Service Registry - Service state

Hi all,
what means the state activated/deployed?
I thought the following:
modelled                   = The ES model was published from the ESR to the SR
activated/deployed =  The ES was deployed on the application server (no endpoint was created)
configured              = The ES was configured with endpoint
But now i have found one service with state activated/deployed with an endpoint??
Now what means activated deployed?

●      When you deploy a service definition that has no configuration settings applied through annotations in the Developer Studio, the system creates a service endpoint with default runtime settings. In the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, you can edit the settings of this service endpoint to apply your custom configuration settings, or explicitly create one with new settings.
●      When you deploy a service definition that has configuration settings only for properties of design time features in the Developer Studio, such as authentication level, or enablement of Web service reliable messaging, the system does not create a service endpoint. In the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, you have to explicitly create a service endpoint to apply runtime configuration settings.
Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Vandana.

  • An error occcurred on line 105 while executing script 'MOM Backward Compatibility Service State Monitoring Script"

We've been getting the following error for some time now.
An error occurred on line 105 while executing script 'MOM Backward Compatibility Service State Monitoring Script'
    Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Description: The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable: 'GetObject'
One or more workflows were affected by this.
    Workflow name: System.Mom.BackwardCompatibility.ServiceStateMonitoring
    Instance name: server.domain.local
    Instance ID: {INSTANCE}
    Management group: GROUP
Unfortunately the instance in question has since been decommissioned and simply does not exist any more.
We're currently on a repeat count of over 350,000 and I would REALLY like to get it stopped. I've had a look at adding an override but that points to the management server rather than the instance itself.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

    Hi Steven,
There are for option for us to override a monitor ot rule:
    For all objects of class:
    Class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply to all objects in the class at which the rule or monitor is targeted.
    For a group
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to members of the group. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all objects in the targeted class except for those objects that are also members
of the group used for the override.
When you create a group, you save it to an unsealed management pack. However, an element in an unsealed management pack, such as an override, cannot reference an element in a different unsealed management pack, such as a group. If you are going to use a group
to limit the application of an override, you must either save the group to the same unsealed management pack as the override, or you must seal the management pack that contains the group.
For a specific object of class:
    Class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to the specified object. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all other objects in the targeted class.
For all objects of another class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to objects of a class other than the targeted class. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all objects in the targeted class.
Did you try to override it for a specific object of class?

  • SCOM 2012 UR2 - Flush health service state causes infinite agent resets

Appearing on several of our 2008R2 servers from our SCOM 2012 UR2 environment, set up with several management servers:
If I select a monitored servers agent in the Operator Console and click the task
Flush health service state and cache, the selected agent will restart as intended.
However, it will restart again every 2-3 minutes forever ever after, unless  you stop the agent service and delete the health service cache folder on the monitored server.
This is visible via the eventlog:
event 103, Healthservice. A task to reset the health service store has been submitted.  The service store will be deleted and re-created.
This was never the case with our SCOM2007R2 setup and started appearing with 2012.
Have anyone seen this before? Any ideas?
    Regards / Jon

    Might save someone some time....
Stopping the agent, removing the "Health Service State" directory + restarting doesn't appear to help.  I did this *and* deleted some agents from the console (then re-added them.  We turned auto approve off)  and it appears
it might have fixed it.  I'll know more in the morning if this actually does the trick besides doing a full uninstall/reinstall of the agent.
If you don't know what agents are constantly restarting, search all management servers for *many* file transfers (Event ID 2110 in Ops manager event log) all to the same Instance/GUID. Execute this powershell on a managemnt server: "get-SCOMClassInstance
-Id <GUID>" to get the affected agent. Alternatively, make a SCOM rule to catch event 103 and look for many repeats from the same server/agent:
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: HealthService
    Event Category: Health Service
    Event ID: 103
    Description:
A task to reset the health service store has been submitted.  The service store will be deleted and re-created.

