Set CLASSPATH  in Oracle

I HAVE CREATED THE JAVA PROGRAM TO READ FROM EXCEL AND STORED INTO DATABASE,
i loaded the abc.class into oracle using loadjava command,
AND also created the procedure based on loaded class,
when i call the procedure, i got the error because i need to set classpath in oracle
i.e i need to SET the classpath for the classes12.jar , i set the path in environment variables,
when i run the .class file its working fine,
can any one tell me , how to set the classpath in oracle, or reference to classes12.jar

You don't set the classpath in Oracle; you set the environment variable CLASSPATH for your OS.
For example, it may looks like this in UNIX:
setenv CLASSPATH $CLASSPATH:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib/some_jar_file.jar

  • Problems with classpath and oracle drivers

    Hi, i've developed an application that uses oracle drivers "classes12.jar" using Eclipse. While i was writing the code, i manually specified the classpath which contains "classes12.jar" file using Eclipse's own configuration tool and now it works perfect when i run it under Eclipse. I then tried to run it using dos prompt but when i tried to run the program i got "ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.oracledriver". As you can guess, i thought that was a classpath issue so i set the classpath as follows:
    set CLASSPATH=C:\oracle\ora92\jdbc\lib
    where the directory "C:\oracle\ora92\jdbc\lib" is the one that contains classes12.jar file which i had also specified using Eclipse before.
    After that, i recompiled my application and tried to launch it as follows:
    ->javac Test.java
    ->java Test
    But then i got the following runtime error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Test
    Since this happened after i manually set CLASSPATH variable, this has something to do with that. What should i do now? Thanks in advance.

    Correct - the JAR has to be spelled out in the CLASSPATH.
    I'd also recommend that you not set CLASSPATH using a system environment variable. Better to use the -classpath parameter on javac.exe when you compile and java.exe when you run. Put the command into a script that you invoke when you start up the app. It'll document the fact that it's needed for anyone that comes after you and relieves you from having to change the CLASSPATH on machines you deploy to. And, for good measure, app servers like Tomcat and WebLogic totally ignore the system CLASSPATH. I don't even have one.

    A problem regarding set up of Oracle Lite 3.6.0.2.0 on Win 95, with JDK 1.1.8 and Java 2 SDK ( Ver 1.3 Beta)
    After the installation of Oracle Lite 3.6.0.2.0 on a laptop (with WIN 95 OS), When I run Oracle Lite Designer from start menu, I receive following error message :

    ====================================
    My ORACLE_HOME is c:\program files\ora95_2 and Oracle Lite is installed under the ORACLE_HOME in LITE\DESIGNER directory.
    JDK version is 1.1.8 which is greater than 1.1.4 installed in c:\program files\jdk1.1.8, My PATH, and CLASSPATH are set in AUTOEXEC.BAT as follows:
    set CLASSPATH=c:\Progra~1\jdk1.1.8\lib\classes.zip;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\classes\olite36.jar;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\designer\oldes.jar;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\designer\swingall.j ar

    And, I can run JAVA.EXE from any directory on command prompt.
    With JAVA 2 SDK (ver 1.3 Beta) instead of JDK 1.1.8 I'm getting a different Error message as follows:
    =============================
    java.lang.NoClassFoundError: 'FILES\ORA95_2\LITE\DESIGNER\oldes.jar;C:\PROGRAM'
    Please make sure that JDK 1.1.4 (or greater) is installed in your machine and CLASSPATH is set properly. JAVA.EXE must be in the PATH.
    ==============================
    the PATH and CLASSPATH were set accordingly, as with JDK1.1.8, and there was no classes.zip in classpath
    also the class file or the jar file looks weird or wrapped in the error message : 'FILES\ORA95_2\LITE\DESIGNER\oldes.jar;C:\PROGRAM'
    Another interesting thing I noticed is if I run oldes.exe from Installation CD, the Oracle Lite Designer runs fine, and without error, I'm able to modify tables in the database of my laptop also.
    Could someone shade some light on what am I doing wrong here ?
    Thanks for help in advance .

    Hi to all.
    Currently, i am trying to install patches for portal server.

