Servicing an 'n' MBP with AirExtreme and two PC's with AirExpress

I want to buy a Time Capsule and set it up using the "n"-only 5Ghz wide band feature so that I can get the best wireless upload speeds possible from my MacBook Pro. However, I also need the network to provide Internet access for two "g" PC's. On top of that I want to connect a PS3 to the internet. I spoke to a Mac Genius yesterday about this and he said that the only way to do this is to buy a gigabit switch and place that between the modem and the AirportExtreme (Time Capsule actually), the Airport Express, and the PS3. Then set up two different networks for the AExt and the AExp.
My questions are:
- is this the only and/or best way of doing this?
- do I really need a gigabit switch or will a slower one do what I want? Gigabit switches seem to be quite a bit more expensive.
- what would be a good gigabit switch to buy? I'm seeing all different kinds and brands out there and I am finding it a little confusing as to knowing which one(s) is going to work for what I want to do.

Yes. That may be where the Mac Genius misunderstood me. My diagram of what I wanted to do didn't indicate that the TC and AExp were connected via an Ethernet cable rather than wireless. Thanks for you help. So, if I could recap what I want to do...
modem -> ethernet cable -> Time Capsule running at 802.11n only (with "use wide band" on) -> wirelessly servicing -> MacBook Pro 802.11n machine
Time Capsule -> ethernet cable -> Airport Express running at 802.11g -> wirelessly servicing two PC's, (and apparently my just purchased PS3 - is this right!?) using 802.11g

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Careless? Possible, but unlikely. Most likely the phone was stolen from the first owner. It would be a VERY careless iPhone owner who did not erase their personal information from a phone before selling it, and to do that it is necessary to disable Activation Lock. In most places in the world knowingly using stolen property is a crime, so the fact that the phone doesn't work may be the least of one's risks.

Grid filtering with textInput and TWO comboboxes...

I am trying to combine some code based on Ben Forta's example
and another I found on cflex.net. The idea is to have a text
"as-you-type" search on a Grid, and also be filtered by not one,
but two comboboxes, each pertaining to different columns of the
grid. The code below works, but it is only 1 combobox and a
textInput. How can I add the second combobox?
Each piece of code works find on its own, but I'm just having
trouble putting them all together. The second combobox's code is in

The rest of the application is like this: the grid is
dgObjectList with dataProvider objectList. (ArrayCollection) It has
objName, typeName, and courseName for columns. It is filtered via
an inputText (for objName), and two comboBoxes cbTypeList and
cbCourseList (for typeName and courseName). All three have

The resultHandler for the grid's data has:

And finally, here's the filter I have so far...any thoughts

MBP runs slow and shows garbled video with KCG errors, Why?

My 10 month old MacBook Pro runs slow, shows garbled video and is flooded with KCG error messages. I had this problem so i got it fixed by apple. They replaced my Logic Board and it is still happening less than a week from the date that it was fixed. why is this happening, and how can i stop it?

Call the Apple store asap. Let them know what is going on, and make an appointment with the genius. Make sure it gets taken care of before your 1 year warranty runs out in 2 months (unless you have AppleCare). If this issue was happening and was "fixed", obviously it wasn't and Apple needs to take care of this.

Trouble with anchor and reference attributes combined with a Correlation ID

Greetings, I'm a little green on FIM and looking for some advice.
We have an HR system where we store the information on Contractors, Interns, and Employees.
The business process for converting Contractors and Interns to Employees is to terminate the Contractor and re-hire as an Employee. This gives us a different employee number for the "live" entry in the HR system.
Also, there is a "Supervisor No" attribute that is a Reference attribute for their manager. This is their employee number.
What do I do in FIM? If the Employee number is the anchor, won't the system consider the employee a new object? Is there a way to connect the new employee record to the metaverse object that was a contractor or intern, and update the anchor attribute (the
new employee number)?
I was thinking of using a different custom field in the HR system as the FIM_Sync. But just realized that if this became the anchor, then no managers would connect since the Supervisor No is an Employee number.

I read some of the articles on Correlation ID that are in the 2003 version of MIIS the TechNet library. So a follow up question would be what happens between the CS and MV when the HR object changes.. Assuming I have this FIM_Sync attribute to be my
Correlation ID.
Contractor is created. Employee ID is anchor and FIM_Sync field is populated.
New object in CS
Projected into MV
Provisioned out to AD and other systems, but they don't have the FIM_Sync attribute in their schema.
Business Event.. Contactor converted to Employee:
Contractor in HR system terminated (employment_state) and FIM_Sync entry removed.
Employee record created in HR system and FIM_Sync value populated with what it was in the contractor record
New Employee object in CS
Does Contractor get disconnected?
Does the Employee CS object get joined to existing MV object?

At one of my previous projects we solved the same scenario as following:
1. That was not a fully automatic process.
2. Once we receive event that Contractor is terminated in HR, we put that user in "Terminated Contractors" set, disabling his active accounts, where the object resides for 30 days (business policy) before his accounts are removed from target systems.
3. There's a custom workflow which triggers a notification to administrators if the following criteria are met:
Name/Surname of fresh Employee are equal to one of the members of "Terminated Contractors" set
Employee record from HR came within a week after Contractor's termination date (also, a business policy, agreed at customer's level. HRs are lazy and not necessarily process that transfer same day).
4. IAM Administrator contacts HR to ensure that persons in question are actually the same one. Upon confirmation, manual join is made. Once object is joined, Correlation ID is written back to HR (actually, a buffer database acting as HR source) to ensure
that the join can be made automatically.
We faced several problems, though, which are beyond the scope of FIM itself:
1. HRs were creating Employee record before terminating Contractor's one. A major pain, since new accounts are created, et cetera.
2. HRs were creating Employee records too late (that's why we set a "timeout" for a week, initially it was two days)
3. We had a case once when Contractor was terminated and new Employee came with the same name, but those were different people and HR application doesnt allow to differentiate "contractor fired" and "contractor moves to employee" events. That's why we had
to stick to a manual and documented procedure.

4s Hotspot tethering only works with USB and BT but not with wifi

Hi,
XP sp3 - iPhone 4s with ios 5.0.1 - on Three one plan
Tethering with wifi works to a friends Samsung phone, wifi on the pc confirmed working with the apple store wifi, tethering with USB and BT works with good connection speeds on my laptop but when i try to tether with wifi it connects to the laptop at 54mbps and all appears well, even claims to have received a small amount of data packets, but no data comes to any browser. The iPhone reports 1 connection to the hotspot and stays connected with a non-pulsing blue bar after the first minute.

I've deleted my firewall (zone alarm) completely and turned off windows firewall to go naked surfing for a second even though they don't cause a problem with USB tethering, makes no difference
I've deleted the network connection numerous times

turned off the wireless with a hardware switch and on again
disabled bluetooth
rebooted many times
reinstalled itunes (latest)
loads more things i can't remember
This is causing me a nightmare. I've been through everything i can find online, been to the Apple store genius bar (genius appeared to have sub zero knowledge / interest as it involved a MS machine), been to a Three shop (legally not allowed to touch my PC apparently) and been to a Sony shop (laptop make, not their fault if my iphone doesn't work). All very frustrating.
Please help if you can! Any suggestion will be tried unless it involves sledge hammers or lakes, and only then for a few more days at most.

Turned off bluetooth on phone, turned off hotspot and on again, phone asked if i wanted to turn on bluetooth or go with USB and wifi only, said usb/wifi only. Still nothing. Rebooted PC and iphone. Turned on hotspot, pc seemlessly connects to network, still no data comes.
One odd thing is zone alarm asks me to "select a security zone for the wireless network at ip address: *******.0" every time and doesn't seem to remember the setting over sessions. When i get the status of the connection the ip address is *****.2 and default gateway is same ********.1 Not sure if that's anything.
Also getting a javascript error about an undefinded component (trustcheckermozilla) since i updated zonealarm but as i said even completely uninstalling zonealarm made no difference. I'll update firefox as well but tried with IE and still no data.

Since installing Mac Mavericks all my friends with Macs and I have problems with the cursor disappearing, only in Firefox, Safari is fine...

I have stopped using Firefox as nothing I have done has fixed this problem. I have tried shutting down Firefox and rebooting it, I cleared all my add-ons and then added adblock back (that's the only one) but it still doesn't work. I've deleted large files so that I have more space - I can't think of anything else that will work. I have spoken to four of my friends with Macs and they are all having the same problem with Firefox since Mavericks.

Hi thanks very much for your reply. I did a few things like delete my add-ons and I don't have the problem of the disappearing cursor (sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story) any more but it seems to have been a mac issue as there were many complaints on the Apple forums of the cursor disappearing since the Mavericks OS and not just in Firefox but in multiple programs. Looks like they've fixed it somehow!

I upgraded to Windows 10, and the touchpad settings default to enable reverse scrolling direction with the two-finger scrolling. I disabled that, and it works all right.. But when I restart my computer, the change isn't saved and I have to do it all over again Is there any way to get the system to recognize the change to the settings after rebooting? I would think it would be simple, but even creating a separate profile doesn't work.

Instrument objects - change one and two others change with it

very confusing behavior within the LE arrange window: in song composition, Im ladying down from top to bottom various instrument only tracks.
Because by default (my copy of ) LE had 8 Audio and 8 Instrument objects, Ive had to by necessity move these around.
Now Im noticing if I change the topmost instrument object, Logic change one/two/three or other instrument objects along with it ? It must think they are the same, however, Ive got them mapped to play different sounds on the EXSP 24 (do I need a new iteration of this object for each different sound ?)

Your suggestion worked. I had tried deleting the artwork just from the albums involved and found one track, on one of the compilation albums, was still showing artwork on the ipod, but not itunes library. Deleting all the artwork off the ipod, adding it back onto the itunes library and then syncing the ipod worked.

[SOLVED] Problem with Networkmanager and two WiFi cards

I have two WiFi cards, one onboard my laptop, one USB. I use the USB one since gets a stronger signal, but the other one tries to connect.
Is there a way of stoping that.
I don't want to cancel the possibility of using it, just when I plug the USB antenna.
