Servlet as java bean

i have written my jdbc connectivity code in a servlet..n want to use it as a bean can i use it as a bean plz help me out.

I have a feeling you're going to be out of luck there. They are somewhat different beasts.
If you mean a bean for access from a JSP? Write one, and (dare I say it) copy/paste your db access "codes". Or use the standard taglib JSTL, it has data access stuff for you.
Later, of course, you'll come back and say to me "the performance of this bean in my jsp sucks"...
...so my real recommendation is: read the documentation and be clear about the difference between a servlet and a bean... (which I would imagine, of course, is just the advice you don't want to hear).

User parameter are not show in database using Servlet and java Bean

Ok, this seems to be a long and convoluted path to do absolutely nothing.
You submit the form.
You run a servlet that gets the parameters correctly (good), creates a SimpleBean (good) and then sets this into request attribute space under the names "user" and "pass" - (why?)
You then forward to the jsp: submit.jsp.
Submit.jsp creates a new SimpleBean, and attempts to populate it with <jsp:setProperty>. You then call the issueData method on it.
Your complaint: Rows are being created in the database which have empty string values instead of the parameters you have passed.
So, why are the values blank? Where do you think these values should be coming from?
Looking at SimpleBean we find one mistake - you have mis-named your get/set methods.
To properly follow java beans standards, you should use camel-case for your methods.
Rather than getuserName() the method should be getUserName(). getpassword() should be getPassword() etc etc.
The method getUserName() defines a property "userName" for the bean.
Once that is fixed, lets go to submit.jsp. The <jsp:setProperty> statement will try and set all properties of the bean from the request parameters.
There are no request parameters "userName" or "password" so those values don't get set in the bean, therefore it uses their default value of empty string - "".
There ARE request parameters called "user" and "pass" but because they aren't properties of the bean, they get ignored.
As a result, the values are empty string, and that is exactly what gets inserted into the database.
Ways to fix this
1 - rename your parameters on your form to be "userName" and "password" to match the bean. That way the <jsp:setProperty> tag will populate them properly.
or
2 - Call issueData() method from your servlet after you have created the SimpleBean. Better in my opinion as you then don't have any scriptlet code on a JSP page.

EJB or java bean

I have a j2ee application :
- a servlet
- a java bean which access and manipulate oracle database
- JSPs which display results
I would like to know what is the difference between a java bean and an entreprise java bean (EJB) and which is the component more appropriate for my project (an EJB or a java bean) ?
what is better for my project (java bean or an EJB) ? my project is a web application which ask an oracle database and generate an XML file. the user can thanks to this application select the table and the columns he wants and generate an XML file.

If your project is a enterprise level, EJB is preferred, otherwise, java bean is enough.
There is not absolute difference between java bean and EJB. In fact, it's recommended that EJB is called via java bean. There will be too much server side script in the jsp if you call EJB directly in a jsp.

Servlet not finding java bean

I am trying to access a java bean through a servlet..
the bean is defined in the package com.mycomp
when i use this bean using test.jsp it works fine it finds the package com.mycomp.. but when i am using the Servlet it cannot find the package...when i am trying to compile the servlet it says it cannot resolve the symbol class ConnectionBean
it cannot find the package com.mycomp
your help will be appreciatied....

My guess is that the bean is in Tomcat's classpath, but not in your compiler's classpath. Try adding the com.mycomp.* package to your compiler's classpath, and let me know if that helps...

Need Help-How Store the input parameter through java bean

I have a simple Issue but It is not resolve by me i.e input parameter
are not store in Ms-Access.
I store the input parameter through Standard Action <jsp:useBean>.
jsp:useBean call a property IssueData. this property exist in
SimpleBean which create a connection from DB and insert the data.
At run time servlet and server also show that loggging are saved in DB.
But when I open the table in Access. Its empty.
Ms-Access have two fields- User, Password both are text type.

though the database is not int he same folder as the jsp, the DSN is set correctly to pint to the db location.The jsp does print in stdout file:

This means that the jsp does connect to db but it gives the above error.Also the field name also matches that in the database and data is present in the db too.
All other things like creating package for bean,incorporating the packakage are done.

U're getting this error because there is no field called 'password' in ur database, the field in ur database is named 'cpassword' and not 'password'. So change the statement rs.getString("password"); to rs.getString("cpassword");

How to get an XML string from a Java Bean without wrting to a file first ?

I know we can save a Java Bean to an XML file with XMLEncoder and then read it back with XMLDecoder.
But how can I get an XML string of a Java Bean without writing to a file first ?
For instance :
My_Class A_Class = new My_Class("a",1,2,"Z", ...);
String XML_String_Of_The_Class = an XML representation of A_Class ?
Of course I can save it to a file with XMLEncoder, and read it in using XMLDecoder, then delete the file, I wonder if it is possible to skip all that and get the XML string directly ?

<1> Is it possible to send an object to a servlet, if so how ? And at the receiving end how to get it back to an object ?

Javax.servlet.ServletException & java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

I am getting this javax.servlet.ServletException & java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
exceptions while running jsp in .netbeans.
Iwas able to compile and run jsp pgms , but i am getting this error when i use jsp:useBean.I think the java class created is not in the proper path..netbeans is using tomcat server.The ide put the jsp's in the proper path. but it is not putting the java class i created with setter and getter methods.I also set the classpath. but din't work
I t is eating up my time!Pl. suggest me a solution!

I guess the ide is putting all the class files(jsp) in
C:\WINDOWS\.netbeans\3.5\tomcat406_base\work\Tomcat-Internal\localhost\C_3A_5CWINDOWS_5C.netbeans_5C3.5_5Csampledir\JSP
so i copied the userData.class from source dir to the above directory.
and i also did the
set CLASSPATH= C:\WINDOWS\.netbeans\3.5\tomcat406_base\work\Tomcat-Internal\localhost\C_3A_5CWINDOWS_5C.netbeans_5C3.5_5Csampledir\JSP
in dos prompt

Unable to get java bean working

I have been trying to get my iWS6 to run java bean but has not been able to do so. I tried a few beans and I get the same message on the log:

Still my jsp files can't find java beans.
I set classpath properly .
my document directory = c:/raju
i put my jsp file = c:/raju/jsp/<jsp files>
and servlet files = c:/raju/servlet/<servlet class files>
actually jsp files and servlets were working successfully,
if i add my java beans inside my jsp file the it shows error.
inside my jsp file
<%@ page import ="something.myclass" %>
<jsp:useBean id="db" scope="session" class="something.myclass" />
Note: "something" is package name;

Java server page compiler can not find a class defined in a java bean file

I have a jsp file using java bean. The java bean class file is uploaded into the server and also the directory to this java bean .class file is included in the Unix environment CLASSPATH. This .jsp file is registered and should be compiled and excecuted automatically.
WHen I try to invoke this .jsp file, the jsp compiler error, saying the class defined by java bean can not be found. I already include this path in teh CLASSPATH, I thought the jsp compiler will go to the right place according to CLASSPATH to find the referenced class.
Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong or what should I do in order to allow jsp compiler to find the class refrenced by .jsp file and defined by java bean file?

i am also facing the same problem of not finding bean class files for both jsp and servlet though it is placed in same package. the problem of not finding bean class file for jsp is experienced in Tomcat server only whereas in Blazix, there is no such error and the file is compiled and runs successfully.
i have checked Tomcat properly. there is no error in its configuration also servlets without the use of bean files run successfully. so please can anybody guide me about what is the problem and how to solve it. plz its urgent .

The issue is in the naming of your fields.
Change User -> user and Pass->pass