  • VirtualDisk on Windows Server 2012 R2 Storage Pool stuck in "Warning: In Service" state and all file transfers to and from is awfully slow

    Greetings,
I'm having some trouble with my Windows Storage Pool and my VirtualDisk running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 installation. It consists of 8x Western Digital RE-4 2TB drives + 2x Western Digital Black Edition 2TB drives and have been configured in a single-disk
parity setup and the virtual disk is running fixed provisioning (max size) and is formatted with ReFS.
It's been running solid for months besides some awful write-speeds at times, it seems like the write performance running ReFS compared to NTFS is not that good.
I was recommended to add SSD's for journalling in order to boost write-performance. Sadly I seemed to screw up this part, you need to due this through PowerShell and it needs to be done before creating the virtualdisk. I managed to add my SSD to the Storage
    Pool and then remove it.
This seem to have caused some awkward issues, I'm not quite sure of why as the virtualdisk is "fixed" so adding the SSD to the Storage Pool shouldn't really do anything, right? But after I did this my virtual disk have been stuck in "Warning:
In Service" and it seems to be stuck? It's been 4-5 days and it's still the same and the performance is currently horrible. Moving 40GB of data off the virtual disk took me about 20 hours or so. Launching files under 1mb of the virtual disk takes several
minutes etc.. It's pretty much useless.
The GUI is not providing any useful information about what's going on. What does "Warning: In Service" actually imply? How am I supposed to know how long this is supposed to take? Running Get-Virtualdisk in PowerShell does not provide any useful
information either. I did try to do a repair through the Server Manager GUI but it goes to about 21% within 2-3 hours but drops back down to 10%. I have had the repair running for days but it wont go past 21% without dropping back down again.
Running repair through PowerShell yields the same results, but if I detach the virtual disk and then try to repair through PowerShell (the GUI wont let me do repair on detached virtual disks) it will just run for a split second and then close.
After doing some "Googeling" I've seen people mentioning that the repair is not able to finish unless I have at least the same amount of free space in the Storage Pool as the largest drive in my Storage Pool is housing so I added a 4TB drive as
due to me running fixed provisioning I had used all the space in the pool but the repair is still not able to go past 21%.
As am running "fixed provisioning" I guess adding a extra drive to the pool doesn't do much difference as it's not available for the virtual disk? So I went ahead and deleted 3 TB of data on the virtual disk so now I've got about 4 TB free space
on the virtual disk so there should be plenty of room for Windows Server 2012 R2 to re-build the parity or whatever it's trying to do but it's still the same, the repair wont move past 21% and the virtual disk is still stuck in "Warning: In Service"
mode and the performance keeps being horrible so taking a backup will take forever at these speeds...
Am I missing something here? All the drives in the pool is working fine. I have verified using various bootable tools so why is this happening and what can I do to get the virtual disk running at full state again? Why doesn't the GUI prompt you with any
    kind of usable information?
    Best regards, Thomas Andre

    Hi,
Please run chkdsk /f /r command on the virtual disk to have a try. In the meantime, run the following commands in PowerShell to share the output.
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> | get-physicaldisk | fl
    get-virtualdisk -friendlyname <name> |fl
    Best Regards,
    Mandy

  • UFW service state

    Hi,
When I check the state of the UFW service on my system it says "active (exited)".
Even though there's a green indication I find this strange: a firewall should be running continuously on the background instead of just being executed at startup.
Is this correct behaviour and if so, can you explain this to me?
    Thanks in advance!
This is the full output of "systemctl status ufw":

  • Web Services, State, and SFSB

    Hi all,
I have a stateless session bean that I am exposing as a web service via the @WebService @Stateless annotations. The client is a C# client that connects to the web service and that all works hunky-dory.
What I would really like, though, is to use the web service as a facade for some stateful session beans so that i can have a "conversation" with my C# client. That way I can store login information and some other useful things. Is this possible? Can I have a stateful web service?
    Thanks,
    Phil.

    Hi Phil,
Unfortunately, there is no portable way to define stateful web service endpoints in Java EE 5. It's a
feature being considered for EE 6. The JAX-WS implementation in Glassfish/SJS AS has a couple
ways to achieve statefulness, but they require that you use that specific JAX-WS implementation for
the client instead of C#, which defeats some of the loose coupling benefits of web services.

  • Database connection Web Service state

If a Web Service conntects to a database, when should I connect and when should I disconnect? I want to hold the same connection during multiple Web service calls. I use JWSDP 1.0.

Have your service implementation class implement javax.xml.rpc.server.ServiceLifecycle. Create the connection in the init() method and close it in the destroy() method.

