Service type redirect and ASR

Hello,
I am thinking that there is no use setting ASR with services of type redirect (and the corresponding content rules)because the CSS do not need to keep sessions for services of type redirect. Is that ture? Any other suggestions?
CT Yau

that's correct.
The redirect message is sent with a RESET, so the connection is closed as soon as it hits the CSS.
No need for ASR on redirect service.

• Service type redirect with long url

Hello,
I need to configure a content rule on CSS11501 with redirect services. However, I need to redirect to url's like this:
https://www.domain.com:4445/path1/path2/path3/path4/index.pl?username=USER&env=UAT&lang=ENG
Then I found that the redirect url cannot be longer than 64-byte.
How can I get this done? I cannot use the domain command or prepend-http command because I am redirecting to https. I think I must include the whole url including the "https://" part in the redirect string.
Moreover, is there anything the CSS can help with the attribute-value pairs in the URL?

Here is a link to sample configs for the different ways to config redirect.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps789/products_configuration_example09186a00801de8d6.shtml
I think you need 'no prepend-http' and a redirect-string.
However, I also believe the url size is limited to 256 characters.
Give it a try so, as I'm not sure at 100% and have no devices to check right now.

• Service-Type and 12.3 at AS5350

Hi!
After migrating from 12.2(XB15) to 12.3.13 Service-Type changed from Voice to Login in acct/auth requests in the TCL IVR script. This behaviour destroy my billing system.
I can't change billing system, and only can add second RADIUS for proxy/rewrite Service-Type. But this is not so good for me.
Please, help me solve this problem.
I can add additional info upon request.
thanks.

Cisco as always are full of suprises (most of them - unpleasant).
Go to config mode and then:
radius attribute 6
(6 is the service type). Try to change the value of Service-Type.
And as a last chance, I think you could manipulate the radius "variables" in the TCL script.

• Tcp redirect and https response verification

Can CSS redirect ip based tcp traffic (in addition to http/https ) to a remote server when the local server is down (active/standby) - there is no DNS involed in the process?
Can CSS (with SCA) check the https return string to determin the server status?
Thanks.

A service created with 'type redirect' and the 'redirect-string' might help you. If you apply this service to a Layer 5 rule the CSS will only send traffic to that service if all other local-services are down, assuming you have added more than 1 service to the content rule..
The CSS should be able to dns resolve inorder to have the redirected traffic hits the destination sorry server.

• Critical service type "ssl-accel" (not documented)

I only found the documentation for critical services "scripted, redundancy uplink and local" in the advanced admin guide Rel 7.2
--snip-->
scripted - the priority changes to 0 when one service in the scripted group goes down.
redundancy uplink - the priority changes to 0 when all of the services in the uplink group go down.
local - the priority changes to 0 when all of the services in the local group go down. Local services include all services other than scripted and uplink.
<--snap---
Now I configured a critical service of type "ssl-accel".
This one looks like working, as a local service.
Is this service type supported and somewhere documentated ?
the service looks like:
service ssl_modul1
type ssl-accel
keepalive type none
slot 3
add ssl-proxy-list proxy-list-1
Critical-Services:
ssl_modul1 State: active Type: Ssl-Accel

1. you are correct, I use the service ssl_modul1 as a normal SSL Service
2. Now if the ssl module fail, I´ll failover to the Backup CSS.
3. My question is: could I use the service "ssl_modul1" of type ssl-accel as critical service and configure this on my circuit.
In the documentation, you only find critical services of type "local, scripted and redundancy-uplink".
I tried to configure it and it looks like the critical service of type "ssl-accel" works like a critical service of type local, but I am not sure, if this supported by cisco.

• Service type of redirect.

Hi, I'm being requested to setup the following with service type of redirect.
!**************************** DQL
dql xxxxxxx
domain x.x.x.x
domain x.x.x.x
!*************************** OWNER
content xxxxxxxx
protocol tcp
vip address x.x.x.x
balance weightedrr
vip-ping-response local-remote
advanced-balance sticky-srcip
redirect "please wait while you are redirected to xxxxxxxx"
port 80
url "/*" dql xxxxxxx
add service xxxxxxx1
add service xxxxxxx2 weight 5

!************************** SERVICE

type redirect
redirect-string "x.x.x.x:50100/irj"

keepalive port 50100
keepalive uri "/index.html"
port 50100
redirect-string "x.x.x.x:50100/irj"
type redirect
active
My question is this,
Since all services are of type redirect,
1. advanced balance never comes into play?
2. Service ip address is only required only for the keepalive?
3. The clients will never have the full benifit of the CSS since they are being redirected? I.E. failover of services?
Is there any other benifits that they will not receive because of the service type of redirect?
Thx.

1. advanced-balance does not care about the service type. So it should work.
2. yes, it will be used only for keepalive.
3. there will still be loadbalancing and upon server failover, the client should come back to the vip address and it will be redirected to the next available server. So, there is still a benefit when using such a solution.

