Service pack 5 core dumping
We were having the same trouble with 5.1.0 SP9
using Oracle Client 8.1.5, Oracle Server 8.1.7.
Also using Solaris 2.7 and JDK 1.3.1.
and OCI JDBC drivers supplied by Weblogic.
This gave us sporatic failures identical to below.
Thin drivers were too slow and also produced other
'wierd' side effects.
SP10 allows upgrade to Oracle 8.1.7 client drivers.
The combination upgrade to SP10 and Oracle 8.1.7 client
drivers appears to fix the problem.

I don't think SP-5 is causing core dump. The following stack trace
doesn't show me that JVM has core
dumped
on this particular native call. Post the full thread dump here ,so that we can analyze further.
If you take out SP4, don't you see this problem? Could you try type-4driver also?

11g Native Web Services Core Dump ( qmuwsPrintPackWSDL() )
I know that native PL/SQL web services are newer functionality, but I have not been able to find any information on the following issue on MetaLink or here on the forums. When creating 11g native web services when attempting to retrieve the WSDL documents from the server the document is only partially served (estimated at about 2/3rds) or not at all (blank document returned).

Inetd service/program crashes with core dump in Solaris 8 zone/container
I have developed a service in C that is launched from inetd when something comes on a specific port.
When a connection is opened to the port a core dump is created in the same directory where the executable file is located.
If you run the same service program from the command line everything is working perfect.
This is running in a Solaris 8 zone/container on a Solaris 10 machine.
Everything is set correctly in /etc/inetd.conf and in /etc/services.
I have even stripped down the program to a hello world program that is just printing a string to the screen and it is still crashing with a core dump.
# ldd test_srv
/usr/lib/secure/s8_preload.so.1
libc.so.1 => /usr/lib/libc.so.1
libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-480R/lib/libc_psr.so.1
The same service is running on a Linux machine and on a Solaris 10 machine without zones/containers without any problems.
Can you please help me figure out what am I missing. Is there something specific with zones/containers that should be set / configured?
Do I have to set some specific env. variables to work in a Solaris 8 zone/container environment or is it something very simple that I'm missing?Could you please examine the truss log and advice what the problem is and how to fix it?

Core dump loops on a forms 5 crashes
dear all,
a customer uses really old forms stuff (v 5.0.6.23.1). in some cases the forms-application crashes (not reproducible, because the app. says goodbye in different actions/triggers - i'm still investigation to find some similaries) and writes a core dump.
the curious problem is, that the generation of the dump-file loops (see the call stack below) and writes a huge f50run32_dump file (until the disk space exceeds). these ends up in a loss of service if the sysadmins don't intervene instantly.
does anyone know/hear something about such a phenomenon?

snip <<<<<<<<<<i have forgotten to mention, that the the migration decision is not on my way. if i could, i had migrated the stuff to 10gR2 and assigned the problem to the oracle support.
but the last 2tier environment has already been considered. maybe that problem will force the management to react.
furthermore, i searched the metalink without any result. i hope somebody has an idea what i can check, configure, some workaround hints, etc.
does anyone know a tool for winnt to limit the max. filesize on os-level. so a loss of service can be prevented easily.
thx for your replys -
Large Core Dumps after DB Backup Control File
Hi All,
Server Specs (it is the test server having no functional modules):
Windows 2003 64bit
Oracle 10.2.0.4 (Patched from 10.2.0.2)
Netweaver 2004s
SQL> RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE UNTIL CANCEL
ORA-00279: change 21375038 generated at 09/21/2007 20:12:47 needed for thread 1
ORA-00289: suggestion : /export/pspp/oracle/dbs/xxx_example_xxx.dbf
ORA-00280: change 21375038 for thread 1 is in sequence #4
Specify log: {=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
/OraRedo/RedoLogFiles/xxx_example_xxx.dbf
Log applied.
Media recovery complete.
I was facing Control file inconsistence issues against 2 partitions. Issue was resolved by using above commands and Netweaver started successfully. Im now facing another problem, im getting huge tracefiles in SAPTRACE\BACKGROUND folder since its recovery. I deleted those tracefiles which were of approx. 86GB.
Current Tracefiles sizes are:
<drive>:\oracle\TST\saptrace\background\tst_m000_5188.trc (7MB) and it is getting double by each generation.
Here are tracefiles of today (old ones deleted by me coz it was consuming a hell of space, e.g: 86GB as mentioned):
tst_m000_5188.trc (7 MB) Latest
tst_j000_5316.trc (4MB)
Here is Initial info from alert_tst.txt file contained in same folder:

Sdo_aggr_union core dump on 11.1
I am using the spatial features of Oracle 11.1 and I have run into a bug
that causes the instance to core dump. I am wondering if anyone could help
me sort out the problem.
I can send the data in the table and the full trace file to anyone interested. I would just attach them to this message, but the forum does not appear to support attachments.

Hi
We are running WLS5.1SP10 on a HP-UX 11.00 and stress the WLS with
50
parallel
users. For the Connection to the DB (Oracle 8.1.7) we use the oci driver
oci816_8
with is deliverd with the sp10. our initial poolsize is set to 20 and
the max
is 100. the currentThreadsize we try from 50 to 140. Already aftera
few requests
(<400) the wls writes a core dump. As we make this with sp6 no coredump
occured,
but the java memory heap overflow.
has somebody the same experience and know a solution for the problem?

Delegate Admin install fails with core dump
I have been attempting to install the iPlanet Delegated Adminstrator with the Messaging Server 5.2 release. I am using Directory Server 5.1 service pack 1 on Solaris 8.
Installation of DS 5.1 goes fine.
Installation of MS 5.2 goes fine.
Installation of the web server 6.0 wtih sp4 goes fine
Every time I attempt to install DA, I get a "Segmentation Fault - core dumped" and absolutely no other information.Since this is not a normal thing, I only have two suggestions left:
1. Download the latest version if iDA:
http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/products/3ed69a6c.html
2. Download and apply p1 for iMS (now a year old, but the latest publically available version):
http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/products/3e3afb91.html
3. Install the latest Solaris patch cluster.
If the above fail, then:
4. Open up a tech support ticket. -
OWB 9.03.35.3 + Oracle 9.2 + Core dumps
We have big problems, after we migrate to Oracle 9.2 Database with our packages, we use a selfimplemented Flowmanager like the Oracle one based on a web application using oracle specific functions, but after we migrate to 9.2 no package works, most of them causes core dumps!!!!!
Here is the info we send to Metalink.
Do someone have an idea what may cause this problems!!!!

Sync tests completed successfully.I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.
Here is a link that will take you directly to the Tech Note:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328730
When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me). -

Through IBM, we got those answer :
Looking at the javacore files, we're seeing OOM errors. However,
looking at a heapdump, we're not seeing total heap space exhaustion -
around half of the heap is occupied, and occupancy by the vartious
objects seems, to me at least, to be normal.
The threads
seem to be using the compound class loader to load the customer's
"Hibernate" code - and in the largest of the threads in the heapdump -
(it consumes 258,720,168 bytes), the class org/hibernate/impl/Session
Impl and its children - consume 129,540,864 bytes.
The other 128,785,680 is consumed by org/hibernate/proxy/CGLIBLazyInitia
lizer. There are some other classes that make up the small difference
if you added these numbers.
The class com/softleader/hibernate/util/HibernateUtil and its children
consume 74,932,848 bytes.
I could go on through the heapdump, but there are very large classes
in here, and it may be more advantageous to get a verbosegc turned on
to show the patterns of JVM Heap requirements.
I suppose that the customer is developing this app for a 32bit
architecture market, since they are keeping their JVM Heap within the
32 bit limits. If this is the case, then Xmx=1280 and Xms=384 seems a
more reasonable JVM setting. If they are not, and they want to try
Xmx above 1280, then we have not yet had much experience with 64 bit
but I'd expect that the larger heapsize would benefit the application.
Either way, we need verbosegc turned on to monitor the heap requests.
That mean, i have to turn up JVM Heap size? or what can i do for it?
Thanks a lot.I'd hook up a profiler to your app and monitor it to see what's happening and what objects aren't playing nice.
