System Restore is not working!!! Both my mac laptop and now my Windows 7 desktop will not allow me to restore previous sessions.

Try to use the "Restore Previous Session" entry in the History menu instead.

Clarity on Mac laptops and Windows

I've been reading a few posts and now feel confused. Could I beg indulgence and ask what is the deal with the intel laptops and windows?
Can both the Macbook and the Pro run (i.e. boot) straight to windows? If so which versions of windows?
I've been running Virtual PC and Windows XP and it runs like a real dog - practically unusable. I am keen to get a new Mac laptop but really want to be sure I can boot into windows as well. (Sadly most accounting software is PC based, especially in Canada!).
Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, it can boot into windows natively, thus using no emulation or virtualization. Supported are Windows XP SP2 versions (home or pro).

Having trouble setting up an Ad Hoc network with both iOS, Mac OS, and Windows.

So I'm skiing with some friends but we forgot to bring a router with us. The lodge internet is passable but we only have one ethernet connection. My friend connected his (windows) laptop to the ethernet and set up an Ad-Hoc network. The problem is that only Mac OS and iOS devices are able to connect to the network and use the internet. The windows machines and Droid devices can't connect or in some cases they can connect they can't use the internet.
My question is what special wizardry allows Mac OS and iOS to work fine on the ad hoc network but not the other platforms? Is there something I can do to get the other machines to connect to the network? Would things work better if I hosted the Ad Hoc network? Thanks for all the help.

Numbers 09 not working - I can open the program but only a few files are available, missing blank, checklist and many others. e.g when I click on a file I get this error: The document "nmbtemplate is invalid. The index.xml file is missing. help.

Please let me know what I can do to get my Numbers (iWork 09) working properly again.
Here is what is going on:
Numbers in iWork 09 not working can't access Blank, Checklist and many other files within Numbers. I can open the program but only a few files are available. When I click on the file (which also has no icon just the name of the file) this warning appears:
The document "Blank.nmbtemplate" is invalid. The index.xml file is missing.
I recently had to get a new hard drive installed and had the system upgraded and more memory put in by a Mac certified specialist recommended to me from the Apple store in Northbrook because this was the 3rd time my drive went bad but this time it was to old (I got the IMAC- in 2007) and the Apple store could no longer work on it this time so they recommended a few places that had certified Mac specialists. Since then Numbers is not working right.
I'm sure it's something simple to fix, but I've tried re installing it and that didn't work. Appreciate any help.

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

Unable to connect mac laptops and windows laptops on network at same time

Hi I have a wrt110 router which has a wired windows desktop attached. I also have several mac laptops connected wirelessly as well as an hp printer ,video game system blue ray player ,ipod,iphone and kindle all which connect with no problem. I have a pc laptop (Dell) which can see and connect to my network but does not connect to the internet . I tried disabling and even temporarily removing the antivirus software plus disabling the firewall but with no success. I am at my wits end because I need the pc laptop for work. The internet will connect to the pc laptop when I hard connect it into the router.
DSL through Earthlink .
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Try this. Disable IPv6 on all Win 7 computers under LAN properties for both wired and wireless adapters. Reboot computers. Leave the MAC's turned off for now. Try to connect all the devices except the MAC's. If successful connect the MAC's and if they have issue's, disable IPv6 on those now too. Make sure the WRT110 on on firmware 1.0.04 or above.

New mac user and says warning on console icon? when i click on it it says all kinds of things on system log. such things as kerne l, mdworker unable to talk, sandbox deny mac look up....starting to panic so any info greatly appreciated.

only thing i downloaded was clamxav from it's actual website and it's first day with computer. I have it turned off now waiting for some answers

Windows 7. Dowload complete, but when I click on icon, I only get a google homepage and google toolbar. Never a Firefox page or toolbar.

I installed Firefox successfully yesterday. But when I click on the icon, the only page that comes up is a google home page with a google toolbar. No firefox visible at all as page or toolbar. Can't figure it out. Current browser in Explorer and I have a windows 7 operating system on a desktop.

Is Firefox in fullscreen mode? Try hitting F11 to see if the toolbar and navigation bar are just hidden. If you see a small ''Firefox'' button in the corner, hit ''Alt'' and go to ''view > toolbars'' and enable the ''Navigation toolbar'' and the ''Bookmarks toolbar''. The [[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article also has some good information in it.
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]] and try setting your homepage to ''about:home''. This is the default Firefox homepage.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]]. If you've upgraded from 3.6, you might also want to look at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-upgrading-firefox-36#os this article with common questions after upgrading].

I downloaded iTunes 10.6.3.25 and set it up, when I click on the icon I get this message: The item 'iTunes.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?

I have tried the solutions that I have seen already. Restarting the computer and then repairing through the Control Panel. It didn't work. I have removed the software and done multiple restarts and reinstalls. I'm running on Vista 64 bit and the last iTunes from last spring ran fine. Any other ideas? Or somewhere I can go to get an older version of software? Btw, when I tried to start Quicktime, I got the same message.

If so, delete the current shortcut that is in the Quick Start tray and drag the one that is in Start > Programs down there.

Only if you run Windows in Parallels or Bootcamp on the Mac and run CS6 in the virtual Windows environment.
If not, the other option is to join the Cloud.

CS6 - need to install on a Mac laptop and Windows desktop

I am entitled to two installations for my CS6; however when I try to use my serial number on my Windows desktop, it says it's invalid.

Standalone retail serials are platform specific. What you are trying to do is simply not possible.

Elements compatibility Mac Laptop to Windows Work station?

Currently have a windows based workstation and a windows based laptop. Considering buying a mac laptop and upgrading to PS Elements on eack computer.

To follow up, I have good news and bad news:
I reformatted my external USB LaCie hard drive to FAT32 using a program called SwissKnife

But I did a shoot, moved the image files from the SD cards to the internal HD on the MBP laptop, imported them into LR, did some minimal editing, exported as catalog to the external hard drive, then tried to import to the desktop and....got the dreaded Unknown Error.
So for the moment I am still stumped.

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.
