Service Provider Distinctive Ring Call Routing

I have the situation where I want to replace an old key switch with a UC500. The only outstanding issue I have is an inbound ring feature enabled by the provider. The way it works is the customer has 2 phone lines that are members of a service provider hunt group. When they dial the pilot the first line rings and if it is busy the second line rings, no big deal. The issue is that the published fax number is the second line in the hunt group. So if the call comes in directly to the fax number the service provider gives it a distinctive ring, this is currently how the customer knows not to answer the phone and let the fax machine get it. With a UC500 implementation I would like to make this all transparent to the user. So here is my question, is there a way to route the call to the fax machine based off the fact that it rings in with this funny tone from the provider?

Call routing is based on dial plan, not tones. Tones in the speechpath will be sent to the destination, but are not used to determine where the destination should be. Fax pass-through/relay is triggered by the fax tones (CNG) when they start to sync up over the speechpath. Inband ringtones will not trigger these features; they will simply be passed through like plain voice conversation.

  • Distinctive ring vs. new line vs. adding VOIP service like Vonage or Ooma

I'm currently a FIOS/phone (double play) customer.   I need an additional phone number and am considering my options (getting a new line put in, signing up for a new VOIP service like VOnage, going cheap & just getting distinctive ring), trying to understand everything and weigh the costs/functionality/gotchas.
"Distinctive Ring" is a new option I just learned about, and it seems the easiest, and definitely the cheapest (around $5 extra a month).   However it also seems the most limited and there are a few things I don't understand for 100%.
If anyone can answer any of these questions I'd appreciate it:
    - Can you setup SEPERATE voicemail greetings for the existing landline vs. the new "distinctive" ring number?  Or would everyone calling hear the same greeting?
    - If only same outgoing message can be used, then I assume that each number uses the same voicemailbox, but can you setup different mailboxes for each line in a different way, like having your outgoing message say "Press 1 to leave message for Herman or press 2 to leave message for Granpa", thus create at least quasi-seperate voicemailboxes based on who the person was trying to call?  And if so, how?
    - As I understand it not all phones support "distinctive ring" - so how can I findout which of my existing phones do support this (other than signing up for the service then calling myself and seeing how the phones behave)?
    - Is there any way for my callerID boxes to show which # it is that is being called instead of just who is calling?
    - And is this true, that calling out I would only be placing calls from my original line, that for example on callerid of who I am calling, even if pressing callback on my phone and they called my new second #, they would see my original #, not the new one?
    Thanks for any hints.

Hi, the only tip I can give you is as far as testing if your phone is compatible with distinctive ring you could try one of two things, neither of which are free unfortunately.
    1) Call a number that is busy and then use Repeat Dial (*66) to let you know when the number is free. You will get a special ringback when the number is no longer busy.
    2) Try dialing *61 on your Verizon landline phone. In many states you will reach a feature called either Priority Call or Selective Distinctive Alert. If you add numbers to the list, when those numbers call you there will be different kinds of special rings on your phone.
Again, there will be charges on your Verizon bill to do either of these. If you use *61, be sure to clear your list and turn off the feature when you are done so you will not incur any further charges.

  • When I try to turn on my iPhone 4, it wouldn't turn on unless if I use an iPad Charger. When it will turn on. I can't connect to any WiFi Services or my Service Provider, I can't text or call anyone. When I unplug my iPhone 4 it'll just shut off.

So when I try to plug in My iPhone 4 to any plug it won't turn on or charge unless if I use an iPad charger. When I do get to turn it on. My Phone will Standby for a few seconds( While I'm Typing my 4-Digit Code) then it'll unlock and go to the home screen. Once I'm on the home Screen I can't Call, Text or Email anyone because my iPhone Can't detect any Wifi Hotspots and it also can't connect to my Service Provider, It'll just Say "Searching...". The non-internet apps work perfectly fine. So since I was able to use Just an iPad Charger to turn on my iPhone 4, I tried a Regular iPhone charger that were plugged into a wall or my computer. When its Plugged in, my iPhone will turn on ( Showing the Apple Logo) then turn back off. It'll constanly do this only when it's plugged into a Regular iPhone Charger, Either plugged into a Wall Socket or my Computer. So I Tried to Restore the Phone by using some of the Methods, given by other iPhone 4 Users, non of them worked. My iPhone won't Restart, Restore, Turn on without a Charger, Be Detected on my Computer and Detect my Service Provider. I really need help to fix my iPhone 4. I'm really not sure if it's a Malfunction with the Software on the iPhone, if my Sim Card is Broken. if the System is Corrupted but it only happens Rarely.

  • Today my phone was stolen, so i called my service provider and had my account suspended. then i found it at a pawn shop, so i reactivated it. however, my phone says that it has no SIM and I am unable to send/recieve any messages. how can i fix it?

Today while I was at work my phone was stolen. After unsuccessfully trying to track down the kids who had it, I called my service provider and asked them to suspend my account. A short time later, I found my phone at a local pawn shop and called to reactivate my phone's service. The woman on the phone said that it should only take a few minutes to reactivate. However, a coworker also told me that whenever a theft gets reported to the service provider, apple puts your phone's serial number on a list that disables yours phone's re-enactment until the service provider confirms that the phone has been found. I'm not sure if this is true, but my phone should have been working a few hours ago, and it still says that there is no SIM everytime I try to send a message. Should I just wait it out or is it more likely to be at the fault of my service provider?
    Thanks!