  • Checking Essbase service state

    Hi,
Sometimes happens that you can not start any Essbase app which normally starts.
The reason could be there is orphaned Essbase process :) and to run app you must kill this process.
I would like to automate this process for administrator task.
Have you got or know any tool or script which could help with automate this kind of task?
...and I would like to ask about another products e.g. Shared Services, Financial Reporting, Planning which are deployed on Tomcat - these services sometimes hang, you could see that service is working but the only way to work with product is restart service?
    pscol

Well if we are going to spoon feed:
    #!/bin/ksh
    PID = `ps -ef | grep -i ESSBASE | grep -v grep`
#Kill with HUP to that ESSBASE can try to shutdown all the children apps
    kill -13 ${PID}
    sleep 600
    PID = `ps -ef | grep -i ESSBASE | grep -v grep`
    #If pid still exists
    if [[ ! -z ${PID} ]]; then
    kill -9 ${PID}
    fi
#You will need to figure out which column the PID is in and adjust the cut command appropriately.
    ESSPIDS=`ps -ef | grep -i ESSSR | grep -v grep | cut -c1-5`
    kill -9 ${ESSPIDS}
Feel free to reach out -- I should build up a Linux VM which would be close to AIX.

  • BSOD when Ipod Service goes to running / started state

    All,
I have had somewhat random BSOD's on my laptop and after reviewing the event log, I see these two events preceding the BSOD:
    **1
The iPod Service service entered the running state.
    **2
The iPod Service service was successfully sent a start control.
The BSOD usually occurs when I try to telnet to another server from my laptop while tunneled into my work environment (using a Cisco IPSec VPN).
I find it highly coincidental that this service state changes within seconds of every BSOD.
I have been unsuccessful in reproducing this error consistently- my guess is some kind of race condition exists so it only occurs under specific circumstances
Has anyone else seen similar behavior? I have uninstalled Itunes from my laptop for the time being and will see if the error persists. Long term, I would like to use Itunes (&& sync my Ipod) on this machine.

I installed iTunes in April and within a couple of days began getting crashes of my computer about 2 days of every 5. Interestingly, they pretty much all happened at around 6:46 a.m. - the computer would just shut off. Not restart, simply stop. Silence.
After much trial and error, this seems to be caused by the Ipod Service. If I manually stop the service after running iTunes, the system no longer crashes. (It's now been six days without a crash.) This looks to be the culprit...probably a conflict related to a scheduled update or to some other service that runs at that time of the day.
I'm running Windows XP with all patches and service packs.

  • Service Publication from PI Repository vs Directory vs SOAMANAGER

    Hi
I have question on the service publication states when it is published from ECC and PI
Let say we have a scenario where we need to call a Server Proxy via PI.
When I publish the service from PI Repository(inbound service interface), it is registered in SR as
    Service State - Modeled
    System - <PI SID>_ESROn<Host>
No Endpoint in this case, since it is not configured.
I implement the server proxy in ECC and configure endpoint publish it through SOAMANAGER , It is registered separately
    in SR as
    Service State - Configured
    System - <ECC SID>On<Host>
But this is not via PI mediated and also publication system is different.
Now I am confused, the same service, when I published from PI-ESR, it is "Modeled" with PI system name.
When I Publish it from ECC, It creates separate entry with state configured(if I define endpoint for it)
Why there is an option/need to publish Service from PI Repository at all, when it remains in the model state?
    Another question:
There is an option to publish the service from PI Directory too. It is available from Sender Agreement(for the Outbound
Service Interface for the same Proxy). When I do it from here.. It makes another entry in service registry
Now state is configured But the Service name is not what I published from PI-ESR.
I published the inbound Service i/f from ESR. The service I publish from PI Directory is Outbound SI
So If I need to use PI mediated publication it will always be Sender Agreement (Outbound interface) with SOAP adapter,
    right???????
Again I don't see any point publishing Inbound Interface from ESR. coz I can not configure it.
Can you explain me how PI publications(from ESR or Directory) affects the SR entry?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
First you need to understand role of SR, it is just yellowpage to locate service it is nothing to do with actual implementation or runtime of service.
If you notice provider system is part of key in SR so same service with same name you can publish from 'n' systems.
SR is also manage or support lifecycle stage of service so you can see different state like "Modeled" etc.
    >Why there is an option/need to publish Service from PI Repository at all, when it remains in the model state?
It is not often used but it is required when you want to share your metadata with different implenting tools like java or .net they can locate service from SR and do the implementation in their respective technologies. You can even publish service in SR by providing url of wsdl in SR.
    >Now state is configured But the Service name is not what I published from PI-ESR
making service out of sender agreement is old feature of PI (since 3.0), sender agreement behave like webservice and any external application call it via SOAP and then it trigger message execution in PI, so it look like following:
consumer appl -> Sender agreement (trigger->PI messaging [receiver determination+transformation etc])
    >Again I don't see any point publishing Inbound Interface from ESR. coz I can not configure it.
You are missing point here, it is NOT mandatory to publish service at all but it is option given so that modeling of serivce is always segrated from implementation and publish is required not for consumption of service but to extract meadata as well i.e. if have team of java developer who want to develop webservice which is configured in ESR then they have 2 option, either locate service in SR or connect/download wsdl from ESR directly (connection with ESR is easy as both toolinmg developed by SAP) but same is not true for any other webservice development tool and they will prefer to extract metadata from SR.
I hope this clarify your doubts.

