I am curious to know what
exactly happens behind the scenes when the password expires AFTER the server is

My guess is that the next time an authentication is required that the
expired password will fail. I don't know of any comprehensive list that
details everytime an authentication is undertaken.

  • Pending message redelivery wait period after server startup

Hi, I have seen an strange behaviour in the way pending JMS messages are
redelivered to MDBs at server startup.
In my unit test I have seen that, killing Weblogic during an MDB code
execution as expected makes the container to redelivery unconfirmed message
at server startup. I have also seen that it's redelivered about 4 minutes
after server is started (more info of this in thread: "Problem with
persistent messages and MDBs" 25 October 2002)
After a recent crash we have had on the system in wich there were a lot of
messages pending to deliver to an MDB we saw that they were being
redelivered just after the MDBs were deployed while system was starting. Of
course due to the fact that some components needed by the MDB were not
deployed by that time, a lot of exceptions were raised making messages to be
queued again and promptly delivered wich caused more exceptions. Just a big
              mess!
I'm tring to figure a good work-around about this, what I wanted to know is
how is implemented the "delay" to send messages after server startup. Is it
done by comparing timestamp of message (when did it enter the queue and
thereby persisted on the store) with current system time?. That approach of
course will fail if any of the messages were sent before that "delay" time.
If this is the case and there isn't a fix for it this is what I have in
              mind:
Each MDB will have a private attribute wich will be used to detect when
system has completely started. By default it will be false and after a
message is sent to the MDB the first line of the onMessage method will test
wether system has started or not (by checking weblogic connection port i.e.
7001. Btw. is there any better way of checking server has finished start-up)
if not, a runtime exception will be launched that will force message to be
redelivered (without trying to execute any MDB code), I think setting a
proper redelivery delay i.e. 30-60 secs. will allow server to startup with
less problems (in the situation I described above JVM crashed with an 11
              system signal)
Any other ideas to deal with this?
              Thanks in advance.
              Regards.
              Ignacio.

    Hi Ignacio,
I think you can usually control the order in which ejb's are booted,
through a combination of console settings and
meta file entries. I suggest posting to the ejb newsgroup
              to find out how.
The four minute delay you see is normal for resolving
interrupted transactions, but I believe that an enhancement
was put into a 7.0 SP to reduce or eliminate this interval,
and that 8.1 has no interval. Post to the transaction
newsgroup for more info, or contact customer support.
Given that you referenced earlier posts on this issue, you
probably already know how to tune the interval down to one
              minute even without the enhancements.
There is no other delay for sending messages at system startup,
as soon as the MDB is booted it attaches to JMS, and JMS
starts delivering messages whose transactional state is known.
              Tom
P.S. I suppose one way to detect end-of-boot is to
place a startup class last in the boot order.
P.P.S. For MDBs one alternative is to code a "sleep" in the onMessage if
an unavailable resource is detected - this
is hokey, but works as long as you have made sure that
max-beans-in-free-pool totals do not come near or exceed
              available thread pool size.

  • Executing 2nd command after server rebooted & related services started

    hi friends
i am creating a PS script containg two lines:
the first line executes dcpromo /unattend:c:\answerfile.txt to create a new domain controller
the second line will disable domain password complexity which is:
    set-executionPolicy -identity mydomain.lab -complexityenabled $false -minimumpasslength 5
the problem is i need after first line of the script, executed, server be rebooted & the 2nd line
be executed after server rebooted & whey AD services started, this script continue to run the next line.
    is it ossible in powershell?
    thanks in advanced

You won't be able to do that in the same script.
You can use a second script that waits for the AD services to start, and then sets the password policies and run that script after the restart using the RunServicesOnce key:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/179365?wa=wsignin1.0
Use the first script to set that key and then do the restart after the DC promo is finished.

To check the local network for some of the common configuration problems, launch Terminal.app and issue the following diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
That'll report some local configuration information and then either no errors detected and no changes required, or it'll point to whatever configuration errors or issues it might detect.  That doesn't catch everything, but it catches the common errors.
FWIW, 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are poor choices for the local network, as VPNs are based on IP routing and IP routing gets tangled when the same subnet is used on both ends of the VPN. 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are near ubiquitous in home networks and coffee shops.
