Set default analog output in MAX

Hi,
I would like to set a default value (e.g. 10V) to my analog output of my NI6251 card. The current value is (I assume) 0 V.
Is there a way to change the default value without using labview?
Many thanks

I'm pretty sure you can't set the default analog output of a DAQ card to something other than 0V even using LabVIEW.  When the device powers up it will reset and set all outputs to an inert state which is a good thing for safety conserns.
I'd recommend you redesign your system so it too uses this standard of using the inert state of a startup condition.  What kind of system do you have that you want the off state to be 10V?

  • Setting different analog output's parameters in PCI-6229 DAQ card

    Hello,
We are using DAQ assistant to set the analog output parameters (frequency).
Is it possible to set different values for each channel using DAQ assistant?
If not using DAQ assistant, what  is the other way to set it?
    Thank You
    Arunas

If you are trying to set different frequencies for waveform generation on two channels, the answer is No, it can't be done. If possible, you will have to pick a sample rate high enough to work for both signals, and use an over-sampled waveform.
Another choice would be to use a second device for the second waveform.

  • How to set default sound output

How do I set the default sound output?  I'm outputting to a USB converter but Mavericks switches to internal speakers on its own with no warning, most times in the middle of a song. Doesn't matter whether I'm using iTunes or a 3rd party music playback app.

I too have the same setup as you and use my streamer with all of my Apple devices. I've found it necessary to turn off Bluetooth in the devices I don't want to connect to when they are all within range of one another. If you don't need Bluetooth on your Mac turn it off. I've also found that if I'm connected to my Mac and a call comes in to my iPhone that the phone will take priority.

  • Setting up Analog Output in PCI6025E

I have a PCI6025E board that I would like to setup such that it outputs a sawtooth data.
I used a Sawtooth function signal generator (range 0-4V), which I connected to AO Continuous Gen. I want to output this to pin DAC0Out, which I set up in MAX as a channel called test.
For testing, I also set up an analog input channel, using Differential mode (using ACH0 and ACH8). I connected the pin from DAC0Out to ACH0 and AOGND to ACH8.
When I tested the results using MAX, I couldn't get a signal, and MAX shows constant 5 V output. When I use a Probe on the waveform data, it shows the sawtooth signal.
Can anyone give me a suggestion how to fix this problem? I have tried the Labview example Continuous Sine Generation and set it
up to test, but I can't get any results out of it as well.
I'm using this setup because I needed a signal generator capable of outputting a sawtooth signal, as well as trying to measure any possible losses through cables and the DAQ board.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello elton,
At first glace it looks like you have everything set up correctly. To replicate your situation, I modified the Simul AIAO Buffer(E-Series).vi example with a 0-4 v sawtooth signal. I am including copies of this modified example both with and without the input line. They both ran fine, and the copy without the input line tested great with a virtual channel in MAX. If these files dont address your particular situation, or if you have any other questions, feel free to post a copy of your program and I would be happy to take a look.

  • Setting default audio output in itunes

When I open iTunes 7.0.1, it changes my audio output preferences to a USB headset I have plugged into my computer (and which I prefer to keep plugged in at all times for using Skype). Is there any way to make iTunes default to the regular line out, built in audio, without disconnecting my headset? Every time I open iTunes now, I have to reset the system audio preferences to line out.
    Thanks for any advice

I figured out my problem. I have a plug-in called iWow installed in iTunes, and it was opening defaulted to headset sounds. Back to normal

  • Processing counter input into an analog output

    Greetings to all --
I've set up a PCI6070E card to do digital input through its "counter 0" channel and output through its "AO 0" channel.
I'm brand-new to Labview, however, and having trouble figuring out how to design my program.  In short, this is what I want to do:
    1. Count the number of pulses, let's call it P, that arrive at the counter in a given time increment.  (Ideally, this time will be adjustable from 1 microsec to 1 sec.  In reality, I may have to settle for some number of milliseconds or more, as Labview doesn't seem to like to do loops at more than 1khz.  But that's an issue for another day.)
    2. Perfrom a mathematical operation to turn P number of counts into some number N between -10 and 10
    3. Set the analog output to read N volts
    4. Reset counter to zero and start over at (1.) again.
I can make labview count pulses in, and I can send voltage signals out, and I can use the front panel to get the inputs I need from the user for the mathematical operation,  However, I'm having trouble with counting how mant pulses hit in a given time increment, and then resetting my digital counter to zero.
Can anyone point me at the right function names or help files, or suggest a rough program flow?  I appreciate it.

