Session failed to start - after updating to IOS 7

I've updated to my iphone 4 to IOS 7 and now it won't sync with itunes.  Its says "session failed to start".  Help!

On the advice I got from others, here's what I finally did:
1.  I connected my iPhone to my PC and backed it up to iTunes.  Even though the phone doesn't sync, it will still back up and it did.
2.  I then went in to settings on my iPhone under "Reset" and did the "Erase All Content and Settings", while still leaving my iPhone connected to my computer.
3.  Once the phone booted back up, iTunes asked me if I wanted to restore my phone from back up.  I chose restore and it restored my phone back and it is now working 100%.  I'll add that it froze up during the restore process and I simply rebooted my PC and the ran sync and it finally worked.  Took forever for my apps to all load back (couple of hours), but its fixed and working great.
I cannot tell you how upset I am with Apple.  Many of us have this same issue and Apple has done nothing to help us or fix it.  I've wasted 12 hours of my life on something that should have been simple and seamless.  Isn't that the point of Apple and iPhones?

  • ColdFusion 8 Fails to start after update Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 4

I have been using ColdFusion on a Mac for years. Now CF fails to start after I updated Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4. I usually start by typing in the terminal window sudo /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin/ColdFusion start.
There is a crash report but I don't know how to read it. See attached.
Please help, I need this working for my job.
    Thanks...Colin

    Dear Craig,
Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM
I'm sure that this is 64-bit
    CF 8.0.1 Enterprise Build 3080
I had moved the Java SE 6 to the top in both Plugin and Applications. The
correct version is showing in the terminal window. See below.
Last login: Thu Jun 18 11:27:09 on ttys001
    Beta-4:~ Colin$ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03-211)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.3-b02-83, mixed mode)
    Beta-4:~ Colin$
CF will not start. I have the activity monitor open, and when I start CF you
see it in the activity monitor for a few seconds as it starts up. When the
message process is completed in the terminal window CF disappears in the
    activity monitor.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Colin,
My apologies but I forgot to ask 2 questions: (1) What kind of Mac you have
(Intel or PowerPC)? (2) What version of CF are you running and what installer
    did you choose (8 or 8.0.1, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.)?
    To start, try the following:
    1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
    2. Open Java Preferences again
    3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
    Plugin and Applications)
    4. Open Terminal
    5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
    6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
    and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
    folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
    /Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
    necessary!
    Best,
    Craig

  • Ipad won't start after updating to ios 8.1.3

My iPad was working without issue prior to updating to IOS 8.1.3 yesterday. After updating, not only would the ipad not start, it produced intermittent tones. The tone heard when device is plugged into an outlet for charging.
I attempted to turn the device off but it would not respond. Afterwards, a reboot was attempted numerous times by holding the home and sleep buttons down simultaneously. Once the Apple logo appeared the buttons were released, the logo disappeared but the device remained dormant.
While connected to iTunes and emitting the connection tones, periodically the splash screen would appear momentarily then turn off. I was able to swipe the screen on one of these occasions. The device worked properly until it was turned off after use at which time it would not turn on again and remains unable to turn on. It does not respond to attempts to turn it off or rebooting.
Prior to the update I did backup the device in case something like this would occur. Since I appear to have exhausted all my options to get the device to work, I feel the only remaining option is to restore it to factory default. I would appreciate advice from anyone who may either have experienced this same issue and found a resolution, or can provide thoughts on how I should proceed please.
If I proceed with a restore to factory default followed by a restore of the most recent backup, will I lose any data during this process? This will be my first time to erase a device so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I would, of course, prefer an alternative resolution. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello, Tony.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your iPad no long starts after an update and you have a backup for your iPad.  It sounds like you will need to restore the device to factory and then will have the option to access your backup after the restore complete.  The only information that should be missing would be after the backup was completed until the device is restored.  I have included the steps for going through this process in the articles below.

using safari or a computer, go to apple.com.  select store, and in the upper right, try to log into your account.  See if they give you a hint at what the issue is, but it sounds like there is some issue with your account - probably easily fixable.