• How the freight cost are transferred from condition type of shipment cost document to service entry sheet and collected in service PO item

Dear Experts:
could you please share with me the knowledge for below topic:
How the freight cost are transferred from condition type of shipment cost document to service entry sheet and collected in service PO item, because these three objects use three different pricing procedures, and different condition type.
how did the condition type of service entry sheet know to copy the value of whcih condition type in the pricing procedure of shipment cost document?
Is this SAP standard function OR there need an enhancement to do that?
I didn’t find related condition value copy setting in background, could you please share related setting with me? Thank you very much for your kind help!
Best regards,
Andy

Hi, Gopi,
Glad to see your feedback, but i still have question on your feedback:
which condition type in the pricing procedure of service entry sheet should know to capture the net value of shipment cost doc? becasue there are so many condition types,
And i have checked the corresponding condition type (PRSX) of service entry sheet pricing procedure in my SAP system, this is a self-defined condition type, but NO any calculation routine maintained for the condition type (PRSX), how did the condition type (PRSX) know to copy the total cost of shipment cost document?
Below is the example and another question:
what the relationship between the pricing procedures at service PO item level and service line item level?
1. The freight cost in shipment cost document—including used condition type and pricing procedure
The pricing procedure of shipment cost document
2. The freight cost in service entry sheet—including used condition type and pricing procedure
The pricing procedure of service entry sheet--the pricing procedure at service line item level
3. The freight cost in service PO item—including used condition type and pricing procedure:

• ACS 5.3 - 11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access

I have some older devices on the network that only support RADIUS (not TACACS) for authentication and would like to have them use SecureACS 5.3
I understand that by default, ACS only supports TACACS for device administration. So I'll get this error when trying RADIUS:
11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access
Description:
RADIUS requests can only be processed by Access Services that are of type Network Access
Resolution Text:
Verify that the Service Selection Policy rules are correct
However, even after adjusting the Service Selection rules and seeing hits, I still see the same message in the logs, as if it has no affect. Any Ideas?

If you use the protocol as radius you can not use a device admin service. You can only use network access. That will allow you for authentication to the devices.

• Generating Accruals from Service type Goods Receipt PO's

I have identified that Service type Goods Receipt PO's do not write to the G/L, but a.) I don't understand why they don't and b.) how does one create system generated accruals if not by Goods Receipt PO? I am sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find the thread.
Thanks in advance,
Donald

Invoices create an actual expense. Accrual expenses are normally captured as a result of work performed or items received but not invoiced. Once again, I understand what SAP Business One does in this scenario. I am being asked why and for that I don't have an answer. It doesn't seem to be in conflict with GAAP, so I am not sure why they don't allow G/L Account determination for Service Documents to Accrual accounts. It is a similar problem on the AR side, SAP B1 doesn't support money received, but not recognized to the liabilites bucket without manual intervention.
Thanks again,

Hi PeteA,
Sorry, here it is...
Let me explain the process that has been followed:
1) Initially to start with Service Notification was created with IW51 T-code.
In that, Sold to party and material # were entered. Then from there directly i go for Create Repair Order from the Action Box.
Order type for repair order - RAS, and when i save both Service Notification and the Repair gets saved.
Now, in the repair order, two line items were getting created automatically and the requirement Types for those line items are:
Line Item I : SE
Line Item II: SERP
2) After that i take the material in with the help of t-code VRRE.
3) Then, i do the acceptance of the stock ( Technical Check) with t-code QA11.
Once i do that, i get the Third line item in the Repair Order and the requirement Type for that line item is:
Line Item III: SERP
Now my query is, Once i do the QA11 transaction i need to get a Service Order automatically but thats not happening.
Also if i create a Service Order manually, and do the repair and do the technically completion of the service order, then i need to get a third line item (IRAL) in the repair order automatically and thats also not happening.

• Re: Service Object events and LockMgr

On the option that you have considered, I have implemented the same model
in my previous project (using Java/RMI), but I felt that it is more than
what is normally needed for concurrency protection.
I can suggest another option that is worth considering which is in place in
our app for concurrency.
Almost every table in our db has created By, created On, modifed By,
modified On columns. The parent class of all business objects has
attributes that correspond to these four columns. In addition to these
four, there is a fifth attribute (introduced when concurrency was built)
called originalModifiedOn. Upon retrieval from the db, it is set to
modifiedOn value (from the db), during UPDATE, the value in this column is
added part of the WHERE clause. So when the second user tried to do save
the same object, the underlying db update will get a 'zero rows updated'
which is translated into an application error 'possible concurrency
error'. The user re-retreives the now 'stale' object before applying their
edits.
A lot of these things are and can be built into the framework imposing very
little work that each Object needs to do to have concurrency protection.
I am not sure if there is a mention in the Patterns paper of this model,
but it is very easy to implement and supports what is needed.

Subject: Service Object events and LockMgr
Hi folks,
We're currently looking at strategies for dealing with the simultaneous
updates to the database from multiple clients (concurrency
management). That is when two (or more) clients load the same object to
edit it, then make different changes and save them to the database.
We have a copy of a Forté document (from the "Patterns" course, I
think) which describes three methods of dealing with this:
1) Lock the database table row as soon as a client select it for editing
and hold the lock until it is saved.
2) Immediately before 'saving' check that the database hasn't changed
(either by reading what's there before updating, or by using a huge
'where' clause that contains all unchanged fields)
3) The Forté "LockMgr" pattern, which uses a service object with notifier
proxies to allow locking and updating notification between the clients.
Option 3 is obviously the most robust method, but it requires a fair
amount of coding and could also be a bottleneck for database reads and
writes.
But I have another option for which I was looking for opinions. What if
we had a "Change Event manager" which broadcast an event every time
a change is made to the database. Each business class would have its
own event. If the event had the object's primary key as a parameter, then
clients editing that particular object type could check to see if the object
currently on screen is the one that changed. That way you could disable
the 'save' until they had refreshed their on-screen data.
It's not particularily elegant, but it's reasonably simple to implement. It
also deals with changes sent across our WAN from other database
servers.
But this option is only worthwhile if you can replicate the "Change Event
manager" SO and still register for an event on the client. Can clients
register for SO events and receive an event generated by any of the SO's
replicates? Or when you register for an SO's event do you register for
only one instance of the SO?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
