Servlets in oracle 8i release 2 (version 8.1.6)

Is it possible to deploy servlets in JServer (Oracle 8i release 2)? If possible, is there any working example or sample provided by Oracle? Pls advice me on the same
NOTE: But one documentation says that servlet deployment is a feature of Release 3. is it so???

I don't think you need change that parameters and make.
there is a post not far from here says you can set those parameters in /etc/sysctrl.conf, then reboot.
I didn't set any parameters, I checked them, they are different
names from those in ICG, and for those with same names, they are much higher in my system. So, I just go with them, and OK.

  • Oracle Database releases and versioning

After trying to install Database 10g on multiple platforms, I have a few questions that I hope someone won't mind answering:
    - Why is the syntax for key binary commands so different between one release of a single version? For example: primary emca commands that worked for 10g R1 have a completely different syntax for R2, and many R1 commands no longer work at all.
    - In looking at the download list for 10g R2, it seems that only version 10.2.0.1 is available for common server platforms, while more recently updated versions are available solely for proprietary platforms (10.2.0.2 for HP, Solaris, zLinux), and the very latest version (10.2.0.3) is available only for Windows Vista. This seems counter-intuitive: are more people running Oracle on proprietary server platforms than on Linux systems? And, even more interesting: is anyone running production-grade databases on Windows Vista?

emca is one of the supplementary features that was introduced in 10g R1 that needed enhancement. Hence the changes.
Oracle traditionally had been careful to maintain forward compatible syntax. It seems they were not quite as careful with emca.

However, there were some platform specific patches that were required to make the 'proprietary' versions install or work at all. Rather than back-port the patches to 10.2.01., Oracle decided to load 10.2.0.2 for those.
When Microsoft released their latest proprietary operating system, Vista, ages after Oracle released 10.2.0.1 for Windows, Oracle was caught between a rock and a hard place: do they backport the stuff needed to compensate for the Vista changes or do they simply roll up the latest stuff and release that. I'd guess they decided that, since Vista is a desktop OS and only a few limited shops would use a desktop OS instead of a server OS in production,m it probably would be safe to release the latest rollup.
Personally, I do not run any production grade databases on desktop platforms. Linux, Unix (mainly ) and Widows 2003 Server.

  • Oracle 9i Release 2 Desupport

    Friends,
I am seeing many forums and sites where it is stated that Oracle will desupport the Oracle 9i Release 2 version of Database on all plateform on 31-July-2007.
Do anyone has official confirmation on this?
    Thanks
    Vishal

All our production servers are already on 9.2.0.8.Good on you :-)
Yet to be confirmed, but if we are on less than latest patch set level, we can still get support and existing patches, but we do not get the right to new fixes.
I need have my Oracle 9i R2 for other couple of year
(or atleat till 2011). I dont want to move to 10g R2
(can think of if they do not charge me though). There's an additional support fee in year 7 and 8 (year 2-3 in Extended stage), that you would need to plan for.

  • Difference between 9iAS Release 1 version 1.0.2.2.1 and Oracle 10gR2

    Everyone,
We are facing very critical issue while upgrading from Oracle form 6i to Oracle 10g. Earlier the forms were deployed on web using 9iAS Release 1 version 1.0.2.2.1 which now migrated to Oracle 10gR2 Suite (Forms - 9.0.4.0.19 and Application Server is 10.1.2.0.2 and database is moved to Rack). We were not having issue during testing but as soon as we migrated in Production we are having issues starting from Stale connections to Http 500 errors, FRM-92000 and droped or lost network connectivity errors. Still unable to pin point the root cause. We increased the Memeory, JVMs, heap size, connection etc as per Oracle Support recomendations. Recently by looking in one of the article refered by Oracle and found that there are some recomendation for form upgrade from 6i to 10g. All of the recomendations are mainly to avoid network traffic. Now I have been assigned the case study to address this issue in the light of our current application system, which is mainly front end oracle forms, Userexit (C and Perl C for business logic) and Oracle database. This Userexit is residing at the application Server and used mainly for lots of business functionalities.
My question here is what makes this new upgrade different than previous application server. Is there any documentation available that refers how the calls are being received, routed and transmitted from Oracle Application Servers to client, database. I would really appreciate the inputs from all of you. Please feel free to ask if there is any question. Thanks.

Can you show the apache logs, oc4j_bi_forms_defaultisland log form opmn/logs, and other logs with the exact string of error?
This could be related to a lot of things.
    Regards.