  • Dock Analog Output Adjustment

I use an FM modulator to play my iPod Touch in my car. I've used a few and they all seem to have shortcomings... mainly FM co-channel interference.
The one I use now is a Kensington. I've had the best luck with fade and co-channel interference with it. But the FM pre-emphasis is over modulated with the standard Touch analog output and it only connects via the dock connector.
I have already lowered the output level of all songs on my iPod with the iTunes Get Info:Options:Volume Setting to eliminate sibilance but would prefer to lower the line level output...
I KNOW that one day I am going to come up on a track that hasn't been lowered and soil my pants!
Does anyone know a hack or terminal command that will set the analog output of an iPod Touch?
    Thanks!

    - Ive tried it on different slot (in the other slot the driver installer wont even recognize the card). The 8V was not on PCI connector, but on the card itself. Also, I tried it on both PCs with the same headset. On sons PC works great, on mine doesnt. So connections are probably ok.
I only have a regular stereo speaker system, but I tried configuring the card to 4 speaker system and plugged the speakers to the rear channel. Theres horrible cracking and the sound breaks up badly. Im 99% sure this is somekind of configuration or driver problem. I really, really dont want to start re-installing OS right now, since Win7 is around the corner and Im probably going to buy it in 2-3 months and doing a clean install then.
Kinda blows since Ive had this card for more than 6 months and it has never worked. Ive been forced to use the integrated Realtek soundchip and I cry a few tears every time I put some music on.

  • PXI 6711: setting a default analogue output value

Is it possible to set a default voltage for the analogue output of the PXI 6711? I would like to have this default voltage every time I start up my PXI platform and every time there aren't LabView programs that controls those outputs.

    Hi,
Unfortunetely, the power on state for the analog outputs of the 6711 is 0V and you are not able to change that. You can make sure that the card is at a set voltage every time LV exits if you put in code that sets the voltage to a specific point every time LabVIEW exits. But, you will be at 0V until LV or another program sets the voltage to something different,

  • Setting analog outputs to 0

I would like to start by cautioning you that I am not a programmer.  I have been trained in LabVIew basics, so naturally I am trying to write a much more than basic code.
I am writing a test sequence in which I am using a sequence structure to setup and sequence various test functions. For part of the code I am writing I am trying to control a pressure output, I start the task outside a while loop, I write to the task to control control pressure inside the while loop after leaving the while loop and then stiop the task outside the while loop, but the analog output remains at the last commanded value, how do I set it to 0?
I have tried writing a constant 0 to the task after I leave the loop and then stoping the task but this does not appear to work. I have a number of analog and digital outputs in this code that I would like to set at 0 before I proceed to the following sequence.

My appologies, I have been going through a number of trial and error phases with this code.  Here is an example of when I was trying to write a 0 to the channel, in this version I used a case structure to tell it to go to 0 when the test sequence would be complete.  I arrived at this potential solution after having no success with earlier attempts.
As far as state machines go, like I said I have only been to LabView basics I and II, would I be able to convert the sequence structure to a case structure and put that in a while loop of some sort to control the sequencing?

  • Why does analog output max out at only 2 V when I connect my device?

I have a device that works on LabVIEW 6 (Win-NT machine), switching over to Vista, LabVIEW2009, with PCIe-6323.  the voltage output signal control works fine on the NT machine over the full range of 0-10V.  On the LabVIEW 2009/Vista machine, open AO channels work properly from -10 to 10 V in MAX.  But when I connect the device - the same device that works just fine on LabVIEW6 - It only works up to ~2V.  For example - I enter 1.5 V - i read 1.5 V.  I anything from 2.2-10V, and I get 2.2 V.  If I disconnect the device, I get output voltage that I enter in the Task test panel.
How can I get it to run the full -10 to 10 V?

The way that the scaling works for DAQmx tasks changed somewhere between DAQmx 7.? and DAQmx 8.8.
At least it did for analog inputs anyway.
Check if any scale is applied to your analog output task. Try changing it.

  • Setting sample rate for sinus analog output

    Hello,
I've been trying to do something very simple : using an analog output of the card PCI 6221 to produce a sinus curve of frequency 50 Hz. For this I used a Vi to create a sinus curve and the different DAQmx VIs. But I have difficulties understanding the principle of virtual channel and I think I'm doing a mistake setting the sample rate and samples number : one time for the sinus vi, second time for "DAQmx - Timing". Should I use the same values for both of these VIs ?
On my oscilloscope, with frequency=50Hz and sample rate=1kHz, I get a null signal. Then depending on both values, I get differently rated signals. For example with f=1Hz and sr=10kHz, a sinus of frequency 0,7 Hz.
    Solved!

