Session Lost Issues

Hello, to all expertise
Isnt any people got face session lost issue before?
Project Description
Structs -> (MVC)
Session Time Out(Web.xml)
<session-time-out> 1hours
Application Server
JBoss 4
Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0
Using JDeveloper10g as IDE tools
Trying Solutions (But also kenot resolve problems)
1) Increase the session time out
2) Add one class for HttpSessionListener
a) public void sessionCreated(HttpSessionEvent se){}
b) public void sessionDestroyed(HttpSessionEvent se){}
If i not mistaken, the sessionCreated is when first time we go in into the page, then the sessionCreated wont be call unless there was new request or new user... What i trying to say is the sessionCreated is only be call once for one browser.. However, each time when i was doing some transaction or click on any window pop up menu like using javascript : window.showmodaldialog, or alert scriplet, it since got the session will recreated.. But the case is i cant really estimate when the
session will recreated... Each time the session recreated, the attribute and all the value store in that particular will be lost rite?
Further more, i declare one SessionManager.class to store all the session variable include the session id after the user success to login to the screen. Each time when the was transaction in database such as add, update, I will using the vector to store and compare whether the request.getSession().getId is same with the same the sessionid in vector or not... If there was same, then the continue the following task, if there was different between the id in request with the vector, means the session is recretead so i will send redirect to the login page...
For the add and update transaction we will use the alert("Add success"); to inform the user the database have been success added!
But the session lost is after 4 minutes or within 10 minutes very often it happen even the page are activate by the user...
Isnt any one got happen this before? Isnt the alert pop up menu? or isnt the window.showModalDialog cause it?
I didnt use any session.invalidate or any session.remoteatrribute to remove all the session stuff.. How can it will recreated new one?
Very Thanks to have your all useful suggestion and guideline
Thanks and best regards

There is a performance penalty for using SSL, but there are solutions to address that penalty (SSL hardware acceleration). And, no, SSL doesn't prevent anyone from guessing anything, but the point of using a UUID for session tokens is to make guessing extremely difficult even with brute-force repetitive approaches.

  • Session creation issues with DS3.2

    We are using BODS 3.2 for development. We are aware that a newer version of DS has been released quite a long time ago but due to some reasons we are still using DS 3.2.
    We are facing some session creation issues. We are using Teradata and Oracle as source and extracting\updating data using some SQLs in script tasks. SQLs are targeting huge amount of data. We executed a job and checked on the servers, sessions were created on the databases. Job kept on executing for long time and was not getting completed, there was no error also. After waiting so long, I checked on Database server and found that session was lost for these SQLs on Database servers. We are able to create a successful connection using Data Stores.
    Please suggest something, Why the sessions are not getting lost on the database servers?.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi...I'm new to the forum.
    2 of the same phones in my household having similar issues since OS upgrade.
    -Text automatically going to MMS when sending pics and the pics won't send.  1 phone freezes, the other acts like its sent but not sent-this phone won't load emailed pics either.
    -Keep getting notifications that passwords need updated for email accounts.
    -Facebook app won't load on 1 phone-tried deleting, pulling battery and re-installing.  Still getting "session re log-in required" but there is nowhere to load the log-in info under accounts. Getting the same message on the other phone but the app is still listed under accounts so am able to log in.
    -Both phones are randomly re-starting. Multiple times over past 3 days.
    Any known issues like these?
    There must be some common factor why both phones are having the same problem.
    With the 10.2.1.537, the only problem I had was a few contacts merged and surnames were repeated.
    I haven't noticed any difference with the latest upgrade.
    Maybe a security wipe and restore contacts and email then one app at a time.

    Could some one let me know how to maintain the session stickiness and please do let me know why the JVM ID is getting changed.
    Note : We are using cookie based replication in our environment.
    Thanks & Regards
    Arun

    the CSS does not have the possibility to dynamically learn cookie.
    So, you have to setup manually the value sent by each server.
    According to your setup, the jsessionid would have a fix value after the first 33 bytes and the value will be 2 bytes long.
    Is that correct ?
    If yes, try to increase the string range.
    Finally, it might be easier to use arrowpoint cookies.
    Gilles.

  • How to reset the data when the session lost?

    When I use response.sendRedirect("http://localhost:82/main.jsp")
    the session lost, because the URL before redirect is using SSL,
    "https://localhost:81/index.jsp", they use the different port,
    so the session lost, what should i do to prevent this? And how
    to reset the data?