  • Trouble Setting Classpath on Windows XP

    I'm having trouble setting up a classpath on Windows XP for SDK1.3.1_04.
    I've tried Control Panel\Advanced\Environment Variables\System Variables. There was a Path variable present, to which I've added:
    c:\jdk1.3.1_04\bin;
    There wasn't a Classpath variable present though. I've tried adding it myself in System Variables as follows:
    Variable name: Classpath
    Variable value: set classpath=.;
    But no joy. When I run "set" from the command prompt, there's no classpath present.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Cheers.

    Hi,
    I am running on XP (unfortunately), but also win2000 and win98.
    Setting up the classpath is not a problem, although if you are logged in as root, then it does not always show correctly.
    Try logging back in as yourself and then checking the classpah through the set command.
    Altrnatively, if this is not the problem, actualy try a reboot. which should not be necessary.

  • How to set classpath from java class ??

    I have tried to use System.setProperty("java.class.path", "my class path string ") to set classpath dynamically. But it is not working. How to set it dynamically from java class ?? Thanks , gary

    Look into the java.net.URLClassLoader. You can't set the classpath after the fact but you can specify URL's that will checked when you try to load a class with that loader.

    i am using Xp pro and Vista.
    My issue is that I am not able to set classpath in

    Don't worry about it. The CLASSPATH variable is best avoided anyway. Specify classpaths for particular apps on the command-line. Teh Docs show you how
    i want to set classpath so that I can compile and run
    programs from different folder other than default one
    in which java is installed.
    Please help.This suggests you're talking about PATH rather than classpath. Do you understand the difference?

  • Setting Classpath in linux

    Hi !! Can anyone help me in setting classpath in linux to run servlets/? I tried using this command..but didnt work
    export CLASSPATH="$CLASSPATH:/usr/share/tomcat5/server/lib/servlets-common.jar"
    Thanks
    Nive

    in ur autoexec.bat file write the following
    set PATH=C:\jdk1.5.0_04\bin;%PATH%
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\jdk1.5.0_04
    set
    CLASSPATH=.;C:\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9\common\lib\servlet
    -api.jar;C:\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9\common\lib\jsp-api.ja
    r;C:\Servlets+JSP;..;..\..;C:\jakarta-struts-1.2.4\lib
    \struts.jarThis response is meaningless. Principally because the OP specifically mentioned the use of LINUX. Not Windows.
    I've taken the advice of other forum users by avoiding a system level classpath variable. I define the classpath each time I compile and run. Working on Linux I tend to use command line argument files ( http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/solaris/javac.html#commandlineargfile ) which eliminates the need to redefine the classpath each time I compile or run my classes and apps. But others may do things differently.
    Here is a website you might want to check out which pertains to setting the classpath on Solaris and Linux.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/solaris/classpath.html

  • Help with setting classpath

    Hi All,
    I am new to servlets and JSP. I have a question regarding setting Classpath. My development directory structure is like this c:\..\desktop\java\project1\src\com\eg\web\e1.java. Servlet.jar file is in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\common\lib. I tried setting Classpath in windows 2000 using control panel=>System utility by this command
    SET CLASSPATH=.;c:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\common\lib\servlet.jar . I try to compile my program by going into the whole development directory structure C:\..\src\com\eg\web using javac e1.java. But I get the error "package javax.servlet does not exist". Can somebody help me resolve this?
    Thank You in advance
    Jaya

    Question 1: Are you using an IDE?
    [IDEs ignore the system classpath]
    Question 2: Did you try setting the classpath using the -cp option for javac, if you are not using an IDE?
    [you could also try to print the classpath on command line to check if it has taken effect]

    but the when i was closing command prompt , the environment variable in windows named as ClassPath was not updating
    i have also tried this command
    set classpath=%classpath%;D:\documentum\config;
    this also having the same result , so how can i set this property through command prompt
    Regards

    You can permanently set command line environmental variables through the advanced settings in Windows. You have to hunt around for it a bit, it is somewhere behind opening the right click properties of "my computer" (or whatever it is called in your flavor of Windows) and then choosing advanced. An "environmental variables" tab should be present there.
    BUT! I would not advise you to set a classpath variable unless you fully realize that is only to make your development life a bit easier when working on the command prompt. When making your application ready for deployment the classpath must be managed without the variable. A script could work, or packaging everything up as an executable jar. When you start to work with an IDE like Eclipse or Netbeans you don't need that variable at all any more.