  • IBook fails to start after update

    Hello,
I completed the most recent software update and shutdown my iBook. Today when I attempted to turn it on – nothing. No chime, no screen and it will not turn on.
The battery is fully charged and the AC adapter is working (the green ring is lit when plugged in). I have taken the battery out and unplugged it as well as followed the trouble shooting information (Apple - troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up)with no luck.
I am afraid it’s hardware related – However, like anybody who has not run a backup in a while….. I was hoping someone has another idea or has experienced this.
    Thanks.
    Ibook G3   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Steve,
Your iBook sounds like it could have a bad DC-in board. Do you know anyone with another battery you could try in your iBook? Or are you close to an Apple Store where you could take it in and have them try a different battery?
When my husband's adapter tip broke off in the adapter port, damaging the DC-in board, his iBook would only run from a charged battery. It would not run from the adapter, and it would not charge the battery. He still could use it with a charged battery, and he and I swapped batteries, allowing my iBook to charge both batteries, until he could get his iBook fixed.
When you push the test button on the battery, how many lights do you see?
If your iBook will run from a charged battery, chances are that it is the DC-in board causing your problem. All the green light on the adapter means is that the battery is not charging. When everything is working right, that means the battery is fully charged. When things aren't working right, there may be other reasons why the battery is not charging.

  • Leopard fails to start after update

I recently updated my g5 to Leopard (clean install) and all was fine until last night when I was prompted with five updates (Quicktime, iDVD, iPhoto, iTunes and Garageband) I downloaded and installed (got the update boot caches message). The G5 rebooted but is now stuck on the grey apple screen with the twirling icon and the fans are howling away.
Has anyone exerienced this? Need help.
    Thanks

Ok so here's what happened for those who end up in a similar situation. I booted to 10.5 and ran the verify...couldn't verify...ran repair...couldn't repair...ran Disk Warrior...found many error's and fixed them but couldn't replace the directory. So I had to rebuild from a clean install...again. Don't know wht so many errors...possible HD replacement needed. However, the moral of the story goes...
Don't perform any updates until you know for sure that your HD has no directory errors.

  • Sync session failed to start in iTunes after updated to iOS 7

Sync session failed to start in iTunes after updated to iOS 7

    Restart your computer
While your computer is restarting, clear all of the applications from the background on your iPhone. You can do this by pushing the home button twice and swiping the programs off the screen by pushing them upwards.
After you are done doing that, restart your phone.
Wait about 10 seconds or so and turn your phone back on. By the time you get your phone back on your computer should be completly restarted and ready to go.
When your phone is back on, plug it into your computer. This should automatically bring up your Itunes, you may get another pop up that says autoplay, you can close that out. That's it. I hope it helps and good luck

  • First sync attempt after updating to newest version last week, now telling me that "could not be synced because sync session failed to start"... help?

I updated my iPod Touch last week, and now I went to sync it with some new music on my computer and I get the message that "could not be synced because sync session failed to start". This is obviously the first step in the process and has never been a message I have received through owning the original iPod, the iPod 2G, and the iPod Touch 2G and now 4G. Any ideas? Common problem?

Thanks. I couldn't find it previously, but once I asked the question officially it popped up in the suggested answers box on the side. Could not, then, figure out how to delete this comment! Ha. Appreciate you taking the time to point it out though, thanks!

  • IOS 5: The iPad "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.

Am trying to migrate into the iCloud and updated:
    1. Mac Air to 10.7.2
    2. iTunes to 10.5.(141)
    3. iPad (1) to iOS 5 (9A334)
Was able to sychronize and then found out I lost all my apps and rearranged them in iTunes and hoping I could resync them again and received:
The iPad “...” could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.
I saw various entries for this in the the communites mainly caused by earlier Betas but I haven't seen anything for the latest versions released last week.
    Anybody who can help?

Try resetting your iPad an see if that will let you sync.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Try restarting your computer as well.

    Hi Giannis,
If you are having an issue with Touch ID not functioning as expected, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
