Set default monitor at boot before X?

Hi,
I have a plasma tv and a normal 24" monitor plugged into a Nvidia GTX 960 both are DVI.
When I boot up the TV is the default and the monitor doesnt display anything.
Both work fine in X but how can I set the monitor to be the default monitor on boot?
Thanks.

shtnarg wrote:I wouldn't think both ports are different? That'd be unique! Try physically switching them at the video card side. I think it should work.
Honestly the DVI ports are two different types DVI-D and DVI-I. Only one is able to covert DVI to old VGA with an adaptor. So the TV has to be lugged into that port as it's VGA.
Here's a picture of my actual card http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/prod … 44_big.png
Those extra 4 holes in the port on the left are what allow the analogue conversion. I think manufactures are starting to phase out the old DVI-D like they did for VGA.

  • Setting default monitor on Satellite Pro 6070

    Hi
I have a sat pro6070 and I was wondering how you change the default monitor in settings, for example:- when I right click on the screen and choose properties, then go to settings, it is showing I have 2 monitors installed, No1 and No2
I want to have the No2 as my default/primary monitor but I am unable to figure out how to change the default monitor.
Also when I go into system properties it is showing I have THREE monitors installed, 2 x default monitors and 1 plug and play. I dont understand it at all
    any help appreciated
    thanks
    vangellis

On my notebook this option is greyed out therefore Im agree with the Ivan.
Mostly its not possible to set the external monitor to default display!
As far as I know you can connect the external monitor and then you can switch the display to the second, external monitor using the FN+F5 key combination.
But this option is not the same like default display it allows you to use both displays at the same time..

  • Change default monitor linux uses BEFORE X is loaded

i can't seem to find the answer for this. eveything talks about monitors in x
--  i need to get linux to boot up on the VGA  while the TV plugged in via HDMI
--  if tv is plugged in it boots up on the tv
if i boot with only my VGA plugged in it's fine but if i boot up with my VGA and my TV (hdmi)
my monitor switches over to the tv before i get the login prompt (x has not loaded yet).
if i startx i loose the tv picture as well (now both screens are black)
I have on-board ATI radeon HD7560D using xf86-video-ati driver (new install, never installed any other graphix drivers)

  • Set default name of document before save

I have created a "save as" button on a form.
When the user presses the button (e.g., mouse up) I want the save as dialog box to appear with a NEW programmatically defined file name to appear.  (NOT the existing file name).
The block comes because saveAs is a restricted method.
Any clues how to accomplish this seemingly simple task?

If you didn't mind some extra steps for the user, you could accomplish much the same thing by creating a dialog asking if the user wants to save the file named with the current date (as above).
Then if they wanted the file to be saved, you could ask them to navigate using app.browseForDoc ({ bSave: true}), and save using the returned cPath and your new filename.
Not quite a true save-as dialog, but you can get the file where the user wants it, and with the name you want to give.
Or if you want to save it in the same folder as the current document, just do doc.saveAs({ cPath: this.path })

  • Set main monitor before startup

    Hi.
The monitor of my iMac suddenly stopped workin, now I have a second monitor connected to it via DVI-VGA but it is set as secondary display, so when I power the broken iMac on I still cannot use it.
I already read threads about Target Disk Mode, but I do not have another Mac available so I cannot even clone the hard disk.... I need to set the second monitor as main: is there a way to do it at the login screen? Any way to invert the two monitors with a shortcut?
    Any idea is welcome!

I worked out the dock part. After working out that the two screens are see as one larger desktop I just need to swap the screen arrangement so my dock was showing on the right edge which is where my Dell is set now.
Any information on how to set one monitor over the other as the main monitor would be helpful.

  • Trying to configure Windows default Monitor RGB

Hi, I am trying to figure out the Windows color management interface to set up and confirm Monitor RGB.
Also how to set up and confirm that Windows is Defaulting to sRGB in untagged/unmanaged apps.
Thanks in advance for any help...
    First DEVICES tab:
In this screen shot, I see Device is set to "Display: Generic PnP Monitor-ATI"
This doesn't look like a monitor profile (what is it)?
I see "Use my settings for this device" is checked
What behavior does that turn off/on?
In ICC Profiles, I see "Starbucks.icm (default)"
This looks like the Default monitor profile, but how/where was it selected?