The SIM question/issue is separate from all of the others.  Your iPhone will not access the cellular newtwork until you install a new SIM.  The current SIM has been deactivated and is now useless.  Get a new SIM, install it (or have it installed), then have your carrier grant the iPhone access to the cellualr network.

  • It seems that viber here in Oman is not working on all Apple products.  I called up my service provider and I was told they have not blocked the app.  Suprisingly my colleagues using samsung is not experiencing the same problem. Please help..

I am living and working here in the sultanate of Oman.  Its been two days that I have not been able to use viber on my iPhone unless I use VPN.  I talked to colleagues who have iPhones and other apple devices and they said they are also experiencing the same problem.  I tried to call up my service provider (NAWRAS) and they informed me that the problem is not on their side, that they have not blocked the app.  Surprisingly, when I asked my colleagues using samsung, they said the app is working just fine.  What seems to be the problem?  Are the codecs (I hope I am using the right terms here) used by viber now are similar to that of the other messaging blocked apps like Tango, weChat and skype?
Please help us on this. Thank you!

Maybe its a Viber problem. As that is not an Apple product, why don't you try and contact the developer?

For me it looks it is an issue in the response payload that ABAP proxy can not process it.
such as, the response payload NS prefix is soapenv, other than soap-env in request payload...
but i am not sure, whether this is the root cause.
Could you help me to find out what is going wrong here?

the response payload NS prefix is soapenv, other than soap-env in request payload
xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" is equivalent to xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" . Namespace defined correctly.
I can also see that response is correct (assuming "S" denote success):
    <CreateITEMReturn>S</CreateITEMReturn>
Also check type of WSDL style usually this error occurs if you are using RPC/Encoded style WSDL, modify wsdl for Document/Literal style (as RPC style WSDL not supported by ABAP proxy), see this discussion here: Cleint Proxy error

  • I don't hear the call waiting distinctive ring/tone??

Both my best friend and I have Verizon wireless. When i'm on a call and she calls me she can hear the call waiting distinctive ring however when i call her and she's on the phone i don't hear it.
My question is why is that possible?

Yes it does help. I really dont like it and i have been wanting to get that removed, the distinctive ring. I have searched to see if its possible and alot of information contradics one another.
Do you think eventually verizon will remove it permantely across the board?
I'm confused.  In your OP you say you don't hear it.  Now you say you would like it removed.  If you don't want it AND don't hear it, what's the problem?

  • Traffic Policing on Service Provider Edge router.

    Hi,
I'm confused about the traffic policing on service provider edge router. Suppose I have taken internet bandwidth from my ISP and he says that they will give me 100 Mbps bandwidth burstable upto 1Gbps. What does that mean? what is burstable here?
I would appreiciate if anyone from service provider organization, can give a output of their edge router's running config. I just have to understand how the police our traffic. Here I'm talking about the Internet leased lines.

This is probably something you will have to get your service provider to answer. Different service providers use the term burst in a different context. Some SP's are "NICE' and will setup no policer or shaper and will purely monitor the link for fair use allowing you to exceed what you have purchased as long as you don’t abuse the privilege. Other Serves providers may setup a dual rate policer with a CIR and a PIR to achieve the same. a 3rd scenario is as explained above where the SP will setup a policer for 100Mb/s and then calculate the burst value at 1/8 of a second (or less in some cases) which allows your traffic to burst to full line rate for that time slice,
There are other scenarios but the point I’m trying to make is that service providers don’t all do this the same way which is why you should ask them what they mean and how long your traffic would be allowed to burst to line rate.

I have bought an ipad on 31st october from Saturn, ( a store in Germany) in contract with a service provider called etelon . can i change my IPAD 3 to 4 .. need ur suggestions and guidance

You will need to check that store's returns policy - Apple only accept iPads bought from directly from them, not from other stores.

  • While in Spain no service provider for calls, registered in UK before leaving,

Hi, just arrived back from mainland Spain and I was disappointed that I could not get a service provider on my Lumia 735 phone, prior to leaving I registered for making calls abroad and received confirmation from EE that this was setup and I would be charged £2 per day when I make a call, also was told I could purchase a data add on when I was abroad. My wife has the same phone on the O2 network and was connected to Movistar upon arrival and able to receive and make calls, what did I do wrong? Is it because I'm new to EE and need to be a customer for a period before I can make calls abroad?

    Hi
    Welcome to the EE Community!
Sorry to hear you didn't have use of your device abroad.
Adding the EU Daily bundles doesn't activate Roaming. Did you speak to someone to activate Roaming?
Roaming is subject to an additional check and my require a deposit.
If you call 150 choose options 1, 2, 4 & 2 this will get you through to the right department.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Verizon's third party application service provider for internationale texts

Hi, I read here that Verizon uses a third party service provider to route international text messages. On that link they say it's a company called Inphomatch, but I found out that Inphomatch merged to another company called Sybase, and on Sybase's website they say Verizon and they are partners. Shoud I think that Sybase is the one that handles international text messages for Verizon now?

Inphomatch handles International Text Messaging for Verizon.

  • SPA3102 - PSTN Distinctive Ring Detection

    Hi,
I have SPA3102 connected to Asterisk. I have a single PSTN line with two numbers, each with a distinctive ring pattern. Is SPA3102 capable to detect the ring pattern of an inbound PSTN call and provide this info to the SIP gateway (for example, in the Alert-Info SIP header).
    Thanks!

This may not be possible as the this device I think cannot recognize the Ring pattern being to the FXO port for the two numbers.
Some features are disabled or does not work when connected to the SPA3102 compared to when connected to a regular telephone.
