Servlet won't let go of Database

I have a few servlets that all need to access the same database, sequentially. At the end of each, I have executed the rs.close(), stmt.close(), and con.close(). However, the applications will not let go of the database, and it is unavailable after one "trip" through the servlets. Does this seem like a connection pooling issue, or has anyone else run into this problem?

Ok have you use onnection pool? I think that solves your problem.
also keep your con.commit synchronized. This Connection Pool class instance must be sttic so that you didn't createmany instance of that.
Also use init method of servlet check if instance is valid or not & if not valid then create instance. Connection Pooling classes are available in net. You also get the simplest & clean code of connection pooling from "Java Servlet Programming" - By Jason Hunter O'REILLY PUBLICATION).

  • Take offline and then detach Database. Won't let me attach Database back into SQL Server...

Hi, Read some other posts, but couldn't get it to work. Thanks in advance, Here is the error notice:

Make sure to run SSMS as Admin if you're using SQL Server 2012.
It is indeed the known issue and running SSMS as Admin should solve it.
BTW, this solution I found in www.universalthread.com forum. I re-checked these threads if they contain any supporting links, but no. In any case, that solution helped that person and myself as well.

  • Some web-sites won't let me in, or send me in loops.

I hope this is the correct place to post this question. I have developed a problem with some web-sites that won't let me in. They used to, and I don't really know when the problems started, and it is only some sites. Most are well-behaved, and the same comments apply whether I am using Safari 3 or 4 or Firefox, so it doesn't really seem like a browser problem tome... more a system/set-up problem.
I am currently running OSX 10.5.6 with all the most current updates applied. My machine is a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, with 4GB SDRAM, linked to the web via a Dynamode router, using a wired Ethernet connection. My wife is running a slightly earlier Intel iMac through the same router... I mention this point as the problems I am asking about do not occur with her machine).
The problem is this, and occurs whether I am using Safari 3 or 4 (my 'preferred' browser), or Firefox. Certain web sites let me in so far, and then either throw me around in loops, or just refuse to take any input on certain pages. Particular ones are
www.emusic.com I choose 'Login' on the 'Start Page', which takes me to the 'Enter Login Details' page. I enter my login details and click 'Submit' and am then thrown back to the 'Start Page'.... which then produces and endless loop...
www.which-local.co.uk I enter my login details on the 'Start Page', click "Login" and am thrown back to the 'Start Page' to enter my login details again... this is again an endless loop...
www.royalmail.com I work through the sequence 'Personal Customers'/Sending mail overseas/Airmail/Buy online now/Overseas and weight/Country(Oman)/Airmail Small Packets - Buy and Print/ Enter login details and Login - Print your postage/Complete the address - Continue... and I'm back to the 'Buy Online Now' page.(Although this latter one is a longer sequence, it is very similar to the other two... there are others... one lets me get to a certain page, then will not accept any text entry on the page.)
www.apple.com I log-in with my Apple ID, and get sent to the Set Up Your Account page (which contains a blue link that would let me cancel my account. I quit there, and go back to the log-in page... just can't get in... unless I do what I havedone to enable me to write this query... that is, to restart under Safe Boot... which is a lot of fuss to get into the forums.
With all these sites, if I do a Restart and a Safe Boot (Shift Key) then the problems all disappear. And as I said earlier, the problems do not occur when I use my wife's machine. This implies to me that there is something in my set-up that is causing the problems, and which is disabled in Safe Boot.
Under OS 9 I would then have gone to the control panels and done a binary search with restarts until I had isolated the process that was causing the problem.
I have deleted Intego Firewall, and Intego Virus Barrier. They are the only major items that seem possible culprits, and which have never been installed on my wife's machine (which runs only under the built-in OSX Firewall that is configured exactly as mine is, allowing access for specific services and applications... among them Safari and Firefox), which seems to have no problems. This doesn't seem to have helped - (though they have been involved in other problems in the past, which have then been resolved). I can think of no way that I can identify what is interfering with both browsers in this way. I have both browsers configured to accept cookies, and not to block pop-ups, as each of these has caused problems with other sites in the past!!.
So where do I go from here!!?

It still sounds like there is a problem with cookies being set. Since you were previously running a virus scanner, did it do something with the cookie databases, such as change their permissions? Don't bother with repairing permissions from Disk Utility, it does nothing inside a user account - for that, you would need to use the Reset Password utility from the OS installation disk.

  • ITunes Shopping Cart won't let me delete items.

I have some items in my shopping cart that I need to delete because I've already purchased them. But the problem is that it won't let me delete them and it also says that it is not available in the Canadian Store. If someone knows how to fix this that would be great.

Same problem as well with music videos I added that were originally single purchase items and then the next day became Album Only in my shopping cart (though they really weren't) and now I can't delete them. I've tried several tricks to no avail.
I've called Apple Care twice with no resolution. They keep wanting to send me to iTunes Store support but I don't think the people answering there even know how to use a computer. They refuse to "escalate" the issue even though no one has still provided an answer. All I want is for the iTunes staff to delete my entire shopping cart contents but no.
Obvious something is seriously messed-up with the iTMS database and Apple is covering it up to prevent a huge blow to their Christmas sales. I'm sure the DBAs are working round the clock to fix this with no resolution yet.
In 25 years this is the worst support I've ever had from Apple.

  • IMac won't let me print on both sides using my hp D2400 printer

I just received my iMac and was trying to print on both sides using my hp D2400. But, on the option page, it won't let me choose "Print on both sides". Why? How do I fix it? Thanks!!

From the HP Support site, have you done the following, as you need to:
Install or update the HP software with Apple Software Update
Choose your connection type for steps to install HP software using Apple Software Update.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03404580&lc=en #N187
    USB connection
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click Software Update . Software Update checks for available updates and updates the database that your Mac uses to determine available printer software.
Click Show Details , select any available software updates, and then click Install .
NOTE: Install all available updates for best printer performance and functionality.
Turn on your printer, and then make sure that it has paper in the tray and that it is in a ready state.
Connect the USB cable to the printer and to the Mac. A print queue is automatically created for your printer. If the Mac already has current software for your printer, the print queue is created in the background.NOTE:If you are prompted to install any additional software for your printer, click Install , and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan , and then make sure that your printer is in the list of available devices. If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign ( ) at the bottom of the left pane, click the name of your USB printer, and then click Add .NOTE: Quit and restart any applications that were open before adding the printer to use the updated HP software features.
    Hope this helps

  • Iphoto won't let me print a landscape photo

iphoto won't let me print a landscape photo this is what it is doing when i go to print and it is driving me mad pleaseeee help

That means your original library is damaged and requires first aid.  Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Location Services won't let go . . . .

I have a Time Capsule as my base station (primary router) connected to a Comcast cable modem.  I also have an Airport Express set up in another part of my house to stream music to my stereo.
I spend 3 months in Florida in the winter and I take my Airport Express with me and use it as my base station (primary router) connected to a Comcast cable modem while in Florida.  I've been doing this for 3 years now and when I got home from Florida this year and set up my Airport Express to "Extend a wireless network" as I always have, I noticed a weird thing happening.  Whenever I am in range of the AIrport Express with my iPad (which I bought while in Florida this year), the iPad's location services thinks I'm still in Florida.  e.g. Google Maps, Flixter (finds movie theaters in you area), weather apps, etc. all snap to the Florida location.  If I move the iPad into the range of the Time Capsule, location services correctly locates me in Massachusetts.  Funny thing is, this only happens on the iPad.  My wife and I both have MacBooks and when using Google Maps (show my location) for directions, they correctly locate us in Mass. no matter which router we are connected to.
    It's like Location Services won't let go of the Florida location . . . . .
Is this an iPad issue or an Airport Express issue?

I, too, am intrigued by this entire situation.  So much so that I keep doubting myself, so I've been checking and re-checking the iPad and our MBs by moving them from the room with the Time Capsule to the room with the Airport Express and then going to Google Maps on the MBs and a bunch of apps on the iPad and seeing where they think we are located.  And so far, nothing has changed.
At first I thought (as you did) that MBs determine location using a different method than iPads.  But, that doesn't explain why some apps on the iPad work and others don't?!?!?!?
Another thought I had was, when Apple updates their router location database, will my Airport Express's location update since I now have it set up to "Extend a wireless network"?  My Time Capsule is set up as my base station (primary router) connected to a Comcast cable modem.

  • Iphoto won't let me drag photos to a directory

I've been using iphoto for years to import photos from my camera, now all the sudden it's changed its behavior. After importing the photos, I drag them to the directory of my choice in Finder, but now it won't let me. There's a little icon with a circle and diagonal line that follows the photo when I drag it, and it doesn't copy to the directory, it bounces back to iphoto. Anybody know why this is happening? I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 and iphoto 7.1.5. I've dug through the preferences and can't find anything relevant, and of course, "Help" is worthless.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Rob

Well the reason it's not working is because iPhoto cannot find the files.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    As to the Workflow question
I don't want to use twice the disk space. I don't want a "Library". I just want the photos in the directories that I've created.
Then don't use iPhoto. Check out Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) for the job you want.

