Session Properties inside Transaction
Hi All,
I am trying to access session variable inside transaction as below.
1. Create new XML query
2. Set URL as xMII 11.5 --> http://<Server>/Lighthammer/PropertyAccessServlet?Mode=List and
12.0 --> http://<Server>:50000/XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=Retrieve&PropName=TETSP&Content-Type=text/xml
3. execute query.
This working in xMII 12.0 version but it is not working in xMII 11.5.
It's is throwing following error.
Error Processing XMLQuery Premature end of file
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://<Server>/Lighthammer/OutputStorageServlet...
Is there any problem with URL setting in 11.5.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for quick reply.
I tried executing xml query with and without login credentials but still it is trhowing same error.
http://<Server>/Lighthammer/Login.jsp?IllumLoginName=<username>&IllumLoginPassword=<Password>&Session=true&target=http://<>Server/Lighthammer/PropertyAccessServlet?Mode%3DList
If i paste URL in explore address bar it gives correct result without login page.
but from Query Templae it throws error --> Error Processing XMLQuery Premature end of file
Also i tried with encoded URL in target
Without passing credentials it is qrking in 12.0 version but not in 11.5

Access Session variable inside Transaction
Hi All,
Is it possible to access session variables inside Transaction.
Create session variable.
Update session variable value
acccess Session variable.
(user session)
Regards,
SachinHi Sachin,
Here is the snapshot:
1. Take session variable in a local JS variable in HTML page.
2. Create a transaction with a input type variable in Transaction Properties.
3. Create a Xacute query and link the above transaction.
4. Creata a iCommand applet on HTML page and link the query template:
<PARAM NAME="QueryTemplate" VALUE=".../QueryName">
Call the function in the below way in HTML:
Applet.getQueryObject().setParam(1,vaiable)
So, the session variable will go to TRX (BLT) and perform the operations as per your need..
You can pass it to other TRX by the same way.
To fetch the value: Create output type variable in TRX 2. Create Xacute query.
Get the value with : Applet.getValue(1,1)
Hope it is useful.

How bapi different from session and call transaction?
how bapi different from session and call transaction?
thanks in advance. For one, Batch Data Communication (BDC) is older. Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) came later, about 10 years ago (you can see this already from the name, which contains marketese like "business" ).
More important though, they are different technologies. With BDC you build the "batch input transaction" yourself, with an ABAP program which creates the "batch input session" ("Batch-Input-Mappe" in german). You then take that session, like an object, and "run" it on a system (most of the time, this is done on a local system by the administrators, after it has been tested for correctness).
With BAPI, a system (local or remote) exposes its interface to you through some kind of Remote Function Call (RFC). Practically, it tells you: "What do you want to do? Insert that data into Materials Management? Here is the function and the the parameters you have to use for each record". You only work with the Interface - the exposed function. How this function works does not have to interest you. You don't have sessions to "run", you fire your function calls filled with data, one after another and you're done.
BAPI can be run remotely. With BDC, you probably have to call the administrators of the remote system and send them the session you created for them to run. With BDC you go through the whole transaction in one BDC session, with BAPI you may need more than one "BAPI calls" to do this.
With BAPI you don't fill obcure field names with values, you just fill the parameters. You can use a BAPI from inside your ABAP program to let a "business object" do some clearly defined work for you, then you can continue with your code doing other things. You don't do this with BDC. With BDC you write a dedicated program that creates the "session", which is then executed separately.
Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the oldest batch interfacing technique that SAP provided since the early versions of R/3. BDC is not a
typical integration tool, in the sense that, it can be only be used for uploading data into R/3 and so it is not bi-directional.
BDC works on the principle of simulating user input for transactional screen, via an ABAP program. Typically the input comes in the form of a flat file. The ABAP program reads this file and formats the input data screen by screen into an internal table (BDCDATA). The transaction is then started using this internal table as the input and executed in the background.
In Call Transaction, the transactions are triggered at the time of processing itself and so the ABAP program must do the error handling.
It can also be used for real-time interfaces and custom error handling & logging features. Whereas in Batch Input Sessions, the ABAP
program creates a session with all the transactional data, and this session can be viewed, scheduled and processed (using Transaction SM35) at a later time. The latter technique has a built-in error processing mechanism too.
Batch Input (BI) programs still use the classical BDC approach but doesnt require an ABAP program to be written to format the
BDCDATA. The user has to format the data using predefined structures and store it in a flat file. The BI program then reads this and
invokes the transaction mentioned in the header record of the file.
Direct Input (DI) programs work exactly similar to BI programs. But the only difference is, instead of processing screens they validate
fields and directly load the data into tables using standard function modules. For this reason, DI programs are much faster (RMDATIND - Material Master DI program works at least 5 times faster) than the BDC counterpart and so ideally suited for loading large volume data. DI programs are
not available for all application areas.
Business Add-In (BADI) are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects.
They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits two different views are available:
In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-level infrastructure (SAP and customer solutions), but instead allow for a multi-level system landscape (SAP, partner, and customer solutions, as well as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure. -
Log file in session and call transaction methods
Hi Experts,
How to see log file in session and call transaction methods?hi
If its a session then goto SM35, select ur session and then u can see log button over there at the top... that will give the log
If its a call transaction then in ur program u need to declare internal table IT_MSGS like this

How can I change session properties in Audition after omf import.
After importing an omf. Everything is imported correctly. But the session properties do not match. I would like to change it back to 24bit. How can I change the session properties such as bit depth, without having to create a new session? There used to be a advanced session properties window.
When you save the session in Audition, if you use 'Save As' then you'll get options to set the save defaults to whatever you want.

Access session variable inside AM module
Is there any way to access session variable inside AM module custom function?
I created one client interface function in AM and want to access one session variable value inside AM custom function.
Please suggest.
ThanksHi
here i need help to find out right approach,my use case are below
1.User will login thorough SSO .
2.Based on used id i need to display user data in table form.
3.User-id will need to display in right corner of page template ( JSF page with this page template)
4.user can update/create new table data by pressing update/createinsert button.
5.Once user press the create new request button, one empty row will popup which have user-id filled automatically (used-id who logged in) and will read only ,so that once user commit the data,DB can update/insert the data with that user-id
so far i have done point 1,2,4 and 5 like
1.i created AM preparesession and store the use id.
2.i have putted whereclause in AM for particular VO and run execute query and able to see particular user data, who logged in.
4.created servicemethod for createinsert in AM and exposed it ,and set used-is table attribute which i got in AM preparession .Now i am able to see new row with user-id in one column in read only form when
Is this the right approach ? and now i am not able to do step 3 so how to display same user-id in pagetemplate as this value is available in AM only. -
How do decide whether to go for Session or Call transaction? Can anyone give me the justification with a real time example,,please???
Hi Srinivas,
If any error occurs in a call transaction method, the user can either remove it at the same time (mode 'E') else, that record is discarded and all other records are updated in the database..
However, session method does not update the database till the session is completed successfully.. It can be rescheduled after removing the error..
However we can not reschedule the call transaction.. call transaction fast as compared to session method..
In session method we can pass data to multiple transactions.. in call transaction.. only to one..
I came across a requirement that no record should be updated if there is even a single error record.. in that case i used session method..
Thanks and Best Regards,

Toad read only sessions open a transaction in DB?
Hi,
When I check v$transaction, I see all TOAD and sqldeveloper sessions which are read only accounts. If I use the same user in sqlplus it won't appear in v$transaction. I am puzzled why these tools create a transaction for even select queries. How can i avoid these tools creating transaction(may be they are running begin trasaction for each session causing a transaction).
Thanks
AnandSAP IMG -> Cross Application Components -> Master Data Synchronization  Synchronization Control -> Synchronization Control -> Activate Synchronization options
This setting allows you to activate synchronization of BP with R/3. Not maintaining the values may result in certain fields being read-only in BP.
Suggested Values:
Source Object: BP | Target Object: CUSTOMER | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: BP | Target Object: VENDOR | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: CUSTOMER | Target Object: BP | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: VENDOR | Target Object: BP | Active Indicator : X
Have you set all of the above settings??

Bi session vs call transaction
hi,
what i need to clarify is that i only can use either 1 of the asterisk line below, right? if want to create BI session i use bdc_insert else if update directly use call transaction. correct?
as i make use of bdcdata, i still need to have the steps like below .
bdc_open_group
loop
append bdcdata
bdc_insert using t-code
call transaction 'tcode' using bdcdata ......
endloop
bdc_close_group
thanksHi
Yes, it's right. The ABAP code to create a BDC program is the same for the both cases: bi session and call transaction methods.
So it depends on only which method you need or want to use.
If you need to do many transactions perhaps it's better to create a bi session and run the session in the quite moment (so the night).
If you want to use CALL TRANSACTION method it's good thing to create a BI session if the CALL TRANSACTION fails.
Anywway you can insert a parameter to choose the method to be used.

