Set default slide quality to Optimised

Captivate v5.5
Is there anyway to select the default settings of slides and all subsequent slides added to a project?
From what I can see a project starts off with the quality of each slide set as "Low" and each slide added is also by default set to "low".
I would like all my slides to be either "Optimised" or "High".
I know I can select them all and change their quality as I go or later, but would make sense to allow this to be done within Edit /  Object Style Manager or Preferences at the start of the creation of a project.
Maybe I am missing the option.....
Noel

Hi Noel,
There is no way in the Object Styles, slides are not considered as objects.
I don't know about a way to set the default quality to Optimised before starting a project. Maybe you know it already, was so happy about it, but since 6.1 the default quality is now Optimised.
What can be changed in Preferences, and if you do that before opening a project it will be applied to all future projects, is to go to SWF Size & Quality, and uncheck 'Retain Slide Quality' and set the option to High (Optimised is not there). That will not change the quality while editing, but once published you'll get High for all slides.

  • Setting default screen quality to "High"

    Captivate v5.5
    I am recording some screen shots from our corp. website to slides created in Captivate v5.5. I have set all the slides in Captivate with screen quality "High" yet all the slides I import after recording have screen quality "low".
    I know I can change them but wonder is there a way to set the fault screen quality to "high" so all new slides added are "high" quality - or whatever I want them to be rather than having to keep changing them.
    Noel

    Thank you Anjaneai and Lilybiri,
    So the way it works at the moment is this. When you create a project each slide you add will always be set to "low" quality and there is no way to change this in preferences or global settings.
    When you preview you work it will be based on "low" quality slides unless you change them one by one as you import them.
    Once you have finished the creation of your project and publish it, provided you have made the required changes in Project Settings - all slides that were "low" will be changed to the required quality setting as per the project settings in preferences.
    When you open the project again - to edit it for example, I assume the slide quality is still "low".
    I agree with you Lilybiri - Slide Quality should be an option in Preferences and the default settings should be "Optimised".
    Thanks again both.

  • Setting default export quality for PDFs in Pages 5.0

    Hi,
    Anyone know if it is possible to set a default export quality for PDFs in Pages 5.0.  Even if it remembered the last used setting that would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    OK,  I have managed to get higher quality images from the PDF renderer. Here is what I have found:
    1) The PDF renderer in Reporting Services 2005 will size all images that it is given at 96 DPI no matter what DPI the image is when you pass it to the renderer. That means that a 300 DPI image or even a 600 DPI image will be sized in the PDF as if it is only 96 DPI. That means your high DPI image will render much larger than you expect.
    So you might expect a 300 DPI image that is 6.5 inches wide to render properly at 1950 pixels. Yet, the PDF renderer will size it as it were 96 DPI which would make the image 20.3 inches long!
    2) There is good news though. Despite sizing the images as if they were 96 DPI, the PDF renderer appears to render higher DPI images at a higher quality than 96 DPI. So despite the sizing being wrong, the image actually is rendering at a higher quality.
    This means that you should size the image to the proper number of inches based on 96 DPI calculations. Then you can use Bitmap.SetResolution to set your images to at least 300 DPI.  That should give you a higher quality image that is the proper number of pixels to fit properly in your report.
    I am able to do all of this sizing dynamically because I am using objects as my data sources, but I am sure there are VB functions you could use in the report itself to accomplish the same task.
    It is late, and I've been at this project all day long, so forgive me if I have explained anything poorly or gotten any concepts long. Yet, at this late hour, I believe this is what the renderer is doing.
    I hope this helps someone else in the future, or at least points them in the right direction.

  • Set default slide timing to .5 second

    Can anyone tell me how to set the default slide timing to 1
    second or less? No matter what options I choose, slide timing is
    always determined by how long it takes me to click on the next
    target. Ideally, I'd like to set the slide timing to be very short,
    then have the timing of the objects I add determined slide length.
    Thanks for your help,
    Julie

    Hi Julie and happy HannuChristmaKwanzaYule to you!
    There is only one place I'm aware of that any slide timing
    default may be set. In Captivate 2, you look at Project >
    Preferences... > Defaults tab.
    In Captivate 3, you look at Edit > Preferences... >
    Project node.
    In both places you will find a place to configure the default
    slide time. This has no effect on any existing slides and I don't
    believe it will factor into the mix when recording. Also it would
    appear the minimum limit is one second. The only places this seems
    to take effect are when inserting Blank slides and when creating a
    Blank project.
    Hopefully this helps a smidge! Rick

  • Setting default JPEG quality in Preview Export

    Does anyone happen to know how to change the default quality setting of the JPEG export in Preview? I pretty much always need it to be best, and it's a little bit of a pain to have to adjust it from medium every time...

    Hi can you navigate to the Start menu and then into HP and the HP Solution Center? From within that, select settings (probably on the lower right side of the HP Solution Center screen. In settings, click on Printer Settings where you can change the defaults for your printer.

  • Setting default slide zoom in navigator view

    Hi all,
    One of my pet annoyances since moving over from PPT to using Keynote on a regular basis is having to rescale presentations every time I open them up in the navigator. By default Keynote seems to select 100% as the view scale, which probably works fine on a small monitor, but on my 23" monitor I like to use the full screen real-estate and have it filling a full window. So each time I have to select "fit in window". Does anyone know how I can change the default setting on this so that it will always fit to a new window when I open a new presentation?
    Thanks,
    Simon

    I am guessing that may be due to the fact that as most of the people around me are using PCs, I am mainly starting most often with PPT presentations rather than pre-saved Keynote ones.