    Gourav

  • Issue with services being published in SR

    Hi Experts,
We have an issue with services being published in SR
    1.       Service is created and published from ECC to Service registry
    2.       End points are created in Soa manager
But the service state is shown as u2018Modelledu2019 instead of u2018Configured u2019 in SR
    Thanks,
    Sowmya.

    Hi Sowmya,
If you want it to appear in the SR as 'Configured', change your procedure to as follows:
    - Create Service in ECC
    - Configure endpoints in SOAMANAGER
    - Then Publish Endpoint binding URL (as it appears in SOAMANAGER) in SR. You can do this Publishing in SOAMANAGER as well. The idea to configure the endpoint before publishing to get the 'Configured' state.

  • Virtualization service status - unknow system center 2008

    hi .
    i installed system center 2008 on a 2012 server ,
i created several machines on it and they are working fine ... the problem is i cannot do any action like clone or create check points or migrations from system center ..
beside every vm there is a message host is not responding and in the properties of the hyper v host error virtualization service status - unknow  but all other options are checked ok
i ve 2 network cards on the host server one is used for the virtual machines and the other is for the local network
all machines are assigned to that virtual network card
please advice on solving this issue

Of the 18 or so machines, most have not been frequent repeat offenders (popping up only every few days) but there are a few that have been somewhat daily offenders. I have removed the client, rebooted, reinstalled the client manually on the heavy offenders
and this has not corrected the issue.
When I RDP to the machine and try to stop the System Center Management service it take awhile (30+ seconds) and then I get an error stating:
Windows could not stop the System Center Management service on local computer. Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
The when I click OK the service is stopped and I then start it. If I stop it again it takes like 5 seconds and does not give any error.
From looking at the Operations Manager event viewer I have multiples of:
A scheduled discovery task was not started because the previous task for that discovery was still executing. Event ID 10000
The Windows Event Log Provider monitoring the Application Event Log is 1124 minutes behind in processing events.
This can occur when the provider is restarted after being offline for some time, or there are too many events to be handled by the workflow. Event ID 26017 (note on this one, this occurs right after the nightly reboot) --- I flushed the Health Service
State and Cache, still get the System Center Management service to stop responding within an hour and a heartbeat failure on SCOM.
    No firewall.
AV (Symantec Endpoint Protection)  is clear with the same setting as all the servers.
These servers that keep having the issues do have citrix loaded but again, nothing has changed on the client (servers) side from SCOM 2007 to SCOM 2012 and we never got these in 2007, just 2012.
As for the “ServicesPipeTimeout” I could not locate a key in the registry with that value.

  • "Reporting services" service does not start automatically

I have installed reporting services from SQL Express SP1 package. OS is Windows 2000 SP4. Just after installation "Reporting services" service has StartMode=Automatic and LogOnAS=LocalSystem as shown in SQL Server Configuration Manager. When system is rebooted reporting services state is Stopped and there is 2 errors in System log:
    1. Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the SQL Server Reporting Services (REPS) service to connect.
    2. The SQL Server Reporting Services (REPS) service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
If i select "start" from service's context menu then it starting normally and it's state becomes Running.