How to create a session using call transaction method.
hi , this is nagaraju,
How to create a session using call transaction method.Hi,
About Data Transfer In R/3 System
When a company decides to implement the SAP R/3 to manage business-critical data, it usually does not start from a no-data situation. Normally, a SAP R/3 project comes into replace or complement existing application.
In the process of replacing current applications and transferring application data, two situations might occur:
The first is when application data to be replaced is transferred at once, and only once.
The second situation is to transfer data periodically from external systems to SAP and vice versa.
There is a period of time when information has to be transferred from existing application, to SAP R/3, and often this process will be repetitive.
The SAP system offers two primary methods for transferring data into SAP systems. From non-SAP systems or legacy system. These two methods are collectively called batch input or batch data communication.
1. SESSION METHOD
2. CALL TRANSACTION
3. DIRECT INPUT
First step for both the methods is to upload the data to internal table. From Internal Table, the data is transferred to database table by two ways i.e., Session method and Call transaction.
Session is intermediate step between internal table and database table. Data along with its action is stored in session i.e., data for screen fields, to which screen it is passed, the program name behind it, and how the next screen is processed.
When the program has finished generating the session, you can run the session to execute the SAP transactions in it. Unless session is processed, the data is not transferred to database table.
A technique similar to SESSION method, while batch input is a two-step procedure, Call Transaction does both steps online, one after the other. In this method, you call a transaction from your program.
SESSION METHOD
Data is not updated in database table unless Session is processed.
No sy-subrc is returned.
Error log is created for error records.
Updation in database table is always synchronous
CALL TRANSACTION
Immediate updation in database table.
Sy-subrc is returned.
Errors need to be handled explicitly
Updation in database table can be synchronous Or Asynchronous.

Decisive answer 2 difference between Pref Stereo Panning Mode and Advanced Session Properties Mixing
Since Steve refused to give a clear answer on this issue, I will attempt to address it.
I think the Preferences>Stereo Panning Mode only has to do with the panning of individual stereo tracks and there overall volume level.
Where as the Advanced Session Properties>Mixing>panning mode Has to do Only with the Master Channel's panning and overall volume level.
amirite? What I mean is that Under Preferences>stereo panning mode it only affects the volume of tracks when they are panned, it has no effect on the overall volume.
Under Advanced session properties>mixing>panning it subtracts 3dB when set to -3dB center, if everything is panned center.
I don't understand exactly what what the latter does when set to L/R logarithmic other then it makes the session not play at -3dB but rather at the file(s) real level, if everything is panned center.
apparently, when using L/R logarithmic for either one: if everything is panned in different directions and you have some mono tracks, all bets are off . -

in session method updation is synchronous and processing is asynchrounous. Session Method can handle Multiple Applications at a time. Where as Call Transaction Method can handle only one Application.
can anyone explain the above lines with a simple example.what is updation and what is meant by processing.how a session handles multiple transactions as we know that sessions cannot be run in parallel? At a time multiple screens are updated in session?how?
in the below thread it has been mentioned "2. If u want to execute the program in future u can create a session and keep it ready so that u can execute it at any point of time. That is not possible in call transaction method."
Session Method & Call Transaction
if we write the bdc program with call transaction , then it can also be used in future ,then what makes the difference.
what is meant by local update?when we need to use local update in call transaction?.We're not your free code factory. Try yourself, search for existing solutions, and come back here with specific problems.

URL to set session properties?
Is there a URL to SET session properties? I know I can get a list of them by calling "/XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=list&Content-Type=text/xml", but is there a way to set them in a similar manner?
Hi all, If you want me to start a new thread let me know...
I'm having funky, although repeatable, results using the URL to set a session parameter via AJAX call,
which always gets a Successful message.
/XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=Store&PropName=plantId&PropValue=60
I am verifying the session parameter 2 ways:
1. Refresh the page and view source (I took the lt and gt out)
...............span id="savedPlantId" style="visibility:hidden;"
2. AJAX call to /XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=List
Quirk #1: I see the value in the span. I do not see it in the servlet list.
Quirk #2: I can change the value a couple (2 or 3 times) then it doesn't change after that
Quirk #3: When it stops changing via the AJAX call, I can still change it with a browser URL
http://<server>:50000/XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=Store&PropName=plantId&PropValue=199
Any hints or ideas?
Yes, I am trying to use a single pixel applet, but having trouble with that too! See a different post.
I really would prefer to use the URL as there is no visual indication to the user
and an applet (and JVM) doesn't have to load.

Oh, and P.S. Is there a mode=Delete to remove the session parameter?

I have a good jabber-config.xml I edited in Notepad++ and saved (UTF-8) and I upload it to TFTP via CMPlatform on CCM 9.1.2.11900-12. I've done this in the past a lot with 8.6.2, never had any issues. I then restart CUCM TFTP services and download;
