Set Default User Agent in Safari

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to set Default User Agent to Mac in Safari for Windows. As when i start Safari every time now it gives me a default user agent while i want it to be Mac 3.1.
Will appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

Enable the Debug Menu and then use the User Agent switcher feature.

Is there a way to Set the Default User Agent to Iphone 3 and the user agent does not revert back when the Safari is restarted.
Current when I set the user agent to Iphone 3 and then restart the browser the Iphone 3 user agent is not retained. Is there a way to ensure that the Iphone 3 user agent is retained after a restart ?

How about taking the tack that Compatibility Settings uses? Its default is IE7 and it is semi-persistent, apparently lasts until you clear your Cookies for it. So, what is in the Cookie? If it says make UAS = IE7 perhaps you could
change it to be something else? Alternatively, find out how IE7 becomes that procedure's default and see if there is something in that path which is changeable. Use ProcMon to investigate these ideas.
Alternatively, on another tack, look at the implementation of the Microsoft list, in IECompatData.xml. Some, apparently, have experimented with making custom changes in there. Then a problem would be that they would have to disable regular
checking and updating of that list or that again, their modifications would only be semi-persistent, and thus they would have to be prepared to periodically, on an unknown schedule, have to be ready to reassert their modifications.

UPDATE: We were able to further identify the root cause of the problem to be when anonymous access is turned off and the subweb is set up to use basic and integrated authentication (IIS settings). To test this, we removed integrated authentication (leaving only basic authentication in place) and the problem was fixed. However, this is not a viable solution as we need to use integrated authentication (for various other reasons).

Custom User Agent in Safari 3.0.4

Is there a way to set a custom user agent in Safari 3? In the debug menu it only gives a list. Can I edit a PLIST file somewhere?
Anyway I'm doing this to fool sites into thinking I have Chrome so I'm not biased against.

Answering all questions:
I'm stuck at Safari 3 because I'm stuck at 10.5 (due to a freak glitch that neither Apple nor people on this forum could figure out).
I did load a new page and went to the site that tells me what my UA is. I also relaunched Safari and cleared the cache.
What I did was I modified a UA string that already worked (Firefox) and was on the list. I replaced the UA with the Chrome UA. I also tried making a NEW string. Neither worked.
I know how to change the UA in Firefox, but I want to make it Chrome in Safari 3 because I like Safari better (it has activity, debug menu, OS integration, etc).
I also tried downloading someone else's custom UA PLIST, which didn't have any effect. In fact, the file was originally missing once I reinstalled Safari (my old Safari had the file but it was buggy so I reinstalled).

I'm pretty sure higher access superceedes, so you could set up a group with no actual access, just to get the preferences working, then their individual security will dictate what they can do. I haven't tested this fully, but I beleive this is how it will work. As far as setting the preferences, go into the admin console and right click on the group, then select Preferences. To apply the group preferences to a user, add the user to the group, then right click on the user, select preferences and from the upper left corner, use the drop down to select the active preference, in this case, it will be the group you created and added them to. I need to fill out a application on line and it appears that it does not recognize Safari. Sounds like it needs to see IE. Anyway to temporarily enable IE for this application? Otherwise I have to go use a PC at the local library....

Launch Safari. From the Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari. From the drop down menu click Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the Safari menu bar again, click Develop > User Agent
Try IE 7, 8, or 9.

Setting default font size in Safari

Hi. I like to set my font size in Safari to one level below the default. I usually do this everytime I open up a Safari window and hit Command+Minus or go to View > make text smaller. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could set this to default so I did not have to do it everytime I launched Safari?

You can go into the main Safari Menu, (upper left of top Menu)
Go to Preferences>Advanced
and then lower the size font designated in
"Never use font sizes smaller than _"
Mine's set to 9 which is pretty small,
but I like it better. I believe it was set to 11 or 12 natively.

Setting default user information for Pages templates

Over time I've added email & phone numbers to "my card" in Address book. How can I tell Pages which address & phone number to use for templates like Letters etc. right now it seems to pick old addresses & phone numbers (which I still need in my card, they just are not my first choice anymore.)
(Right now, I'm using Modern letter, but it applies for others as well.)
I know I could create my own templates, but it would be nice to be able to just use the builtin templates.
I can't find any preference in Pages or way to indicate a default in Address book.

How to Set Default Printer Just for Safari

I use 2 printers.
One prints paper docs etc. The other prints labels only. When i want to print the labels I have to select that printer in the print dialogue in Safari every time. Super annoying.
IS there a way to set a gedault printer just for Safari?
I tried using the localhost:641/admin method and all i get is Bad Request (the localhost address i mention here is not the actual version as i cannot remember it now, but it was something like that)

Workgroup Manager - Set default home page for Safari

is it possible to set a default homepage for the a suite of macs using Workgroup manager, for some reason the mac suite are not picking up the homepage set via the proxy, so if it could be changed it would be a great help.

Then just add it yourself. Do this:
Select any other value available in the com.apple.Safari manifest and then edit the raw xml. This can be done by doing the normal process described above but choosing something other than Home Page. I choose Download location. Then, click back on Accounts and go to the Inspector tab. If you do not have it enable, go WGM's preferences and enable the "show all records tab."
Once that is visible, select the account that you modified and then click the Inspector tab. From the list, find MCXSettings and turn the reveal arrow down. Select the MCX entry and press the edit pencil. You will see something like this:

Set Default User settings in BRF Plus

Hi All,
We want to set some default setting for a set of the users for BRFPlus gui.
For Example:
1. We want to display row no in the decision table as the first column for all users.
2. In the decision table, we want some columns ( from result section)which are actually in the end on the right of the screen should be visible as first column.
I know these can be achieved using user settings. But we want to default this for all the BRF Plus users.
Can we create one setup and assign it or default it for all BRF Plus users? Like we do in SAP R3 defaulting menus for SAP users.

We have already used the blog to hide some features from users view in custom catalog. After your reply I revisited the our code and added few more lines of codes to display row number. But the Row Number was not displayed. Guessing if anything is missing.
Is it not possible to do at user profile level for mass users. Like we do it for SAP R3 Users?

Setting default user options in client-install

In BPC10 MS, is there a way so set user options to a default value in the client that is installed from the Download Center, so that all new users have the same default settings. The ones I'm interested in are the ones below.

Modify all settings as you want them in your client.
\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\EPMClientPreference.xml
(path might be different depending on installation)
The specific settings you are after is:
<AutomaticRefresh>true</AutomaticRefresh>
<AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>true</AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>
<OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>true</OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>
Once you have set your EPMXLClientPreference.XML as you want to have it you need to distribute it to the clients (I do not think you can do that via the download center)
