Service-module g2/0 session access fails
I did not add a vty/telnet password when I initially configured my NME-X-23ES-1G switch in my 3825 router. Now, of course I can not telnet to the switch, but the session access fails as well. How do I recover this?
Config in 3825:
interface GigabitEthernet2/0
ip address 106.40.x.x.255.255.0
Attempt to access switch module:
3825_Router2#service-module g2/0 sess
Trying 106.40.77.254, 2130 ...
% Connection refused by remote host
The default configuration for Cisco EtherSwitch service modules allows an end user to recover from a lost password. The password recovery disable feature allows the system administrator to protect access to the switch password by disabling part of this functionality and allowing the user to interrupt the boot process only by agreeing to set the system back to the default configuration. With password recovery disabled, the user can still interrupt the boot process and change the password, but the configuration file (config.text) and the VLAN database file (vlan.dat) are deleted.
The following document shows how to recover from a lost or forgotten password.

Does ASA Service Module on 6509-E support Remote Access VPN ?
I'm having a problem configuring Remote Access VPN (SSL, Anyconnect ect.) on ASA Service Module on 6509-E. Is this even supported or am i wasting my time trying to make something work which will not work in a first place :) ? Site-to-Site works without any problems.
Tech Info:
6509-E running SUP 2T 15.1(2)SY
ASA Module - WS-SVC-ASA-SM1 running image - asa912-smp-k8 & asdm-712
Licenses on ASA:
Encryption-DES - Enabled
Encryption-3DES-AES -Enabled
Thanks in Advance for support. Are you running multiple context mode?
If you are, remote access VPN is not supported in that case:
"Note Multiple context mode only applies to IKEv2 and IKEv1 site to site and does not apply to AnyConnect, clientless SSL VPN, the legacy Cisco VPN client, the Apple native VPN client, the Microsoft native VPN client, or cTCP for IKEv1 IPsec."

What if two service modules fail on a MDS 9513?
Hello,
We recently had a service module failure on one of our core MDS 9513 directors.
It is fixed now but I was wondering what would happen if the second service module had failed as well a bit later...
Will the director still function? All line cards and crossbars are still functionning. But there will be no management possible etc...
Will the traffic continue?
Kind regards,
IvyIvy
The director would then fail completely.
Though I don't know anyone that unlucky -
Cisco 3560 service module failed state
Hi Expert,
My office has a Cisco 2911 ISR router, we installed a 3560 service module 16P on it.
But I use command "sh ip int bri" in 2911 router when we finished installation.
The result shows that the interface Gi 1/1 doesn't work, I have try to re-install SM 16P twice, the result is the same.
The normal 2911 ISR + 3560 SM 16P show as below,
2911#sh ip int brief

I understand what you mean, I have done this work for assign Gi 1/0 an IP address, and then using command "service-module gi 1/0 session" to enter the service-module to configure it at all.
But I just want to know what is the Gi1/1 interface used for?
I use command "sh cdp nei" on others 2911 ISR + 3560 service module, all of the has the Gi 1/1 interface, and 2911 router using Gi 1/1 interface connected service module Gi 0/17. And Gi 1/1, Gi 0/17 is configured with "trunk interface".
I'm wondering whether my 2911 router Gi 1/1 has some physics error? or maybe it has another command to to "OPEN" the Gi 1/1 on 2911?

ASA Service Module on 6500 montoring console session
We have 6500 with ASA Service Module
On 6500 how can we configure so that if someone logs in to the ASA Service Module and reboots the firewall we can have logs of it in syslog of switch .
Thanks for helpI hate to answer my own posts, but here it is. TAC tells us that there are 2 choices to make this work. Apparently the way that worked on an ISR and ISRG2 does not work on the 4000 series routers. I guess that's progress.
Option 1. Use a physical cable to connect one of the router's interfaces to one of the etherswitches interfaces and treat it just like the etherswitch is a seperate physical switch. I'm sure there is a use case for that but I'll not cover that here.
Option 2. Use the "service instance" feature on the router's internal interface to bind it to a new "BDI" virtual interface on the router. This is what we'll do.
On our router ethernet-internal 1/0/0 maps to Gi0/18 on the etherswitch, all internal to the box. The router will be10.0.0.1 and the switch will be 10.0.0.2.
Router:
interface Ethernet-Internal 1/0/0
service instance 1 ethernet
encapsulation dot1q 50
rewrite ingress tag pop 1
interface BDI 1
mtu 9216
ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
Switch:
interface Gi0/18
switchport trunk vlan allowed 50
switchport mode trunk
vlan 50
name Egress vlan
interface vlan 50
ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1
Then there are a million ways to design and configure the switch as a normal 3560X switch but that's beyond the scope of my question. -

A problem with a session Access
Hi Olivier,
To connect with Forte while running distributed you must use System DNS
instead of User DNS on the server. The ftexec.exe on your server partition
will be launched by the NodeMgr running as UID SYSTEM. User DNS are not
available to processes running as UID SYSTEM.

XML Publisher with Service Module - Service Request Reports -- URGENT
Hi all ... any pointers/help/guidance with the problem listed below would be much appreciated.
I'm working in the context of the Oracle Service Module & Service Request Reports.
I'm required to configure the XML Publisher Responsibility seeded functionality with the service module reports.
Listed below are the two reporting requirements that I'm considering , corresponding to the following seeded XMLP Responsibility seeded components:
(I'm quoting an extract from the Oracle TeleService Implementation & User Guide here).
Detailed Report
Data Definition: Service Request Detail Definition (CS_SR_DETAIL_DEF)
Corresponding Template: Service Request Detail Report Template (CS_SR_DETAIL_TMP.en)
Template Description: Includes all of the available service request attributes including charges, the two descriptive flexfields, and extensible attributes.
Summary Report
Data Definition: Service Request Summary Definition (CS_SR_SUMMARY_DEF)
Corresponding Template: Service Request Summary Report Template (CS_SR_SUMMARY_TMP_en)
Template Description: Includes a subset of the detailed report attributes including the same charges information as the detailed report.
When I log into the EBS >> XML Publisher Administrator Responsibility >> Service Application ... I find these seeded XMLP components, together with the preview data, downloadable templates & sample output.
The question is:
Where (responsibility/application/navigation/etc.) do I find the seeded EBS Service Reports to provide the expected XML input to the seeded XMLP Service Request Data Definitions & Templates????
Notes ...
I have found the following two reports, under the Service Application in EBS, set their output type to XML and viewed the output of the submitted request:
- Service Request Detail Report
- Service Request Summary Report
... but each of these two reports produce XML output of a different data model/structure to that expected by each of the corresponding seeded XMLP data-definitions/templates.
Additionally, I cannot find any corresponding concurrent program definitions on the system with the same SHORT-NAME/CODE as the seeded XMLP data definitions themselves i.e. CS_SR_DETAIL_DEF and CS_SR_SUMMARY_DEF.
Are the necessary reports not actually seeded within EBS? Do the seeded XMLP data definitions & templates require development of new Concurrent Programs from scratch to access the database tables and provide the necessary data/input, or am I missing something here??I am sure you found a solution to your problem. If not, to give a pointer to this issue, I guess these reports are gererated right from the service request screen and this definition is used there. This report can be generated from several places based on where you are within SR scree.
Thanks

Disk Access Failed while Installing Solaris Container.
I have setup 5 guest domains together with the Control Domain.
$ ldm list
Name State Flags Cons VCPU Memory Util Uptime
primary active -t-cv SP 4 4G 0.8% 2d 2h 15m
secondary active -t--v 5000 4 2G 0.5% 3h 5m
dmz active -t--- 5001 8 2G 0.0% 46m
sunray inactive -----
application inactive -----
identity active -t--- 5002 4 4G 0.1% 1h 2m
In each of the guest domain, I plan to install a number of Solaris Containers to run different applications. While installing one Solaris container (zoneadm z <zone name> install) in dmz domain, I start the installation/configuration (either zoneadm z <zone name> install or zlogin C <zone name>) of another Solaris container in identity domain. Everything starts OK until half way I get an error message as follow:
Jun 13 18:33:16 dmz vdc: NOTICE: [1] disk access failed.
The installation of the Solaris Container in dmz halts as soon as I see the message above. Nothing will work except a force stop in the Control Domain using ldm stop f dmz and restart.
What happen to the Solaris Container installation/configuration in identity domain? It either continues the process without error or fails with the same error message shortly after. For example,
Jun 13 18:33:24 identity vdc: NOTICE: [1] disk access failed.
The vdisks for each guest domain are setup by following the steps on section Using ZFS Over a Virtual Disk in LDoms 1.0 Administration Guide. Each guest domain is booted from a disk image in the Control Domain and has two 9GB data vdisks (mapped to two physical 9GB disks on A5200 disk array) running ZFS striping. Each guest domain vdisks are serviced by a separate vdisk server.
Any idea?I am not sure if multiple virtual disk servers are officially supported under current LDoms release.
I had tried using only one virtual disk server. The same problem exhibited. I thought may be the vds was not able to keep up with the virtual disk I/O. That's why I setup multiple vds. -
NT error: service "Oracle7" in DLL "operfdll.dll" failed
We are running JavaWebServer 1.1.3 on an NT 4.0, SP 3 machine.
There are a number of Java servlets running that access an Oracle
7.3 database on another NT 4.0 machine via the Oracle JDBC driver
and sql*net.
We get the following sequence of errors in the event log,
followed by a Dr. Watson error of an access violation in
the jrew.exe (jws runtime). At this point the web server is
pretty much dead as far as trying to run any servlet.
It's strange because the last error references an Oracle service
and the operfdll.dll, which isn't even on any of the machines
involved. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I saw a thread
on another forum where someone was having the same problem,
but they were using NeXT WebObjects.
The event messages:
1) The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source (
\WindowServer.exe ) could
not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s):
warning: can't connect
to the nmserver; is it running?.
Source WindowsServer.exe
2) The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( \pbs.exe )
could not be
found. It contains the following insertion string(s): warning:
can't connect to
the nmserver; is it running?.
Source \pbs.exe
3) The Open Procedure for service "Oracle7" in DLL "operfdll.dll"
failed.
Performance data for this service will not be available. Status
code returned
is DWORD 0.
Source: Perflib
nullHotfix loaded but didn't help.
Found a few articles referring to rebuilding the perf counter library. I ran "lodctr /R" failed first time then worked the second time. I believe the errors:
The Open Procedure for service "WDSTFTP" in DLL "C:\Windows\system32\wdstftp.dll" failed
The Open Procedure for service "WDSServer" in DLL "C:\Windows\system32\wdssrv.dll" failed
The Open Procedure for service "WDSMC" in DLL "C:\Windows\system32\wdsmc.dll" failed
Are gone but PXE boot still fails.
Do you think I might have to uninstall WDS and reinstall? "Using SCCM console to just remove PXE"

DB Connection in Oracle Self Service Modules
Hi,
I have one question about oracle Self Service modules.
I am using Oracle Ebusiness Suite 11.5.10 on Oracle 10g database.
What database user it connects to when we login to Oracle Apps Self service modules?
Assuming that its 'APPS' db user, can I change this db user to some other user ?
We are planning to archive and purge the workflow tables to another database and want to access that
data using db link.
So, we want to access archived data stored in other database using the db link.
Can somebody explain me how to achieve this?
Thanks,
DRWhat database user it connects to when we login to Oracle Apps Self service modules?Apps user.
Assuming that its 'APPS' db user, can I change this db user to some other user ? You cannot change this user as it is not easy to do that, plus you would lose support (unless you have your own custom module).