  • Mail App won't let me reply/reply all to messages

    Hi folks,
Unfortunalty, I have a problem on my hands. My Mail application won't let me "Reply" or "Reply all" to certain messages. I noticed so far that I cannot reply to messages from the GMail domain. If I click on "Reply" or "Reply All", the buttons toggle like they have been clicked, but nothing happens. When I look in the Console application, I see the following entry every time I hit those two buttons:
    2006-09-10 16:28:54.794 Mail[1654] * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil
Now, I also cannot attach anything to any message. This is a consistent problem that is a real pain! If I want to send an attachment, I have to go to the webmail portal and use that to send messages with attachements. When I click on the paperclip icon in the toolbar, I see this message in the Console application:
2006-09-10 16:51:13.154 Mail[1654] Exception raised during posting of notification. Ignored. exception: * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil
What does this mean and what can I do to correct this issue? Thanks in advance!

    Hola Jaime.
This problem in Mail is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services -- the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:
    Resetting Launch Services
If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, this other article provides links to some utilities that can be used for troubleshooting and cache cleaning:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
It seems that the most appropriate utility for solving this particular problem is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
As an example, this is how you should proceed with OnyX:
    1. Quit all applications.
    2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
    3. Click Maintenance. In the Reset section, check LaunchServices database.
    4. You may uncheck any other pre-checked options if you wish.
    5. Click the Execute button.
    6. Restart the computer.

  • Every time I try to open a new web page a window pops up saying the certificate for the page is invalid?? It won't let me on my emails or Facebook

Every time I try to open a new web page a window pops up saying the certificate for the page is invalid?? It won't let me on my emails or Facebook

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are several possible causes for it.
Back up all data, then take each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Date & Time
Select the Time Zone tab in the preference pane that opens and check that the time zone matches your location. Then select the Date & Time tab. Check that the data and time shown (including the year) are correct, and correct them if not.
    Check the box marked
              Set date and time automatically
if it's not already checked, and select one of the Apple time servers from the menu next to it.
    Step 2
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
If the problem is not reproducible in safe mode, then it's caused by third-party "anti-virus" or "security" software. If you know what that software is, remove it as directed by the developer after backing up all data. If you don't know what it is, ask for instructions.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemCACertificates.keychain
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open. The dialog should show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section.
    Repeat with this line:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
If instead of the Info dialog, you get a message that either file can't be found, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it by pressing command-V. Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
    Step 4
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the upper left corner of the window, you should see a list headed Keychains. If not, click the button in the lower left corner that looks like a triangle inside a square.
In the Keychains list, there should be items named System and System Roots. If not, select
              File ▹ Add Keychain
from the menu bar and add the following items:
    /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
Open the View menu in the menu bar. If one of the items in the menu is
              Show Expired Certificates
select it. Otherwise it will show
              Hide Expired Certificates
    which is what you want.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them has a blue-and-white plus sign or a red "X" in the icon, double-click it. An inspection window will open. Click the disclosure triangle labeled Trust to disclose the trust settings for the certificate. From the menu labeled
              Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
    select
              no value specified
Close the inspection window. You'll be prompted for your administrator password to update the settings.
Now open the same inspection window again, and select
When using this certificate: Use System Defaults
Save the change in the same way as before.
Revert all the certificates with non-default trust settings. Never again change any of those settings.
    Step 5
Select My Certificates from the Category list. From the list of certificates shown, delete any that are marked with a red X as expired or invalid.
Export all remaining certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
              Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Export each certificate as an individual file; don't combine them into one big file.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
    Step 7
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    /var/db/crls
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "crls" should open. Move all the files in that folder to the Trash. You’ll be prompted for your administrator login password.
Restart the computer, empty the Trash, and test.
    Step 8
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open -e /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in the same way you launched Keychain Access.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                              localhost
    255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
    ::1                                        localhost
    fe80::1%lo0                    localhost
If that's not what you see, post the contents of the window.

  • Compressor 3.5 won't let me reduce the MPEG2 program file average bit rate

    Compressor 3.5 won't let me reduce the MPEG2 program file average bit rate less then 10Mbps. I just installed this new version and it is giving me this problem. I have been delivering an 1hr MPEG2 program streaming at 6Mbps average to 7.1Mbps Max output with Compressor 1 for a year now. Here is my workflow;
Drop the 1440X1080 into NTSC timeline and DO NOT conform so it will be rendering as 720X480 then shoot that sequence to compressor to above settings. It worked just fine for a year. Now, this new compressor wont let me do less then 10Mbps which is the lowest bitrate for HD. The network can not run any bigger file than 6Mbps. I checked my settings restarted and all that. IS this a bug that needs to be fixed? Any help would be appreciated since my deadline is tomorrow.

Sorry, meant to say that this only happens with court databases. As far as I can tell, I can download from other sites with no trouble.

AFTER recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