Okay, I plugged my Vista hard drive into my Mac Pro and booted into Windows Vista and took a deeper look.
Control Panel> Color Management> Device tab:
"Display: Generic PnP Monitor - NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT" appears to selecting the monitor attached to that card.
To see the actual monitor, go to Device Manager> Monitors (expand): right+click on Generic PnP Monitor> Properties> Details tab> click/expand Property drop menu and scroll to Hardware Ids ("Value" should list monitor). I am not sure what PnP means (plug & play?).
Checking "Use my settings for this device" probably lets me add and select profiles and behaviors to use with this monitor.
Unchecking "Use my settings for this device" probably tells Windows to make these decisions for me behind the mystery curtain (not desired if you like to know what's happening).
To select/change Windows Default Monitor RGB:
For example, if I wanted to switch my Monitor RGB to sRGB, I would click on "Add..." and choose the sRGB profile from the list of profiles installed on the system.  Same routine if I had a custom monitor profile....
Once I have the desired monitor profile appearing in Devices> Name — to set it as my Monitor RGB — I would click on it to highlight it, then click on "Set as Default Profile" (and reboot for safe measure and to be sure the change sticks after rebooting).
    +++++++
To confirm Windows Default Monitor RGB:
Go to Control Panel> Color Management> Device tab (and note profile "(default)".
This "(default)" designation probably identifies the current Windows default monitor profile, and it is probably where Photoshop picks up its Monitor RGB profile.
In other words, in the above example, Windows is using the "Starbucks.icm" custom monitor profile.
    +++++++
    To confirm Photoshop's Monitor RGB:
In Photoshop, go to Edit> Color Settings.
See Working Spaces> RGB and click to expand the drop menu.
Photoshop's Monitor RGB is the profile listed to the right of "Monitor RGB - (profile name)".
Note: Never set Working RGB to Monitor RGB (I am only pointing this out so you know where to confirm what profile Photoshop is using for Monitor RGB)...

  • How to set default reject reason in VA01 (create sales order)

    Hi
Everybody can tell me how to set default reject reason for item in sales order.
in our sap system there are a default reject reason as '90'. We want to set it as "Null".
    Thanks
    Henry

    Hi,
Assigning a default Reason for Rejection is not in standard SAP. I am sure there is some enhancement/user exit which updates the reason for rejection.
Please get the help of an ABAPer, create the sales order in debugging mode and he will find out the logic behind the automatic reason for rejection.
Before that you can find the exits in the include MV45AFZZ for any code related to this.
    Hope this helps

  • Any opinions on setting default values on Business Partner level?

    Hi All,
I do not have a question, but would like to have a good discussion on how you should preferably be setting default values on a business partner and it's assignment blocks.
In my opinion you have two main alternatives:
    1. The "old fashioned" way by using the get_<attribute_name> method and doing some checks for the perticular attribute in the context node.
    2. Using the Badi BADI_CRM_BP_UIU_DEFAULTS to fill fields with a default value. With some enhancements on the assignment blocks (making typed_context attribute public and, when not called yet, calling the badi) you can use the badi for all assignment blocks.
Because I discovered via debugging that in the, by many forums suggested, badi code a programm error/exception is used so that the default values are only set during creation mode, I started doubting to use the badi. Because once I had set my data declarations to the right references and the exception did not occur anymore, suddenly it always fills the values even when there are already values filled. So additional checks are needed to assure that I am in creation mode.
Although I like the use of the badi, because all my default values on the whole business partner object can be found in the same place, it is getting a bit strange to: first still enhance the view and context node class, adjust the visibility of the typed_context, call the badi and do all kind of checks to assure that you are in the right view/context node, where this all is faster and more lean and mean when done directly in the get_<attribute_name> method on a context node.
Anyone who wants to give there opinion on this?
    Regards,
    Martijn.

    Cameron,
Unfortunately you cannot pass the Account and Contact name before saving the record. Post default tries to capture the name just before the record gets saved, but as the record is yet to be created, the relationship wont exist and only the respective id fields will have values. If you try using account id/ contact id it will work else just pass the time stamp in the name field which will make sure there is some value when the record is saved. later in the back end you might need WS to update the field values.

  • External monitor in boot sequence

    Hi all,
i have a hp dv6000 laptop with a busted monitor.. so far, i had managed to get by using an external monitor. but the problem is, the external monitor only works when windows loads up..
how do i 'force' the laptop to detect the external monitor during boot sequence, especially now when im trying to reformat the laptop.
i know you have to press f11 during start up but if i cant see anything. the external monitor will only start detecting during windows login screen.
    help..

I have a HP Mini 1000 and I am having the exact same problem.  I think I need to change a BIOS setting, but I can't see anything since the LCD was broken, and I completely removed it.  I can see when Windows starts, but I need to see the boot so I can install a new operating system.  Does anybody know the BIOS sequence key by key so that I can do this blindly?  I can get in with F10 as Windows does not start when I am in the this mode, so I am definitely in the BIOS.

    Hi Cristoph,
We tried all the way but could not able assign characteristics value before saving the document. it means we can only see the assigned value using transaction CV02N. but our requirement is to check if the user fills any value into characteristics it should check with default value which we would like to assign whenever we create a new part of the document which we are not able to achieve.we tried a lot but could not succeed.
Nay idea if we can achieve this....