    Create a HashMap and store it as an attribute of the servlet context. In the first servlet assign the user a key and store all session data in the HashMap under that key (use a vector, collection or user defined class).
    In the response.sendRedirect call add the key to the url:
    response.sendRedirect(url + "?key=" + userKey);
    In the second servlet get the key (request.getParameter("key")), retrieve the session data from the HashMap in the servletcontext and store in an httpsession.
    Remember to delete the entry from the HashMap so it doesn't become overly large.

  • Open tabs from last session lost - intermittently

    Don't know whether it's a bug or me but tabs left open from last session are lost - intermittently - when I re enter Firefox mobile on my Samsung Galaxy s3.
    I'll often leave 5 or so showing on the tab counter in the top right hand corner of the browser. Sometimes they will be there next session, but mostly they aren't!
    Any suggestions?

    HI alt-images,
    Thank you for your question. When they do not show up, are you using a guest session or have you whipped the cache of the application from the mobile device's OS settings menu?
    Also please check these settings on Firefox for Android: Settings > Customize >Tabs
    Is "Always Restore" selected, or "Don't restore after quitting Firefox"
    Please post back with the results and we can continue to troubleshoot the issue, thank you!

  • Session Timeouts issue massively frustrating

    I am getting session timeouts when logged into my netmail & trying to compose emails. It happens constantly, sometimes immediately after logging in, sometimes 5 minutes into a session, sometimes 2 minutes into a session. It is completely random timing-wise. It kicks me all the way back out to the login and I've lost whatever I've done since the last "save to draft".
    It is extremely frustrating as you can't even get a simple 10-15 line email drafted without losing work and having to log back in.
    This issue appears to be intermittent as I've had this problem off and on for months now. It will happen for a while, then stop, then start happening again.
    As a software developer by trade, I suspect someone is occassionally re-introducing the bug by using an old peice of code as a baseline, which then eventually gets fixed, only to have that same developer re-introduce the bug again later. I noticed this issue beginning when Verizon switched over to this newer netmail system from the old one (maybe a year or so ago?).
    I'm running on IE 7, in an environment where my browser and/or network does not change so the intermittent issues can't be blamed on my environment.

    Workflow #2:
    Login to my account
    Click view all email
    Open Drafts Folder
    Open draft email response
    Select "Send" to send email (total in session time of 30 seconds)
    On screen reload, where I would expect to see some sort of indication that my email was successfully sent, instead the system throws session time out message and kicks me out.
    I have no idea if my email was successfully sent or not.
    Workflow #3:
    Login to my account
    Click view all email
    Attempted to open the first new email in my inbox (total time in session <15 seconds)
    System throws session timeout error and kicks me out to the main login.
    There is obviously something going on with your session holding code. The session variable is not being passed correctly or something but it's very, very frustrating to spend 30-45 minutes trying to type out a couple of lines, particularly when you have multiple important activities going on that you need to respond too via email.

  • Session lost (IE5 & IE6) when opening popup window.

    Ok, I've been struggling with this problems for days and spent countless hours with google without finding any decent solutions.
    I'm building a ecommerce site and if the user want to see additional information + pictures from a product, he/she can open a popup window that also has "add to cart"-submit field.
    UserID and some other necessary data is kept in sessions but IE5 / IE6 seems to loose these in this new window when opening it via javascript (popup).
    If I have understood right, the session is lost because IE considers the new window as a new task and therefore it is out of the "session scope".
    Ok, one might say that using encodeUrl()-method should fix this problem, but no it doesn't. encodeURL()-method writes the session to URL only when user has disabled the cookies and in my situation it's not the case.
    Has anyone here been struggling with the problem above ? I've been considering if I encode the UserID and other information manually to the URL and decode it back in the popup, but that brings n+1 security issues to my mind and doesn't really sound like a decent solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Roni
    p.s: Sorry about my crappy english.