    Hi,
    Tap Copy on the printer front panel, then tap the Settings button.
    Tap Quality and select Draft / Fast.
    Tap Set as New Defaults and then select Yes to confirm the changes.
    From now on draft quality will be used for copying unless any other quality will be selected.

    Does anyone know if I can set the slide size to 16:10 as default rather than having to go in change it from 16:9 to custom each time I open a new slide?

    @Nick
    Not sure if you have gotten much help or figured a work around but here is something you might find useful, if not now, later.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24285/set-software-update-server
    It is a great, simple, and small app which modifies the SUS plist in the user to your SUS address or can reset it back to the Apple default. Regarding the different names that are popping up, not quite sure what that is about but I would check your DNS Zones using Server Admin and make sure that all are set up with the correct schema.

  • Set default time/length for imported images to remain on slide

    I am working on several ongoing projects where i need to import around 30 images (mobile screen captures) to each captivate project to create a simulation. I have set the default slide length to 1 second, but each time an image is imported, the image comes in at a default of 3 seconds and I need to go back and adjust both the length of the image and the slide length on the timeline. It's time consuming and since i have to do it repeatedly, I wondered if there is a way to set a default length for an imported image?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Set default fax to black and white

    I have been sending faxes by sending doc files to print and selecting the Officejet fax as my printer option.
    Annoyingly, it keeps reverting to "send color" . I would like to set "sending black and white faxes" as the default.
    How can I set the default to Black and white?
    I cannot find, in the manual, any reference to setting the default.
    Thanks for any insight--even a page number in the manual would be helpful.

    Hi @deepthinker,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I noticed that you are trying to set default fax to black and white instead of color with your HP Officejet 5610 on Windows 8.1 (64-bit). I am happy to look into this for you!
    I would recommend to open your HP Solution Center (should be a printer icon on your desktop.) Then click on Settings, then click on Printer Settings,  click on the Features tab at the top of the screen, look for the Color Options section near bottom left, and click on Print in grayscale, click the down arrow on High Quality, and select Black Ink Only.
    Here is an image of what I am seeing.
    If that doesn't work try the following:
    Open the HP Solution Center, select Send A Fax, and then look for Black and White only.
    Here is another image to illustrate.
    Hope this information helps, and have a good day!

  • How to set default printing in black only

    Greetings,
    I'd like to set my default printing with Firefox at black ink only, which I can do individually prior to printing a page, but it reverts to color after that printing. But if I set the size at, say, 80%, that becomes the default setting, or if I set portrait/landscape for a single printing, that becomes the default setting. Why can't the desired black-ink only setting default like the size/portrait/landscape setting? What I want to do is set the printing permanently at black only, and the size at 100%, but allow one-time printing at landscape or portrait, or sizes less than 100% without those settings becoming the default. How can I do this? Thanks for any help
    Best wishes, Tom
    I've tried the help solutions on the website to no avail....

    Greeting ideato,
    Thanks so much for your reply. I've clicked on the Firefox button at upper left, then Print, then Properties, then Advanced, under which is listed Printer Features (I have only 1 printer), below which is a line with Print in Grayscale, clicking on which has has 3 options: Off (apparently default), High quality Grayscale, and Black Ink Only. I click on the latter, and click on OK for this window and others in the sequence, and it'll print in black only for the present printing, but will revert to color for the next printing, 'though like I said, if I change the size to 80% or from portrait to landscape, those settings will remain. I can't figure it out. Again, thanks for any help.

  • Set default "Dropdown Lists" to "By value"

    Hi ,

  • Set Default Value of Multi-select list item

    I have a multi-select list item I want to default the value of to '%' (which is really '%null%') and have it selected. I tried setting default value of item, but it doesn't take '%null%'. I also tried a computation with a static of
    :P507_ITEM := '%null%'; How do you get the default value set and selected?

    Hi
    Shijesh is right, you need to change your null return value and use that return value as your default. Try and use something of the same datatype as your real return values if you plan to use '%' to display all as it will make your queries simpler. eg.
    Company A returns 1
    Company B return 2
    % returns 0
    Then your query would be...
    SELECT ...
    FROM ...
    WHERE company_id = DECODE(:P_COMPANY,1,1,2,2,0,company_id)
    Hope this makes sense.
    Cheers

    Hi,
    According to your description, you want to set default value for TaxonomyWebTaggingControl.
    I have a test in my environment. It could be achieved by setting the Text Property of TaxonomyWebTaggingControl.
    Here is the code snippet:
    TaxonomySession session = new TaxonomySession(SPContext.Current.Site);
    SPSite site = SPContext.Current.Web.Site;
    TermStore termStore = session.TermStores["Managed Metadata Service"];
    Group group = termStore.Groups["GroupA"];
    TermSet termSet = group.TermSets["A"];
    Term term = termSet.Terms["A1"];
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.SspId.Add(termStore.Id);
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.SSPList = termStore.Id.ToString();
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.TermSetId.Add(termSet.Id);
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.TermSetList = termSet.Id.ToString();
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.AllowFillIn = true;
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.IsAddTerms = true;
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.IsMulti = false;
    TaxonomyWebTaggingControl1.Text = string.Format("{0}|{1}", term.Name, term.Id.ToString());
    Here is a detailed article for your reference:
