Service Pack vs. Hotfix
Hi All,
I want to just find out some information regarding the SAP Business One 2007 A Upgrade (SP01) and the Hotfix for SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007A SP01 Patch 05.
Do I have to install both as they both almost seem the same size? SAP Business One 2007 A Upgrade (SP01) is 868 mb and was released on 23/06/2009 and Hotfix for SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007A SP01 Patch 05 is 852 mb and was released on the 26/062009.
Is it possible to just install the Hotfix for SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007A SP01 Patch 05 or will I have to first install the SAP Business One 2007 A Upgrade (SP01) and then the Hotfix for SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007A SP01 Patch 05?
Please any help will be appreciated.
Hi Verbrugt,
Its better you first install the SAP Business One 2007 A Upgrade (SP01) and then the Hotfix for SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007A SP01 Patch 05.

AndersonHello,
Step 1: Install SP1,this will replace your RTM version of Xcelsius ,you can download it from here.
[https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]
Step 2: Install FP1,upon completion of installation the Help > About Xcelsius version should show a build version no; of 12.1.1.344. Again you can download FP1 from here,

Look in the "patches" folder under "<Program Files>\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11". It will give you a folder listing for each service pack, monthly hotfix, and critical hotfix you have installed. If you are using Crystal Reports XI R2 you will want to look in your Add/Remove Programs instead. -
Zen 3.2 snap shot to force out windows 2000 service packs and critical patches
Zen 3.2 snap shot to force out windows 2000 service packs and critical

has anyone used MSI to do the installations of services packs. All Hotfixes and SPs have switches on the EXEs to allow for silent
installs.
This is the recommended method of deploying these.

How do install a service pack on log shipping database
How do i install a service pack on log shipped database whethe on primary or secondary
could any one please provide the detailed step by step procedure .
Help apprecitedHello Shanky,
I recommend the secondary first, based on the following criteria:
“Always upgrade the secondary server instance first. If the primary server were upgraded before a secondary server, log shipping would
fail because a backup created on a newer version of SQL Server cannot be restored on an older version of SQL Server”.
Source:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645954.aspx
Less downtime could be another benefit of applying SP on the secondary first. You can apply to the secondary first, then failover, then
apply to new secondary server (once the primary server).
But I know another way to do it is applying the service pack on the secondary and the primary without failing over.
The following resources recommend the secondary first too:

Hi,
You can safely apply SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=30437
If you read about cumulative updates its specifically mentioned by Microsoft that CU are intended to fix only problem for which they are created as solution if you are not facing this issue its recommended not to appy it. Service packs are tested more throughly
than cumulative updates.
I would not like you to go for CU13 if you are not facing issue fixed by that CU

Create software update group that only contains post service pack hotfixes?
I'm creating software update groups for server and workstation OS. Is there a way to exclude pre-service pack updates from an update group (or even the search itself)? Example: all of our machines already have Windows 7 SP1 installed, therefore
I don't need to include any updates that were included in SP1. I know only required updates will be installed, but I'd rather not waste disk space downloading ones I don't need. ThxThe console shows you how many devices in your hierarchy require a given update. If you don't want to see updates that are not required by any devices, select Add Criteria > Required > Greater or Equal to 1 > Search. This assumes that the Software
Updates Evaluation cycle is run on the devices...
If you apply SP1 to all devices, the individual updates (pre-SP1), should not be required by the devices (they may even become superseded by SP1 - depends)... The count of Required in the console should be 0...
I know this is not the exact answer you're looking for, but it's easy... -
Exporting report to PDF takes too long on Win 2k Advanced Server, Service Pack 4
Post Author: zaverit
CA Forum: .NET
We have written VB.Net program which extracts required information from the database in the memory and then based on the configuration, exports the data to PDF using below command
ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.[Shared].ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, outFile), where outFile is .pdf filename in same folder as the executable
The program is packaged in an MSI. It includes msvcr71.dll. When installed, this generated below assemblies;
CystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
CrystalDecisons.Reportsource
CrystalDecisions.shared
When the report is run on a Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, it completes in about 4 minutes. Please see below for the specs of this workstation (Search for "Workstation Specs")
When the same report is installed on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Service Pack 4, it takes more than 2 hours. Please see below for the specs of this server (Search for "Server Specs")
Could someone point us to the problem please. We have tried following options;
checked out the dot net framework. The server and the w/s now have v2
installed adobe on the server (to ensure that there are no missing libraries or links)

ScreenSaver 02 [Have finally found a solution for this problem: http://serverfault.com/questions/490352 … w-to-start
Now the applications do start immediately via SSH X11 forwarding as expected.
The following three lines helped:
ip6tables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
ip6tables -A OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT
ip6tables -A FORWARD -i lo -o lo -j ACCEPT
While until now, all ip6 traffic has been forbidden (to drop all ip6 traffic) at the start of the system of course.
Nevertheless, I don't understand it, why the ip6 localhost has to be granted this way even if the /etc/ssh/sshd_config is configured for ip4 only "AddressFamily inet"?
I thought, that this way the sshd will be using ip4 protocol only (including for the X11 forwarding), then why does it still need the ip6? -
SSRS 2008 R2 is extremely slow. The query runs in less than a second in the dataset designer but if you try to view the report it takes over 10 minutes. I have read this is a bug in SSRS 2008 R2. We installed the most recent patches and
service packs. Nothing we've done so far has fixed it and I see that I'm not the only person with this problem. However I don't see any answers either.Hi Kim Sharp,
According to your description that when you view the report it is extremely slow in SSRS 2008 R2 but it is very fast when execute the query in dataset designer, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can‘t reproduce the issue. Obviously, it is the performance issue, rendering performance can be affected by a combination of factors that include hardware, number of concurrent users accessing reports, the amount
of data in a report, design of the report, and output format. If you have parameters in your report which contains many values in the list, the bad performance as you mentioned is an known issue on 2008 R2 and already have the hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2276203
Any issue after applying the update, I recommend you that submit a feedback at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/
If you don’t have, you can do some action to improve the performance when designing the report. Because how you create and update reports affects how fast the report renders.
Actually, the Report Server ExecutionLog2 view contains reports performance data. You could make use of below query to see where the report processing time is being spent:
After you determine whether the delay time is in data retrieval, report processing, or report rendering:
use ReportServer
SELECT TOP 10 ReportPath,parameters,
TimeDataRetrieval + TimeProcessing + TimeRendering as [total time],
TimeDataRetrieval, TimeProcessing, TimeRendering,
ByteCount, [RowCount],Source, AdditionalInfo
FROM ExecutionLog2
ORDER BY Timestart DESC
Use below methods to help troubleshoot issues according to the above query result :
Troubleshooting Reports: Report Performance

Issue: experienced when attempting to uninstall the App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS client.
Event Log: Product: Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Client for Remote Desktop Services 5.0 Service Pack 2 x64 -- Error 1324. The folder
path 'C:' contains an invalid character
Symptoms (when in this current state):
Unable to uninstall the SP2 client
You can upgrade the client (via hotfix) and uninstall the hotfix, but you will not be able to remove the SP2 client
AppvVfs filter driver will not create an instance, therefore applications will not be able to read into existing streamed VFS content, or trigger sparse files to stream content. (you can still stream the content via other means, like the UI or powershell)
Because of the AppvVfs filter driver not instantiating, applications that depend on licences that exist in VFS will not be able to be read causing certain applications to react as if the license does not exist or is an incorrect formatResolution:
Check for the existence of a hidden folder named %appdata% in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Application Virtualization\Client folder. (You will need to un-check the folder options box in windows explorer for "Hide
protected operating system files" to see it)
If the hidden %appdata% folder exists, delete it.
Proceed to uninstall the App-V client
After a clean uninstall and removal of remnants of the client, reinstall the client again and apply the latest hotfix available (Hotfix 2 for SP2 at a minimum). -
Windows 2008 Server R2 - Service Pack 1 Failed to install
A few nights ago I deployed Service Pack 1 for Windows 2008 Server R2 x64. The update failed to install after 3 attempts using the Windows Update manager. After the third time I checked the system properties which states that SP1 is
installed, yet it never appeared to install successfully as my other server machine had a prompt stating the SP was installed successfully.
In update history it shows the 3 failed attempts with no successes. This morning I began running into memory errors which are impacting my 2 VM Ware sessions which in turn lock up my virtual machine so I am going to attempt to remove and reinstall
to see if this corrects my issue. By the way what triggered the install of SP1 is random reboots of my server. This is that unknown Kernal Power Error which I have yet to resolve. Some months my server randomly reboots one time and other
months 4-5x. That is neither here nor there, the point of this discussion is to resolve SP1.
I have tried to remove SP1 by means of Control Panel, Programs and Features, Installed Updates. So it shows the that the SP1 installed in multiple areas yet in the install history no signs of successful installation.
When trying to uninstall from Program and Features/Installed Updates section in control panel it cycles through like its going to uninstall, but after several minutes I receive the following error Windows Update
An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled.
When trying to uninstall from the command prompt (as administrator) "wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932" I get the following popup Windows Update Standalone Installer
Installer encountered an error: 0x80073712 The component store has been corrupted.
Now if I try and install through the network installer file name "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" I get "Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 is already installed"
I performed these steps in the order mentioned which I came across this "System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB947821) [February 2011]" After applying this hotfix I went through the same steps as mentioned above with the
exact same results.
It is unfortuante I did not come across this hotfix before I attempted install SP1 as it appears as if this would have prepared the system for SP1 installation. Currently I am in limbo with a corrupt installation of SP1 and so far no means of uninstalling
short of a reinstallation or repair of the OS which I am not willing to do at this point in time.
If anyone has any suggestions please chime in and let me know what I can try. Thanks for all the support and hopefully this post will help others in the future.Maybe a little bit late, but I was running almost same problem on a exchange server.
Scenario:
First attempt to Update the windows patches - excluded the patches from the last 2 months.
I was kind a new to this, and didnt noticed that Windows Service pack must have at least 8GB free disk space.(Recommended)
So the C:\ partition had less then 5 GB free disk space, and I started the updates.
All went well until Windows SP1 begun running to downloading and installing.
When the installer noticed there wasnt enough space, It stopped, it give the status Failed, en when scaling up the C:\partition with another 10GB more space, the C:\partition had 18GB free disk space.
Tried to Call up a new attemp to install the SP1... but with no succes to start the SP1 installation...
I tried to reinstall but the windows update didnt get offered again to install again or resume or anything to try again...
Maybe...it is handy for Mickysoft, to check before installing, so the install wont get corrupted, and can install when c:\ partition has enough disk space.
What was the trick:
1) Stop the windows Update Service
2) C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore - Delete content
3) C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download - Delete content
4) Windows update Service check if its runs again
5) Check again for windows updates - Check if Windows Server Service pack 1 is offered, and install reboot and youre good to go.
It works for me :) hopefully after 3 years you had found a solution, but since I was poping for a solution and found this article with no solution.
I tought it will be hopefull for others to respond to this article with a solution.
Kind regards,
Alexander Tjintjelaar

THIS IS FOR THE TEST ENVIRONMENT, THERE IS ONLY ONE SP SERVER/ONE SQL SERVER
The previous admin before me had already installed OWA Sp2/September 2014 CU on this box without Project Server Sp2 being installed along with it. I am now just updating Project Server to Service Pack 2. I downloaded the file from Microsoft, and installed
the files on the box. I now am running the Products Configuration Wizard to complete the update.
note: the config database version is 14.0.7132.5000 (because of the OWA Sp2
and September cumulative update installed, it does not say Service Pack 2 anywhere)
Please see photos to see the error I am getting. I cannot access the central administration anymore, it is giving me a HTTP Error 503. I need to fix this ASAP! I have tried using another account that should have had permissions but still no dice.

ISE Posture Condition for Windows Service Pack and Remediation
Hi,
We having ISE ver 1.1.1 and currently on PoC. I have the following points to be clarified for Posture and Remediation.
1) How to configure a condition to check Windows Service pack (may be more than 1 Windows favor such as XP, Win 7 and Win 8) and how to remediate in case client is not complying with Windows requirement.
2) I configure AV condition and looks its working fine, however I still couldnt find the place to how to remediate in case client is not having proper verion and AV definition on his PC.
3) We have a Authorization profile configured with dACL"Posture Remediation" where we allowing AV server update url and also matching ACL configured on switch "Posture Redirect", wants to know the exact purpose on these two ACLs.
4) where can we see the logs of none-complaints logs and find out the reason for non-complaints
appreciate if someone can please give us a proper document to achive the above task or send me any working senario configuration steps.
thanks in advance.1. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) remediation remediates Windows clients from a locally managed WSUS server, or Microsoft-managed WSUS server with the latest Windows service packs, hotfixes, and patches (WSUS updates) for compliance. You can create a WSUS remediation where a NAC Agent integrates with the local WSUS Agent to check whether the endpoint is up-to-date for WSUS updates. You can also duplicate, edit or delete WSUS remediations from the remediations list.
You can configure Windows clients to receive the latest WSUS updates from a Microsoft-managed WSUS server, or locally administered WSUS server for compliance.
The Windows server update services (WSUS) remediations list page displays all the WSUS remediations along with their names, description, and as well as their modes of remediation