    Hmm,
    I did a small test and managed to get the sessions to work with IE.
    the main page:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%
    session.setAttribute("foo", "bar");
    %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontest</title>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function popUp(URL) {
    options="toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,status=no," + "menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=416,height=465, left = 362,top = 184";
    var Infowindow=window.open(URL, "Infowindow" ,options);
    Infowindow.focus();
    -->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    sessionattribute <b>foo</b> has value <b>bar</b><p>
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("sessiondebugpopup.jsp") %>')">link to popup</a>
    </body>
    </html>popup:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <html><head><title>sessiontestpopup</title>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    attribute value is:<p>
    <b><%= (String)session.getAttribute("foo") %>
    </body>
    </html>This works just fine, but the code in the actual application does not differ from this.
    Only difference I can figure out if that the .js popup() function is located in header.jsp and the call to the popup is in other .jsp that includes the header.
    Here's the call to the popup in the application:
    <a href="javascript:popUp('<%= response.encodeURL("pop.jsp?prod="+ rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro") +"&img="+ cnt.getPictureURL(rs2.getString("tuo_tuonro"), cnt.getUserId(user)))%>')">link</a>And the above code works just fine with firefox/opera/etc, but not with IE5/IE6 (haven't tried other IE versions though).
    This is really getting annoying.

  • VWP: Session lost after navigating 20 pages in IE6 & IE7

    In the known issues of VWP 5.5.1 release notes, it mentions
    "In projects with more than 20 pages, session data is lost and information saved in a session bean attribute is reset to Null once user navigates past about page 20. This is not an issue in Firefox or other browsers."
    Our project have many JSP pages, and we found that the workaround (change security setting of IE ) mentioned in below released note doesn't work.
    http://www.netbeans.org/community/releases/55/1/vwp-release-notes.html#knownissues
    Is there any other workaround solution instead?

    Well. I got a workaround solution for this issue:
    Setting enableCookies to false in sun-web.xml can avoid this problem.
    Here is my setting:
    <session-config>
    <session-properties>
    <property name="timeoutSeconds" value="1200"/>
    <property name="enableCookies" value="false"/>
    </session-properties>
    </session-config>

  • Dot1x session timeout issue

    Hi
    currently we have an issue with our new dot1x authenticated WLAN. The clients get disconnected when the session timeout expires. As I have discussed with TAC the session timeout forces the client to reauth against RADIUS but should not disassoc him (for non-dot1x-SSIDs it will actually disassoc you by design)
    Each time a client is ejected the following message is produced:
    May 10 09:59:20 xxx *Dot1x_NW_MsgTask_0: May 10 09:59:21.014: %DOT1X-3-INVALID_WPA_KEY_MSG_STATE: 1x_eapkey.c:848 Received EAPOL-key M2 msg has invalid information when mobile is in START  state - invalid secure bit; KeyLen 24, Key type 1, client xxx
    A workaround is either to:
    a) Disable session timout (but we need to check for revoked certs)
    b) Switch from WPA2 to WPA(1)
    So far I've tested with:
    - Win7 and Centrino 6205 (newest driver)
    - Same laptop and some random Realtek USB-Stick
    - Same laptop complete new and blank Windows install (without McAfee HIPS & AV) and both NICs
    - Also an ancient LAP1231, currently this is a 3502
    The interesting part is that we don't seem to have any issues with Ubuntu and Android clients and also an iPad seems to work fine. We are currently running 7.0.240.0, but I also tested with 7.4.103.6 (dev release). The ACS is runnign 5.2 and acknowledges the client fine during reassoc, but for some reason the controller disconnects him.
    There are no strange messages in the Windows event log. Do you have any idea what is causing this? A collegue of mine is facing the same issue at a differen company. TAC seems to be stumped, unfortunatly.

    After some months of playing with TAC we found the issue: It was wrong of TAC to suggest inceasing the EAPOL-Key Timeout. Actually you have to lower this timeout, because it initiates the retransmission of the EAPOL-key request.
    It looks like Win7 changed the behavior somehow (Win XP works fine) and has a more aggressive timeout. Also the first try always fails for some reason still unknown. When the timeout is to large Win 7 diassocs before the controller has a chance to retransmit. I have lowerd the value to 400ms and increased the repeat count which keeps the clients stable again.
    Case is still going on to find out why the first try to reauth fails, something with invalid MIC in M2? My current EAP settings are:
    EAP-Identity-Request Timeout (seconds)........... 5
    EAP-Identity-Request Max Retries................. 3
    EAP Key-Index for Dynamic WEP.................... 0
    EAP Max-Login Ignore Identity Response........... enable
    EAP-Request Timeout (seconds).................... 5
    EAP-Request Max Retries.......................... 3
    EAPOL-Key Timeout (milliseconds)................. 400
    EAPOL-Key Max Retries............................ 4
    EAP-Broadcast Key Interval....................... 3600
    This also got me thinking about the other timeouts and I decreased those as will. Take the EAP-Identity-Request Timout. If you set it to 30 seconds and the first packet ist lost somehow than the client needs to wait 30 seconds for auth, that does not make sense.

              was lost,So I got the session timeout page. But if I
              kill down that server after the invocation, then it
              can failover succesfully without loss of session.
              Could you tell me is there any difference between
              killing down server during and between invocations of
              servlet or JSP?
              The configuration:
              WLS5.1 with sp8. Solaris 5.8
              Using in memory replication.
              Thank you very much for your help.