  • Installation problem with oracle 10g release 1 in RHEL ES 4 platform

    Hi,
I am facing such a problem. I want to install Oracle 10g release 1.
    I am using linux 86_64
os is RHEL ES 4 UPGRADE 5 X_86_64
When i put the command ./runInstaller It shows os is not supported.
Is there any way to install this oracle version.
Can u please suggest which version os is suitable for this.
    please suggest.
    Thanks & regards

WHICH 10gR1 software do you use? Oracle provides different versions, you need 10.1.0.3 for Linux x86-64 from the OTN download page.
By the way I would install 10gR2.

  • Installation of Oracle 11g Release 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi:
    When I tried to install 64-bit Oracle 11g Release 2 on a system running 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2.
One of the system pre-requisites failed with the following error message:
    Checking operating system requirements ...
    Expected result: One of 5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0
    Actual Result: 6.1
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: Oracle Database 11g is not certified on the current operating system.
Recommendation: Make sure you are installing the software on the correct platform.
I presume 6.0 is Windows 2008 Server and 6.1 should be Release 2.
Does this mean that this version is not compatible with Server 2008 Release 2?

Which is why I gave you the link - so you could monitor for yourself.OK, thanks...
I was just hoping there was an official release date and I just couldn't find it.
Is there any information about features in 11gR2 for Windows available yet?
Or can you maybe tell me if it will be possible to mount the new "database filesystem" like we can do on linux?
I remember oracle did something similar with Oracle ifs (Internet File System) back in Oracle 9i. (or was it 8i?)

    Hey Guys,
I am Srinivas Here who had been trying to install Oracle Database 10G on Windows X86 on Windows XP Professional.
If you have Win-XP Professional as your Operating System. Do not download the oracle Database using windows - XP Professional because XP will block certain installation files while downloading. In your machine install Windows 2000 or any other Windows version as a dual boot. First the download Database Zip files using your other version of Windows Operating system and then when you Unzip the files it will create a folder called Database and all the files will be present in it.If you want to store the same to cd for having to install the 10G Rel 2 database through CD then copy the contents of the unzipped database folder and store only the contents of the database folder and write them to CD's. Please see to it that while writing on cd's do not copy the folder itself .
After this, restart the system and get into windows XP Professional (Your XP Professional should be with Service Pack 2 in order to install 10G Database on windows XP - The Basic requirements for Oracle Database 10G on Windows X86).
I request you to check the software and hardware requirements from oracle Documents before you install the Oracle Database 10G on Windows x86 as well as Oracle Database 10G on Linux X86 or any other operating systems.
Finally, After you run the Oracle Universal installer in the last you will get messages for all products installed Success and finally it will ask the password for DBA and open the password management and give the password and reenter password and on the left you will have to unlock the items you would like to use.
In the last it will give you various URL links for Isqlplus, DBA, Enterprise Manager and a log report stored into oracle directory stored in your C:\Program files\Oracle folders. The correct link will be given at the end and you will have to watch the installation carefully. You can find DBCA and other options working. Try login in to Oracle through Command prompt, Sqlplus prompt availabe in Start ->Programs->Orahome10G->application Development-sqlplus as well as login through isqlplus link- Before this you should login at the command prompt as SYSDBA. YOU CAN SEE THAT YOUR DATABASE IS NOW WORKING IN WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL.
THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ALL FORUM MEMBERS WHO GAVE ME IDEA AND SUPPORT
    REGARDS,

  • OWB on Oracle 10G Release 2

    Dear all,
I planned to use an Oracle 10G Release 2 database for a new OWB project. Research on the web just told me that this new version of the database does not support OWB, because of a check for DBA privileges.
The website advises to either use an earlier version of the database (10g R1) or wait for the release of the 10.1.0.4 patch for OWB.
Is this patch available at this moment? If so, can anyone tell me where I can download it? If not, does anyone know when this patch will be released?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul Versluis

    Hi,
    I have installed 10.1.0.4 OWB on Suse 9.3 and Suse 10 x86.
I sent correction notes to Oracle Documentation team as there were a few errors for the Linux Install.
More importantly i found in 10.1.0.4 one of the key install shell scripts will never work as the coders forgot to export a JAVAPATH variable meaning the script could never find the JRE
Good to see ORACLE test the installation of their releases
When i get back from Bew Year holiday i will send you my notes if you like
    regards