Yes, thanks for your advice. I used the structure given in the example and now it's working fine. I'm still not sure what I did wrong though.
I would have a second question now (should I create a new topic?):
I put a continuous sine wave on the analog output. As soon as this is running, (or maybe after a short delay) I want to measure a limited amount of samples on my analog input. How can I be sure, it's not going to start measuring before the output is properly set ?
I don't think a trigger would solve the problem since I'm going to vary the output Amplitude.

  • How do I set up analog 0-10 VDC output pulses with varying duty cycles?

I am trying to control a 400 watt laser so that it can pulse on and off within a few milliseconds. The laser controller reads a 0-10 VDC signal, with 0V being 0 watts and 10V being 400 watts. I am using a PCI-6221 DAQ and LabVIEW 8.0.
It seems that all of the examples have square waves that are symmetric about the 0 volt range. I need a square wave that goes from 0-10VDC with different on/off timespans. I would like to have something as follows:
    1) 0 seconds = laser off
    2) .001 to .002 seconds = laser on at full power
    3) .002 to .009 seconds = laser off
    4) Repeat steps 2-3 500 times
    Any ideas?
    Michael Fidler

    Michael,
I ran your code, but was unable to reproduce the problem you are
seeing. I measured the signal in two fashions’. I brought the signal back into
the card (LabVIEW_Square Wave.JPG) and into a benchtop scope (Benchtop
    scope_Square Wave.jpg).
I would like to ask that you run the attached code twice. The
first time, please run it with the analog input as ‘Dev1/_ao0_vs_aognd’. This
take the analog output and compares it with the cards AO ground, therefore eliminating
the need for external connections and simply doing internal routing. The second
time, please run it with the analog input as “Dev1/ai1”, and wire your AO
channel to an AI channel. These tests are to ensure that there is not a stray
capacitance in your scope, the probe, etc. Let me know the results (pictures
    are always great)

  • How to set default max cache size in win 2003 terminal server

Hi! I have a win 2003 terminal server, with 50+ user accounts, the problem is that the cache for firefox is never cleared, how do I set a apropriate (ie 50MB) max cache size for all users? As it is today, I have certain users with several millions of cahe files, which slows everything down.
    firefox is 8.01 English version.

    Hey Macdaddy,
This happens all the time with our server at work. The server window never opens in the same place twice, and it can be annoying.
There are third-party window management tools out there, but what I did was use a macro program called Keyboard Maestro (since I already owned it).
Among the many things Keyboard Maestro can do is manipulate a window. I created a macro that moves it to a specific point (in my case, the upper left corner of the screen) and then resizes it to a specific width and height in pixels. I then assigned the macro a keyboard shortcut.
Now, when I mount the server, I can use the keyboard shortcut and the window is right where I want it.
There are other programs that just move windows, and I tried a couple. But Keyboard Maestro is more elegant in my opinion, and it does a whole lot more if you choose to go that route.
    Hope this helps.

  • Read Data (ASCII) and send to analog output

    Hello
I have the following MAX configuration:
Analog input task, continous, 2 samples, rate 100Hz (PCI-6024E)
Analog output task, continous, 64 samples, rate 100Hz (PCI-6723)
The cards are synchronized by the RTSI bus.
With Dasylab I display signals from load cells by the input task. A "Read Data" module sends values to the output task. The "Read Data" module has the following settings: Output in realtime, synchronisation with analog input task, file is an ASCII, block size 4 values, no ascii time channel.
Additional settings for DAQmx are done by DasyLab:
    Analog input: Driver buffer 30
Analog output: Driver buffer 30, output start after 2
When I start DasyLab I get a DAQmx failure (after a couple hours): DAQmxReadAnalogF64, Attempted to read samples that are no longer available. The requested sample was previously available, but has since been overwritten.
Could anyone please explain, how to configure analog input/output task and the DasyLab settings (Read Data)? - Attached the DasyLab diagram.
Additional information: The application should read and display signals from a test bench (load cells). The output shall feed external controllers. The input and output signals shall be displayed on the same chart (as realtime as possible).
    Thank you

Thanks for the prompt reply! - I have changed the settings to the following:
Analog input task, continous, 16 samples, rate 100Hz, driver buffer 32
Analog output task, continous, 16 samples, rate 100Hz, driver buffer 32, output start after 32
In the "Data read" module the block size is now 16 at 100Hz
With this setting, DasyLab runs, but only for around 12 hours.
    The following error occurs:
"Read date module name" / The data flow is blocked by one of the following modules.
    Followed by:
Attempted to read samples that are no longer available. The requested sample was previously available, but has since been overwritten.
Is there something else I have to care? Could it be problematic to send signals from different modules to the same Chart Recorder module? I use DasyLab version 11.