              I just tested the failover ability of our WebLogic
              cluster. We have two instances, first, I logged onto
              the web site and created a session, and then I called
              a servlet, in which there is a complicated computation
              which will take about 5 seconds, during the
              invocation, I issued the kill -9 to shut the server
              down at once. It did failover, but the http session
              was lost,So I got the session timeout page. But if I

  • KB2923545 remote sessions drop issue

    In our environment we have Remote Desktop Services Host running patched and up to date Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise behind Remote Desktop Gateway running Windows 2012 R2 Standard. Dual Factor
    Authentication from Windows Azure is used in our system as well.<o:p></o:p>
    We experienced following strange behavior. Users with updated Windows 7 clients can successfully authenticate against RD Gateway, receive a call from Windows Azure DFA, authenticate
    and establish remote session to RDSH. No issues while working in remote session until user need step back or minimize the active RD session window. After 120 seconds the session get dropped and reconnects immediately and the user receives another authentication
    call from DFA.<o:p></o:p>
    No errors on client side, no errors on DFA, RDG or RDSH servers, just entries that the session was disconnected and then reconnected.<o:p></o:p>
    Running Wireshark on the clients side shows that the local computer sends RST, ACK which drops connection and then immediately sends SYN to RDG server with initiates connection reestablishment
    and a call from DFA. <o:p></o:p>
    We figured out that this behavior is related to the stations with KB2923545 installed. As soon as we remove mentioned KB, no session drops.<o:p></o:p>
    Anybody experiencing the same and had found other solution then just removing windows update KB2923545? <o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Does this happen on any particular system with specific account?
    As this KB is specific for the issue for your issue, here suggest you to install on another system or reinstall the KB after restating the system. And finally check with new user account without any permission.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Session lost in jsp containing iframe

    In our application after a user logs in to the system he gets a front page which contains an Iframe. The login process initializes variables in the session (and the users security preferences). In some rare cases the Iframe forces the web server to create a new session (apparently the session cookie has not been passed from the parent page to the Iframe src request). In this situation the user is redirected to the login page, when trying to navigate in the website. Does anybody know something about this behavior? And how can this problem be solved (without abandoning the Iframe paradigm)?

    You could try using URL rewriting to generate the URL that iframe uses, so that the session ID is in the URL. Sounds like a timing issue with the browser or something.

  • Cube restructure & data lost issue

    HI,
    We got a serious issue in which some important data got lost and we don't know the reason of the issue. I will give the details:
    # User was doing dimension building and cube restructure. First time he was successful. But second time while restructuring (it was a sparse restructure) he got below error:
    Unable To Find Or Open [E:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\APP\NALNCH\AtLaunch\AtLaunch.otl]
    Error code is 1019002
    So the restructure process aborted. But that cube had a lock on that user's name.
    # After that some other user ran some calculation on that cube (NALNCH). we have found out that next day from the log (User process was running at night).
    # But in the morning user's raised a issue that they are not able to run the calculation as some flag data is not there.
    # We have unlocked the outline and checked that some level's data is missing from the cube. Some data is present. But data is missing from specific levels for all the years. There is no calculation running which can clear data like that.
    We have done below processes:
    1. Validated the cube. Cube was working fine.
    2. We have done a cube copy to test. Ran dense restructure on that copied cube. No improvement.
    3. We have restarted services (EAS & Essbase).
    4. We have exported all data, cleared the copied cube & imported that data. But still data was missing.
    Now we are thinking to restore the cube from back up. But still we have no idea why that error happened and how data got lost.
    Has anybody faced this kind of issue before? Please help

    In addition to backup software you should confirm antivirus realtime scanning is disabled. If you are receiving the error some process has exclusive access to the outline while an Essvbase server is trying to gain exclusive access as well. That process is typically backup software, antivirus, or an orphaned Essbase server.
    If it were an orphaned server that can be caused if the ESSBASE process went down or were killed before an app was shutdown properly.
    By investigating all log files includimpng operating system as well as speaking to your IT teams about backup and AV you can usually determine root cause.