  • Installation error message for Oracle Database software for version 10g

Would someone be able to advise why I keep getting the following error message whilst installing Oracle trial Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition? Link listed below : -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
    Error message "Cannot create directory"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp"
Below is the 12 steps that I go through, please advise what I'm doing wrong : -
    1. (Operations) default is Create a database
    2. (Database templetes) default is general purpose
    3. (Database Identification) projemp.local for Global database name & projemp for SID
    4. (Management options) default is "Configure the database with Enterprise manager, also the options button has been clicked for "Use database control for database management"
    5. (Database Credentials) the options button has been clicked for "Use the same password for all accounts" so I've set up a new password, was that correct?
    6. (Storage options) the options button is clicked for "File System - use the file system for database storage.
    7. (Database file locations) the options button is clicked for "Use database file locations for template" Is this option correct? Other options are Use common location for all database files or use Oracle-managed files?
    8. (Recovery configuration) the options button is clicked for "Specify flash recovery area
    9. (Database content) nothing has been selected, the only option is "Sample schemas" should that be clicked?
    10. (Initialization parameters) the options button is clicked for "Typical- allocate memory as a % of the total physical memory
    11. (Database storage) no options available
    12. (Creation options) the options button has been selected for "Create Database"
    Click finish
I then get a screen stating General purpose, click OK then I get the following error message as stated at the start of this e-mail ""Cannot create directory"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp".

    >
I've gone through my courses instructions as listed above (1-12) and end up with the following error message"C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_7\cfgtoollogs\dbca\projemp".What course?
    >
I've removed the software from my computer using control panel, programs & features then uninstall once but the other five times the software hasn't been listed. Whilst the Oracle was on my task bar I was able to install using Start > Programs > Oracle - HOME-NAME > Database Administration > Database Configuration Assistant. No you didn't. Database Configuration Assistant does not remove software. It can remove a database. As I mentioned before, there is a difference between the software and the objects that software manages. Deleting an Excel spreadsheet is not the same as deleting Microsoft Office. Deleting an Oracle database with Database configuration assistant is not the same as removing the Oracle software.
    >
Now that oracle is not on my task bar I've unzipped the link below, clicked on db, Disk1, setup, changed the Database password (is that correct?) install and I get the following error message "Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed<<<<<
Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
    Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses;
However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adaptor to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP."
So what did you do with the above error message? Did you follow up on what it said? Did you read the very fine Installation Guide that comes with the software? Did you read the section on networking considerations where it discussed DHCP assigned addresses and installing the loopback adapter?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
Ok, that link takes us to the download page, which does not shed any light at all on your problems
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit operating system, and my computer is saying I have 142 GB free space.
If you read the installation manual that came with the downloaded software, you'd have seen in the prerequisites that Home editions of Windows are NOT listed as supported platforms, whereas Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions specifically ARE listed as supportd.
    Hope this is some help.And
I'm not to clever on computers so would you be able to advise how I get to the command window to issue the SET command please?
Also I've no idea what OS user I am, I'm taking an on-line Oracle course and been advised to install "Oracle Database software for version 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition"
How do I find out if I'm part of an Administrator, ORA_DBA group ?
Can you walk me through how to create the directory from command line please?Ok, given the above statements from you, I'm not even sure where to begin. I don't want to be cruel, but this self-admitted lack of even the most rudimentary knowledge by someone attempting to learn about Oracle is truly astounding. What course are you taking? Why are you taking this course?

    Hi,
Morning..could someone please assist us with this issue..
We are trying to generate FRD and Forms Trace for a seeded Oracle Apps Forms in Release version 12.0.6
    1. We have setup the below mentioned profile option at the user level : ICX: Forms Launcher
    value : http://<host_name>:<port number>/OA_HTML/frmservlet?record=forms tracegroup=medium
tried with this value as well : http://<host_name>:<port number>/OA_HTML/frmservlet?record=forms tracegroup=0-97
and then log out and then tried the transaction steps again in Oracle Apps frontend
    2. Then checked at the directory location named : $FORMS_TRACE_DIR and there we see a file generated like this :forms_19136694.trc
But in this file we could only see the generic seeded error messages...why are we not seeing all the message calls showing all the details regards form level trigger , data blocks , values etc for the form
We need to have the FRD & Forms trace generated urgently for an issue...
Could someone please help us as to how a complete FRD & Forms Trace be generated in Oracle Forms in Oracle Apps version R 12.0.6 & what exact steps need to be checked.

Have you tried to delete/rename the file, reproduce the issue and see if a new file is generated?
You would need to logout and login again, or bounce the application services (if possible) after doing the necessary configuration steps and before reproducing the issue.

    Hi,
you have a database version 10.2.0.1.0, but SOA needs 10.2.0.2 or higher. Update your database using the latest patchset.