  • How to set default options in PD 16.5 SP03 PL01

    Everyone,
I want to set some default physical options while reverse engineering the table(s).
I want following options to be added everytime I reverse engieer the table.
    CREATE MULTISET TABLE,
    NO FALLBACK ,
    NO BEFORE JOURNAL,
    NO AFTER JOURNAL,
    CHECKSUM = DEFAULT,
    DEFAULT MERGEBLOCKRATIO
This is what we are going to use most of the time, so I dont want to create a table and then goto physical options and choose them. I want this by default. However in rare cases we might be using some other options as well like CREATE SET TABLE, so I should be able to change it whenever I want but default properties should be listed above.
Is there a way I can do this?
    Thanks,
    Perry

Event handler "AfterDatabaseReverseEngineer" for "model" metaclass may help.
Adding Scripts Before or After Database Generation and Reverse Engineering
To set default physical options when table created manualy in PD, model default physical options can be used or "Initialize" event handler of table can be an alternative.

  • Group Policy - Computer Startup Scripts - Add/Set Default printer

    Good Morning.
Let's say we have 2 offices, A and B, and only 1 user.  The user is using Roaming Profiles.  Each office has its own printer.
What I am trying to do, is make a Startup script that is specific to the COMPUTER being logged into so when any user logs into that computer, they get the printer in that office defined and set as default.
I am able to do this successfully with my script but ONLY if i have the script be on the USER side of GP (i.e. in the Logon script section)
That is great that that is working however, when my user goes to Office B, they still get mapped to Office A's printer if I use that method.
So I figured I could just modify my GP and run the same script from the STARTUP section of the computer, rather than the LOGON section of the user.  It does not work.
    Here is my script:
    Set WRFCUNetwork = CreateObject("Wscript.Network")
    PrinterPath = "\\fileserver\MAINTELLER"
    PrinterDriver = "PrinterDriver"
    WRFCUNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection PrinterPath, PrinterDriver
    WRFCUNetwork.SetDefaultPrinter "\\fileserver\MAINTELLER"
This is where I Have the script placed:
         Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts(Startup/Shutdown)
Once i'm in there, I double click Startup, click Add, and select my script which is named:
         MainPrinterSetup.vbs
I have this GP applied to ONE OU, and that OU has ONE computer in it (my test computer)
I login with a brand new user called "testuser" (creative, huh?) and basically nothing happens
except they log in and have some Microsoft Document Image Writer printer set as default (which by the way sure does slow the PC down to the point of it almost being broke if anyone actually tries to print to that by accident)
No Main Teller Printer, no anything.
The strangest part about this is, if i apply this script to the user LOGON scripts, it works fine, the printer is there, and is set as default. (but see above why that wont work for my situation)
So obviously the script works fine, but I guess i'm missing something when it comes to applying GP's to Computers rather than Users.
Can anyone shed some light as to why the script is not running (i'm guessing the script isn't even attempting to run, rather than failing, but i have no way to know that)
    Thank you in advance!!
    Derek Conlon

    WRFCU
EDIT:  Here are the PC's info that i'm working on:
Server:  Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (where my GP's are created and managed with AD)
Target PC:  Windows XP Professional SP3
EDIT #2:  I manually navigated to the Script file after logging in and "opened" it and it added and set the default printer no problem.  the issue is definately with the script running at startup.

I wanted to clarify a few things:
    1. While it is true that printer connections are usually per user, it is definitely possible to create "global printers".  There are a number of ways to do this, but two methods that come to mind are using:
    a. "Rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry" option with the "/ga" switch.  The "/ga" switch is the key here since it allows you to deploy printers "per machine" instead of "per user".  More information
    about this is available at:
    http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterAllUsers.htm
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624057%28WS.10%29.aspx
    http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/Logon/logon_printer_computer.htm
    http://www.robvanderwoude.com/2kprintcontrol.php
    b. The Print Management console that is available in Windows 2003 R2 and higher can help you deploy printers "per machine" in addition to "per user".  More information about this is available at:
    http://www.czsolution.com/print-management/print-management/print-management-console.htm#DeployingPrintersByGroupPolicy
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753109%28WS.10%29.aspx
    2. As Guy mentioned, Group Policy Preferences can help set the default printer.  But there is another way to accomplish this.  The problem with the computer startup portion is that it runs before the user logs in.  And applying this script
in the login script section would not work per computer unless you used loopback processing.  So another way to do this is to place a script that sets the default printer into the "All Users" startup folder.  Items in the "All Users"
startup folder run for any user that logs into the computer, but it runs in the user's context.  So, this script would effectively set the default printer on a "per machine" basis.  The script method is a cruder way to approach the problem,
but it will help get the job done.  Here are some resources on setting the default printer via script:
